TCM and electrical transmission grounded out TCM IN MY RESEARCH a lot of people are having issues with these. Dealers are of no help “backordered” so having to rebuild them. This is an expensive failure!
Electrical system, Jul 31, 2023
While driving on Saturday, July 29th, I went to make a right turn @ intersection of Nottingham Way onto Ledo Rd. The vehicle started jerking and suddenly shutoff. I had no power steering, No power brakes. I had to manually steer and stop the truck into the median, while avoiding oncoming traffic. I got the vehicle to stop. I tried to restart and the engine turned over, but would not start. I contacted the local Chevrolet dealership, and was told they don't work on anything older than 2013 vehicles. I had the truck towed to the house. After further investigation, there was a service bulletin 14515B, that replaced 14515A. The Safety recall stated CHASSIS ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE INTERNAL CONTAMINATION. So GM is aware of this issue, that could have caused an accident. The local dealership is denying that my truck is involved in this recall. They knew of the problem and never contacted me about this issue. This is a severe SAFETY issue. GM should be responsible for repairing a defective Control module as they knew of contamination as of January 2015. This almost cause multiple head on collisions.

Dashboard instrument panel all lights and gauges goes out while driving down the road when vehicle is turned off a clicking noise is made in the dash. This issue causes when driving down the road, not knowing the speed because the speedometer is out or how much gas the vehicle has, or any other readings, and at night all lights go out, not able to see while driving down the road.

I PURCHASED MY TRUCK ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO AND IT HAD 32,00 MILES ON IT, IT NOW HAS 40,000 MILES. EVERYTHING WAS FINE WITH IT UNTIL ABOUT MID-APRIL. I WAS DRIVING TO KALAMAZOO TO SEE MY DAUGHTER ON I-94 AROUND 72 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. I TURNED ON MY LEFT TURN SIGNAL TO CHANGE LANES TO PASS THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME AND TO MY DISMAY MY SPEED DROPPED DRASTICALLY AS THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES ON THE WAY TO KALAMAZOO THAT DAY. IT ALSO GOT WORSE ON THIS TRIP, SOMETIMES THE DOOR LOCKS WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK, ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD TURNED ON AND OFF AND EVERY TIME ANYTHING HAPPENED THE SPEED DROPPED, WHICH TO ME IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE PART OF A RECALL. WHEN I GOT HOME THE NEXT DAY, I CALLED LEVALLEY GMC TO TAKE A LOOK AT MY TRUCK (WHERE IT'S BEEN SERVICED SINCE PURCHASE). WHEN I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO THEM, THEY CLAIMED THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT. THAT'S STRANGE BECAUSE IF THIS SITUATION IS GOOGLED, THERE IS A LOT OF INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT COULD BE WRONG. LO AND BEHOLD A DAY AND A HALF LATER MY TRUCK WAS FIXED AT A COST OF $1069.71 FOR DIAGNOSIS AND 3 CABLES, ALL POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLES. I CONSIDER THIS SITUATION A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I SENT A LETTER TO GM CUSTOMER SERVICE. LOU CONTACTED ME AND LEFT A VOICE MAIL WITH CASE NUMBER 8-4206988703 (6/4/18). I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SPOKE WITH TONI ALSO 6/4/18. TONI REVIEWED THE CASE AND ASKED WHAT I WAS REQUESTING. I TOLD HER THAT THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY MATTER THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AND I WOULD LIKE TO BE COMPENSATED SOMEHOW. TONI STATED THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS SITUATION AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT SHE CAN DO. I TOLD HER MAYBE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND I AGAIN STATED THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE

VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY SHOW A WARNING SIGNAL FOR STABILTRACK TURNING OFF. THEN IT WILL CYCLE DOOR LOCKS UP AND DOWN, TURN ON THE AIR BAG LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, AND SOMETIMES REDUCE POWER TO 20 MPH. IT WILL ALSO KILL THE VEHICLE GAUGES. NUMEROUS TRIPS TO THE SHOP HAVE FAILED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH OF STABILTRACK 2009 CHEVY/GMC WILL SHOW A TON OF HITS. DUE TO THE SAFETY CONCERNS OF THESE CRITICAL SYSTEMS POWERING DOWN, THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS OCCURS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, WHICH MAKES IT MORE CONCERNING. THIS ISSUE STARTED WITH 66K MILES AND HAS PERSISTED. VEHICLE NOW HAS 96K.

MY TRUCK DIED IN TRAFFIC BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET STARTED AND HOME (2 MILES). MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I AM READING A CODE U0191, WHICH REFERS TO THE FUEL PUMP FLOW CONTROL MODULE. I HAD TO PURCHASE A BATTERY BECAUSE I HAD A BATTERY DRAINING ISSUE AND WAS HAVING TO JUMP IT IF IT SAT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. MY TRUCK WILL NOT START AT THIS TIME. AFTER DOING SOME CHECKING, BOTH MY FUEL PUMP AND FUEL FLOW MODULE FUSES ARE HOT EVEN WITH THE TRUCK IGNITION OFF. WHICH WOULD INDICATE A SHORT IN THE SYSTEM. AFTER SOME RESEARCH , I FOUND A SAFETY RECALL THAT DESCRIBES THE EXACT ISSUE BUT MY VIN DOESN'T COME UP IN THE RECALL. RECALL BULLETIN # 14515B . I GUESS WHAT I AM ASKING IS WHY WASN'T MY VEHICLE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL? APPARENTLY THIS IS AFFECTING MORE VEHICLES THAT WHAT THE RECALL INCLUDED.

I'M HAVING ELECTRICAL/COMPUTER PROBLEMS THAT STARTED OVER A YEAR AGO AND CONTINUE TO INCREASE. FIRST, MY SPEAKERS GO OFF AND ON AS THEY PLEASE. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SPEAKER IS THE ONLY ONE THAT STAYS ON CONSISTENTLY, AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HITTING BUMPS OR ANYTHING ELSE. SECOND, MY POWER LOOKS HAVE GONE OUT. MY KEY FOB WILL STILL WORK THEM AND THEY STILL LOCK AND UNLOCK WHEN TRUCK IS MOVED BETWEEN PARK AND DRIVE. BUT THE BUTTONS ON THE DOOR DO NOT WORK. I'VE REPLACED ALL THE FUSES, AND STILL, NOTHING. THIRD, MY CRUISE CONTROL IS GOING OUT. ON A LONG DRIVE I USED IT FOR HALF AND THEN THE OTHER HALF IT WOULDN'T EVEN TRY TO COME BACK ON. A FEW DAYS LATER IT WORKED AGAIN. *TR

I GOT OUT OF MY TRUCK, HAD LEFT THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION, WALKED OVER TO GET SOMETHING OFF THE GROUND AND HEARD THE HORN BLOW. I WALKED BACK OVER TO THE TRUCK TO GET BACK IN AND IT WAS LOCKED. I CALLED ON STAR AND THEY COULDN'T UNLOCK IT SO THEY HAD TO SEND A LOCK-OUT SERVICE TO UNLOCK THE TRUCK. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST FIVE TIMES IN THE PAST THREE YEARS, THREE IN WHICH ON STAR HAD UNLOCKED IT. *TR

I' M WRITING IN TOO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE DASHBOARD CLUSTER ON MY 2009 GMC SIERRA. I SEE THAT A RECALL ALONG WITH A LAWSUIT WITH THIS SAME ISSUE WAS SUBMITTED. I HAVE BEEN GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH GMC ON THIS ISSUE SINCE 2011. THEY STATED IT WAS A FUSE AND REPLACED THE FUSE , BUT MY DASHBOARD ALONG WITH ALL THE GAUGES GO OUT EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS. I WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS BUT OBVIOUSLY THEY DID. THIS ISSUE WAS NOTED AFTER A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WAS FILED. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED IN 2011. THE LAST TIME MY DASHBOARD WENT OUT (WHILE DRIVING) WAS 10/14/2014. *TR
Electrical system, Sep 4, 2014
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD REMAIN ON AFTER THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.

Electrical system, Electronic stability control (ESC), Engine, Jun 10, 2014
ABOUT 2 MONTHS AFTER WE PURCHASED OUR PRE-OWNED 2009 GMC SIERRA DENALI WE STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE POWER AND ALL SENSORS GOING OFF. THE SENSORS START GOING OFF THE STABILITY CONTROL CUTS OFF IT SAYS ENGINE POWER REDUCED THEN DOESN'T WANT TO SHIFT AND KILLS IN MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. IT WILL DO IT FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN JUST STARTS WORKING RIGHT AGAIN. SO WE NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN OR WHERE WE WILL BE. IT'S LIKE IT'S NOT RUNNING ON ALL CYLINDERS. *TR

THE POWER DOOR LOCKS WON'T LOCK AND UNLOCK. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED ONE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM AT MY COST. NOW A SECOND LOCK WON'T FUNCTION. THIS IS WELL KNOWN BY GM. THEY REFUSE TO RECALL IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. GM NEEDS TO REPAIR THESE DOOR LOCKS. *TR
Electrical system, Structure, Latches/locks/linkages, Sep 16, 2013
MY DRIVER'S DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR HAS BEGUN WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. THIS IS THE SECOND DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR ON MY VEHICLE TO FAIL, THE FIRST WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AND THE GM MECHANIC TOLD ME THEY HAVE REPLACED NUMEROUS ACTUATORS. THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS ALL DOORS WHEN DRIVEN AND UNLOCKS WHEN STOPPED HOWEVER THE FAULTY ACTUATOR DOES NOT ALWAYS LOCK OR UNLOCK. THESE ACTUATORS HAVE A LONG HISTORY OF BEING DEFECTIVE AND GM IS AWARE OF IT BUT REFUSES TO RECALL THE FAULTY ACTUATOR EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE LITERALLY REPLACED THOUSANDS OF THESE UNITS. THESE FAULTY ACTUATORS ARE A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT A DOOR COULD FAIL TO UNLOCK EFFECTIVELY TRAPPING THE OCCUPANTS. THE FAULTY ACTUATORS ARE ALSO A SECURITY CONCERN BECAUSE THEY COULD FAIL TO SECURE THE VEHICLE ALLOWING ANYONE ACCESS TO IT'S CONTENTS. *TR
