The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 MPH, the rear wheels locked up. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the brakes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Walker Bros Chevrolet (700 Erie St, Edinboro, PA 16412); for a second opinion, and the transmission and TCM were replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to the Customer Satisfaction Program: N192272400; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Electrical system, Engine, Apr 17, 2026
The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle lost automotive power and stalled. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated when the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle, and the vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact became aware that the 400 AMP fuse was blown. The contact replaced the fuse and replaced the starter, however during a test drive, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken back to the residence, and a 400-AMP fuse was replaced a second time. The contact also replaced the starter, the alternator and replaced the ground cables, and during another test drive, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken back to the residence and the contact determined that the engine had seized. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 159,000.
Engine, Apr 16, 2026
Lifter failure cylinder #8, this is a 2019 GMC Sierra Denali 4x4. It has a 6.2L engine. With 92823 miles on it. It would be nice if GM would do a recall on this year motor as well.
Engine, Apr 13, 2026
I have a 2019 GMC AT4 and it has stalled on the highway multiple times and smokes every time I started. I have read that the engine in it has been recalled on multiple other years but the one I purchased needs a 25,000 repair and it’s not safe to drive. There is not a current recall, but I’ve read that this engine on almost all the other trucks and SUVs that have it have had problems.
Engine and engine cooling, Apr 10, 2026
The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 70 MPH on the interstate, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of engine power and decelerated rapidly, nearly causing an accident. The contact managed to pull off the road, but the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact reported a prior history of excessive oil consumption. During a previous visit to the dealer, the contact was advised to shorten the vehicle oil change intervals from 10,000 miles to 5,000 miles to mitigate the oil loss. The contact stated that the dealer failed to determine that the excessive oil consumption was an early symptom of the current engine failure. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the belt filter and the piston needed to be replaced within the camshaft assembly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
Engine, Apr 10, 2026
I had left work and pulled out of the parking lot to head towards the freeway. I had driven about 3 blocks and the truck made an indicator alert noise. My dash panel said reduced power mode or something to that effect. The truck felt as if it lost power. Luckily I was able to pull to the side of the road at which point I put it into park and shut it off. I waited a moment and then tried to restart it. The dash panel said something but it was too fast for me to read before it went away. The engine was cranking but it did not restart. I tried several more times before calling roadside assistance to have it towed to a nearby dealership. The dealership said that I would need to replace the engine $18,751.92. They said the Camshaft RPM are 0 while the crankshaft RPM is 2-300. Lifters and Rockers are not moving. The chain is most likely broke as well. The fuel pressure is about 30 psi in the high side. It would be just as expensive if not more to try and repair the existing engine if it is even repairable which they wouldn't know until they took it apart at which point I would have to pay for that as well even if it was not salvageable. They would need to replace the oil lines and cooler as well because debris from the engine could be in them and would do more damage if not replaced. I had already replaced the oil lines and cooler within the last 6 months. The truck has 114,000 miles. My warranty still had 3 months on it but the mileage stopped at 100,000 so I am out of luck. When I researched online to see what it could be I saw there are known problems with this 6.2 L87 engine and that many fail around 100,000 miles. There are other recalls but the 2019 was not included in the recall. If I choose to have the work done it will take several weeks in which I will now have to rent a car as well. Not much of a choice when I still owe $30,000 and they only offered me $9,000 for it as is with the bad engine.
Engine, Apr 9, 2026
The engine suddenly seized and now needs to be replaced. Regular oil changes, no leaks, and the engine just seized up and won't run. 5.3L V8.
Engine, Apr 7, 2026
While accelerating from a stop, the oil pressure warning illuminated. The driver immediately pulled over within approximately 0.15 miles and shut the engine off. Oil was actively leaking from the vehicle. The truck was towed and diagnosed with oil cooler line separation at the crimp fitting, resulting in rapid oil loss and catastrophic engine failure. Sudden oil loss while driving creates a safety hazard. This failure appears consistent with known issues involving oil cooler line assemblies on similar vehicles.
Power train, Apr 6, 2026
The transmission has a shudder at various speeds.
Engine, Apr 6, 2026
I was driving my vehicle on the highway doing normal highway speed, when I began to hear an odd noise coming from the engine area. I slowed down and moved into the slow lane at which time the noise became worse. The vehicle then lost power and I wasn’t able to get the vehicle to do over 40mph. I was able to exit the highway and limp my vehicle home. I had the vehicle towed to a GMC dealership the following morning. After about ten days, I was contacted by the dealer and was advised that I had an engine failure and that my vehicle required a new engine.
Engine and engine cooling, Power train, Apr 3, 2026
The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while stopped, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The engine and transmission warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was initially taken to the local dealer; however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was later diagnosed, and it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
Service brakes, Hydraulic, Apr 3, 2026
The contact's partner owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the "Service Brake System" and ABS warning lights illuminated. The brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard, and the message that the vehicle would not exceed 62 MPH was displayed. The vehicle was restarted, and several unknown warning lights were illuminated with a message that the vehicle would not accelerate above 42 MPH. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where a diagnostic test was performed and the diagnostic test revealed that the brake pipe had seized in the brake master cylinder and that the pipe fitting threads were damaged. The contact was informed that the brake master cylinder and the reservoir seal needed to be replaced. Despite the repair, the dealer stated that the master cylinder and brake line fitting were still defective. After several additional repairs to the brake system, the vehicle was returned to the owner. Upon driving the vehicle, the contact stated that the prior brake warning lights returned on the instrument panel. The vehicle was returned to the dealer and remained with the dealer. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V055000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); and associated the failure with the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The contact was then given a case number. The contact was also transferred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 42,320.

My vehicle is at the dealership now - it wasn’t starting properly, started always getting low on oil which I took to the dealership for them to monitor- and then the check engine light came on- once that came on just last Thursday I did not drive the vehicle except to the dealership to be inspected - which my appt was Monday and they found metal shavings in the oil and said the whole engine needs replacement!
Electrical system, Engine, Apr 1, 2026
The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost automotive power; however, the vehicle maintained electrical power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local service center, where it was diagnosed and determined that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer and remained for additional investigation. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle several times and shift into different gears; however, the failure reoccurred. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.
Engine, Mar 30, 2026
Engine knocking, constantly kicking into limp mode, shaking when driving. Taken to GMC and local repair shops. Limp mode will not stop kicking on. Now other issues will mean total engine replacement needed. Mechanic says it’s not worth repairing at this point. Only 109k miles on it.
Power train, Mar 30, 2026
The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle vibrated and felt as if the transmission was going to unexpectedly downshift. No warning light was illuminated. In addition, there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear wheels. The contact stated that it felt like the rear tires were driving in the wrong gear. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted and became a worsening failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

The transmission valve body was trying to lock up while driving and making it shimmy and shift hard. I took it to Davis GMC in [XXX] . They diagnosed it with the transmission malfunction (this is the same transmission that is under recall in the 2020 models)j. I paid $8660.33 to have them replace the transmission. It has been approximately 6 months and 6.000 miles and now this transmission is shuttering, also. I took it back to Davis GMC and the technician told me that I didn't know how to drive a 10 speed automatic! I then took it to TriLakes Motor in [XXX] where they made an adjustment on it. That has not fixed the problem. Today I contacted the main GMC center and started a case number: XXX. They suggessted taking it back to a dealership again and trying to get it fixed again. I feel like I am stuck with a truck that can not be fixed and should be in the recall due to it having the same transmission as the other GMC Sierra's that are under recall.
