Seat belts, frontApr 8, 2021
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have received an incorrect replacement tensioner cable assembly as part of a previous recall remedy or a subsequent repair. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.
A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver seat belt lap pretensioner, free of charge. The recall began on May 5, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212330040.

Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, wheel speed sensor/tone ringOct 24, 2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.
Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

Service brakes, hydraulic, power assist, vacuumSep 6, 2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade, 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon vehicles. The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time.
As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began October 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192268490.

EquipmentApr 26, 2018
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD, 2009 GMC Topkick 5000, 6000, 7000 and 8000 Series and Isuzu F Series, and 2009-2018 Chevrolet Express, and GMC Savana vehicles, equipped with certain Plastic-Handle Fire Extinguishers or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf
In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde to get a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began June 11, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, and Isuzu customer service at 1-866-441-9638. GM's number for this recall is 18146.

Air bags, frontalJul 10, 2017
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.
A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. Steering, electric power assist systemJun 29, 2017
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles. The vehicles may have a temporary loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist, especially during low-speed turning maneuvers.
If EPS assist is lost and then returns, the driver might lose temporary control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the EPS module software, free of charge. The recall began on August 10, 2017. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-432-8782. GM's number for this recall is 17276.

In the affected vehicles, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

Seat beltsApr 12, 2016
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks manufactured January 29, 2013, to January 21, 2015. While entering the vehicle, the seat belt tensioner cable may be positioned such that the driver slides over it. This movement may result in the fatigue and separation of the cable.
If the tensioner cable separates, the driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will modify the vehicles to prevent the tensioner from being damaged. Any tensioner that has already been damaged will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on August 11, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 15822.

I HAVE RETURNED MY GMC CREW CAB SIERRA 2014 TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES BECAUSE OF INADEQUATE HEADLIGHTS. THE FIRST TIME THEY SERVICE DEPT. READJUSTED THEM WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. THE THIRD TIME BACK THE BULBS WERE REPLACED PER A BULLETIN AND BCM REPROGRAMMED. STILL NO IMPROVEMENT ESPECIALLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE. THE FOURTH TIME I HAD MY INTELLIGENCE INSULTED WHEN THE SERVICE ADVISER TOLD ME IT WAS BECAUSE THE GARAGE DOOR HE SHONE THEM ON WAS DIRTIER ON THE RIGHT SIDE. WHAT AN EXCUSE AND ONLY A FOOL WOULD INSULT HIS OWN INTELLIGENCE WITH THAT REMARK. THE FIFTH TIME BACK THE PARTS MANAGER HAD ORDERED A NEW BULB FOR THE RIGHT SIDE AND WAS CONSEQUENTLY REPLACED A SECOND TIME. I WROTE A CERTIFIED LETTER THEN TO GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS CONTACTED BY MARK 1-866-522-0300 EXT.#5921569. HE SAID I WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND LEAVE IT SO THEY COULD DRIVE IT AT NITE. I DID THAT AND IT WAS DRIVEN BY PAUL AND UPON CONTACTING HIM THIS AM HE TOLD ME THE LOW BEAMS WERE ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE AND OVERALL THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE TRUCK WERE AS LOUSY AS ALL THE 2014 AND 15 TRUCKS ARE. UPON PICKING THE TRUCK UP THIS AFTERNOON THE SAME REDICULIS SERVICE ADVISOR (WALLY) TOLD ME THAT HE DIDN'T DRIVE IT AND PAUL DID AND TOLD HIM THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE LIGHTS. WHO IS THE LIAR? ISINCERELY BELIEVE IT IS WALLY BECAUSE HE IS BOUND AND DETERMINED NOT TO FIX IT. THE HIGH BEAMS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE WHAT THE LOW BEAMS SHOULD BE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A $53000 TRUCK SHOULD HAVE SAFE HEADLIGHTS. ON LOW BEAM THERE IS A BLACK CURTAIN ONLY A FEW FEET FROM THE HOOD AND GOING DOWNHILL THAT BLACK IS ALMOST AT THE END OF THE HOOD. I HAVE OVER THE PAST 18 MONTHS TALKED TO FOUR GM REPS AT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER, WITH THE THIRD ONE TELLING SHE WOULD MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO REPLACE THE LIGHT SYSTEM WITH THE 2016 SYSTEM. SHE CALLED THE DEALER SETTING IT UP AND THEN NEVER FOLLOWED THROUGH.

I HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALER 3 TIMES FOR CLUNKING DURING SHIFTING AND LOSING POWER BETWEEN 30-45 MPH WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT GMC SAYS THIS IS NORMAL FOR MY TRUCK. IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR THESE PROBLEMS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND IT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS A PROBLEM WITH THE ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM CONTROLLED BY THE COMPUTER MODULE TO ACHIEVE EXPECTED GAS MILEAGE DEMANDED BY THE GOVERNMENT. I PAID $42,000 DOLLARS FOR THIS TRUCK BRAND NEW. I SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THIS OCCUR. I OWNED A 1995 GMC EXTENDED CAB THAT IS STILL ON THE ROAD WITH 215,000 MILES. THIS TRUCK HAS ONLY 23,000 MILES AFTER 2 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE AND THE VEHICLE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS AFTER THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,000.

THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DISABLE THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER, BUT THE ISSUE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

THE HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH FOR NIGHT DRIVING ON COUNTRY ROADS WITHOUT STREET LIGHTS, ON BRIGHT OR DIM MODE. THESE ARE THE WORSE HEADLIGHTS ON ANY CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED, I PERSONALLY HAVE BOUGHT 4 BRAND NEW GMC PICKUPS, THIS IS THE WORSE. I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT TEST DRIVING AT NIGHT, I TRUSTED THEM, WRONG!

VEHICLE WILL LOSE POWER AND SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, WHILE IN REVERSE I HAVE HAD THE STEERING WHEEL RIPPED OUT OF MY HANDS. RANDOM ERROR MESSAGES ON DIC, RANDOM STARTING ISSUES. TAKEN TO SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES, THEY CANNOT FIND AN ISSUE.

THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN FROM GM ABOUT FRAME RUST ON ALL GMC 2014 1500 SIERRA AND CHEVY 2014 SILVERADO 1500 LIGHT DUTY PICK UP TRUCKS. THE FRAMES AND SOME IMPORTANT BOLTS ARE HIGHLY RUSTED. THEY ONLY TOUCH-UP SPOTS THEY CAN ACCESS AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE FACILITY WHERE THEY WERE PRODUCED USED A POOR QUALITY WAXY PAINT COATING. THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT GUARANTEE A COMPLETE SOLUTION FOR THIS FRAME RUST. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE OF THE LIFE OF THE TRUCK. THE FRAME COULD DECAY AND THE BOLTS CAN BREAK OFF. THIS IS NOT FAIR FOR A $40,000 TO $60,000 TRUCK. YOU CAN SPOT THE RUST RIGHT FROM THE DEALERSHIP NEW TRUCK LOT. I READ ON THE GM TRUCK FORUM ON THE INTERNET HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF THESE TRUCKS HAVE THIS ISSUE. I WILL FEEL VERY UNSAFE DRIVING THIS TRUCK A FEW YEARS FROM NOW. THERE ARE SOME PHOTOS OF A FEW RUSTED AREAS IN THE GM SERVICE BULLETIN WHICH YOU OBTAIN.

BOUGHT BRAND NEW 2014 GMC SIERRA 1500 , 622678 MILES, AIR CONDITIONING AC NOT BLOWING COLD AIR, THEY SAID IT'S ELECTRICAL AND WANT US TO PAY OVER $200.00 TO FIX IT.
Exterior lighting, Apr 28, 2016
HEADLIGHTS ARE DIM AND HORRIBLE. VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE MY TRUCK AT NIGHT. LIGHTING IS EXTREMELY SUB STANDARD COMPARED TO ALL OF THE OTHER TRUCKS ON THE MARKET AND ROADWAYS. THIS NEEDS ADDRESSED ASAP BEFORE PEOPLE GET KILLED. GMC DOESNT SEEM TO CARE ABOUT THESE ISSUES.
Exterior lighting, Apr 25, 2016
HEAD LIGHTS ARE SUBSTANDARD AND UNSAFE ON THIS VEHICLE. IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE FASTER THAN 40 MPH ON LOW BEAM AND NOT MUCH BETTER ON HIGH BEAM. WHEN TURNING 90 DEGREES YOU ARE TURNING IN TO THE DARK.
Exterior lighting, Apr 25, 2016
HEAD LIGHT DON'T OFFER ENOUGH LIGHTING AT NIGHT
Exterior lighting, Apr 21, 2016
HEADLIGHTS ARE EXTREMELY DIM, EVEN ON THE HIGH-BEAM SETTING. MAKES IT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO OPERATE AT NIGHT AND I WILL NOT DRIVE IT AT NIGHT UNLESS IT'S AN EMERGENCY DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE.
Exterior lighting, Apr 17, 2016
THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS TRUCK ARE TERRIBLE, BOTH LACK OF SIDE PROJECTION AND FRONT PROJECTION ARE UNSAFE ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING IN RURAL AREAS OR DURING WET ROAD CONDITIONS. I HAVE HAD THE BCM UPDATE AND NEW BULBS INSTALLED FROM GMC BUT THIS OFFERED VERY LITTLE IMPROVEMENT. DRIVING WITH THE FOG LAMPS ON OFFER THE ONLY LATERAL VISION TO SEE TURNING ANY CORNER.
Exterior lighting, Apr 14, 2016
THE VEHICLE LIGHTS ARE VERY DIM EVEN WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT CAN BARELY SEE IN FRONT OF ME. THESE ARE A HAZARD TO ME AND OTHERS, SINCE NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE A GOOD DISTANCE IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE MAKES HARD TO SEE PEDESTRIANS, ANIMALS OR DEBRIS IN THE ROAD AT NIGHT.
Steering, Electrical system, Electronic stability control (ESC), Mar 24, 2016
THERE IS A EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ELECTRICS ISSUE WITH MY 2014 GMC SIERRA 1500 ALL TERRAIN. IN THE LAST 18 MONTHS MY TRUCK HAS LOCKED THE STEERING AT LOW SPEED WHILE TURNING 8 TIMES. (I COULD HAVE EASILY BROKEN A FINGER A LOST CONTROL OF MY TRUCK) .ON 5 OF THE TIMES I HAD STEERING ISSUE THE TRUCK HAD NO POWER TO ANYTHING INCLUDING KEY FOBS FOR A PERIOD OF 10 TO 15 MINUTES. THEN THE TRUCK WILL POWER UP AGAIN. FORTUNATELY THESE ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED AT LOW SPEED. THIS HAS HAPPEN 8 TIMES IN THE LAST 18 MONTHS . IT HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE REGARDING THIS ISSUE THEY CHANGED THE BATTERY AFTER ONLY 18 MONTHS (10/2015) THE ISSUE OCCUR AGAIN 2 DAYS AGO WHILE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH MY TRUCK SHUT DOWN NO POWER THEN IN LESS THAN A SECOND IT POWERED UP AGAIN ALL THE SETTING ON MY RADIO, CLIMATE CONTROL CHANGED.THAT DAY I STOPPED TO GET GAS GOT BACK IN MY TRUCK PULLED AWAY FROM THE PUMP THE STEERING LOCKED TRUCK SHUT DOWN AGAIN FOR 20 MINUTES. THIS TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT A DEALERSHIP THEY STILL CAN NOT DIAGNOS THE ISSUE. I'M EXTREMLY CONCERN THAT SOMEONE COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED IF THIS WAS TO HAPPEN WHILE OPERATING THIS TRUCK. I DID SEE THAT MAY OTHER OWNER OF GMC SIERRA HAVE EXPRESSED SIMILAR CONCERNS. THE ISSUES NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. AS FOR MYSELF I PLAN TO THIS TRUCK AFTER THE DEALERSHIP ATTEMPTS ANOTHER REPAIR.
Steering, Air bags, Electronic stability control (ESC), Mar 24, 2016, crash
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED HEAD ON INTO THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SEVERE WHIPLASH AND A CONCUSSION, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND SENT AN ENGINEER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. SHORTLY AFTER, WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE STABILITRAC WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED. THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT ALL THE STEERING ELECTRONIC SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
Exterior lighting, Mar 8, 2016
CAN NOT SEE THE ROAD WITH THE LIGHT OUTPUT WITH THESE FACTORY HEADLIGHT
Exterior lighting, Mar 7, 2016
FROM THE FACTORY THE HEADLIGHTS THAT COME ON THIS VEHICLE ARE SUB-STANDARD AND A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN OPERATING AT NIGHT. NOT ONLY IS LIGHT OUTPUT POOR, BUT THE WIDTH OF THE BEAM IS HORRIBLE. WHEN TURNING AT NIGHT THERE IS ZERO COVERAGE AND YOU HAVE TO MAKE YOUR TURN WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO SEE PROPERLY. THESE PROBLEMS PERSIST AT ANY TIME HEADLIGHTS NEED TO BE UTILIZED.
Exterior lighting, Mar 6, 2016
HEAD LIGHTS ARE VERY DIM AND I CAN NOT SAFELY SEE THE PATH I AM TRAVELING. AN UPGRADE WAS PERFORMED AT THE DEALERSHIP WHICH HELPED SOMEWHAT BUT I STILL CAN NOT SAFELY SEE THE PATH I AM TRAVELING. I DREAD DRIVING THIS TRUCK AT NIGHT AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE DOING SO.
Exterior lighting, Mar 6, 2016
THE HEADLIGHTS ARE TOO DIM AND ARE UNSAFE. IN MY 50+ YEARS OF DRIVING, I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED HEADLIGHTS SO BAD. I LIVE IN A DARK RURAL AREA WITHOUT ANY STREETLIGHTS AND LOTS OF BICYCLISTS AND DEER. I HAVE ALREADY HAD MANY NEAR MISSES ON RURAL ROADS, AND FEAR IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE AN ACCIDENT HAPPENS.
