Power train, automatic transmission, control module (tcm/pcm/tecm)Aug 4, 2011
HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.
THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.
HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

HONDA IS RECALLING AFTERMARKET FULL NOSE MASKS, PART NUMBER 08P35-TA0-100 AND 08P35-TA6-100 MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 9, 2007 THROUGH DECEMBER 11, 2007. THE ACCESSORY WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORD 4-DOOR VEHICLES. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE NOSE MASK MATERIAL TO INTERFERE WITH PART OF THE HOOD LATCH. IF THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY CLOSED AND THE NOSE MASK INTERFERES WITH THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MECHANISM THE HOOD MAY POP OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN.
THIS MAY RESULT IN REDUCED DRIVER VISIBILITY THAT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
HONDA IS ASKING OWNERS TO PLEASE REMOVE THE NOSE MASK IMMEDIATELY AND CALL ANY AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO RETURN THE NOSE MASK AND HAVE IT REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

I OWN A 2008 HONDA ACCORD EXCEL 4 CYLINDER. WITH THE CLIMATE CONTROL ON THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER. I HAVE TALKED WITH MANY PEOPLE AND THEY ALL SAY THIS IS NOT NORMAL. *TR
Electrical system, Exterior lighting, Mar 4, 2008
THE 2008 HONDA ACCORD EX-L NAV 4 CYLINDER SUFFERS FROM POOR HEADLIGHT PERFORMANCE. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHT INTENSITY FREQUENTLY FLUCTUATES CAUSING DISTRACTION AND REDUCING NIGHTTIME VISIBILITY. *TR MY INTERPRETATION OF THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSIS IS PROVIDED BELOW. POOR HEADLIGHT PERFORMANCE IS 'NORMAL' DUE TO THE OPERATION OF THE ELECTRICAL LOAD DETECTOR (ELD). THE FUNCTION OF THE ELD IS TO PROVIDE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DEMAND INFORMATION TO THE ONBOARD COMPUTER MODULE. THE ONBOARD COMPUTER THEN USES THE PROVIDED INFORMATION TO ADJUST ALTERNATOR OUTPUT WHICH ULTIMATELY RESULTS IN FUEL SAVINGS. HONDA IS ASSUMING THAT CUSTOMERS ARE WILLING TO SACRIFICE NORMAL HEADLIGHT PERFORMANCE FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF INCREASING FUEL MILEAGE. THE OPERATIONAL DESIGN OF ONE SYSTEM PRODUCES A SIDE AFFECT IN ANOTHER SYSTEM THAT RESULTS IN A SAFETY RISK. RISKS OF OPERATING A VEHICLE WITH POOR HEADLIGHT PERFORMANCE ARE PROVIDED BELOW. 1. REDUCED VISIBILITY AND DRIVING CONCENTRATION COULD RESULT IN A COLLISION. 2. OTHER DRIVERS COULD MISTAKE A HEADLIGHT INTENSITY FLUCTUATION AS AGGRESSIVE DRIVING BEHAVIOR RESULTING IN DRIVER CONFRONTATION. *TR

ALL OUTSIDE LIGHTS FLICKER WHENEVER THE AIR CONDITIONER CYCLES ON. THIS IS A VERY VISIBLE FLICKER AND I WOULD CONSIDER A SAFETY HAZARD. HONDA HAS BEEN NOTIFIED AND SAYS ITS A NORMAL CONDITION. DRIVING THE CAR AT NIGHT HAS BECOME EXTREMELY DISTRACTING. *TR

EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR COMES ON. BAYTOWN HONDA SERVICE DEPT, BAYTOWN TX, STATED THIS IS NORMAL AND INTENDED TO DO THAT. FIRST THEY SAID THEY WEREN'T AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, THEN THEY PRODUCED A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE 2008 ACCORD THAT ADVISED HONDA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. BAYTOWN HONDA STATED NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE HONDA SAID THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH FLICKERING LIGHTS. THE FLICKERING LIGHTS ARE A DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER AND OTHER DRIVERS. *TR

WHEN THE A/C IS ON, THE HEADLIGHTS NOTICEABLY DIM EVERY TIME THE COMPRESSOR KICKS ON. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT EVERY 30 SECONDS OR SO WHY THE A/C AND HEADLIGHTS ARE BOTH ON. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT TO HAVE THE HEADLIGHTS NOTICEABLY DIM IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND NHTSA SHOULD REALLY CONSIDER A RECALL/REPAIR OF THIS ITEM BEFORE SOMEONE REALLY GETS HURT. *TR

HEADLIGHTS, TAILLIGHTS, INTERIOR LIGHTS, RADIO FAN MOTOR ALL FADE IN AND OUT WHEN COOLING FAN COMES ON. THIS WAS IN THE SHOP FOR THIS TODAY ALONG WITH PEALING PAINT, BAD SEAT TRACK, BAD UPHOLSTERY AND DAMAGE THAT SLOANE HONDA DID TO MY CAR IN PHILADELPHIA, PA. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IN THESE NEW 08 ACCORDS. HONDA DOESN'T CARE. MURRY COHEN SERVICE MANAGER AT SLOANE THREW ME OUT OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT,THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE AND REFUSED TO GIVE PAPERWORK SHOWING THE CAR WAS THERE, BUT I HAVE THE RENTAL AGREEMENT THEY SIGNED FOR THE DAY. THEY SAY ALL HONDAS LIGHTS GO IN AND OUT,THIS IS MY 4TH AND THIS IS THE ONLY ONE THAT DOES IT. HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NO HELP. DON'T WASTE YOUR BREATH CALLING. MY EMAIL IS IF YOU HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS. I WILL COMPLAIN TO THIS SITE EVERY DAY AND YOU ALL SHOULD TOO. 24590 + TAX AND TAGS DOWN THE DRAIN. I AM GETTING A LEMON LAWYER AND HOPE YOU ALL DO TO. *TR

Exterior lighting, Feb 13, 2008
THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD LX 4-CYL ARE VERY DIM COMPARED TO OTHER VEHICLES ON THE MARKET. THEY POSE A SAFETY HAZARD FOR ME AS WELL FOR OTHER DRIVERS AND PEDESTRIANS. IN TWO DIFFERENT INCIDENTS THE HEADLIGHTS ALMOST LEAD TO A SEVERE ACCIDENT. I WOULD LIKE HONDA TO FIX THE PROBLEM BY MOVING THE HEADLIGHTS UP WHICH WOULD PROVIDE A BETTER VIEW OF THE ROAD. *TR

2008 HONDA ACCORD. WHEN THE COMPRESSOR COMES ON OR THE FAN FOR THE RADIATOR THE HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS DIM AND THEN BRIGHTEN BACK TO NORMAL. THIS OCCURS ABOUT EVERY 30 SECONDS AND IS ANNOYING AS WELL AS A SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT WITH A CAR IN FRONT OF YOU AND THE HEADLIGHTS BLINK THE PERSON MAY BELIEVE YOU ARE FLASHING YOUR HEADLIGHTS AT THEM. THIS PROBLEM IS NOTICABLE TO PASSENGERS AS WELL. I HAVE HAD MANY COMMENTS MADE ASKING WHY I DO NOT GET THIS FIXED BEFORE SOME ROAD RAGE OCCURS. I SPOKE TO HONDA CORPORATE AND THE DEALERSHIPS AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS NORMAL FOR THE CAR, THEREFORE THERE IS NOT A FIX AVAILABLE. THIS PROBLEM IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND DO NOT KNOW WHY NOBODY THAT CAN RESOLVE THE PROBLEM IS. *CN

HEADLIGHTS FLICKER WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT WHEN ACCESSORIES (RADIATOR FAN, A/C COMPRESSOR, ETC.) ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE. ENGINE RPM IS AROUND 2500-3000 (HIGHWAY SPEEDS). THIS HAPPENS EVERY MINUTE OR TWO, SOMETIMES MORE OFTEN. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP TWICE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL AND THAT ALL HONDAS DO IT. WE HAD A 2007 MODEL AS WELL THAT DID NOT EXHIBIT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
