  1. Tires, temporary/emergency spare tireDec 16, 2021

General Motors (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2021 GMC Sierra 1500 and Silverado 1500 vehicles equipped with certain accessory road tires and a 17" spare tire. The 17" spare tire provided with the vehicle is not compatible for use with the accessory wheels, which can cause the anti-lock brake system (ABS) to not function properly under certain conditions.

An ABS system that does not function properly can increase the risk of a crash.

Dealers will provide a new 17" spare tire and wheel assembly that is compatible with the accessory wheels, free of charge. Dealers will also apply a new spare tire information label, and provide owners with an owner's manual insert clarifying which spare tire to use with the accessory road tires and with the 17" original tires. Owner notification letters were mailed February 7, 2022. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-462-8782 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. 8. Electrical system, 12v/24v/48v battery, cablesDec 12, 2019

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks. The battery positive (B+) cable rings may have been manufactured with excessive glue, potentially causing an intermittent electrical connection between the B+ cable and alternator.

An intermittent electrical connection between the B+ battery cable and the alternator could cause the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. The intermittent connection could also lead to electrical arcing, which could generate sufficient heat to damage surrounding material, increasing the risk of a fire.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect for the presence of glue or other contamination at the B+ cable attachment to the alternator and clean the connection and reattach the B+ cable connection, as necessary. If arcing has damaged the cable, nut, or alternator, the dealer will replace the damaged components. All services will be performed free of charge. GM issued owners an interim notification on February 4, 2020. GM issued second notice and the recall began March 9, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267. GM's number for this recall is N192273510.

When the front seat belt pretensioners deploy, hot gas may vent through an opening in the pretensioner bracket, possibly igniting the carpet.

A vehicle fire could result if materials ignite inside the vehicle.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will close off the opening in the pretensioner bracket, free of charge. The recall began December 13, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267. GM's number for this recall is N192270600.

  1. Engine, Jan 20, 2023

The lifters were replaced leas that 2years under warranty at Pooler Chevrolet. They have stated this is a common problem with this vehicle and they had a lot of these vehicles come in with the same exact problem. Vehicle had no power, engine lights on and valve failure after being replaced before and the vehicle has less than 60,000 miles at 2nd failure. They stated the 1st repair has no warranty to cover such a catastrophic failure and I must pay out of pocket. I argued that it shouldn't have failed with less than. 60,000 miles any expectations of engine failure would be with massive miles and would be expected for some form.of major over haul. Caused emergency as i was in the middle of the interstate upon failure and I almost lost my life. I asked who was performing the repair and they won't answer the request about the repair. They stated it was sent out for repairs and not an in house repair. All repairs have been at GM certified center.

  2. Engine, Dec 1, 2022

I was on the highway going 60mph and the engine light came on and it said “low oil pressure, turn off engine”. I could not safely pull over and had to drive a half mile to do so. The vehicle was towed to the service station near my house that I’ve used before and the problem was a blown high pressure oil line. Technician said that the hose came undone at the crimp joint and that he’s recently seen other Sierras with the same problem. I checked my GMC app and there were no recalls so I authorized the repair and paid the $919 bill. A few days later I did a google search for 2019 GMC Sierra oil line problems and got several hits from the GMauthority.com site. It’s a known problem in Canada and Alaska (cold weather) and GMC will repair it at no charge if the vehicle was bought there and the repair is done by a GMC repair facility but they won’t reimburse me because I bought mine in MA. It was 24 degrees the day the line blew. The problem is that the part is faulty and fails at cold temperatures. There should be a recall on the high pressure oil lines for all vehicles sold in cold weather states.

  3. Power train, Electrical system, Engine, Sep 6, 2022

While driving down the highway at 70 MPH, the transmission slammed into gear and the engine died. A message appeared and said shift to neutral and press the ignition button. The check engine light also appeared. This had been a problem that first appeared at 48,000 miles. I was told that GM recognizes that there is an issue with the transmission, but that it would not damage the vehicle so it is not able to be repaired under warranty. The dealership advised that I should change the transmission fluid, so I did. The transmission continued to slam into gear thereafter. Fast forward to 55,000 miles where the truck completely died. The engine would not start and the truck had to be towed to a dealership. The next day the dealership told me that they had figured out the issue and that it was related to the fuse box and the ignition. I picked up my truck the next day, and drove less than a mile before the engine died again. I sat at the dealership for 12 hours and they had another answer for what was happening. They said that the shift lever was damaged and it was not allowing the battery to recharge. I live 400 miles away from where the truck broke down. I had to rent a vehicle to return home with my family from a trip. I now have to drive back to my truck in another state, and pay for the 12 plus hours of diagnostic work at $140 an hour as well as the cost of the part and the time to install it because the dealership stated that this is not covered by any warranty. I see that several people are dealing with a similar issue and I am frustrated that no one is willing to help us right this wrong. My grandfather worked for GM his entire adult life, and I will never own another one.

  4. Engine, Aug 4, 2022

Lifters failed. Damaged crank. Just out of factory warranty.

  5. Engine, Apr 12, 2022

The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine oil cooler line detached causing oil to leak onto the ground. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine oil cooler line needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.

  6. Engine, Jan 21, 2022

My 2019 GMC Sierra was traveling on the highway at 70MPH. The oil cooler line detached, and the truck shut down telling me to get over now. There was oil everywhere. I am shocked it did not catch fire. there was also 7 quarts of oil on the highway I called the dealer, and they are well aware of this problem. They were sorry but there is nothing we can do for you. They told me they do 1-2 oil cooler lines a month. [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

  7. Engine, Jan 7, 2022

Every time I start the engine I get loud ticking noises. This is Lifter noise! I took it into the Dealership and they said the noise was normal. GM is known for having this Lifter problem in the heads. This can destroy my engine, causing premature wear on the lifters themselves.

  8. Electrical system, Service brakes, Engine, Nov 25, 2021

While driving on a two lane road I proceeded to pass a slow moving vehicle, after accelerating from 45 MPH to 60 MPH my Check Engine light, Service Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Service Electronic Brake System lights illuminated on my display. My RPMs increased before shifting gears and I noticed a significant loss in power. Thankfully there was not an accident when the incident occurred; however, if an oncoming vehicle or bad weather it could have been a different outcome. I took my vehicle to a GMC dealer to diagnose the issue where I found out my lifters for my valves are bad and my fourth cylinder is inoperable along with a bad CAM. A new vehicle at 65K miles on it should not be having mechanical issues that can pose a danger while driving, putting others and my safety at risk. GM needs to reevaluate the products and materials their using to build engines to ensure there are no flaws starting with the valve lifters.

  9. Engine, May 21, 2021

Purchesed a 2019 GMC AT4 6.2 w/16300 miles on it on April 19, 2021. Yesterday w/18700 miles are began to exprience a loud ticking sound coming from my engine. The ticking is associated with a failed lifter or lifters. Had to get my truck towed to the dealership for repair.

I HAVE HAD THE 2019 SIERRA 1500 AT4 WITH 6.2 LITER ENGINE IN THE SHOP (8) TIMES SINCE PURCHASING IT IN LATE AUG 2019 FOR MULTIPLE ISSUES, INCLUDING THE ISSUES RELATING TO THE BRAKE SOFTWARE RECALL. THIS RESULTED IN ME ROLLING THROUGH A STOP SIGN WITHOUT ANY BRAKES. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. AS AN ENGINEER, I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE THAT THE ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED LONG TERM BY GM. MY FAMILY WILL NO LONGER RIDE IN THE TRUCK WITH ME. AS A RESULT, I HAVE RETAINED AN ATTORNEY FOR THE PURPOSE OF FILING SUIT AGAINST GM FOR SELLING ME AN UNSAFE LEMON. EVEN FURTHER CONCERNING IS THE FACT THAT ON (2) OCCASIONS THE PARKING BRAKE HAS ENGAGED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH. ONE TIME WHILE IN 4WD IN SNOW, AND THE OTHER TIME WHILE IN 2WD ON DRY PAVEMENT. THE FIRST TIME THERE WAS A DIAGNOSTIC CODE ASSOCIATED WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGING RANDOMLY. THE SECOND TIME, THERE WAS NO DIAGNOSTIC CODE PRESENT. THE FIRST ISSUE WITH BRAKING BEGAN 11/14/2019, AND THE MOST RECENT ISSUE OCCURRED ON 2/2/2020 EVEN AFTER ALL RECALL "FIXES" HAVE BEEN APPLIED. *JS
