Representative owner complaints: fuel/propulsion system

This car came with problem and i want to this if honda can fix it for free since its they mistake

  2. Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 1, 2025

Vehicle had a sudden loss of power. Pulled over on highway had to restart. Engine warning said Emission system problem. Had diagnostic done several codes PO300,PO301,PO302,PO303,PO304,PO172. Problem seems to be similar to the service bulletin 22-002 dated Feb 18,22 for the Honda Accord 2015-2016. It seems to be a known issue with this engine. Honda should take care of this safety issue.

  3. Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 25, 2025

While attempting to pass a slower vehicle in my 2018 Honda Accord with a 1.5L engine, the suddenly lost power and stalled down to 20 mph while I was alongside the other vehicle. This unexpected power loss put my life and the lives of others at serious life threatening risk. I immediately brought the care to a Honda dealership, where the tech was able to reproduce the issue. The performed a borescope inspection and confirmed that coolant was present inside one of the cylinders, indicating a failed cylinder head gasket. This type of failure should not happen, especially on a vehicle like this. I was the repair would cost $6,500. After researching, I learned that this is a known defect affecting the 1.5L engine and that multiple class action lawsuits have been filed. I also discovered that American Honda is aware of the problem and has instructed dealership service departments to report affected vehicles. In fact, they have even offered gift cards to service advisors who report these cases, but are charging customers for the repairs. That's nonsense. Just do a simple google search and you will discover what I did. During the failure, the check engine light and several other warning lights came on but only the check engine remained on. Since then the car has multiple indicator lights on. Despite multiple attempts to follow-up, the dealership has refused to return my calls. This is a serious life threatening safety concern that deserves immediate investigation. Thank you. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  4. Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 25, 2025

Honda has known for years that the 1.5L engines installed in 2018 or newer Honda Accords have issues with oil dilution causing major catastrophic engine failures, head gasket damage, fluids leaking into the cylinders, and costly repairs to cars with less than 86000 miles on them. Honda Corporation needs to address this concern before someone dies when the cars engine fails on the highway. My vehicles engine failed on a major road when I pushed on the gas peddle and had no power due to these concerns. Dealership stated numerous vehicles are coming in with these concerns right now which begs the question that it is not a one off situation but a failure of Honda Corporation.

2018 Honda Accord 1.5T EX trim and I had a head gasket completely blown at around 82,600 miles. I, alongside with many many other 1.5T Accord owners, am experiencing this head gasket issue for such a low milage vehicle and it is simply inacceptable and Honda seems to be entirely ignoring this widespread, recurring problem on this engine. Reaching out and file a report in hopes of getting this to Honda's attention so they can address this asap. It has been 7 years since this problem and nothing has changed, which is not okay.

2/24/2025 Safety Recall work performed at Honda Marin; change Fuel Pump per recall. 4/28/2025 I reported vehicle stalling/misfiring, decelerating on its own and all lights keep coming on as a result of Fuel Pump change. Marin Honda performed cleaning of battery cables; technician claims nothing is wrong with the car. [XXX] car stalled at intersection, I went back to Honda Marin and reported vehicle is still having the same previous issues and complained that this is dangerous to have the car automatically decelerated on its own. This time I requested only for a diagnostic from Honda Marin. They spoke to my mom, who was not authorized to approve any work on my car, stated no blown head gaskets but mis-firing on cylinder 3, fixed the issue, passed pressure test(s), no leaks; and car was up to factory specks costs $2812.77 charged to my mom. 6/03/2025 brought car back to Honda Marin, same issues; service dept. road tested for 4 miles and stated the car was working as normal. 6/11/2025 told Honda Marin that the car is stalling and misfiring again; car shut down while on freeway; Honda Marin claimed problem was a punctured hose, charged $10.34 car up to factory specks. 6/12/2025 Brought car back to Honda Marin; still misfiring, stalling and dash lights coming on. Car will not accelerate past 3000rpm.; car shut down while in far left land on the [XXX] going to Marin County. Honda Marin performed leaked down test failed cylinder #4; blown head gasket; verbal quote approximately $5500.00 to fix. In addition to engine failures I had battery issues as well. Per reddit threads others too are having very similar issues, once the fuel pump is replaced, unexpected additional costs and safety failures often occur. This is a Honda Manufacturing Defect, the original fuel pumps are defective, causing a direct impact on the performance of the engine, unexpected damages which is leading to major financial and safety costs to the consumer. 9. Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 12, 2025

July 10th Honda went into limp mode as I accelerated would not drive over 20. Check engine light flashed on then off. Have taken car in several times no codes can be read. Believe it’s cylinder issues or fuel possible head gasket. All vehicle lights has displayed haven’t been able to get reads once car is turned off. Too many issues with no repair fix.

  10. Vehicle speed control, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 11, 2025

I never was informed about the fuel pump recall , all the lights on my car came on , acceleration was slower , car was jerking , and when taking it to Honda they stated 2 of my cylinders has a misfire and water or coolant leaked and blew my head gasket , the car never ran hot and the guy asked did any light come on and I told him for some old reason every light on the dash was on and the car is vibrating while even in park reverse and when it's moving . I've read up on this and there are numerous of people with this same issue and this should mean something , Honda stated it would cost 6000 to fix when they should have already been warning people of the matter ahead of time . For some odd reason the car would just drive 10mph when I am driving jumping out in traffic having to pull over and restart the car . Guy at Honda even stated fuel pump could have been the issue and they have witness this with other cars like mine

  13. Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 30, 2025

I took vehicle in because of all the sensors were going off. Honda ran a systems check and said fuel injectors needed to be replaced. It is all over the internet that this is a known issue and a recall was not issued. I spent $1500 on the replacement. These should not need replacing on an 18 accord with 80,000 miles. The recall on the fuel pump has not been addressed because Honda has limited parts. How do I know this did not affect the fuel injectors

  14. Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 3, 2025

Apparently the coolant is leaking into chamber 2 and 3 and it’s burning it and I need to replace the head gasket. Spoke to and looked up a bunch of other people have had this same issue. It’s causing my car to stutter and it’s scary.

  15. Fuel/propulsion system, May 22, 2025

Hello, the fuel pump which is recalled on my vehicle failed and was replaced with an aftermarket pump so I could take it to the dealership. Once I took it the dealership refused to go ahead with the recall and basically told me it’s not their problem. They are required to get it done for customers but they refused to fix mine.

  16. Fuel/propulsion system, Back over prevention, Forward collision avoidance, May 15, 2025

UNKNOWN I received the notice that there was an active recall on my 2018 Honda about the 1.5 Fuel Pump. I have scheduled several appointments to fix this, only for Honda to cancel all appointments related to the recall, stating they didn't have the part. I was headed to work, and every light on the dashboard that could come up, came up. There were several warning lights from brakes, transmission, collision, engine, etc. I took the car to the dealership, and they discovered that the fuel injector was the culprit. I am outraged because they're denying there's a connection, and I believe otherwise.

  17. Fuel/propulsion system, May 12, 2025

Various 2018-2022 Honda Accord owners had fuel injector failures caused by the faulty factory fuel pump molding. The fuel pump has been recalled; however, not before the fuel injectors fail. My Accord recently got an array of warning lights pop up on the dash while driving on the highway. I read the code and it was a cylinder 3 misfire. A diagnosis has led to the discovery that the fuel injectors are failing, most likely because of the bad fuel pump molding affecting the pressure of the fuel lines. Not only could this have led to my car stalling on the highway, it led to a complete disabling of my safety features while driving. Honda should be held responsible for the fuel injectors failing caused directly by their fuel pump molding deviation.

My vehicle is stalling out. The engine failed. I was traveling and had to pull off the interstate and stop and restart vehicle. It was very dangerous as traffic was going at a high rate of speed. Yes the vehicle has been confirmed by a dealer. Yes all the warning lights are on in the vehicle.

  21. Power train, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Apr 28, 2025

This car had a manufacturer recall for the "fuel pump". I was advised by Honda to go get the car checked by the dealer to evaluate if the issues I was getting were related to the recall. I paid close to $400 to get the car diagnosed and about 3/4 months after that I was told that the part is available for the recall service. I got the repair scheduled at the dealership and got the part replaced. Ever since I got this fuel pump replaced, now the car is struggling to pickup. It looks like a miss fire but it doesn't show any errors on display. In this condition, this car is not safe to drive around as it is skipping the engine thrusts. I have looked at Honda website and other online resources and people are talking about these issues but HONDA hasn't said or done anything about it. It all started after I got the fuel filter replaced.

  22. Fuel/propulsion system, Apr 18, 2025

About a week ago my all my dash lights came on dash. Doing some research I found there was a safety recall on my vehicle that I did not know about. I scheduled an appointment with Honda to get it replaced, they informed me that the fuel injectors needed to replaced and were causing misfires. They claim this is not directly correlated to the recall but I believe that it is

  24. Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Forward collision avoidance, Apr 16, 2025

Warning lights come all across the dash stating to see the dealer. I have taken it to the dealership and the issue is the fuel injector that causes the warning lights to go off and on at random. I still have a warranty of my car and was told the warranty does not cover that part. This is happening to a lot of honda accords but there is no recall for it. There is a safety issue for driving because they stay on and then go off and come back on again. This is unfortunate and unacceptable from Honda as a whole. I bought the car in May 2024 and the warning lights came on a week later and have been ever since off and on.

  25. Fuel/propulsion system, Apr 15, 2025

My vehicle is experiencing engine hesitation and it's getting worse every day I drive my car. This is a known side effect of the Honda Safety Recall notice I originally received in February of 2024. I received initial notification of a safety recall for my Honda vehicle in February of 2024 and it stated the safety issues of a possible faulty fuel pump modular. The letter expressed that they have no available parts but were working on getting them. I then received a 2nd letter regarding the fuel pump in May of 2024 and that parts were limited so they were focusing on customers who were experiencing side effect/safety issues with their car. I then received a 3rd letter in November of 2024 stating parts were ready and I just needed to contact my local Honda dealership to have my fuel pump modular replaced free of charge. I have called my dealership on at least two different occasions and have also taken my car in to Honda since then for general maintenance (oil change) and I keep being told they do not have the parts. The last time I spoke with them, I keep getting told that they do not have the parts. I am also always told they will probably call me in a couple weeks when they have the part but I never received that phone call from them. I can never seem to get a straight answer from them and am always told another excuse as to why my car and my family's safety is not important enough for them. I've even been told some of those replacement fuel pumps are needed for their newer cars.
