  4. Latches/locks/linkages, doors, latchJun 8, 2020

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

140 reports, newest first. Show all

  1. Fuel/propulsion system, Dec 4, 2018

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED LIT. ALSO, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 58,500. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

  2. Steering, Power train, Fuel/propulsion system, Nov 30, 2018

ON THURSDAY EVENING, 11/22/2018, I WAS COMING TO A STOP AT A LIGHT ON A CITY STREET (SPEED LIMIT 35) WHEN MY CAR STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. MOVING AT MOST 25 MPH WHEN IT OCCURRED, THE OIL AND BATTERY LIGHTS CAME ON AS I SLOWED. I TRIED ACCELERATING SLIGHTLY TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE, AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I ATTEMPTED TO PULL INTO THE LEFT TURN LANE (MOSTLY OUT OF TRAFFIC) BUT FOUND MY POWER STEERING WAS COMPROMISED. I TURNED ON MY HAZARDS, PARKED, AND TURNED OFF THE CAR, WAITED 5 SECONDS, AND RESTARTED THE CAR WITH NO TROUBLE. I WAS SHAKEN, BUT THANKFULLY NO DAMAGE TO THE CAR OR INJURIES TO MYSELF OR OTHERS. 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE STALL, I HAD MY TRANSMISSION SERVICED, AND I WAS MADE AWARE OF FORD MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER 18S32 AND THAT MY CAR WAS ONE OF THE AFFECTED. WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON A WEEK AFTER SERVICE, ERROR CODE P2195 (BANK 1/SENSOR 1 LEAN) CAME UP, AND THEN WENT AWAY. I WAS TOLD IT WAS STILL SAFE TO DRIVE AND CONTINUED TO DO SO. I WAS ON MY WAY TO MY PARENTS' HOUSE FOR THANKSGIVING WITH THE INTENT TO STAY OVERNIGHT AND HAVE MY DAD WORK ON THE CAR IN THE MORNING WHEN THE CAR STALLED WITH A 3/4 FULL TANK OF GAS, DESPITE FORD'S ADVICE THAT THE CAR SHOULD BE SAFE TO OPERATE WITH MORE THAN A HALF TANK. MY AIR FILTER WAS REPLACED, AND 5 DAYS LATER THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN, SAME CODE. I SCHEDULED SERVICE WITH FORD, AND THEY VERIFIED THAT THE ENGINE CODE AND THE STALL ARE RELATED TO THE RECALL.

  3. Vehicle speed control, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Nov 26, 2018

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD FOCUS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE FLUCTUATED AND THE READINGS WERE INCONCLUSIVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY, CHECK ENGINE, AND OIL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SINCE MAY OF 2017. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATION. FURTHERMORE, UPON FILLING THE FUEL TANK, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SHAKE/TREMBLE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE STATIONARY. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES AND APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN AN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REMOVED THE FUEL TANK TO ASSESS THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. WALDORF FORD (2440 CRAIN HIGHWAY, WALDORF, MARYLAND 20601, (301) 843-2400) WAS MADE AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. 4. Electronic stability control (ESC), Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Oct 10, 2018

THE CAR IS OWN 3 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE FUEL EMISSION VALVES, THE COOLING SYSTEM, AND NOW THE UNAFFORDABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL, CATYLATTIC CONVERTER, AND TRANSMISSION CLUTCH HAVE GONE OUT TO WHERE MY CAR WONT CHANGE SPEEDS WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, NOR REVERSE.

  5. Electrical system, Electronic stability control (ESC), Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 26, 2018

MY CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE ON THE ROAD WHEN MY FOOT IS PRESSING DOWN ON GAS PEDAL BUT RPM INCREASES RESULTING IN STALLING IN MOTION LIKE CONDITIONS. IT IS VERY SCARY AND FRUSTRATING FOR ME AND MY OCCUPANTS THAT RIDE WITH ME TO WORK.

  6. Air bags, Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 26, 2018

GAS GADGET (AND MILES) WILL READ 1/2 TANK (200 OR SO MILE) AND WITH NO WARNINGS STALL (TURN OFF) EVEN ONCE PUTTING GAS IN VEHICLE HARD TO GET IT STARTED!ALSO AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON (MOST THE TIME) ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR HAS TO BE "SLAMMED" OR CLOSED HARD IN ORDER TO LATCH. I BOUGHT THIS CAR AS FIRST OWNER IN 2015! VERY DISAPPOINTED! I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE TURN OFF ON ME AT LEAST 5 TIMES EVEN WITH MY DISABLE SON WITH ME, I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT AND WE COULD'VE BEEN HURT OR WORSE!

  7. Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 11, 2018

I THINK I HAVE A FAULTY FUEL MODULATOR RELATED TO THE RECALL OF THE BOSCH FUEL PUMP SYSTEMS THAT'S AFFECTED THE 2014 FORD FOCUS AND THE 2015 VW'S. MY CAR WON'T START TURN OVER IMMEDIATELY AFTER FULL REFILL OF GAS TANK. I'VE NOTICED THAT GAS ACTUALLY SPILLS OUT UNDER THE CAR AFTER FILLING UP ALL THE WAY. OCASSIONALLY MY CAR ENGINE WILL STOP ENTIRELY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD! IT'S HAPPENED TWICE NOW WHEN SHIFTING INTO 1ST AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED IT'S THE FUEL MODULATOR AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE SAME ISSUE AS THE OTHER RECALLED UNITS. THANK YOU!

  8. Fuel/propulsion system, May 21, 2018

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR APPROXIMATELY A MILE AND A HALF BEFORE IT STALLED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED AT LEAST FIFTEEN TIMES DURING THE PAST MONTH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TWICE FOR THE STALLING FAILURE AND THE FUEL CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE RECENT FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,643.

  9. Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 25, 2018

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE AT A SERVICE STATION, I NOTICED GAS LEAKING ONTO THE PAVEMENT COMING FROM UNDERNIEGH THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL. AS I FURTHER INVESTIGATED THE PROBLEM I COULD SEE GAS DRAINING DOWN FROM THE FUEL PIPE THAT LEADS INTO THE GAS TANK. I DIDN'T WANT TO TRY AND START THE VEHICLE IN FEAR THAT THE GAS MIGHT REACH THE HOT EXHAUST SYSTEM AND CATCH ON FIRE. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE GAS FUELER PIPE HAD INDEED BROKE AND REPAIRED IT UNDER WARRANTY.

  10. Power train, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 21, 2017

ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, ENGINE HESITATING AND NOT ACCELERATING IMMEDIATELY. HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER TWICE AND BOTH TIME SAID NOTHING IS WRONG. SAME ISSUES THAT IS PART OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. OCCURS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, EVERY TIME.

  11. Power train, Service brakes, Fuel/propulsion system, May 8, 2017

THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BUT DECELERATION WAS SIGNIFICANTLY DELAYED. THE STEERING SHUDDERED AND THE CAR JERKED FROM SIDE TO SIDE. FRONT END SHUDDERED REPEATEDLY.

  12. Vehicle speed control, Other or unspecified, Fuel/propulsion system, Apr 5, 2017

MY CAR STALLS SHAKES AND STUDDERS WHEN I ACCELERATE, EVEN AFTER I TURN THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF IT CONTINUES ,I'VE NEARLY BEEN REAR ENDED PLENTY OF TIMES. I DON'T FEEL SAFE AND EITHER DOES MY PASSENGERS AS AND I'M SURE THIS JERKING AS AND TIRE SPINNING WILL CAUSE OTHER PROBLEMS.

  13. Fuel/propulsion system, Feb 27, 2017

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE SERVICE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PURGE VALVE, FUEL PUMP, AND FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,650. UPDATED 06/21/17*LJ *CN

  14. Steering, Structure, Fuel/propulsion system, Dec 6, 2016

I RENTED A VEHICLE FROM ENTERPRISE RENT-A-CAR. I DID NOT RECEIVE THE VEHICLE I RESERVED AND PAID FOR. THREE OUT OF THE FOUR VEHICLES SET ASIDE FOR UBER DRIVERS WERE BADLY STAINED ON THE INSIDE AND NOT WASHED ON THE OUTSIDE. THE ONLY VEHICLE OPTION LEFT FOR ME TO DRIVE FOR UBER WAS A 2015 FORD FOCUS, WHICH WAS STAINED ON THE INSIDE AND NOT WASHED ON THE OUTSIDE. I TRIED TO ASK FOR A REFUND AND WAS TOLD I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR THE RENTAL AND WAS LOCKED INTO THE AGREEMENT AS AN UBER DRIVER. I ASKED FOR A BETTER VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY AT THE TIME FOR ME TO TRADE THE LAST VEHICLE OUT FOR. BASICALLY, I WAS STUCK WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CAR BEGINS TO JERK AS I ACCELERATE OR DRIVE. I INFORMED THE RENTAL CAR BRANCH, RENTAL CAR CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND THE RENTAL CAR CORPORATE OFFICE. NONE OF THESE DEPARTMENTS/DIVISIONS OF ENTERPRISE RENT-A-CAR SEEM TO BE CONCERNED REGARDING THE CONDITION OF THE CAR NOR HOW IT FUNCTIONS. MY UBER PASSENGERS (ESP. MALE PASSENGERS) HAVE BROUGHT IT TO MY ATTENTION THAT IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AND THAT I NEED TO GET IT FIXED. I HAVE ESCALATED THE MATTER TO UBER SO THEY ARE AWARE THAT ENTERPRISE IS NOT MAINTAINING THE CARS DESIGNATED FOR UBER DRIVERS NOR MEETING THEIR STANDARDS. I HAVE CONTACTED ENTERPRISE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS TO BE PUT IN ANOTHER CAR OR GET MY MONEY BACK AND THEY WILL NOT TAKE OWNERSHIP FOR THEIR WRONGDOING NOR RECTIFY THE SITUATION. THE CONDITION OF THE CAR AND HOW IT RUNS HAS AFFECTED MY UBER DRIVER RATINGS, INTERFERED WITH ME GETTING RIDE REQUEST, AND PROHIBITED ME FROM MEETING MY UBER DRIVER RIDE QUOTA FOR THE WEEK. I TOOK THE CAR TO AN UBER VEHICLE INSPECTION LOCATION WHERE THE CAR FAILED INSPECTION. UBER WAS NOT HAPPY WITH ENTERPRISE PROVIDING ME WITH AN UNSAFE VEHICLE.

  15. Fuel/propulsion system, Oct 20, 2015
