  10. Power train, automatic transmission, control module (tcm/pcm/tecm)Aug 4, 2011

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.

THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.

HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

  11. EquipmentNov 18, 2009

HONDA IS RECALLING AFTERMARKET FULL NOSE MASKS, PART NUMBER 08P35-TA0-100 AND 08P35-TA6-100 MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 9, 2007 THROUGH DECEMBER 11, 2007. THE ACCESSORY WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORD 4-DOOR VEHICLES. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE NOSE MASK MATERIAL TO INTERFERE WITH PART OF THE HOOD LATCH. IF THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY CLOSED AND THE NOSE MASK INTERFERES WITH THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MECHANISM THE HOOD MAY POP OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN.

THIS MAY RESULT IN REDUCED DRIVER VISIBILITY THAT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

HONDA IS ASKING OWNERS TO PLEASE REMOVE THE NOSE MASK IMMEDIATELY AND CALL ANY AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO RETURN THE NOSE MASK AND HAVE IT REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED HAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND ENGAGING THE BRAKE PEDAL, A METAL TO METAL NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TWICE FOR THE DEFECT WHERE BOTH REAR BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED EACH TIME. IN ADDITION, THE REAR ROTORS WERE REPLACED ONCE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. UPDATED 10/10/12 *CN

I WENT TO HAVE MY CAR SERVICED AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT MY REAR BRAKES MEASURED AT 3MM AND THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE PADS AND RESURFACE THE ROTORS. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED ON A VEHICLE WITH THIS AMOUNT OF MILES,ALTHOUGH THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THIS IS A DEFECT THEY SAY IT IS OUT OF THEIR HANDS AND WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. *TR

  3. Service brakes, Aug 1, 2012

STARTED HEARING REAR BRAKE SQUEAKING. MENTIONED TO DEALER WHEN GETTING AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED THE REAR BRAKES REPLACED AT 20,493 MILES. I WAS GIVEN AN EXCUSE THAT THIS COULD BE DUE TO MY DRIVING HABITS. THE FRONT BRAKES SHOULD GO FIRST, SO I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT HAS BEEN APPROVED TO COVER $150 OF THE REPAIR WHICH I DO NOT FEEL IS ADEQUATE. IT APPEARS TO BE AN ENGINEER DESIGN ERROR ON THE 2008, 2009 AND SOME 2010 HONDA ACCORDS. I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND THEY SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM DUE TO THEIR OWN ERROR. WE PAY BIG BUCKS TO THESE CAR COMPANIES AND THEY NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE WHEN THEY CUT CORNERS OR THEIR ENGINEERS SCREW UP. *TR

  4. Service brakes, Jul 31, 2012

NOTICED THAT REAR BRAKES STARTED MAKING A HIGH PITCH SQUEALING NOISE. TOOK IT IN AND HAD THE ROTORS CLEANED AND THEY SAID BRAKES WERE FINE AND IT WAS A DEFECT ON HONDA CARS THAT THE BRAKES TEND TO SQUEAL. THE CLEANING DID NOT HELP AS IT STILL MAKES A HIGH PITCH SQUEALING NOISE. *TR

I AM FORTUNATE TO BE ALIVE AS MY BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING AND I WAS COMING OFF A RAMP BUT DRIVING IN THE SPEED LIMIT...THAT IS THE KEY. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES-BUT THE "BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING"A RELIABLE MECHANIC DID NOT DETECT ANYTHING-BUT I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKES WERE NOW WORKING FINE. THE MECHANIC AT THE FIRST PLACE SAID NOTHING WAS DETECTED-THERE WERE NO SIGNS VISUAL OR ELECTRONIC ( ON THE DASHBOARD)OF ANYTHING WRONG. HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING AND DAMAGED THE BRAKE BOOSTER. HOW WAS I TO HAVE KNOWN? THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF THIS ON THE DASH AND NO SIGN OF ANYTHING. I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE BECAUSE OF THE WAY I HANDLED THIS SITUATION. THEY ARE CHARGING ME A PRETTY PENNY AND I FEEL I HAVE A LEMON. THIS IS A PRODUCT DEFECT AND COULD HAVE KILLED MANY PEOPLE.THIS IS THE FIRST TIME BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN THE LAST TIME AS THE CAR COULD HAVE BEEN TOTALED ALONG WITH ME.IS THIS HOW ONE FINDS OUT ABOUT ISSUES WITH BRAKE BOOSTERS? I WANT MY MONEY BACK OR I WANT A NEW CAR. I AM VERY VERY UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS CAR NOW. *JS

REAR BRAKE WEAR SIGNAL INDICATOR STATED TO SQUEAL AND MAKE SCRAPING SOUNDS. INSPECTION REVEALS EXCESSIVE WEAR ON RIGHT REAR BRAKE. DEALER TOLD ME ON 09/13/2011, BRAKES ARE WARRANTED FOR 1 YEAR OR 12,000 MILES ONLY AND NO WARRANTY SERVICE WOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE. DEALER INFORMED ME ON 09/13/2011 THAT A FORM WILL BE PROVIDED, AS A RESULT OF LAW SUIT. THAT WOULD REIMBURSE ME $150.00. HOW CAN A LAWSUIT BE SUCCESSFUL WITHOUT A SAFETY RECALL? *TR
