Air bags, side/window, curtain, inflatorJul 1, 2021
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. The roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall may rupture.
A separated inflator end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape, resulting in the end cap or other components being propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
Dealers will replace the left and right side RRAB modules, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed on August 18, 2021. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy is available. Phase I owner notification letters were mailed on May 5, 2022. Phase II owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 31, 2022. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. This recall supersedes NHTSA recall number 20V-736. GM's number for this recall is N202324251.

Seat belts, frontApr 8, 2021
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have received an incorrect replacement tensioner cable assembly as part of a previous recall remedy or a subsequent repair. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.
A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver seat belt lap pretensioner, free of charge. The recall began on May 5, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212330040.

Air bags, side/window, curtain, inflatorNov 25, 2020
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 trucks. The roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator.
If the end cap separates from the inflator, the compressed gas will escape and the end cap can be propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the RRAB modules on the left and/or right side, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on December 22, 2020. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. Note: GM filed a new recall, number 21V-504 that supersedes this recall. All vehicles previously recalled under 20V-736 will now be repaired under the new recall number 21V-504. GM's numbers for this recall are N202309680, N202309681, and N202309682.

Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, wheel speed sensor/tone ringOct 24, 2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.
Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

Service brakes, hydraulic, power assist, vacuumSep 6, 2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade, 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon vehicles. The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time.
As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began October 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192268490.

Steering, electric power assist systemSep 7, 2018
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Sierra 1500 and Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade vehicles. Electric power steering (EPS) assist may be lost momentarily, followed by a sudden return of EPS assist.
If EPS assist is lost and then suddenly returns, the driver may have difficulty steering the vehicle, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the EPS module software, free of charge. The recall began October 12, 2018. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18289.

Air bags, frontalJul 10, 2017
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.
A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. Seat beltsApr 12, 2016
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks manufactured January 29, 2013, to January 21, 2015. While entering the vehicle, the seat belt tensioner cable may be positioned such that the driver slides over it. This movement may result in the fatigue and separation of the cable.
If the tensioner cable separates, the driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will modify the vehicles to prevent the tensioner from being damaged. Any tensioner that has already been damaged will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on August 11, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 15822.

PROBLEM PRESENTED AS ENGINE DYING AT STOP SIGNS AND PROGRESSED TO ENGINE MISS WITH RANDOM ENGINE STOP. WAS SENT TO SHOP 3 TIMES OVER A EIGHT WEEK PERIOD WITH NO RESOLUTION TO PROBLEM.
Power train, Electrical system, Jan 24, 2017
I PURCHASED MY FIRST NEW VEHICLE IN OCT OF 2015. I'VE OWNED 4 VEHICLES SINCE I'VE HAD MY LICENSE, 2 DODGES AND 2 BMWS. I CHOSE A TRUCK I'VE DREAMED OF HAVING SINCE I WAS 16. I'M CURRENTLY 28. I CHOSE THE SIERRA DENALI. NOT ONLY WAS THIS MY FIRST NEW VEHICLE BUT THIS WAS MY FIRST TRUCK AND MY FIRST GM PRODUCT OF MY LIFE. NOW I'M TEETERING ON IT BEING MY LAST. THROUGH THE 14 MONTHS I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE (SINCE 4 MILES) I'VE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES. MY FRONT DIFFERENTIAL HAS BEEN REBUILT NOT ONCE BUT TWICE. MY TRUCK HAS 45K ON IT. IT HAS NEVER TOWED HAULED OR OTHER WISE PERFORMED A TASK REQUIRING IT'S POWER OTHER THAN NORMAL DRIVING. IT HAS BEEN BABIED. CLEANED WASHED OIL CHANGED TIRES ROTATED AND 93 OCTANE FILL UPS. AMONGST OTHER ISSUES WERE THE INFOTAINMENT CENTER FREEZING. CVS AXLE SHAFTS PERFORMING ERRATIC ALONG WITH BUCKING SLAMMING AND NOISES THROUGH THE POWER TRAIN. A RANDOM LEAK IN THE LOWER OIL PAN THAT THE DEALER SAID WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT THEY WERE AWARE OF. A AIRBAG SOFTWARE SAFETY RECALL AND A SHIFTING DRIVER SEAT THAT TENDS TO MOVE A BIT DURING CORNERING. NOW TO TOP ALL OF THOSE ISSUES OFF IN THOSE 14 MONTHS I NOW HAVE A LEAK THE EXTENDS OUT FROM THE EDGE ABOUT 5 INCHES FROM THE REAR WINDSHIELD ALL THE WAY FROM THE DRIVER SIDE TO PASSENGER SIDE. I'M NOT IN BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD 100 DOLLARS AND IT WILL BE FIXED. IT SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE FIXED. NONE OF IT SHOULD HAVE. I HAVE HAD LESS ISSUES IN ALL 4 OF MY LAST VEHICLES PUT TOGETHER THAN THIS 1 VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED FOR 14 MONTHS AND I BOUGHT IT NEW. THIS HAS BEEN A BIG LET DOWN. A DISAPPOINTMENT 12 YEARS IN THE MAKING APPARENTLY. ONE THAT HAS MORE THAN RUINED MY DAY. I HONESTLY DON'T WANT THIS TRUCK. IT'S SCARRED FOR LIFE. THAT'S OBVIOUS AND NOT REVERSIBLE. BUT NOW I'M UNDER WATER ON A LOAN FOR A TRUCK THAT'S NOT WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN SCRAP METAL. THAT'S NEITHER RIGHT NOR FAIR. *TR

TRUCK HAS VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND GAS PEDAL BETWEEN THE SPEEDS 30-75 MPH. WHEN DRIVING THE TRUCK AT ANY OF THE LISTED SPEEDS AND HAVE THE SPEED STEADY AT SAID SPEED, VIBRATION CAN BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND GAS PEDAL IN THE 2WD AND 4WD-AUTO MODES. ALSO WHEN THE ENGINE SHIFTS FROM V8 TO V4 MODES. TRUCK HAS BEEN TO THREE (3) DEALERS SO FAR AND DID NOT SEE MUCH IMPROVEMENT IN THE VIBRATION. *TR

ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 20TH 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 7:15PM WHILE DRIVING SOUTH ON NEW RIVER ROAD IN LINCOLN RI I TRIED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ONTO A SIDE STREET. WHEN I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT IT WAS SNATCHED OUT OF MY HANDS AND THE STEERING WHEEL AUTOMATICALLY TURNED BACK TO CENTER IT SELF. I COULD NOT MANEUVER THE VEHICLE AS IT ROLLED UP ONTO THE SIDEWALK WHERE I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO FORCE THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING INTO A TREE. THE VEHICLE DIC DISPLAYED "PARK ASSIST" AND AFTERWARDS THE VEHICLE WENT COMPLETELY DEAD...NO LIGHTS OR SOUNDS WHEN I TRIED TURNING THE KEY TO RESTART IT. LIFTED UP THE HOOD AND ALL THE ELECTRONICS CAME BACK ON AND VEHICLE STARTED. DIC PROMPT DISPLAYED "OPEN AND THEN CLOSE THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW" HAD VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER FOR SERVICE. *TR

THE HEADLIGHTS IN THIS VEHICLE ARE UNSAFE. THE ARE DIM AND ONLY PROJECT OUT A SHORT DISTANCE AND VERY LITTLE TO THE PERIPHERY. THERE IS ALSO A DARK LINE IN THE FIELD OF VIEW WHERE ABOVE IT IS DARK AND BELOW IS DULL LIGHT. I HAVE CONTACTED MY LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP AND THE SOLUTION WAS TO UPGRADE THE LIGHT BULBS WHICH THEY DID. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I ESCALATED IT TO GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION.

EXTREME LAG/DELAY- HARSH ENGAGEMENT WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE. ITS LIKE YOU ARE BACKING INTO SOMETHING? WHEN CRUISING 28-32 MPH AND RELEASING ACCELERATOR(AS IF YOU WERE COASTING INTO A TURN) WHEN SLOWING THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO SHIFT UP AND LUNGE ENTERING THE TURN. CLUNKS AND SHIFTS HARD WHEN CRUISING NORMALLY WHEN YOU HAVE TO RELEASE THE GAS PEDAL AND SLIGHTLY REACCELERATE, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO HESITATE. VEHICLE SHUTTERS AND HARD ACCEL 10X WORSE WHEN TOWING A 7000 # TRAILER (TRUCK IS RATED OVER 12,000 LBS. TOWING).

ON THE NIGHT OF 11/04/2016 WE ALMOST HIT A PERSON THAT WAS NOT VISIBLE TO US BECAUSE OF INADEQUATE FACTORY HEADLIGHTS ON ALL GMC 1500 TRUCKS. WE HAVE HAD OUR TRUCK IN FOR WARRANTY COMPLAINT ON THESE LIGHT, AND AFTER 3 DEALERS IN 3 DIFFERENT STATE THE FIX THEY USE DOES NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. AND NOW GM CUSTOMER RELATIONS E- MAIL ME AND STATE THEY HAVE DONE ALL THEY CAN DO AND CLOSES OUR CLAIM. NHTSA NEEDS TO LOOK IN TO THIS ASAP BEFORE SOME ONE IS KILLED, I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS TRUCK AFTER DARK
Exterior lighting, Nov 4, 2016
HEADLIGHTS: YOU CAN NOT DRIVE THIS TRUCK AFTER DARK BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHTS ARE UNSAFE. WHEN ON LOW BEAM THERE IS A BLACK SPOT FROM ABOUT 3 FEET UP AND THERE IS NO SIDE LIGHT. THIS MAKES IT IMPOSABLE TO SEE CURBS, STREET SIGNS, STOP SIGNS, HUMANS AND ANIMALS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD STREET OR HIGHWAY

I AM IN RECEIPT OF THE PAPERWORK CONCERNING THE ABOVE CLAIMED FOR MY VEHICLE. THE PAPERWORK IN MY POSSESSION CLEARLY STATES THAT FARMERS INSURANCE HAS MADE ME AWARE THAT MY VEHICLE 'HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE A TOTAL LOSS'. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THESE FINDINGS SINCE IT SEEMED MY VEHICLE ONLY SUFFERED MINOR DAMAGES TO THE EXTERIOR ONLY. AIRBAGS WHERE NOT DEPLOYED NOR ANY WINDOWS SHATTERED. I AM ALSO IN RECEIPT OF THE PAPERWORK CONCERNING MY CLAIM AND DETERMINING I AM 51% AT FAULT TOWARDS THE ACCIDENT. I CLEARLY GAVE MY SIDE OF THE STORY TO THE POLICE OFFICE THAT MY STEERING WHEEL HAD LOCKED AND I WAS UNABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. I WAS NOT UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ANY DRUGS SO I FEEL MECHANICAL FAILURE SHOULD BE ASSESSED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION WAS ALSO SENT TO ME WHERE IT CLEARLY STATES RECALL NOTICES FOR MY VEHICLE. RECALL NOTICE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID # 14V719000, DATED BY THE MANUFACTURER NOVEMBER 10, 2014 STATES A RECALL NOTICE NAMING THE STEERING AS THE COMPONENT NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER GMC/CHEVROLET CONCERNING THIS MATTER. UPON REVIEW OF THIS LETTER, PLEASE ALSO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE RECALLS THAT YOU HAVE PROVIDED ME AND RECONSIDER PURSUING OF SUBROGATION FROM A THIRD PARTY, I.E. GMC/CHEVROLET MANUFACTURER.

HEADLIGHTS ARE A MFG DEFECT AND THIS TRUCK IS EXTREMELY DANGERS TO DRIVE AFTER DARK
Seats, Oct 29, 2016
OVER THE SUMMER THE DRIVERS SEAT IN MY TRUCK STARTED MAKING A CLICKING SOUND AND FELT LIKE THE BASE WAS SHIFTING, ALMOST LIKE A BOLT WAS COMING LOOSE AND THE BASE WAS SLIDING ON THE THREADS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND DESCRIBED WHAT WAS HAPPENING, THEY DROVE IT AND DECIDED THAT THEY NEEDED TO INSTALL A SHIM KIT TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THEY INSTALLED THE KIT AND NOW A FEW MONTHS LATER IT IS STARTING TO DO IT AGAIN. HOW SAFE IS IT TO HAVE SHIMS UNDER THE SEAT TO TIGHTEN THINGS UP WHEN THAT SEAT IS WHAT IT SUPPOSED TO HOLD YOU IN THE VEHICLE IN THE CASE OF A COLLISION. I AM TAKING IT BACK TO MY DEALER TO HAVE THEM RE-REPAIR IT BUT ARE SHIMS EVEN SAFE UNDER THE SEAT OR IS THIS JUST GMS MONEY SAVING SOLUTION TO GET CONSUMERS OFF THEIR BACK WHILE PUTTING THEIR SAFETY AT RISK?
Exterior lighting, Oct 10, 2016
I HAVE A 2015 GMC SIERRA PICKUP TRUCK, PURCHASED NEW IN FEBRUARY 2015. AS SOON AS I DROVE THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT, I NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE VERY DIM ON BOTH LOW BEAM AND HIGH BEAM. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND A GM TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (#PIT5374) , WHICH INSTRUCTS THE TECH TO REPLACE BOTH HEADLIGHT BULBS, AND TO INCREASE VOLTAGE TO THE HEADLIGHTS VIA THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. I HAD THE DEALER PERFORM THIS TSB IN JUNE OF 2015, BUT SINCE THE UPGRADE, THE PERFORMANCE OF THE HEADLIGHTS IS ONLY SLIGHTLY BETTER. THE TRUCK IS UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT, AND ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT IN THE RAIN. IN ADDITION, ONE OF THE NEW HEADLIGHT BULBS BLEW LAST WEEK, BUT THE GMC DEALER REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY ONCE HE LOCATED A BULB AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP IN TOWN.
Exterior lighting, Oct 10, 2016
THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE FAIL TO PROVIDE AN ADEQUATE LATERAL VIEW OF THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE ANYTHING THAT MIGHT BE MOVING IN TO THE DRIVER'S PATH FROM THE LEFT OR NIGHT SIDES. LATERAL VIEW OF THE HIGHWAY IS NOT IMPROVED WHEN CHANGING FROM LOW BEAM TO HIGH BEAM OR VICE VERSA. THE ONLY WAY TO CAST ANY LATERAL LIGHT TO THE SIDES OF THE HIGHWAY IS TO UTILIZE THE FOG LAMPS WHICH CAN ONLY BE ACTIVATED WHILE USING THE LOW BEAM. THE LACK OF ADEQUATE LATERAL LIGHTING MAKES NIGHT DRIVING EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO LOOK FOR ANIMALS OR HUMANS THAT MIGHT BE STEPPING IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE THE TIME THE VEHICLE WAS LEASED.
Exterior lighting, Sep 21, 2016
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN JUNE OF 2015. THE HEADLIGHTS IN THIS VEHICLE ARE ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE AND EXTREMELY UNSAFE. NIGHT TIME DRIVING IS VERY DIFFICULT AND UNNERVING BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHT PERFORMANCE IS SO POOR. IF DRIVING AT NIGHT AND IT STARTS RAINING, FORGET IT. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER A HALF DOZEN TIMES AND THEY PERFORMED 1TSB WHICH MADE ALMOST NO NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE.

DESIGN FLAW IN CABIN AIR FILTRATION SYSTEM LEADING TO HEALTH HAZARD WITHIN THE VEHICLE. MICE HAVE ENTERED THE COWL AIR PLENUM AREA AND BUILT NESTS ON TOP OF AND OUT OF THE CABIN AIR FILTER MATERIAL. THE FILTER HAS BECOME SATURATED WITH MOUSE DANDER, FECES AND OTHER MATERIALS. EVENTUALLY THESE CONTAMINANTS WORK THEIR WAY THROUGH THE FILTER AND AN ODOR IS NOTICED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE MICE ARE BELIEVED TO ENTER THIS AREA THROUGH SIGNIFICANT UNSCREENED OPENINGS AT THE ENDS OF A PLASTIC COVER OVER THE PLENUM IN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER AREA UNDER THE HOOD. I HAVE CONTACTED GM WITH REGARD TO THIS DESIGN FLAW. . SO FAR, MY DEALER HAS REPAIR THE DAMAGE AND INSTALL NEW CABIN FILTERS AT MY EXPENSES . WAS TOLD BY DEALER THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY NO ATTEMPT HAS BEEN MADE TO BLOCK OR SCREEN THE OPENINGS. THE TRUCK IS REGULARLY GARAGED WITH AN OTHER NON-GM VEHICLES THAT DO NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. INDIVIDUALS WITH RESPIRATORY CONDITIONS SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE SIGNIFICANT PLENUM DESIGN FLAW IN THESE GM TRUCKS.
