  10. Power train, automatic transmission, control module (tcm/pcm/tecm)Aug 4, 2011

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.

THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.

HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

  11. EquipmentNov 18, 2009

HONDA IS RECALLING AFTERMARKET FULL NOSE MASKS, PART NUMBER 08P35-TA0-100 AND 08P35-TA6-100 MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 9, 2007 THROUGH DECEMBER 11, 2007. THE ACCESSORY WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORD 4-DOOR VEHICLES. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE NOSE MASK MATERIAL TO INTERFERE WITH PART OF THE HOOD LATCH. IF THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY CLOSED AND THE NOSE MASK INTERFERES WITH THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MECHANISM THE HOOD MAY POP OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN.

THIS MAY RESULT IN REDUCED DRIVER VISIBILITY THAT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

HONDA IS ASKING OWNERS TO PLEASE REMOVE THE NOSE MASK IMMEDIATELY AND CALL ANY AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO RETURN THE NOSE MASK AND HAVE IT REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

2009 HONDA ACCORD LX-P SEDAN. THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER EVERY 30 SECONDS WHILE A/C OR DEFROSTER IS ON. THIS IS AT ALL TIMES, WHETHER SITTING OR AT 60MPH ON HIGHWAY. *TR

FLICKERING HEADLIGHTS ON 2009 HONDA ACCORD - THIS HAPPENS AT SOMEWHAT REGULAR INTERVALS, EXTREMELY ANNOYING AND HAS AN IMPACT ON THE DRIVER'S ABILITY TO FOCUS (SINCE I AM ALWAYS WAITING FOR THE NEXT FLICKER). *TR

  3. Steering, Jun 7, 2009

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ONE MORNING IN MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD. I MADE A LEFT TURN, AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP ON ME. I COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. I WAS STUCK IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I ALMOST GOT HIT ON THE LEFT SIDE BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. A FEW DAYS LATER, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHO INSTALLED ME A NEW STEERING COLUMN. A FEW DAYS BEFORE THE LOCKING UP OF THE STEERING WHEEL, I KEPT HEARING A CLICKING NOISE WHENEVER I MAKE A TURN. AFTER THE LOCKING UP OF THE STEERING WHEEL, THE CLICKING NOISE CONTINUED. THAT'S WHEN I DECIDED TO CALL THE DEALER. AFTER THE FIRST LOCKING UP, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP A COUPLE MORE TIMES. *TR

  4. Parking brake, Jun 2, 2009

JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, I AM EXPERIENCING BRAKES ISSUE. IT IS WITH GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT THAT I HAD PURCHASED A CAR THAT SQUEALS. I STARTED HEARING THE BRAKES AT 7000 MILES. INITIALLY I THOUGHT MY BRAKES ARE ALREADY DEPLETED BUT WONDERED, WITH SUCH A LOW MILEAGE, IT COULDN'T HAVE BEEN THE CASE. I BROUGHT IT TO THE HONDA SERVICE CENTER AND THEY MENTIONED THAT MY BRAKE PADS ARE IN PERFECT CONDITION AND THE REASON FOR THE NOISE IS THAT THE MATERIALS USED IN MANUFACTURING THE BRAKES MAKES THAT HORRIBLE NOISE. I COMPLAINED AT AMERICAN HONDA AND TALKED TO ALBERT CHAN - THE HIGHEST RANKING CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON IN THIS REGION (WEST COAST) AND HE SAID, AND I QUOTE "IT IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF A HONDA ACCORD TO HAVE THE BRAKES MAKE THE NOISE AS OF RIGHT NOW". HE EVEN MENTIONED THAT AMERICAN HONDA THINKS THAT THIS IS NOT 'YET' AN ISSUE. SAD TO SAY, THEY HAVE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND POOR CAR QUALITY. TO THINK I BOUGHT THE TOP OF THE LINE HONDA ACCORD - WITH ALL THE FIXINGS! *TR

  5. Exterior lighting, Jun 1, 2009

WHEN VEHICLE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON, HEADLIGHTS AND OTHER LIGHTING DIM NOTICEABLY. HEADLIGHTS ARE THE MOST WORRISOME AS DIMINISHED LIGHTING CAN MAKE NIGHT DRIVING HAZARDOUS. ON-COMING VEHICLES HAVE "FLASHED" THEIR LIGHTS IN RESPONSE TO THIS "FLICKER". HONDA STATES THIS A NORMAL ATTRIBUTE OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR

I OWN A 2008 HONDA ACCORD AND HAVE ABOUT $17,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED PREMATURELY. I KNOW THIS IS A COMPLAINT FROM HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO OWN THE HONDA ACCORD. I CALLED HONDA OF AMERICA AND THEY ARE DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. THEY HAVE COMPLETELY DISMISSED THE WHOLE ISSUE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I PURCHASED THE HONDA FOR ITS REPUTATION OF SAFETY AND RELIABILITY AND THIS IS DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS.*TR

IT SOUNDS LIKE A VERY CHEAP CAR INSTEAD OF A HIGH END HONDA ACCORD. 2) AT LOW SPED AND I MAKE A SHARP TURN, THE POWER STEERING PULSATES. 20. Air bags, Jan 12, 2009

NO CRASH YET, BUT CRASH LIKELY. 2009 HONDA ACCORD HAS DIM HEAD LIGHTS THAT CREATE A BLACK BLANKET IN FRONT OF DRIVER AND NARROWS ON ANY DIP IN ROAD. VISIBILITY VERY POOR, AND THE BLACK BLANKET EFFECT IN FRONT OF YOU MOVES UP AND DOWN BECAUSE CAR BOUNCES ALOT DUE TO STIFF SUSPENSION WITH A WHEEL SYSTEM THAT IS TOO BIG FOR CAR , THUS CREATING THE NEED FOR A LOW PROFILE TIRE THAT CAUSES CAR TO BOUNCE ALOT. THE DRIVER IS VERY LIKELY TO WRECK UNDER SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES. THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE IS TO RUN WITH YOUR BRIGHT LIGHTS ON AND THEN BLIND FELLOW ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HONDA SHOULD RECALL THESE CARS, AND CONSUMERS SHOULD BE WARNED. DEALER STATES LIGHT CANNOT BE ADJUSTED DUE TO GOVERNMENT REGULATION, BUT THEY WERE GOING TO ADJUST MY LIGHTS AT FIRST, BUT I WAS TOLD NOT TO TURN BRIGHT LIGHTS ON SO AS NOT TO BLIND ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE SALESMAN TOLD ME THAT I WAS TENTH PERSON TO BRING CAR IN TO BE ADJUSTED. I BECAME ANGRY THAT I MIGHT BE AT FAULT IF A WRECK OCCURRED , AND SUGGESTED THAT THEY WERE DOING SOMETHING WRONG IF GOVERNMENT SAID LIGHTS SHOULD BE ONE WAY, BUT AFTER CAR BOUGHT, LIGHT ADJUSTED ANOTHER WAY. THEY THEN REFUSED TO ADJUST MY LIGHT BECAUSE THEY BECAME AFRAID OF ATTORNEY GENERAL THREAT. THEY ALSO THEN CHANGED THEIR STORY ABOUT THE 10 PEOPLE. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED, AND I HAVE ONE OF THESE CARS WHICH IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. HONDA SHOULD BE MADE TO REIMBURSE US. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DRIVE A DANGEROUS CAR. I TRIED TO RETURN MY VEHICLE AFTER BUYING IT ON A SATURDAY AT CLOSING, THEN DISCOVERING THIS DEFECT ON SUNDAY. I RETURNED VEHICLE ON MONDAY, BUT THEY WOULD NOT RESCIND THE DEAL. *TR

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

HEADLIGHTS ON BRAND NEW 2009 LX-P 4 CYLINDER HONDA ACCORD FLICKER MOMENTARILY ABOUT EVERY 15 SECONDS WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT IS DISTRACTING TO THE DRIVER AND ALSO BECAUSE IT COULD BE INTERPRETED AS AGGRESSIVE DRIVING BY OTHER DRIVERS. HONDA IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY SAY IT IS "NORMAL". FLICKERING HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT NORMAL...THEY ARE DANGEROUS! *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 (NA) HONDA ACCORD. WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ACTIVATED, THE HEADLIGHTS MOVE UP AND DOWN INTERMITTENTLY. THE LIGHTS ALSO DIM AND FLICKER WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT ALL THE 2009 ACCORDS PERFORMED IN THAT MANNER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 827. UPDATED 10/16/08. *LJ UPDATED 10/17/08. *JB
