  2. Power train, driveline, driveshaftDec 10, 2020

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2013-2015 Accord vehicles equipped with a 4-cylinder engine and a continuously-variable transmission that were originally sold, or ever registered, in Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. The drive shafts were assembled with a lubricant that may have degraded the drive shafts' protective coating, making it more susceptible to damage from road salt or other contaminants, and potentially cause it to break.

A broken drive shaft may cause a sudden loss of drive power. The vehicle could also roll away if the parking brake has not been applied before the vehicle has been exited. Either condition can increase the risk of a crash or injury.

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the drive shafts, replacing both the left and right drive shafts, if necessary, free of charge. The recall began February 4, 2021. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138.

  3. Electrical system, 12v/24v/48v batteryJun 29, 2017

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Honda Accord vehicles. The case for the battery sensor, part of the battery management system, may allow water to get in, potentially causing an electrical short.

An electrical short increases the risk of a fire.

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the sensor, free of charge. Dealers will perform an interim remedy of applying adhesive to the case to prevent water intrusion. The recall began November 8, 2017. Owners may contact American Honda Customer Support Center at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is KG0.

  4. Engine and engine cooling, engineMar 2, 2015

American Honda Motor Co. (Honda) is recalling certain model year 2014 Accord L4 vehicles manufactured July 29, 2014, to July 31, 2014, 2015 Accord L4 vehicles manufactured August 14, 2014, to January 30, 2015, and 2015 CR-V vehicles manufactured September 9, 2014, to February 6, 2015. The affected vehicles may have been assembled with improperly torqued connecting rod bolts, which can cause the engine to lose power or leak oil.

Loss of engine power may result in a vehicle stall, increasing the risk of a crash. If the engine leaks oil in the proximity of hot engine or exhaust components, there is an increased risk of a fire.

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the engine short block, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2015. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is JP2 (for Accord models) and JP3 (for CR-V models).

  1. Steering, Sep 13, 2026

Safety Complaint: Total Electric Power Steering Failure – 2014 Honda Accord Touring V6 I own a 2014 Honda Accord Touring V6 with approximately 130,000 miles. The vehicle is currently out of warranty. On XXX, while driving at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly experienced a total loss of power steering. The steering became locked, and we barely had enough time to safely move the vehicle to the shoulder of the highway. This was an extremely dangerous situation and could have resulted in a serious accident, injury, or death. The vehicle is currently unsafe to drive because of the steering failure. A Honda dealer has quoted thousands of dollars to repair the vehicle. The Electric Power Steering (EPS) Module/Computer, part number 39980-T2G-305, alone was quoted at approximately 743, in addition to approximately 238 in dealer diagnostic fees and labor, which could itself exceed 1,000. I am concerned that Honda has not issued a safety recall for this potentially dangerous steering failure, despite this issue reportedly occurring in multiple Honda vehicles, including vehicles other than the Accord. Honda has issued a technical service bulletin regarding the issue, but a bulletin does not provide the same remedy or consumer protection as a safety recall. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this potentially serious safety defect and intervene to help ensure that affected vehicles are properly repaired. A sudden and complete loss of steering assistance, particularly at highway speeds, presents an extremely serious safety hazard to the occupants of the vehicle and other motorists. NOTE : I also humbly request NHTSA to intervene and help us getting the car fixed which is currently unsafe to drive with steering locked. Attached is the quote from local Honda Dealer in [XXX]. They want us to tow the car to their location but I currently cannot afford these repairs. --- INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  2. Steering, Sep 7, 2026

The steering wheel of the 2014 Honda Accord feels heavy all of a sudden.

  3. Steering, Aug 4, 2026

2014 Honda Accord Hybrid experienced a sudden, complete loss of electric power steering assist immediately upon vehicle startup, illuminating the EPS dash warning light. The steering became extremely heavy and physically difficult to turn, rendering the vehicle unsafe to operate on public roads. An onboard diagnostic check retrieved a hard Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 53, which explicitly indicates an EPS Torque Sensor failure. Honda is fully aware of this defect and issued Service Bulletin 15-056 (Sep. 2018), which extends the EPS warranty to 13 years for this exact year and model. However, when checking my vehicle's 17-digit VIN, Honda's database excludes my car from the coverage range. This vehicle is suffering from the identical manufacturing defect and component failure outlined in Bulletin 15-056, but I am locked out of the safety repair solely due to an arbitrary VIN database boundary. I am filing this report because the underlying safety defect clearly extends beyond Honda's designated VIN cut-off range.

  4. Steering, Electrical system, Service brakes, Jul 29, 2026

The VSA module failed, causing 5 warning lights to illuminate. This module controls ABS, traction control, and power steering. All of these systems involve the safe operation of the vehicle. The module failed due to a flawed design; the module contains 20-30 very fine connecting wires that frequently break due to vibration and temperature changes. VBS module failures are extremely common on 2008-20017 Honda Accords. Honda charges up to $4,000 to repair their flawed design to return the car to a safe operating condition. It is unconscionable that the consumer should have to pay such an expense to repair their mistake or to drive the car as is, and risk a catastrophic failure. A recall for these modules should be declared to protect the public from accident and injury.

  5. Steering, Power train, Dec 15, 2025

2014 Honda Accord Hybrid purchased new, completed all routine and recommended maintenance over its life. - The passenger side drive shaft failed on May 5, 2025, pulling into our driveway, and it fell out of the bottom of the car onto the pavement. - The driver’s side drive shaft failed on December 4, 2025, leaving a shopping center parking lot, and it fell out of the bottom of the car onto the pavement. Attached are photos of both driveshafts, which clearly show the similarities in the failures. I have the parts for the driver’s side in my possession and am happy to furnish them for analysis. These failures are catastrophic in that the vehicle was rendered undrivable with a loss of control without warning. This vehicle is used daily for highway commuting and had this failure occurred on the highway at 65 mph, I believe it would have caused a serious crash of this vehicle and likely caused a multi-vehicle accident given the sudden nature of the failure and the lack of control the vehicle experienced upon failure. Honda Service Bulletin 20-125 appears to address a very similar concern for Honda Accord “CVT models.” The photos and inspection area listed in that bulletin seem to indicate that my car experienced a similar failure (Bulletin attached); however, I was told by the dealership that my VIN was not subject to the recall. I believe the vehicle is subject to a similar defect as described in the Service Bulletin for other Honda Accord models and believe it should be investigated and included in the recall. These failures have cost $2,279.47 in repair fees, approximately $400 in emergency towing and do not seem to be in line with routine maintenance or "wear and tear".

  6. Steering, Nov 19, 2025

On 11/18/2025, while driving my 2014 Honda Accord 2.4L (VIN: [XXX] ), I experienced a sudden and dangerous safety failure. Without any warning, the steering became extremely hard and almost locked, making it nearly impossible to turn or control the vehicle. At the same moment, several warning indicators appeared on the dashboard, including: ABS warning VSA warning Brake System warning Because of this failure, the vehicle became unsafe to operate, and I was forced to stop. I could not continue driving due to the risk of losing control of the car. When I checked the recall information online, the system showed that my VIN has an active recall notification, but when I took my vehicle to the dealership (Victory Honda of Plymouth), they informed me that my specific issue is not covered under that recall, even though the symptoms match known ABS/VSA safety failures. The dealership stated that they will not repair the ABS/VSA issue unless I pay out of pocket, despite the steering nearly locking and the vehicle becoming unsafe. Since this involves loss of steering control, it represents a major safety hazard that could lead to a crash. I am requesting an investigation and guidance on whether this failure should be considered a safety-related repair and whether my VIN should be reviewed for inclusion in the recall, given the severity of the incident. 7. Steering, Oct 14, 2025

The steering sticks and the assisted steering goes on and off without warning making it dangerous driving. Almost caused a collision. Steering light comes on and off. It sounds like the recall of the steering issue found on other Honda accords for 2014 of other VINs.

  8. Steering, Jul 31, 2025

Power Steering Failure on multiple occasions dating back to November of 2023. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk because the steering wheel would lock while car was in motion, at times while making a turn, preventing me from operating my vehicle safely. The problem has been confirmed by three independent service centers: Meineke, located at 9640 S Cicero Ave, Oak Lawn, IL; Reyes Auto Care, located at 9200 Kilpatrick Ave, Oak Lawn, IL; Highline Automotive, located at 11332 SW Hwy, Palos Hills, IL. Vehicle has been inspected by independent mechanics who all came to the conclusion of power steering issue, requiring system update or total replacement of gearbox and/or rack and pinion. Warning lights come on when issue starts. Has been ongoing since I acquired car in Nov of 2023

  9. Steering, Fuel system, Gasoline, Jul 28, 2025

The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the vehicle jerked and unexpectedly downshifted. The steering wheel warning light, check engine warning light, ABS, and TPS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the high-pressure fuel pump had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several years ago, and the steering wheel seized. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.

  10. Steering, Service brakes, Jul 16, 2025

Brake and power steering lights come on and off. Occasionally power steering malfunctions. The cause has been diagnosed as the abs module. I will have to get it rebuilt. The wiring is a known issue with Honda.

  11. Steering, Jun 9, 2025

Power steering goes out during driving. In order for power steering to work again, you must pull over, shut off the car and restart it. It has mostly happen while we have been driving on straight highways and roads and luckily it hasnt happened during any curvy roads or turns. This is one of our main cars we use to drive around town and travel with for adults and children. We took it in to mechanic shop and was told it may be the ABS sensor and they are ordering parts to replace it to see if that fixes the problem. The FCW, check engine, and sliding lights have been turning on and off.

  12. Steering, Suspension, Service brakes, Mar 11, 2025

Vehicle drives fine but a week ago the steering, traction, ABS, & brake lights all lit up on my Accord's dashboard. Took car to our regular mechanic, who then conducted diagnostic testing. This in turn, indicated that the ABS control module is the cause. Steering, traction, & braking are quite vital in the safe manuerving of stopping & controlling a vehicle in motion. If unable to manageable do so, I, as well as many others are potentially at risk.

  13. Steering, Electrical system, Service brakes, Jan 23, 2025

The ABS light is on. brake light is on Auto shop said I need a new ABS module. Also the power steering light is on.

  14. Steering, Electrical system, Jan 16, 2025

When driving at low speeds, for example looking for parking in my work parking lot, my 2014 Honda accord coupe lost power steering. Steering wheel became heavy and hard to turn. The screens flickered on the radio and the car felt like a manual car when it stalls. With every turn of the wheel the car would try to shut off. No warning light came on the dash. There was a car behind me when it happened. Even though it was a parking lot, the car behind me almost rear ended me since the car started to try to shut off when i was making a turn into the parking spot and he/she did not expect my car to stop before i completed the turn. This just happened an hour ago and since i had to come in to work I haven't taken it for a diagnoses yet.

  17. Steering, Nov 20, 2024

When I perform a parallel parking maneuver, I turn the steering wheel fully to the right or left and begin backing up slowly. As I reach the halfway point and attempt to turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction, it becomes stiff and difficult to move, as if it’s frozen.

  18. Steering, Service brakes, Nov 7, 2024, fire

What happened? While driving my 2014 Honda Accord, both the brake and steering warning lights suddenly illuminated. The steering became difficult, indicating a loss of power steering assist. I pulled over safely and discovered that the ABS light remained on. After towing the vehicle to a service center, the technician confirmed that the ABS pump/module had failed, which triggered both warning lights and caused a failure in the power steering system. This malfunction poses a serious safety risk, potentially leading to loss of braking efficiency and steering control. The failure was sudden, with no prior warning signs. The service center advised that the ABS module requires replacement. Legal Protections and Manufacturer Liability: As a consumer, I am protected under state lemon laws and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. These laws mandate that vehicles sold must be free from defects affecting safety and performance. The ABS pump/module failure directly compromises the vehicle’s safety, making Honda responsible for repair or replacement. I should not bear the cost of this repair, as the issue is a manufacturing defect. Widespread Safety Issue and Call for Investigation: It has come to my attention that thousands of 2014 Honda Accords are experiencing the same ABS pump/module failure, a clear safety issue that affects both the braking and steering systems. This is a widespread defect that Honda has yet to acknowledge with a formal recall. This issue appears to be purposefully hidden, and I urge Honda to initiate a thorough investigation and recall to address this danger. If Honda does not act quickly, I will pursue legal action to ensure the safety of affected consumers, including complaints to regulatory bodies and potential class action litigation.

  19. Steering, Oct 16, 2024, crash

While driving on the road at about 45 MPH the power steering locked and the vehicle pulled off the road. The dealer ship stated is a known issue with faulty steering motors but the vehicle is not on a recall. This is hazardous and potentially deadly situation to be in.

  20. Steering, Electrical system, Service brakes, Sep 26, 2024

Multiple Lights on Dashboard: ABS, EPS, Parking Brake, VSA, TPMS. Lights were intermittent at first, then became permanent. Car still runs and drives fine but ABS and Traction Control do not function. Local Mechanic scanned for codes and found the following: 121-11 VSA Solenoid Valve Malfunction 81-20 Central Processing Unit internal circuit malfunction 85-01 VSA system malfunction Local Mechanic has seen this before and recommended replacement of the VSA Modulator Valve assembly (Part number 04571-T2F-L01). Repair has not been completed. Transmission died (CVT belt Broke) at around 195,000 miles and about 6 months after VSA system issue started. Unsure if the problems were related. Car now has a new Transmission.

  21. Steering, Sep 24, 2024

While driving, the Electric Power Steering system stopped working and the EPS warning light came on. I had to forcefully steer the car to the shoulder with great difficulty and shut the car off. I sat on the shoulder for approximately 10 minutes, restarted the car, noted the steering appeared to be functioning properly and began to continue home only to have the same issue again within 2 minutes of pulling away from the shoulder of the road. I managed to forcibly steer the car back onto the shoulder of the road and called for a tow truck to take it to a shop and the family home. The ship advised there was no fault code found with their system tools and that the issue may be with the electronics on the car needing to be reviewed/updated/replaced by Honda. It is my understanding this is not an isolated incident and could have resulted in a major crash had I not utilized my training as a police officer and accident reconstruction s[pecialist with the PD to recognize the issue and manage to keep the car safely in control until safely stopped.

  22. Steering, Electrical system, Service brakes, Jul 30, 2024

All kinds of failure on dashboards. Codes 81-19 and 81-20. Mechanic said there is a chance abs brakes and traction control isn't working. Said this is very common for my car and that I should take it directly to Honda.

  23. Steering, Vehicle speed control, Service brakes, Jun 27, 2024

In the dashboard, EPS (Electronic Power Steering), VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist), ABS (Anti Lock Brake system), and BRAKE lights would turn on and off Intermittently. The lights could turn on starting the car in the morning or after driven for some time, for short period of time - 15 minutes to long period of time - 60 minutes. When these lights are on initially, a clank could be typically heard. When driven and slowed to around 10 MPH, the high-to-low whine could be heard. At low speeds, the car jerks on deaccelearation and acceleration. The car may be difficult to drive smoothly at low speeds. OBDII reader found no fault codes. Reports of other cars with simillar problem indicate issue with ABS module, wheel speed sensor, and/or battery.

  24. Steering, May 17, 2024

My vehicle is pulling and steering is getting hard and unable to control. I was driving my vehicle with my child when I steering wheel locked up and jerked the right almost causing me to side swipe another vehicle. This is a known issue with this year, make and model of Honda and it has not been recalled. Vehicle was inspected by a mechanic and deemed unsafe because of power steering failure
