  10. Power train, automatic transmission, control module (tcm/pcm/tecm)Aug 4, 2011

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.

THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.

HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

HONDA IS RECALLING AFTERMARKET FULL NOSE MASKS, PART NUMBER 08P35-TA0-100 AND 08P35-TA6-100 MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 9, 2007 THROUGH DECEMBER 11, 2007. THE ACCESSORY WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORD 4-DOOR VEHICLES. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE NOSE MASK MATERIAL TO INTERFERE WITH PART OF THE HOOD LATCH. IF THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY CLOSED AND THE NOSE MASK INTERFERES WITH THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MECHANISM THE HOOD MAY POP OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN.

THIS MAY RESULT IN REDUCED DRIVER VISIBILITY THAT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

HONDA IS ASKING OWNERS TO PLEASE REMOVE THE NOSE MASK IMMEDIATELY AND CALL ANY AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO RETURN THE NOSE MASK AND HAVE IT REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

ABOUT A YEAR AGO WHEN I ARRIVED BACK HOME, MY BOYFRIEND (THE DRIVER) PUT THE CAR IN PARK, GOT OUT OF MY CAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING, I CLOSED THE DOOR, AND BOOM! ALL OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. MY KIDS WERE IN THE BACK SEAT IMMEDIATELY FRIGHTENED. THEY DID NOT INFLATE, THEY ONLY DROPPED. I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA, OPENED A CLAIM, BROUGHT MY CAR TO A LOCAL DEALER, AND OF COURSE I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS MY FAULT. THEY ARE BLAMING THE DEPLOYMENT ON AN ACCIDENT THAT A PREVIOUS OWNER HAD GOT INTO MANY YEARS AGO. AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, I TRIED CONTACTING AMERICAN HONDA AGAIN TO GET FURTHER EXPLANATION AND ANOTHER INSPECTION I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK.

  8. Air bags, Feb 2, 2016

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, A CITY STREET TRAVELING 30 MPH, AND MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THEY HAVE RECENTLY ANNOUNCED RECALLS ON 2008-2009 HONDA 4-DOOR ACCORDS FOR THE SENSITIVITY OF THE SIDE IMPACT SENSORS BEING TOO HIGH. THIS ISN'T AN ISSUE THAT'S EXCLUSIVE TO THEIR 4-DOOR SEDANS, AND ALSO RELATES TO THEIR 2 DOOR COUPE. AS A RESULT OF MY AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT I TOOK MY CAR TO HONDA AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO GIVE ME ANY EXPLANATION AS TO WHY MY AIRBAG DEPLOYED BUT WOULDN'T ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. I ALSO HAD MY INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND AFTER THEIR THOROUGH EXAMINATION THEY DEEMED IT A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. AS A RESULT OF THE INCIDENT I WOUND UP HAVING TO PAY $2600 FOR MY AIRBAGS TO BE REPLACED. OVERALL A VERY FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE FOR SOMEONE WHO WAS A LOYAL HONDA OWNER WHO WOUND UP ACCEPTING FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING WRONG.

  9. Air bags, Jan 22, 2016

TAKATA RECALL. I OWN A 2009 HONDA ACCORD 2-DR AND THE RECALL IS APPLIED TO THE 4-DR ONLY. HOWEVER, I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DESCRIBE MY CAR'S ISSUE BETTER THAN THE RECALL. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (I-35) WITH APPROX. 65 MPH, GOING STRAIGHT NOT TURNING IN ANY WAY. I HEARD A VERY LOUD POP NOISE AND MY PASSENGER'S SEAT AND CURTAIN AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED. HONESTLY, IT'S VERY HARD TO TELL IF I RAN OVER A POTHOLE OR IF I HIT A ROCK BECAUSE THE LOUD NOISE AND MY SHOCK DOMINATED THE MOMENT. THANKFULLY, I WAS COMMUTING ALONE THAT DAY AND NOBODY GOT HURT. I STOPPED THE CAR TO INSPECT IT AND I COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING. I FILLED A CLAIM WITH HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE NEAREST HONDA CENTER FOR A DIAGNOSIS ($120). HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE REQUESTED THAT ONE OF THEIR FIELD ENGINEERS INSPECTED THE CAR. AFTER HIS INSPECTION, HE DETERMINED THAT AN IMPACT CAUSED THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. WHEN I REQUESTED TO SEE THE IMPACT SIGNS, THEY POINTED A SCRATCH ON THE FRAME RAIL. THEY SAID THAT THE SCRATCH SEEMS MINOR ONLY BECAUSE IT HAPPENED ON THE TOUGHEST PART OF THE CAR, THE FRAME RAIL. THAT SCRATCH IS ALMOST UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SENSOR. I ASKED FOR MORE INFORMATION, SUCH AS THE THRESHOLD WHEN AN AIRBAG DEPLOYS, HOW DO THEY KNOW THAT THIS SCRATCH WAS NOT THERE BEFORE, ETC. THEY DIDN'T ANSWER MY QUESTIONS, INSTEAD THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SCRATCH WAS "FRESH". I'M ATTACHING THE PICTURES OF THE SCRATCH ON THE FRAME RAIL. IT'S NOT VERY OBVIOUS BUT LOOK AT THE SILVER SCRAPE. I DECIDED TO TAKE MY CAR TO MY INSURANCE (PROGRESSIVE). THEY WERE BAFFLED WITH WHAT THEY SAW AND THEY COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT SUCH SCRATCH WOULD CAUSE THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. THE ESTIMATOR HELPING ME WASN'T SURE IF THEY'LL COVER IT. HE'LL ELEVATE THE ISSUE AND CALL ME ON MONDAY. HONDA DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THIS AS A DEFECT SINCE THEY FOUND A SCRATCH. PROGRESSIVE MAY NOT FIX IT. NO CAR OUT OF NOWHERE!

I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY WHEN SOMEONE WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I TOOK IT IN TO BE CHECKED AT HONDA OF THE AVENUES IN JACKSONVILLE, FL. BUT THEY INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL ACTION DESIGNED TO SHUT OFF THE AIRBAG WHEN PERSONS LEAN IN THE PATH OF THE SIDE AIRBAG. I LET THEM KNOW THAT I WANTED TO HAVE THIS CHECKED, WHICH THEY TOLD ME IT WAS. FAST FORWARD TO OCT 2014 I HEARD OF THE AIRBAG PASSENGER PROBLEM AND CHECKED MY VIN. I WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BUT BECAUSE OF MY ORIGINAL CONCERN I CALLED FRONT RANGE HONDA IN COLORADO SPRINGS (WE MOVED) AND THEY RAN A CHECK OF MY SYSTEM ON 10/30/2014. FORTUNATELY THEY FOUND AND REPLACED THE FAULTY PASSENGER SEAT RAIL SENSORS WHEN THEY SHOWED AS MAJOR FAILURE! THANK GOODNESS I NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT TO TEST THE PASSENGER SENSOR'S! DASHBOARD ILLUSTRATES AND INDICATES "SIDE AIRBAG" IS TURNED OFF, RANDOMLY. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY(ONCE A WEEK), WHILE NOTHING IS BLOCKING OR CONFLICTING WITH IT'S NORMAL OPERATION. IN THE EVENT OF A SIDE COLLISION, I'M DEEPLY CONCERNED THIS COULD BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE OR FAULTY SENSORS FOR WHICH WILL NOT ALLOW THE AIR BAG TO WORK PROPERLY.. OR WORSE... NOT AT ALL. *TR

I TOOK MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD TO THE DEALERSHIP TO COMPLAIN THAT THE WARNING LIGHT WOULD COME ON INDICATING THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS WERE OFF. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT AN OBJECT OR PASSENGER IN THE SEAT WOULD AFFECT THIS INDICATOR. I ADVISED THEM THAT NOTHING WOULD BE IN THE SEAT WHEN THE LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENLY LIGHT UP. AFTER MUCH EFFORT THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SEAT BACK SENOR IN JANUARY 2014. THE PROBLEM SUBSIDED TEMPORARILY. TODAY THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR CONSTANTLY TURNS ON AND OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING REGARDLESS WHETHER ANYONE OR ANYTHING IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IF THE INDICATOR IS CORRECTLY MONITORING MY PASSENGER AIRBAGS, THEN I AM DRIVING MY CAR 70 % OF THE TIME WITHOUT THE BENEFIT OF PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS NEVER KNOWING IF THEY WILL DEPLOY PROPERLY, WHICH IS OUTRAGEOUS. I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA AND DESPITE LIVING IN A RECALL "HUMIDITY ZONE" (MIAMI, FLORIDA) MY HONDA WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THEIR LIMITED RECALL OF DEFECTIVE PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATORS. I THINK THIS IS ABSURD AND THE NHTSA NEEDS TO FORCE AMERICAN HONDA TO INCLUDE NEWER HONDA'S ON THEIR RECALL LIST FOR DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM MODULE BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO LOCATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,032.

I AM CURRENTLY HAVING WATER LEAKAGE FROM THE HEADLINER RIGHT WHERE THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS ARE LOCATED. THIS IS OCCURRING ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED NOT ONLY FOR THE DAMAGE THIS IS CAUSING TO MY VEHICLE BUT BECAUSE IF I WERE TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT I AM AFRAID THAT AIRBAGS WILL MALFUNCTION AND NOT DEPLOY. *TR
