  8. Power train, automatic transmission, control module (tcm/pcm/tecm)Aug 4, 2011

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.

THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.

HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

  9. EquipmentNov 18, 2009

HONDA IS RECALLING AFTERMARKET FULL NOSE MASKS, PART NUMBER 08P35-TA0-100 AND 08P35-TA6-100 MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 9, 2007 THROUGH DECEMBER 11, 2007. THE ACCESSORY WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORD 4-DOOR VEHICLES. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE NOSE MASK MATERIAL TO INTERFERE WITH PART OF THE HOOD LATCH. IF THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY CLOSED AND THE NOSE MASK INTERFERES WITH THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MECHANISM THE HOOD MAY POP OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN.

THIS MAY RESULT IN REDUCED DRIVER VISIBILITY THAT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

HONDA IS ASKING OWNERS TO PLEASE REMOVE THE NOSE MASK IMMEDIATELY AND CALL ANY AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO RETURN THE NOSE MASK AND HAVE IT REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE COULD SMELL AN UNUSUAL ODOR COMING FROM THE REAR BRAKES. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE REAR BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED DUE TO WEIGHT ISTRIBUTION, THE REAR BRAKES WOULD WEAR SOONER THAN THE FRONT BRAKES. THE MANUFACTURER DEEMED THE FAILURE AS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I OWN A 2008 HONDA ACCORD AND IN FEB. 2009 I HAD 15,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND THE REAR BRAKES REPLACED BY HONDA AT A COST OF $86.55 WHICH WAS ABOUT HALF THE PRICE OF THE REPAIR. IN FEB. 2010 AT 30,000 MILES THE REAR BRAKES WERE DOWN TO THE SENSORS AND THEY HAD TO BE REPLACE AGAIN. I HAVE OWNED A 1999 AND HAVE A 2007 HONDA ACCORD AND NEVER REPLACE THE REAR BRAKES UNTIL THEY HAD AR LEASE 45,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR BRAKES ON THE 2008 AND 2009 HONDA ACCORD. CANADA HAS A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN FOR THE REAR BRAKES. THE BRAKES WERE REPLACE AT NO CHARGE IN FEB.2010 AND I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR MY $86.55 THAT I PAID IN FEB. 2009 BUT HONDA REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THE REAR BRAKES HONDA DOES NOT WANT TO DO THIS CAUSE IT WILL COST THEM MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. I HOPE WE ARE NOT LOOKING AT ANOTHER TOYOTA SITUATION. *TR

PURCHASED A BRAND NEW HONDA ACCORD IN 2008 LX-P(2008). REAR BRAKES WENT OUT UNEXPECTEDLY AT A 15000 MILES AND AGAIN 30000. CREATED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION ON BOTH CASES. *TR

  4. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Mar 8, 2010

I OWN A 2008 HONDA ACCORD WITH 16,000 MILES. RECENTLY I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND WAS TOLD THAT MY REAR BRAKES WERE GONE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF NO PROBLEMS WITH REAR BRAKES ON THE ACCORD. I WENT ON LINE AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF OTHER HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, SOME AS EARLY AS 6000 MILES. HONDA OFFERED TO PICK UP HALF THE COST, UNIT I TOLD THEM THAT I WAS AWARE OF A FIX IN THE 2010 MODEL. THE DEALER THEN ACKNOWLEDGED PROBLEMS WITH EARLY BRAKE REPLACEMENT ON THE ACCORD. HONDA THEN REPLACED THEM WITH THE NEW PADS THAT HAVE SPRINGS ADDED TO STOP THE DRAGGING OF THE PADS ON THE DISC. THIS IS COSTING MANY PEOPLE EXPENSES THAT THEY SHOULD NOT BE EXPOSED TO. *TR

  5. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Mar 6, 2010

I HAD TO CHANGE THE REAR BRAKE ROTORS ON MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD EX- V6, WHILE MY FRONT ROTORS AND PADS ARE PERFECTLY OK AND NEEDED NO REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT AT ALL. ACCORDING TO MY EXPERIENCE WITH PREVIOUS VEHICLES, I NEVER HAD TO GET ANY WORK DONE ON REAR BRAKES EVEN UP TO A MILEAGE OF 180,000. ON THIS CAR I HAD TO CHANGE NOT JUST THE PADS BUT THE ROTORS AS WELL JUST AT 40,000 MILES. *TR

  6. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Mar 3, 2010

BOUGHT A 2008 HONDA ACCORD NEW IN JUNE '08. REAR BRAKES WORE OUT AFTER 25000 MI. I THOUGHT FRONT PADS WERE SUPPOSED TO WEAR FIRST BUT IT SEEMS, NOT. VERY ODD SINCE 90% OF MY DRIVING IS INTERSTATE AND MY LAST CAR WENT 80K+ MI BEFORE MY FIRST BRAKE JOB. WENT ON LINE AND IT SEEMS MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I HOPE NOBODY GETS HURT HERE. *TR

  10. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Feb 26, 2010

HAD TO HAVE BRAKES REPLACED AT ROUGHLY 22,000 MILES. THE BRAKES STARTED SQUEAKING AROUND 15,000 MILES. HAD THE CAR CHECKED AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR NEEDED REAR BRAKE PADS. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW OF THE 2008 HONDA ACCORD. VERY DISSATISFIED WITH HONDA. *TR

  11. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Feb 26, 2010

2008 HONDA ACCORD HAS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM SPECIFICALLY REAR BRAKE PADS WEAR OUT EXTREMELY PREMATURELY AND FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WARP. *DT THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONSUMER THERE WAS ONLY 5% REAR BRAKE PADS REMAINING. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS NEVER ANY INDICATIONS OF GRINDING OR SQUEALING. THE DEALER STATED IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND WAS NOT INCLUDED UNDER WARRANTY. ON NOVEMBER 13, 2009 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE A SHIMMY WAS FELT ON TOP OF THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN THE CONSUMER BRAKED AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE CONSUMERS WIFE NOTICED A SQUARE TIRE FEEL WHEN BRAKING SHORTLY AFTER THE REAR BRAKES WERE REPLACED, BUT NEVER MENTIONED IT. THE DEALER FOUND THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND MACHINED THEM. *JB

  12. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Feb 25, 2010

2008 HONDA ACCORD REAR BRAKES WORE OUT. CONSUMER STATES THAT HONDA HAS FAILED TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE REAR BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE. *KB THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE ROTORS WERE SEVERELY RUSTED. THERE WAS A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED HE/SHE WAS NOT SURE WHETHER THE SQUEAKING NOISE WAS DUE TO THE CORROSION OR THE BRAKES PADS BEING WORN. *JB UPDATED 07/08/10.*JB

  13. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Feb 25, 2010

THE BACK BRAKES OF HONDA ACCORD 2008 WEAR OF SO QUICKLY THAT THE CONSUMER DOESN'T HAVE THE SLIGHTEST IDEA ABOUT IT. THIS PREMATURE WEAROUT IS CAUSING UNUSUAL BREAK DISTRIBUTION AND ALMOST MEETING WITH ACCIDENTS. THEY WEAR AS SOON AS WITHIN THE FIRST 10,000 MILES. I AM TALKING OF A BRAND NEW CAR WITH MOST HIGHWAY DRIVEN MILES. *TR

  14. Service brakes, Electric, Feb 25, 2010

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

  15. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Feb 24, 2010

THE REAR BRAKES ON 2008 HONDA ACCORD COUPE WEAR OUT TWICE AS FAST AS THE FRONT. THAT MEANS THE REAR BRAKES APPLY MORE PRESSURE TO STOP THAN THE FRONT. THIS, IN MY OPINION IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

  16. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Feb 24, 2010

I HAVE A 2008 HONDA ACCORD THAT HAS PREMATURE BRAKE WARE. I HAVE 34,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKE PADS TWICE AND THE ROTORS ONCE! THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL CARS IN MY LIFE, AND HAVE NEVER SEEN A BRAKE SYSTEM DESIGNED SO POORLY. I HAVE FOUND ONLINE THAT HONDA KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE, BUT THEY ARE REFUSING TO IMPLEMENT A FIX AND RECALL THIS MODEL, WHICH WOULD BE THE ETHICAL THING TO DO. THEY NEED TO OWN UP TO THE DESIGN FLAW AND COME UP WITH A SOLUTION. WE ALL KNOW HOW IMPORTANT GOOD BRAKES ARE TO THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE ON THE ROAD. *TR

  17. Service brakes, Electric, Feb 23, 2010

14,000 MILES ON 2008 HONDA ACCORD XL V6 ES, DEALER REPLACED ROTORS WITHIN 3 WKS OF OUR PURCHASE. 4 WKS LATER, STOPPING AT LIGHT, BRAKES PULLED ME LEFT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HAD CAR TESTED BY DEALER AND SVC MANAGER, COULD NOT DUPLICATE. WORRISOME! *TR

  18. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Feb 22, 2010

2008 HONDA ACCORD 30,000 MILES AND NEEDS A REAR BRAKE SYSTEM CHANGE FOR THE SECOND TIME. I ALREADY CHANGED THE REAR BRAKE SYSTEM AT 17000 MILES AT 15 MONTHS OF PURCHASE AND NOW AFTER 7 MORE MONTHS THE HONDA ASKED ME TO CHANGE MY REAR BRAKES AGAIN. *TR

  19. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Feb 18, 2010

THE REAR BRAKES WEARING OUT SIGNIFICANTLY AT LOW MILEAGE. PERHAPS IN THE ABS/TRACTION CONTROL/STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM; TWEAKED THE REAR BRAKES TO ENGAGE EARLIER/HARDER THAN NORMAL. I THINK AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR WAS TRYING TO ELIMINATE SOME FRONT END NOSE DIVE WHEN YOU APPLIED THE BRAKES. BOTTOM LINE, REAR BRAKES ARE WEARING OUT AT AN EXCESSIVE RATE. *TR

  20. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Feb 17, 2010

ON A 2008 HONDA ACCORD BRAKES STARTED TO SQUEAK AT 24,000 MILES (HIGHWAY MILES), TOOK IT TO A HONDA DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT REAR BRAKES ARE WORN AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. ASKED WHY THE BRAKES WORE OUT WITH SO LITTLE MILES AND THEY SAID IT WAS DUE TO THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE AND THAT THE BRAKES ARE A "SOFT PAD". REAR BRAKES WERE REPLACED AND ROTORS WERE CUT. I PAID FOR THE COST OF REPLACING THE BRAKES. *TR
