  8. Power train, automatic transmission, control module (tcm/pcm/tecm)Aug 4, 2011

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.

THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.

HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

HONDA IS RECALLING AFTERMARKET FULL NOSE MASKS, PART NUMBER 08P35-TA0-100 AND 08P35-TA6-100 MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 9, 2007 THROUGH DECEMBER 11, 2007. THE ACCESSORY WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORD 4-DOOR VEHICLES. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE NOSE MASK MATERIAL TO INTERFERE WITH PART OF THE HOOD LATCH. IF THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY CLOSED AND THE NOSE MASK INTERFERES WITH THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MECHANISM THE HOOD MAY POP OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN.

THIS MAY RESULT IN REDUCED DRIVER VISIBILITY THAT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

HONDA IS ASKING OWNERS TO PLEASE REMOVE THE NOSE MASK IMMEDIATELY AND CALL ANY AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO RETURN THE NOSE MASK AND HAVE IT REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

VTC ACTUATOR MAKES LOUD RATTLE WITH ALMOST EVERY START. IT IS AN ENGINE PROBLEM ON 2007 TO 2012 HONDA CRV AS WELL AS 2008 TO 2012 ACCORDS. IF THIS PART FAILS, THE ENGINE WILL SEIZE UP AND COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL. HONDA HAS VERIFIED THE PROBLEM BUT SINCE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AT 75000 MILES, THEY REFUSE TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. GIVEN CASE NUMBER 04825102 AND CONTACTED PRODUCT CONCERNS DEPARTMENT BUT STILL REFUSED TO ADDRESS PROBLEM. VEHICLE HAS SERVICE NOTICE 09010. HONDA TECH CONFIRMED THEY HAVE HAD MAY PROBLEMS AND EVEN HAD TO GET A REPLACEMENT PART FOR THEIR REPLACEMENT PART. THIS NEEDS TO BE DEALT WITH BY HONDA, BUT THEY ARE NOT TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY.

TAKATA RECALL: CHECKED DATABASE FOR A YEAR AND MY CAR WAS NOT IN RECALL. THEN I GET A LETTER SAYING PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WAS HAZARDOUS. WAITING 3 WEEKS FOR PART AND HONDA WILL NOT PROVIDE A RENTAL CAR. TOLD NOT TO USE PASSENGER SEAT. DEALER CANNOT TELL ME WHEN PART WILL ARRIVE.

TAKATA RECALL*** RECEIVED NOTIFICATION VIA MAIL 7/23/16 THAT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR IS NOW PART OF RECALL, ADVISED NOT TO DRIVE WITH PASSENGER UNTIL ITS BEEN FIXED, BUT HONDA OFFERS NO INFORMATION ABOUT WHEN THAT WILL BE. CALLED HONDA ON 7/25 (NEXT BUSINESS DAY) TO REQUEST ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION, WAS TOLD TO ALSO FOLLOW UP WITH LOCAL HONDA DEALER. CALLED THEM, LEFT MESSAGE WITH "PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR REVIEWING". AFTER CALLING FOR TWO MORE DAYS AND TALKING WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE, LOCAL DEALER REP STATED THEY CAN DO NOTHING UNTIL NATIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE REVIEWS AND AUTHORIZES LOANER VEHICLE. CALLED NATIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE 7/28/16 TO FOLLOW UP ON REQUEST AS NO WORD FROM CASE MANAGER. WAS ON VACATION THE FOLLOWING WEEK SO NO FOLLOWUP, BUT NO CALL FROM HONDA EITHER. ON 8/8/16 (TWO WEEKS AFTER INITIAL REQUEST), CALLED AGAIN TO FOLLOW UP, DENISE CONFIRMED MY REQUEST IS IN THE ESCALATIONS QUEUE AND TO BE PATIENT. I FIND IT BEYOND RIDICULOUS THAT HONDA CANNOT STAFF THEMSELVES APPROPRIATELY TO DEAL WITH THIS RECALL SITUATION. EVERY DAY THAT GOES BY, WHILE I WAIT "PATIENTLY" IS ANOTHER DAY THAT HONDA OUR FAMILY RISKS INJURY OR DEATH FROM THE AIRBAG IN OUR VEHICLE AND IS ANOTHER DAY THAT HONDA DOESN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR A RENTAL VEHICLE TO ELIMINATE THE RISK OF THAT INJURY/DEATH. HONDA IS GAMBLING THAT OUR VEHICLE, THAT HAS SPENT ITS ENTIRE 8 YEARS OF EXISTENCE IN A PRIORITY (HUMID) LOCATION (FLORIDA), WON'T INJURE OR KILL US IN THE MEANTIME, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE GONE SO FAR AS TO ADVISE IN WRITING FOR NO ONE TO RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. DUE TO OUR CHILD SAFETY SEATS IN THE BACK FOR OUR CHILDREN, THERE IS NO OTHER VIABLE SEATING POSITION IN THIS VEHICLE AND THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. HONDA IS SANDBAGGING THE RENTAL VEHICLE REQUEST PROCESS. THEY NEED TO EXPEDITE REQUESTS FOR ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION BEFORE ANOTHER PERSON IS INJURED OR KILLED.

TAKATA RECALL I GET LETTER AFTER LETTER FROM HONDA PROMISING TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG. THE LATEST LETTER TELLS ME TO LET NO ONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. WHAT ABOUT THE DRIVER'S SEAT? YOU ARE NOT DOING YOUR JOB. YOU SHOULD TELL THEM THAT THEY CAN'T SELL ANY MORE CARS UNTIL THEY FIX THE ONES THEY HAVE SOLD. DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND WHY AMERICANS HATE THEIR GOVERNMENT?
