Recalls and investigations

  1. Seat belts, frontApr 8, 2021

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have received an incorrect replacement tensioner cable assembly as part of a previous recall remedy or a subsequent repair. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.

A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver seat belt lap pretensioner, free of charge. The recall began on May 5, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212330040.

  2. Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, wheel speed sensor/tone ringOct 24, 2019

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.

Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

  3. Service brakes, hydraulic, power assist, vacuumSep 6, 2019

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade, 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon vehicles. The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time.

As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began October 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192268490.

  4. EquipmentApr 26, 2018

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD, 2009 GMC Topkick 5000, 6000, 7000 and 8000 Series and Isuzu F Series, and 2009-2018 Chevrolet Express, and GMC Savana vehicles, equipped with certain Plastic-Handle Fire Extinguishers or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

GM will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde to get a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began June 11, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, and Isuzu customer service at 1-866-441-9638. GM's number for this recall is 18146.

  5. Air bags, frontalJul 10, 2017

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 17287.

  6. Steering, electric power assist systemJun 29, 2017

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles. The vehicles may have a temporary loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist, especially during low-speed turning maneuvers.

If EPS assist is lost and then returns, the driver might lose temporary control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the EPS module software, free of charge. The recall began on August 10, 2017. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-432-8782. GM's number for this recall is 17276.

  7. Air bags, frontalSep 8, 2016

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, 3500 HD, Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade and Cadillac Escalade ESV vehicles and 2014-2017 Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500, Trax, Caprice Police Pursuit Vehicle, GMC Sierra 1500, Buick Encore, and 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse, Chevrolet Spark EV and SS vehicles. In the affected vehicles, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test.

The recall began on October 13, 2016. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. 8. Seat beltsApr 12, 2016

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks manufactured January 29, 2013, to January 21, 2015. While entering the vehicle, the seat belt tensioner cable may be positioned such that the driver slides over it. This movement may result in the fatigue and separation of the cable.

If the tensioner cable separates, the driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will modify the vehicles to prevent the tensioner from being damaged. Any tensioner that has already been damaged will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on August 11, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 15822.

The overheated exhaust components may melt nearby plastic parts and may result in an engine fire.

General Motors will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the engine control module, free of charge. The recall began on January 16, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 and GMC at 1-800-462-8782. General Motors' number for this recall is 14008.

I TRADED A 2011 GMC SIERRA ON THIS 2014 GMC SIERRA (SLE / DOUBLE CAB / 4.3L V6), PLUS STILL HAVE A 2012 GMC SIERRA, AND THE LIGHTS ON THESE 2 WHEN COMPARED TO THE 2014 GMC WERE / ARE LIKE NIGHT AND DAY - THE 2014 GMC SIERRA IS POSITIVELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT - LIGHTS ARE DISGUSTING - HIGH BEAM ON 2014 GMC IS WORSE THAN LOW BEAM ON MY EARLIER GMC SIERRA'S. TOOK COPY OF "CARCOMPLAINT.COM" REPORT ON HEADLIGHT PROBLEM TO DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY SAID GM HAS NOT PROVIDED THEM WITH ANY INFO' OF "SUPPOSED" PROBLEM, NOR CAN THEY OFFER A SOLUTION. HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM 3 TIMES - NO ACTION, AN NO CONCERN EITHER, IN MY OPINION.

  2. Exterior lighting, Nov 9, 2015

HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT ADEQUATE FOR NIGHT DRIVING: HAVE DRIVEN THIS TRUCK FOR THE PAST YEAR AT NIGHT AND IN DIFFERENT TYPES OF WEATHER AND HAVE HAD TO REALLY STRAIN MY EYES TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD DUE TO POOR VISIBILITY DUE TO THE HEAD LIGHTS, AFTER MISSING A TURN LAST NIGHT OFF THE HIGHWAY DECIDED TO SEE IF THE DEALERSHIP WOULD TAKE A LOOK AT THEM AND SEE WHAT THEY COULD DO ,IF THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO ,ILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO INSTALL DIFFERENT HEADLIGHTS .

  3. Exterior lighting, Nov 7, 2015

THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS TRUCK SUCK THEY ARE DIM EVEN ON HIGH BEAMS GOING UP A TWISTY MOUNTAIN ROAD AT NIGHT IS LIKE TAKING YOUR LIFE IN YOUR OWN HANDS NOT SAFE AT ALL.

  4. Exterior lighting, Structure, Nov 6, 2015

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE DIM AND PROVIDED POOR VISIBILITY. THE FAILURE WAS WORSE IN RAINY CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE LIGHTS LACKED VOLUME; HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT OFFER ANY REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000. UPDATED 02/12/16*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE TAIL GATE ALLOWED DIRT TO ENTER INSIDE THE TRUCK. UPDATED 03/03/16

  5. Other or unspecified, Nov 3, 2015

THE FACTORY SUPPLIED RUNNING BOARDS HAVE TREADS THAT FAIL TO PROVIDE ANY TRACTION FOR FEET WHILE ENTERING OR EXITING. THE TREADS NEED TO BE ROTATED 90 DEGREES AND MADE OF A SOFTER RUBBER WITH A DEEPER AND MORE AGGRESSIVE TREAD PATTERN. AS THEY EXIST THEY ARE VERY SLIPPERY ESPECIALLY WHEN WET OR FROZEN. GIVEN THE ADDED HEIGHT OF TRUCKS IT REQUIRES SOME USE OF THE RUNNING BOARDS TO ENTER/EXIT THE TRUCK. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE 68. AS DESIGNED AND MANUFACTURED THEY ARE ACTUALLY AN ACCELERANT IN SLIPPING FEET. I FEEL THEY ARE OF DEFECTIVE DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE AND COULD/SHOULD BE MADE SAFER. I FELL THREE TIMES IN THE PAST MONTHS WHILE EXITING MY SIERRA 1500.

  6. Steering, Nov 2, 2015

IGNITION STEERING KEY LOCK SOUNDS LIKE IT'S BREAKING DURING THE TINE YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO UNLOCK KIT WHEN STOPPED. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE

  7. Suspension, Nov 1, 2015

REGARDING 2014 GMC SIERRA 6 CYLINDER FULL SIZE PICKUP. VEHICLE VIBRATES AS IF RUNNING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS AT APX 1500 RPM. LOCAL GM SERVICE CENTER AND GM CORPORATE REPRESENTATIVE STATED ABOVE IS NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATION. LOCAL GM SERVICE CENTER CORRECTLY SUGGESTED THAT TRUCK BE DRIVEN FASTER OR SLOWER TO PREVENT VIBRATION OR THAT VEHICLE BE DRIVEN IN 5TH GEAR RATHER THAN OVERDRIVE 6TH GEAR TO PREVENT VIBRATION. IF VEHICLE IS NOR DRIVEN FASTER OR SLOWER TO GET OUT OF VIBRATION RANGE, THE TRUCK WILL VIBRATE ENDLESSLY. 2014 GMC SIERRA IS AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. NEEDING TO SPEED UP OR SLOW DOWN TO PREVENT VIBRATION SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES RISK FOR MVA. NEEDING TO DRIVE IN 5TH GEAR RATHER THAN 6TH GEAR REDUCES GAS MILEAGE AS REPORTED TO NHSTA. LOCAL MECHANICS HAVE COMMENTED THAT THE ABOVE VIBRATION COMPLAINT IS COMMON TO 2014 6 CYLINDER GMC/CHEVY FULL SIZE PICKUP TRUCKS AND THAT THE VIBRATION MAY BE SECONDARY TO CYLINDER DEACTIVATION AND CHASSIS RIGIDITY. IT CERTAINLY WOUND BE A SHAME FOR A COLLISION TO OCCUR OR FOR A PEDESTRIAN TO GET RUN OVER BY A DRIVER OF A 2014 GMC/CHEVY FULL SIZE PICKUP WHO HAD TO SPEED UP OR SLOW DOWN TO REDUCE EXCESSIVE VIBRATION AT APX 1500 RPM

  8. Exterior lighting, Oct 24, 2015

THE HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM THAT IT MAKES DRIVING IN DARK CONDITIONS INBREEDING DANGEROUS, EVEN AT LOW SPEEDS THE ILLUMINATION IS UNACCEPTABLE.

  9. Steering, Electrical system, Service brakes, Oct 23, 2015

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND VEERED INDEPENDENTLY. IN ADDITION, SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL AFTER DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE STABILITY TRAC, AND THE SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A EXCESSIVE VOLTAGE DROP RESULTED IN A LOSS OF POWER WITH THE MANUAL TRAILER BRAKE, THE BCM, ELECTRONIC BCM, ECM, STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,416.

  10. Electrical system, Oct 13, 2015

THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS TRUCK PROVIDE INADEQUATE LIGHTING, INCLUDING BOTH LOW BEAMS AND HIGH BEAMS. ANY NIGHT DRIVING IS DIFFICULT DUE TO LIMITED VISIBILITY, THERE SIMPLY IS NOT ENOUGH ILLUMINATION TO SEE. CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS - ESPECIALLY AT SPEEDS ABOVE 35 MPH OR DURING PRECIPITATION. THE HEADLIGHT HAS A SEVERE DESIGN FLAW WITH GMS SAYS IS A SHUTTER SYSTEM. THIS TYPE OF DESIGN DOES NOT LEAVE ANY OPTIONS FOR SIMPLY CHANGING THE TYPE OF BULB - THE DESIGN IS ACTUALLY AT FAULT FOR THE POOR VISIBILITY. THE VISIBILITY PROBLEMS SIMPLY CANNOT BE FIXED WITH A DIFFERENT BULB TYPE DUE TO THE SHUTTER DESIGN TYPE. THE NEED FROM A NEW HEADLIGHT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM. MANY COMPLAINTS ARE BEING REGISTERED ONLINE RELATED TO THE VISIBILITY PROBLEM. THESE TRUCKS ARE NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. IF THERE IS A STANDARD FOR MINIMUM HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATION FOR NIGHT TIME DRIVING, THIS MODEL HEADLIGHT NEEDS TO BE REVIEWED IF IT IS MEETING THE MINIMUM STANDARD. NOT SAFE, A DEFINITE PROBLEM THAT NEEDS ATTENTION.

  11. Suspension, Exterior lighting, Oct 11, 2015

VERY POOR LIGHTING AT NIGHT WITH HEADLIGHTS ON BOTH LOW BEAM OR HIGH.... VERY DANGEROUS IN RURAL AREAS... I HAVE TRIED NEW BULBS WITH NO LUCK... TRUCK SEEMS TO SIT LOW ON ONE SIDE LOOKING AT THE BACK EVEN ON FLAT SURFACES...

  12. Exterior lighting, Oct 8, 2015

    POOR LIGHTING ON HEADLIGHTS

  13. Other or unspecified, Oct 5, 2015

NO ACCIDENT HAS OCCURRED YET AS A RESULT OF THE FOLLOWING DEFICIENCY. HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2014 GMC SIERRA 1500 SLT ARE TOTALLY INADEQUATE ON HIGH OR LOW BEAM. THE LIGHTING DISTANCE IS INADEQUATE AND IS SO DIRECTIONAL THAT THERE IS NO SIDE FLAIR LIGHTING FOR TURNING LIKE YOU HAVE WITH CONVENTIONAL HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY BY THE NHTSA. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 1 1/2 YEARS AND THE PROBLEM IS ONGOING SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THE DEALER HAS NO SOLUTION.

  14. Power train, Wheels, Other or unspecified, Sep 17, 2015

VEHICLE HAS SHUDDER, WOBBLE AND VIBRATION WHEN BEING DRIVEN AT SPEEDS 40-80. GMC HAS DIAGNOSED AS A TIRE ISSUE BUT VEHICLE HAS BEEN SEEN 14+ TIMES AND TIRES HAVE ALL BEEN ROAD FORCE BALANCED, NUMEROUS TIMES. GMC REFUSES TO DIAGNOSE FURTHER AND HAS NOT IDENTIFIED THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. VIBRATION HAS AFFECTED OTHER COMPONENTS. COMMONLY REPORTED PROBLEM AFFECTING 2014 GMC SIERRA TRUCKS BASED ON INTERNET SEARCH.

  15. Exterior lighting, Sep 15, 2015

TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME I DROVE MY 2014 SIERRA TEXAS EDITION IN THE RAIN AT NIGHT.... WOW>>>>> I HAD TO STOP AND WAIT FOR THE RAIN DOWNPOUR TO LET OUT SO I COULD SEE WHERE I WAS GOING. NOT GOOD. DRIVING AT NIGHT IS VERY STRESSFULL AND EYE STRAINING TO THE POINT OF TAKING HEADACHE MEDICATIONS ONCE YOU ARE DONE DRIVING. ANY WAYT TO FIX THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PROBLEM? THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY HAZARD TO DRIVERS AND ANY OTHERS ON THE ROAD. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND RESOLVED ASAP. AND GM STILL SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. SO WHY ARE THEY CHANGING THE DESING ON THE 2016'S TRUCKS

  16. Other or unspecified, Equipment adaptive/mobility, Aug 17, 2015

THE BACKSEAT HEADRESTS DO NOT REMAIN IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. THEY SLIDE DOWN WITH THE SLIGHTEST CONTACT FROM THE PERSON'S HEAD. THE MAINTENANCE/SERVICE PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS. HE INDICATED THAT AT THIS TIME IT IS A "NO FIX" PROBLEM. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND DOES NOT MEET THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC BOARDS REGULATIONS ON HEADREST EQUIPMENT. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INDICATED THAT A LATCH NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED TO HOLD THE HEADREST IN PLACE. IF THIS IS NOT CORRECTED, PEOPLE WILL AT SOME POINT IN TIME SUSTAIN SERIOUS INJURY. I FEEL LIKE CONTACTING 60 MINUTES WITH THE PROBLEM AND YOUR RESPONSE.

  17. Electrical system, Exterior lighting, Equipment adaptive/mobility, Aug 17, 2015

CLOCK AND OUTSIDE AIR TEMP READINGS ARE SO SMALL, YOU CAN'T SEE THEM, WITHOUT TAKING YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD, LONG ENOUGH TO BEND OVER CLOSE TO THE RADIO. THIS IS AS BAD AS SOMEONE USING A CELL PHONE TO SEND AND RECEIVE TEXT. I HAVE DRIVEN OFF THE ROAD TWICE, BUT HAVE NOT CRASHED YET. MY GM DEALER SAYS, THE READINGS CAN NOT BE MADE LARGER, AND TO BE VERY CAREFUL.

  18. Exterior lighting, Aug 15, 2015

THE HEADLIGHTS IN THE VEHICLE ARE VERY DIM. THEY HAVE A PROJECTOR LIGHT IN THEM AND ONLY HAVE ONE BULB, THEY PROJECTOR MOVES WHEN SWITCHING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN BRIGHT AND DIMS. THE PROBLEM IS THERE'S ONE LITTLE YELLOW CIRCLE OUT IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK ABOUT 30 FEET, THE BRIGHTS DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, AND THERE IS NO LIGHTING TO THE SIDES OF THE TRUCK. THERE IS NO LIGHT ON THE CURB AND MAKING A TURN IS NOT ONLY DIFFICULT BUT ALSO UNSAFE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN 3 TIMES TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO HELP. I READ ONLINE THAT THERE IS AN UPDATE THAT SENDS MORE VOLTAGE TO THE HEADLIGHTS BUT THEY ALSO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THAT. THE LAST TIME THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T EVEN ALIGN THE LIGHTS BECAUSE I HAD PUT AFTERMARKET BULBS IN JUST TO BE ABLE TO SEE. THE FOG LIGHTS ARE TWICE AS BRIGHT AS THE HEADLIGHT, I'VE TOLD THEM THAT, CALLED THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER, TOLD THEM THAT, AND THEY DON'T SEEM TO CARE. I SEE ONLINE THAT IT IS A COMMON COMPLAINT AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. ALSO THE ONES LIKE MINE WITH THE VIBRATING SAFETY SEAT GET LOOSE, ALSO A COMMON COMPLAINT, AND THEY WON'T COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL.

  20. Air bags, Jul 20, 2015

WHILE SITTING PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH THE CAR IN PARK AND THE ENGINE IDLING, THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS ON MY 2014 GMC SIERRA DEPLOYED FOR NO IDENTIFIABLE REASON. GM HAS PROVIDED PART OF THE CRASH DETECTION REPORT DATA TO ME. THE VEHICLE EVENT SEVERITY STATUS: ROLLOVER INDICATES "YES". THE CDR ALSO SHOWS THAT THE VEHICLE'S SPEED WAS ZERO AND THE ENGINE WAS AT IDLE (512 RPM). AS NOTED, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A LEVEL SURFACE AND THERE WAS NO MOVEMENT OF THE VEHICLE OTHER THAN ANY MOVEMENT OF THE PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT ROLL AS IS EVIDENCED BY THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO EXTERNAL DAMAGE.

  21. Exterior lighting, Jul 10, 2015

THE HIGHLIGHTS ON THE 2014 SIERRA SLE ARE A HAZARD TO TRY TO DRIVE WITH AT NIGHT ONLY LIGHT UP 30-40 FEET IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE I GET MORE LIGHT FROM THE FOG LAMPS TO SEE BY

  22. Steering, Suspension, Other or unspecified, Jul 10, 2015

TRUCK VIBRATED NEW WITH 8 MILES WHEN WE FIRST DROVE IT HOME. PINPOINTED SPECIFIC SPEEDS AND RETURNED 9+ TIMES TO DEALERSHIP OVER 7 MONTHS. TIRES (TWICE), SHOCKS AND REAR END WERE ALL REPLACED BUT DID NOT STOP VIBRATION. 5 MONTHS FROM PURCHASE WE WERE FOLLOWED BY A NEIGHBOR AND THEY SAW MY TRUCK "DOG TRACKING" (TRAVELING SIDEWAYS DOWN THE ROAD). DEALER NOTED BUT WOULD NOT FOLLOW AT DISTANCE AND SPEED REQUIRED TO WITNESS THE "DOG TRACKING". DEALER TOLD ME THEY WERE CLUELESS AND COME GET THE TRUCK. LOCAL AUTO REPAIR SHOP FOLLOWED ME AND SAID THERE IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM. FRONT CENTER OF WHEEL TO BACK CENTER OF WHEEL MEASURES 1/2 INCH LESS ON DRIVER SIDE THAN PASSENGER SIDE BUT DEALER SAYS THAT IS NOT A GOOD MEASUREMENT BECAUSE THEIR COMPUTER SAYS EVERYTHING IS FINE. THIS TRUCK VIBRATES AND "DOG TRACKS" AND DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO MAKE PROPER OFFER AND HAS GIVEN UP ON REPAIR ATTEMPTS. I AM PRESENTLY SEEKING HELP FROM A DIFFERENT DEALER.

2014 GMC SIERRA 1500. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS DESIGN PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE DISCOVERED THE HEADLIGHTS ONLY HAD ONE BULB, WHICH MEANT THE HIGH AND LOW BEAMS HAD TO BE ADJUSTED AS ONE UNIT. HE EXITED THE VEHICLE AND MEASURED THE DISTANCE FROM THE VEHICLE TO WHERE THE VISIBILITY ENDED. THE DISTANCE WAS 130 FEET ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ROAD. ALSO, ON A TURN OF 90 OR 120 DEGREES, THERE WAS NO SIDE LIGHTING WHICH MEANT HE HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO A CRAWL IN ORDER TO MAKE A TURN. IN ADDITION, WHEN GOING DOWN HILL, THE VISIBILITY OF THE LIGHTS DECREASED TO ABOUT 20-20 FEET. THE DEALER RAISED THE LIGHTS ABOUT FACTORY SPECS. HE COULD SEE A LITTLE BETTER, BUT THE HIGH BEAMS WERE 20-30 FEET IN THE AIR AND WERE USELESS. *JB MA 08/05/15 THE CONSUMER STATED DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER VISIBILITY DECREASES TO 20-30 FEET/40 FEET MAX.
