Equipment, electrical, engine block heaterJan 15, 2026
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Focus, 2013-2019 Escape, and 2015-2016 MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.
An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed March 6, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S01. Latches/locks/linkages, doors, latchJun 8, 2020
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

Fuel system, gasoline, storageJul 5, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2012 and 2017 Focus vehicles equipped with 2.0L GDI gasoline engines and 2013-2014 Focus ST vehicles equipped with 2.0L GTDI engines, previously recalled under 18V-735. The affected vehicles did not have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) updated as intended. Therefore, the Canister Purge Valve (CPV) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system.
The excessive vacuum may result in an engine stall while driving, without warning and without the ability to restart the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module. Dealers will also check for fault codes and replace the CPV as needed. If the CPV is replaced, dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. The recall began July 29, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S22.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2017 Ford Focus hatchback vehicles manufactured February 14, 2012, to August 26, 2016 and equipped with a manual transmission. The hatchback of the affected vehicles may be unlatched with a single press of the interior latch release button. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."
With only a single press needed, the driver may accidently unlatch the hatchback, increasing the risk of injury to any unsecured passengers in the back.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Body Control Module with updated software, free of charge. The recall began February 10, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16C13.

FORD (MULTIPLE MODELS AND YEARS) DOOR LATCH RECALL. I HAD ALREADY SUBMITTED A REQUEST TO ADD OUR VEHICLE TO THE RECALL LIST. FORD STARTED A RECALL REGARDING THE LATCH ON THEIR DOORS MALFUNCTIONING, CAUSING THEM TO JUST SWING OPEN AND NOT STAY CLOSED. OUR 2014 FORD FOCUS HAD THIS PROBLEM DESPITE US TRYING TO FIX IT AND CLOSE THE PASSENGER SIDE BACK DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES. FORD REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT CHARGING US BECAUSE OUR VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT WE STILL HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM.

MY CAR WOULD STALL WHEN I WAS TURNING OR DRIVING, BUT AT FIRST I COULD TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON AND IT WOULD RUN JUST FINE. THEN MY CAR STARTED SHOWING ME THAT I HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS WHEN I DIDN'T. I FOUND OUT THAT THE ISSUE IS THE GAS TANK, A $450 FIX. THESE PLASTIC GAS TANKS ARE COLLAPSING ON ITSELF, MY FRIEND HAD A 2012 FOCUS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE GAS TANK WAS SHRINKING AND THAT IT WOULD KEEP SHRINKING UNTIL THE GAS TANK WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY GONE. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL!!!

BACK PASSENGER DOOR DOES NOT LATCH CLOSED. WE DISCOVERED THIS 8/19 BECAUSE WE WERE DRIVING, AND WHEN WE STOPPED THE BACK DOOR OPENED AND THEN MADE THE SOUND LIKE IT WAS GOING TO CLOSE, BUT IT NEVER DID. TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO CLOSE THE DOOR BUT IT NEVER LATCHED SHUT. TRIED TO TURN THE LATCH ITSELF IN THE DOOR, THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM. 1.5 MILLION CARS MADE BY FORD, INCLUDING 2013-15 FORD FOCUSES, WERE RECALLED IN 2016 FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR USED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO AND NOW THE BACK DOOR NO LONGER LATCHES. BARELY HAVE 30,000 MILES ON THE CAR. TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS STATED THAT OUR VIN NUMBER IS NOT CONSIDERED TO HAVE THIS RECALL AND REFUSED TO REPLACE THE DOOR/LATCH UNLESS WE PAY. EVEN THOUGH WE OBVIOUSLY HAVE THE EXACT PROBLEM AS DESCRIBED IN THEIR PUBLIC MEDIA STATEMENT BACK IN SEPT. 2016. SO WE SPENT $680 TO REPAIR SOMETHING THAT THE FORD DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE FIXED BEFORE EVEN SELLING US THE CAR. THEY, APPARENTLY, WOULD PREFER US DRIVING IN A CAR THAT'S CREATING A HAZARD TO OURSELVES AND OTHER DRIVERS THAN ACTUALLY FIX THEIR MISTAKES AND KEEP PEOPLE SAFE.

I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED MY CLUTCHES ONCE BUT CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. MY DEALER SHIP STATES THAT THEY CANNOT HELP FOR MY CAR DOES NOT MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR IT TO BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IT HAS NIT EXCEEDED THE 150,000 MILES. I FEEL UNSAFE FOR MY VEHICLE SHUTTERS WHEN I DRIVE AND NOW HAS BEGUN TO LOSE POWER WHEN I PUSH ON THE GAS PEDDLE.

"DOOR AJAR" WARNING APPEARS FOR FRONT PASSENGER DOOR EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CORRECTLY CLOSED. LEADS TO A CASCADE OF OTHER ISSUES, BIGGEST SAFETY ISSUE WOULD BE DOORS MAY ALL REFUSE TO LOCK AT VARIOUS TIMES. ALSO RUNS VARIOUS LIGHTS AFTER PARKING VEHICLE, MIGHT AFFECT BATTERY CHARGE. I BELIEVE THE DOOR CLOSED SENSOR IS FAILING, THIS IS THE LOCK MECHANISM THAT WAS REPLACED IN AN EARLIER RECALL. PROBLEM BEGAN ABOUT A MONTH AGO, AT AROUND 33,000 MILES. MY DOOR LATCHES WERE REPLACED IN DECEMBER 2017 AT 21,000 MILES.

THIS MAY BE A DUPLICATE REPORT. I TRIED ON A DIFFERENT SERVER, BUT THE SAVED PAGE WAS BLANK. I PURCHASED THE CAR USED FROM A RENTAL CAR AGENCY. IT HAD ABOUT 25, 000 OR 30,000 MILES. WITH A SHORT TIME THE CAR STARTED 'BUCKING' WHEN SHIFTING THROUGH THE LOWER GEARS. THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED. LESS THAN ONE YEAR THE CAR STARTED 'BUCKING' AGAIN. THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED AGAIN. BOTH TIMES AT A FORD DEALERSHIP. IN THE LAST MONTH THE 'BUCKING' HAS STARTED AGAIN. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME 'SYMPTOM' AND THE SAME PART. I WAS TOLD BY THE MANAGER THAT MY CAR IS NOT THE ONLY CAR THAT HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM.
Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 15, 2018
I HAVE READ PLENTY REVIEWS AND EVEN CHECKED MY CREDIT REPORT WHERE FORD CARS OF THE 2014 HAS RECALLS ON THE FUEL PUMP OR FUEL SYSTEM. WHEN I FIRST BROUGHT THE CAR WE HAD TO GET THE CLUTCH REPLACE AND IT STILL HAD GAGING ISSUES. THE CAR CUTS OFF IN TRAFFIC AND I DO NOT HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO THE FACT THAT KT WOULD NEVER COVER PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS. WE EVEN CALLED A FORD AND THEY WOULD NOT HELP US. THIS FUEL SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

2014 FORD FOCUS HAS SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING TWO TIMES. ONCE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD I WAS ABLE TO COAST THE CAR INTO A PARKING LOT. THE SECOND TIME IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, BOTH TIMES TRANMISSUON FAULT SERVICE NOW FLASHED, THE CAR SHUDDERED UNTIL IT WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP. I'VE HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED/FIXED 2 TIMES NEITHER COVERED UNDER FULLY AND I WAS RESPONSIBLE TO PAY MY WARRANTY DEDUCTIBLE. I HAVE HAD THE TRANDMISSION CONTROL MODULE FIXED ONCE AND NOW IN THE SHOP AGAIN, BUT WAS TOLD THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS, HAVEN'T SEEN THE CODES THAT POPULATED BEFORE. EACH TIME I DRIVE THAT CAR I LITERALLY RISK MY LIFE, TO HAVE A CAR JUST DROP RPM TO 0, SHUDDER AND JERK UNTIL I CAN FIND SOMEWHERE TO PARK IT. I DRIVE 40 MILES ONE WAY TO WORK TAKING UP TO 5 DIFFERENT FREEWAYS. AT WHAT POINT DOES MY SAFETY AND THOSE DRIVING AROUND ME BECOME AN ISSUE? WHEN I STALL OUT MID HIGHWAY? WHEN THE CAR JERKS TO A STOP AND SOMEONE SLAMS INTO ME? EACH TIME THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN IN, I AM TOLD THE PROBLEM IS FIXED, YET I FIND MYSELF BACK AGAIN WITHIN MONTHS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. LOSING POWER ON A CAR WHILE BEING IN FULL MOTION GOING UP TO 45 MPH, IS NOT SAFE FOR ANYONE. HAVING TO DRIVE A CAR THAT CONSISTENTLY SHAKES AND JERKS WHILE IN MOTION, IS NOT SAFE. HOW MANY MORE TIMES DOES THIS NEED TO OCCUR BEFORE SOMEONE REALIZES THIS MODEL IS NOT SAFE!
Power train, Aug 14, 2018
THE CAR "BUCKS" WHEN SHIFTING THROUGH THE GEARS. THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR THREE YEARS. IT WAS PURCHASED AS A USED RENTAL CAR WITH 30,000 MILES, IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY. WITHIN THREE MONTHS I HAD A CLUTCH REPLACED. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER, THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED AGAIN. NOW, LESS THAN TEN MONTHS LATER, THE CLUTCH HAS GONE BAD AGAIN. (THAN 25,000 MILES). I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WILL NOT BE COVERED. I WAS TOLD THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY CUSTOMER THAT HAS HAD THIS EXPERIENCE WITH CLUTCHES.

WHEN I DRIVE MY VEHICLE, I BELIEVE THE TRANSMISSION IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH SHIFTING GEARS. IT SHAKES REALLY BAD WHEN I'M GETTING UP TO 20 MPH THEN IT SOME WHAT STOPS. THE CAR WILL IDEAL REAL LOUD OR THE RPMS WILL GO UP HIGH FOR NO REASON WHEN I'M AT A STOP. SOMETIMES THE RPMS WILL GO UP HIGH WHEN I'M ON CRUSE CONTROL AS IF I'M PRESSING THE GAS DOWN (FAST AND ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND) BUT I AM NOT.

I'M AWARE THAT FORD HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON ON THIS MODEL FOCUS DUE TO A DYSFUNCTION WITHIN THE DESIGN OF THE DUAL CLUTCH SYSTEM, HOWEVER MY VIN NUMBER HAS NOT RECEIVED THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR SOME REASO AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT REPAIRED. . THE CAR WAS MAKING A RATTLING NOISE WHEN GOING UP HILLS AND WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION (STOP-LIGHT). THERE WAS ALSO SOME SHAKING AND JERKING. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE CLUTCH (A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ADDRESSED THIS). THE PROBLEM WAS REMEDIED ON 11/9/17. THE CAR IS STARTING TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME SYMPTOMS AGAIN ALTHOUGH THE RATTLING NOISE IS NOT AS LOUD AS IT WAS THE FIRST TIME. THE CAR MAKES A RATTLING SOUND WHEN GOING UP HILLS, AROUND CURVES, AND WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED BEFORE AND I WAS GIVEN THE RUN AROUND: I WAS TOLD THE RATTLING NOISE WAS "NORMAL". I ASKED FOR THE INVOICE TO SPECIFICALLY STATE, "THE RATTLING NOISE HEARD IS NORMAL" (IN ORDER TO DOCUMENT WHAT IS GOING ON), BUT THEY DID NOT HONOR THE REQUEST.

ALL SINCE PURCHASE IN JAN 2014. WITHIN A FEW MONTHS OF NEW PURCHASE: ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND ERRORS UNKNOWN TO FORD, NEED FOR TRANSMISSION SWAP, 2 OR 3 RECALLS RE TRANSMISSION AND DOOR REPLACEMENT, HORN STOPPED WORKING (WHILE IN 65MPH TRAFFIC I95 AND ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT). CONSTANTLY IN SHOP AND CONTINUAL ISSUES WITH STALLING (ONCE, STOPPED IN 65MPH TRAFFIC ON MAJOR INTERSTATE I95 IN LEFT LANE), SYNCH AND PHONE SYSTEM HAS NEVER WORKED CORRECTLY. 3 WEEKS AGO, AFTER STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IN PHILADELPHIA, DEPRESSED GAS PEDAL AND WENT IN TOTAL REVERSE! THE CAR VIOLENTLY SHACKS WHEN YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, IT SOME TIMES WON'T EVEN GO AT ALL! THIS HAS BECOME A MAJOR ISSUE AND EVERY OTHER FOCUS OWNER I SPEAK WITH SAYS THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND FORD WON'T DO ANYTHING... FORD REPLACED THE DOOR LATCHES UNDER RECALL 9 MONTHS AGO AND THE DRIVER DOOR LATCH HAS BROKEN, AGAIN. FORD STATES THAT WARRANTY FOR RECALL PARTS IS 12 MONTHS/12,000 MILES. I HAVE DRIVEN 14,000 SINCE THE REPAIR. THIS IS STILL AN ACTIVE RECALL AND YET THE DEALER IS CHARGING APPROXIMATELY $300.00 FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS SO WRONG, IT'S STILL A SAFETY ISSUE AS NOW MY DRIVER DOOR WON'T STAY CLOSED.

IT ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT BUT I GOT A "TRANSMISSION FAULT. SERVICE NOW" WARNING LIGHT AND THE CAR JERKED VIOLENTLY. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED (80 MPH) ON A HIGH WAY - I LIVE IN TEXAS WHERE 80 MPH IS LEGAL. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT RISK AND CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS AS A CAR BEHIND ME COULD HAVE EASILY RAN INTO ME AS I LOST SPEED WHEN TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. PLEASE HAVE FORD RECALL THESE DANGEROUS VEHICLES IN ORDER TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS FROM HAPPENING.
