  10. Power train, automatic transmission, control module (tcm/pcm/tecm)Aug 4, 2011

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.

THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.

HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

  11. EquipmentNov 18, 2009

HONDA IS RECALLING AFTERMARKET FULL NOSE MASKS, PART NUMBER 08P35-TA0-100 AND 08P35-TA6-100 MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 9, 2007 THROUGH DECEMBER 11, 2007. THE ACCESSORY WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORD 4-DOOR VEHICLES. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE NOSE MASK MATERIAL TO INTERFERE WITH PART OF THE HOOD LATCH. IF THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY CLOSED AND THE NOSE MASK INTERFERES WITH THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MECHANISM THE HOOD MAY POP OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN.

THIS MAY RESULT IN REDUCED DRIVER VISIBILITY THAT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

HONDA IS ASKING OWNERS TO PLEASE REMOVE THE NOSE MASK IMMEDIATELY AND CALL ANY AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO RETURN THE NOSE MASK AND HAVE IT REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

I OWN A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. AT AROUND 25000 MILES I HEARD A NOISE FROM THE REAR WHEELS. THE HONDA DEALER WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THE CAR TOLD ME MY BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I STATED THERE MUST BE SOME DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE OR BRAKES BECAUSE THE BRAKES SHOULD NOT NEED REPLACING THAT SOON AND THE REAR BRAKES SHOULD NEVER NEED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE THE FRONT BRAKES. THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND CHARGED ME THE FULL PRICE OF MORE THAN $250 FOR REPLACEMENT. THEY ADMITTED THE NEW BRAKE PADS WERE "A LONGER LASTING MATERIAL". I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE WELL-DOCUMENTED DEFICIENCY IN 2008-2009 ACCORD BRAKES AT THE TIME AND THE DEALER DID NOT MENTION THE ISSUE NOR OFFER ANY DISCOUNTS. *TR

RESULT OF CLASS ACTION, CUSTOMER MUST PAY FOR REPAIR AND SUBMIT RECEIPT FOR REFUND UPTO $150.00, BUT HONDA IS CHARGING $300.00 FOR THE REPAIR. I OWN A 2009 EX HONDA ACCORD. TOOK CAR TO GET NORMAL MAINTENANCE AT 14,000 MILES TO MY HONDA DEALERSHIP WHEN THEY TOLD ME THAT MY BACK BRAKES WERE ALMOST WORN DOWN TO NEEDING REPLACED. A COUPLE MONTHS LATER I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A NORMAL MAINTENANCE AT 21000 MILES AND SAID MY BACK BRAKES NEEDED REPLACED. NOW I AM STUCK PAYING $250 FOR BACK BRAKES ON A YEAR AND AHALF OLD ACCORD. EVEN THOUGH HONDA WILL GIVE ME UP TO $150 BACK. I THINK THAT THEY SHOULD RECALL THE VEHICLE AND PAY FOR THE FULL PRICE. ALSO THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF PEOPLE DON'T KNOW IF THERE BRAKES ARE BAD!!! I HAVE A 2009 HONDA ACCORD EX-L V6 WHICH I BOUGHT NEW IN AUGUST OF 2008. I NOTICED WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THAT A METALLIC SCRAPING SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE BRAKES THAT WENT AWAY WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALER WHO SAID THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS WERE WORN AND THAT THEY HAD BEEN GRINDING INTO THE REAR ROTORS. THERE WERE 31,480 MILES ON THE CAR AS I DRIVE MOSTLY HIGHWAY. PREMATURE WEAR AND WARPING OF BRAKE ROTORS. NOTICED ROTORS REQUIRED RESURFACING DUE TO VIBRATION DURING BRAKING. DEALERSHIP TURNED ROTORS, DROVE VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 700 MILES, AND THE PROBLEM RECURRED. RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP AND ALL ROTORS WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. PADS WERE ALSO REPLACED WITH MERELY 7000 MILES. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE LIFE EXPECTANCY OF BRAKE PADS FOR THIS VEHICLE WAS ABOUT 10,000 MILES. I FIND THAT TO BE ABSURD, TYPICALLY BRAKE PADS WILL LAST 20K-30K MILES. THERE APPEARS TO BE A FLAW IN THE MATERIALS USED TO MANUFACTURE THE PADS, IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS, OR PERHAPS THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY IS INAPPROPRIATE FOR THIS VEHICLE WEIGHT, CAUSING THE ROTOR TO OVER TEMP AND WARP IF NOT CAPABLE TO DISSIPATE THE EXCESS HEAT. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN IN EXTREMELY NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, PRIMARILY HIGHWAY DRIVING, AND HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A HARD BRAKING EVENT TO THAT POINT THAT MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THIS FAILURE. *TR

ON JULY 16TH I LEFT MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD IN TO MY TRUSTED MECHANIC FOR MY ANNUAL NEW YORK STATE SAFETY INSPECTION WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO FIX ANYTHING HE FINDS WRONG IN ORDER TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS, SO WHEN I RETURNED FROM OUT OF TOWN, I COULD PICK IT UP AND IT WOULD BE LEGAL AND SAFE. I WAS QUITE SURPRISED TO FIND THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE WORN TO THE POINT WHERE NEW PADS WERE NEEDED FOR IT TO PASS, WHICH HE REPLACED AS DIRECTED. SINCE IT ONLY HAS 23,400 MILES ON IT, A LOT OF THAT HIGHWAY DRIVING, I CALLED HONDA AND FOUND THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM, ALTHOUGH I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. WHEN I LOOKED ON THE SUGGESTED WEBSITE, ACCORDSETTLEMENT.COM, I READ WHERE YOU HAD TO HAVE HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED WITH HONDA BRAKE PADS IN ORDER TO RECEIVE COMPENSATION FOR THE PREMATURE WEAR, ALTHOUGH I CANNOT IMAGINE ANYONE WANTING TO REPLACE WITH ANOTHER BAD SET OF PADS AND HAVE THIS REOCCUR. SOMEHOW, SOMEONE SHOULD DIRECT OTHER ACCORDS (08 & 09) TO THIS WEBSITE SO THAT THEY CAN BE SURE TO KNOW THE CONDITIONS THAT MUST BE MET TO SATISFY HONDA'S REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCH COMPENSATION. *TR

2009 HONDA ACCORD- THE CAR HAD 200 MILES ON IT AND THE CVB BOOT WITH ALL THE BRAKE FLUID BROKE MAKING THE CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE. HAD TO ARGUE TO DEALER TO GET IT FIXED. THE CAR NOW HAS 11,900 MILES AND THE BRAKES SQUEAL, TOOK TO THE DEALER INFORMED HALF OF THE REAR BRAKES ARE GONE AND THAT THE SQUEALING CANBE FROM THE WEATHER. THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A NEW CAR. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST HONDA DUE TO THE BRAKES WEARING OUT PREMATURELY BUT THE CONSUMER HAS TO PAY FIRST TO HAVE THEM REPAIRED . SOMEONE NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THE SAFETY OF HONDA ACCORD BRAKING SYSTEM FOR 2008 AND 2009 MODELS.*TR
