  10. Power train, automatic transmission, control module (tcm/pcm/tecm)Aug 4, 2011

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.

THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.

HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

HONDA IS RECALLING AFTERMARKET FULL NOSE MASKS, PART NUMBER 08P35-TA0-100 AND 08P35-TA6-100 MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 9, 2007 THROUGH DECEMBER 11, 2007. THE ACCESSORY WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORD 4-DOOR VEHICLES. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE NOSE MASK MATERIAL TO INTERFERE WITH PART OF THE HOOD LATCH. IF THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY CLOSED AND THE NOSE MASK INTERFERES WITH THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MECHANISM THE HOOD MAY POP OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN.

THIS MAY RESULT IN REDUCED DRIVER VISIBILITY THAT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

HONDA IS ASKING OWNERS TO PLEASE REMOVE THE NOSE MASK IMMEDIATELY AND CALL ANY AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO RETURN THE NOSE MASK AND HAVE IT REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

  2. Service brakes, Air, Dec 24, 2009

I BOUGHT MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD LX ON DECEMBER 30, 2008. LESS THAN A MONTH AFTER THAT, MY BRAKES STARTED MAKING A HORRIFIC SQUEAKING SOUND EVERY TIME I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THEM. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF I TAP THEM LIGHTLY OR I PUSH DOWN HARD; THE BRAKES STILL MAKE TERRIBLE NOISES. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ONCE FOR THE BRAKE SOUNDS. ALL THREE TIMES, I ASKED THE ASSOCIATES TO CHECK THE BRAKES. EACH TIME, THEY SAID THE BRAKES WERE ADJUSTED (I.E. SANDED) AND THAT THE NOISE SHOULD CEASE. ON THE MY TRIP, I TOLD THEM WHATEVER THEY WERE DOING WASN'T WORKING. IT WAS THEN I WAS TOLD THAT HONDA ACCORDS SEEM TO HAVE A BRAKE ISSUE, BUT HONDA IS AWARE AND WORKING ON A SOLUTION. AS OF LAST WEEK, MY CAR IS NOT ONLY MAKING SQUEAKING NOISES WHEN I BRAKE, IT IS ALSO MAKING A HIGH-PITCHED GRINDING SOUND THAT IS AUDIBLE OVER MUSIC PLAYING ON A LOW VOLUME. THE NOISE OCCURS EVERY DAY, JUST LIKE THE BRAKES' NOISE HAPPENS DAILY. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED TO A CAR THAT WAS LESS THAN A MONTH OLD AND IS NOW LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. I HAVE A LITTLE OVER 25,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND FEEL EMBARRASSED TO HAVE TO DRIVE A CAR THAT LOOKS SO NICE BUT SOUNDS SO HORRIBLE. I FEAR GOING LONG DISTANCES BECAUSE I'M WORRIED MY BRAKES MAY NOT STOP ME IN TIME. HONDA NEEDS TO RECALL THE BRAKES AND REPLACE THEM NOW. HONDA OWNERS SIMPLY DO NOT DESERVE THIS. *TR

THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN... NOW, THE YEAR IS ENDING... AND THE NOISE IS THERE... I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO CONSIDERING FILING SUIT ... *TR

I TOOK MY BRAND NEW 2009 HONDA ACCORD LX INTO THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE SERVICE AT 12,700 MILES AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY REAR BRAKE PADS ARE FAILING AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED WITHIN 18,000 MILES. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE ACCORD'S AND THEY HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR OVER A YEAR FOR HONDA MOTOR CORP. TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AFTER READING ALL THE THOUSANDS OF CONSUMER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE REAR BRAKE PAD PREMATURE FAILURES IT IS OBVIOUS THAT MANY 2008 TO 2010 HONDA ACCORD'S ON THE ROAD ARE OPERATING IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CONDITION. I IMPLORE THE NHTSA TO FORCE HONDA MOTOR CORP. TO RECALL AND REPAIR ALL 2008 TO 2010 ACCORD'S WHICH IS THE RESPONSIBLE AND REASONABLE COURSE OF ACTION BEFORE PEOPLE ARE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DIE. *TR

2008 HONDA ACCORD, BRAKES NEEDED REPLACING AFTER NOISES STARTED COMING FROM THE REAR BRAKES, ROTORS SHOT, DRUMS NEEDED REPLACING, PADS GONE. ALL THIS HAPPENED AT 26210 MILES FOR A TOTAL OF $547.86. THE BRAKES WILL NEED REPLACING EVERY 20,000 MILES AS ADVISED BY THE HONDA DEALER. HONDA CLAIMS IT IS NOT A SAFETY PROBLEM - BULL - BRAKES ARE A SAFETY PROBLEM, HOW CAN HONDA ADVERTISE THEY HAVE A SAFE CAR AND HAVE BRAKES FAILING ON OVER 500 COMPLAINTS FILED TO DATE. THESE IDIOTS ARE PROTECTING THEIR STOCKHOLDERS AND RISKING THE COMMON PERSON. NTSB NEEDS TO GET A PAIR AND START INVESTIGATING HONDA'S LIES. EVERYONE WHO OWNS A HONDA ACCORD SHOULD START A MASSIVE COMPLAINT SYSTEM TO GET HONDA TO FIX THE PROBLEM. PEOPLE COUNT, NOT STOCKHOLDERS. HONDA USE TO BE A GREAT CAR - THIS ONE IS A PILE OF CRAP SO THEIR STOCKHOLDERS CAN GET MORE MONEY. HONDA NEEDS TO STEP UP AND FIX THE PROBLEM OR GET THE HELL OUT OF THIS COUNTRY, FORD STANDS BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT, MAYBE HONDA SHOULD FIND OUT OF AMERICANS TAKE CARE OF THEIR PEOPLE. *TR

  16. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Oct 30, 2009

THE BRAKES ON MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD, PURCHASED AT "COURTESY PALM HARBOR HONDA" STARTED SQUEALING BADLY AT 19,000 MILES. I HAVE NOTICED FOR THE PAST THREE MONTHS THAT THE CAR SEEMED TO ACTUALLY SLOW DOWN MORE THAN NORMAL WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS -- AS IF THE BRAKES WERE NOT FULLY RELEASED. I'VE ALSO NOTICED REDUCED FUEL EFFICIENCY. ABOUT A WEEK AGO, THE BRAKES STARTED SQUEALING BADLY, AS IF THE PADS WERE FULLY WORN. I FIGURED THE PROBLEM COULDN'T BE THE BRAKE PADS AT 19K MILES, SO I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALER TODAY. TURNS OUT THE REAR BRAKE PADS ARE COMPLETELY WORN DOWN AND IT IS THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN'S OPINION THAT THE CAUSE IS MY STYLE OF DRIVING -- NOT A DEFECTIVE HONDA PROBLEM. AFTER TELLING HIM THAT I DRIVE WITH ONLY ONE FOOT (I DON'T HOLD MY LEFT FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHILE DRIVING), HE STATED THAT ACCORDS ARE BUILT WITH AUTOBAHN QUALITY, HIGH-PERFORMANCE BRAKE PARTS THAT ARE REALLY SOFT FOR ENHANCED BRAKING ABILITY. I TOLD HIM THAT I HARDLY FEEL THAT THIS BASE-MODEL ACCORD WOULD BE CONSIDERED A "HIGH PERFORMANCE" VEHICLE. NEVERTHELESS, THE "SOFT / HIGH-QUALITY PADS" AND MY DRIVING STYLE WAS HIS REASON (ACCORDING TO HIM) FOR THE PREMATURE WEARING OF THE BRAKES. I'VE OWNED 15+ CARS IN MY LIFE TIME AND HAVE NEVER HAD BRAKE PADS WEAR DOWN IN LESS THAN 40,000 MILES - ESPECIALLY REAR BRAKES! I TOLD THE TECH THAT AFTER DOING EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A VERY WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM WITH ACCORDS. HE SAID HIS HANDS WERE TIED AND HE COULDN'T OFFER ME ANY RELIEF WITHOUT HONDA CORP'S. BLESSING. THE SERVICE TECH TOLD ME THE PADS WERE NICE AND EVENLY WARN. I CHANGED THE BRAKE PADS MYSELF AND FOUND THE OPPOSITE TO BE TRUE - THE INNER PAD WAS WAY MORE WORN OUT THAN THE OUTER - INDICATION A BRAKE SYSTEM DEFECT. *TR

I'VE CONTACTED HONDA USA AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR ENGINEERS HAVE IDENTIFIED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON 2008 AND 2009 ACCORDS. THE COMPANY CLAIMS THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY, AND WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF REPLACING THE BRAKES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED, AND YET ACCORD OWNERS HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED NOR HAS A RECALL BEEN ISSUED. *TR

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AT DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE CAR NEEDED REAR BRAKES. THE CAR IS NEW AND HAS ONLY 16,000 MILES ON IT. I GOT AN OUTSIDE MECHANIC'S OPINION AND WAS TOLD THE CAR DOES NEED REAR BRAKES, HOWEVER, IN HIS OPINION THIS SHOULD BE WARRANTY WORK. HE SAID REAR BRAKES SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED THIS SOON. NOW I SEE FROM THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE, I AM NOT ALONE. 2008 AND 2009 ACCORDS HAVE A PROBLEM AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. NHTSA, PLEASE DO SOMETHING. *TR

MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD HAS 15,000 MILES AND I WAS JUST INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE REAR BRAKES HAVE COMPLETELY WORN OUT. I INFORMED THEM OF SQUEAKING BRAKES AT 7,500 MILES AND WAS ASSURED THIS IS NORMAL. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT IT IS NORMAL FOR REAR BRAKES TO NEED REPLACEMENT ANYWHERE FROM 12,000 TO 18,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED IN A RECALL, ESPECIALLY AFTER SEEING SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME ISSUE. *TR

REAR BRAKES ARE SHOT. WENT IN FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE,FLUIDS TOPPED,TIRES ROTATED,AND EVERYTHING LOOKED AT. MECHANIC CAME OUT AND SAID BRAKES ARE SHOT (CAR IS AN '09 HONDA ACCORD BOUGHT NEW) SAYS IT'S AN ISSUE ON 08 AND 09'S BUT IS A WARE ITEM AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I DID A WEB SEARCH AND FOUND IT'S NOT ONLY ME. *TR

BRAND NEW HONDA ACCORD COUPLE 2009 HAS HAD SQUEAKY BREAKS SINCE 1000 MILES. I LEASED THE CAR IN FEB. 2009. HONDA, ALTHOUGH MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS AROUND THE COUNTRY, HAS DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ON A RECALL, ETC. *TR

HONDA ACCORD 2008 REAR BRAKE PADS WEAR DOWN TOO FAST, SEE: HTTP://WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/HONDA/ACCORD/2008/BRAKES/PREMATURE_BRAKE_WEAR.SHTML. THEY DIE WITHIN 15K TO 25K IN MOST CASES. THOUGH NOT AN IMMEDIATE HAZARD, EVENTUALLY THERE MAY BE MANY HONDA ACCORDS ON THE ROAD WITH WORN BRAKE PADS. *TR
