The front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, which can cause the air bags to deploy unintentionally during a crash.

Air bags that deploy unintentionally during a crash increase the risk of injury.

Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 7, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are BOL, WO9, OOA, WOM, XOH, NOC, POD, BOE, UOF, POB, EOG, AOI, QO8, TOJ, DO7, and SOK. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 24V064. A manufacturing issue with the front seat belts may cause the seat belt buckle channel to interfere with the release button, preventing the seat belt buckle from latching.

An unlatched seat belt cannot properly restrain the seat occupant during a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

Dealers will replace the driver and front passenger seat belt buckle release buttons or the buckle assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 18, 2023. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Accord Sedan, Accord Hybrid, and 2019-2020 Insight vehicles. A software error may cause intermittent or continuous disruptions in communication between the Body Control Module (BCM) and other components. This may result in malfunctions of various systems such as the windshield wipers and defroster, rearview camera, exterior lights, audible warning of a stopped vehicle, and power window operation. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems" and number 111, "Rear Visibility" as well as FMVSS numbers 104, 108, 114, 118, and 305.

Representative owner complaints: service brakes

255 reports, newest first. Show all

  1. Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Feb 24, 2022

My Honda Accord has braked on its own for no reason while I was driving down the highway. This has happened approximately four times.

  2. Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Feb 24, 2022

While driving there was no vehicles in front of me, my car started flashing “BREAK, BREAK,” and then the car completely stopped. There was a semi behind me, fortunately he was able to get into a different lane to avoid hitting me.

  3. Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Feb 24, 2022

In 2019 I was in a parking lot driving at about 5 mph. A man left a store and stepped into the street over 20 ft in front of my car and the car suddenly slammed on the brakes and came to a complete jerking stop without me hitting the brakes or applying any pressure since he was so far away I didn’t need to fully brake. I reported this to the Honda dealership during my next service and was told it must’ve been a fluke occurrence or exaggeration. During multiple instances over the years I have felt the car brake on its own while I’m entering an intersection even though there is nothing in the way and no reason to activate the braking system.

  4. Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Feb 24, 2022

While driving a about 40 mph on a clear road, the car started braking automatically and almost stopped. I was worried I would be hit from behind.

  5. Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Feb 18, 2022

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision-Avoidance System erroneously activated causing the vehicle to abruptly stop. The failure occurred on several occasions. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000 plus multiple events. Phamton, needless automate breaking for no reason!

  6. Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Feb 12, 2022

Rear brakes were changed 3 times in a time lapse in less than 6 months my rear brakes are gone they are rubbing metal to metal this is my commuting car to and from work. The automatic braking sometimes activated on its own or when it does not detect the markers on the road or the vehicle will try to left has happened to me multiple times almost crashed to the wall in more than one occasion

  7. Service brakes, Jan 18, 2022

Rear brake pads wore out prematurely due to electric parking brake malfunction. Three different service writers at the Honda dealership acknowledged this as a known issue and stated they’ve seen it multiple times on this model. Honda refuses to acknowledge the issue and take responsibility. Front brakes show no signs of premature wear and are still in good “safe” condition. Mechanic at non-Honda service center agreed rear brakes wore out long before they should have and in a manner not related to normal wear and tear.

  8. Service brakes, Dec 26, 2021

Ive noticed my rear brake pads are wearing out faster than my front brake pads. In which this is a front wheel drive car and the engine is in the front

  9. Service brakes, Dec 13, 2021

My rear brakes were reported to have been worn out and needing replacement when I last had my oil changed 12/3/2021 at the Honda dealership. I had them resurfaced this summer when taking my vehicle in for the previous oil change and routine maintenance. After reviewing several online posts and videos, I discovered several other Honda Accord owners reporting that their back brakes are wearing out much earlier than anticipated. This makes me think there is an underlying issue and defect in the braking system.

  10. Service brakes, Dec 1, 2021

EBB- ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER U3003-16 BATTERY VOLTAGE CIRCUIT VOLTAGE BELOW THRESHOLD IT HAS A NEW BATTERY, IT SHOULDN’T BE HAVING THIS ISSUE. THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR MY ENTIRE FAMILY.

  11. Service brakes, Lane departure, Forward collision avoidance, Nov 23, 2021

Collision Braking Mitigation System experienced two errors (descriptions unknown). Received error message warning on display panel, but no description of errors. CMBS, LKAS, speed limit sign sensing, etc. all failed. Turning vehicle off and on several times did not restore the system. Vehicle drove fine, but all safety features were disabled.

  12. Service brakes, Jul 26, 2021

I have only 17,750 miles on my vehicle and my rear brakes are completely worn. They are pulsating and I am afraid to drive the car.

  13. Service brakes, Jul 14, 2021

I’ve had this vehicle about 4 months! About once or twice a month I’m getting a message that there’s a problem with my braking system! My brake light blinks on and off, and the message reads…electronic parking brake issue!

  14. Service brakes, May 22, 2021

Rear breaks went from being in great conditions to totally work out to the point it was metal on metal. Went to the Honda dealership and they said the roters were rusted and corroded which caused the break pads to disappear. They stated it’s a known issue with the 2018 Honda Accord but there is no recall at the time.

  15. Service brakes, May 18, 2021

My brakes are very sensitive. Every time you brake it brakes hard. When I brake at 50 mph the steering wheel and brakes vibrate. I never had a car with this problem and I have had Honda's my whole life and never had this problem. I don't know if its because of the new electronic braking system but it sucks. This will be my last time buying a Honda due to this horrible braking problem. Every time I notify Honda service they tell me that's how the braking system is. Well its HORRIBLE. Got me looking like I am break checking somebody and making me seem like I can't brake or drive good. Honda really needs to fix this problem.

  16. Service brakes, May 11, 2021

THE BRAKES GRAB HARD. THE PEDAL GOES DOWN A LITTLE AND THEN THE BRAKES SEEM TO LOCK UP. WE BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 2 MILES ON IT THE SAME DAY IT WAS DELIVERED TO THE DEALERSHIP. IMMEDIATELY IT WAS APPARENT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. THEY TOLD US TO DRIVE IT A WHILE AND IT WOULD GO AWAY. IT HAS NOT. 2 WEEKS LATER I TOLD THEM AGAIN. WE HAVE TOLD THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM 4 TIMES AND THEY SAY NO ONE ELSE HAS COMPLAINED WITH THAT PROBLEM. IT HAS ALMOST 35,000 MILES ON IT AND THEY SAY IT WILL COST ME TO FIX IT, ASSUMING THEY CAN FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. H E L P !!!!

  17. Power train, Electrical system, Service brakes, Apr 9, 2021

I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY REAR BRAKES FOR A LONG TIME. I HAVE CHANGED MY REAR BRAKES TWICE SINCE I HAD THE CAR. TODAY ALL MY WARNING LIGHTS IN THE DASHBOARD TURNED ON AND WON'T TURN OFF. I HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT'S GOING ON. ALSO THE REAR TAILLIGHTS HAD A BROKEN SEAL WHERE MOISTURE COLLECTS IN THE TAILLIGHTS. THE BRAKES IN THIS CAR WAS THE WORST I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. THE CAR VIBRATES WHILE BRAKING AND THERE IS A VIBRATION IN THE BRAKE PEDAL AS WELL DESPITE HAVING RECENTLY CHANGED THE BRAKES. THE WARNING LIGHTS ARE A NEW PROBLEM AND A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 62,000 MILES.

  18. Service brakes, Apr 1, 2021

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE BRAKES ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CONTINUED DRIVING TO HIS DESTINATION. THE CONTACT CALLED HONDA OF MILFORD (767 BRIDGEPORT AVE, MILFORD, CT 06460, (203) 877-2888) AND MADE THE DEALER AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000.

  19. Service brakes, Mar 13, 2021

THE REAR PASSENGER BRAKE PAD IS WORN TO NOTHING. ALL OTHER PADS ARE FINE. I HAVE 22,000 MILES ON MY HONDA. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS RUSTED BECAUSE I LIVE AT THE BEACH. IF THAT IS TRUE THEN WOULD THERE NOT BE PROBLEMS WITH ALL 4. I HEARD SCRAPING SOUNDS BEFORE. THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING HAS BEEN ON. WHILE DRIVING MY CAR, THE ELECTRONIC PANEL READ I NEEDED TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY AND CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS FINE.

  20. Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Mar 11, 2021

AUTOMATIC SENSOR BRAKING COMES ON WHILE DRIVING, THERE ARE NO OTHER CARS AROUND OR OBJECT. WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKES COME ON AND THE WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD, THERE ARE NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME OR TO THE SIDE. THE CAR JERKS AS THE BRAKES ARE AUTOMATICALLY APPLIED, WHILE MY FOOT IS ON THE GAS PEDAL. THEN THE BRAKE IS RELEASED, THE WHOLE EVENT TAKES SECONDS. IN FACT IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN THERE HAS BEEN NO CARS IN SIGHT. IT HAS HAPPENED MOSTLY ON LOCAL ROADS GOING 45-50 MILES, BUT HAS OCCURED ON A HIGHWAY GOING AROUND 65 MPH. PURCHASED CAR IN 2018, STARTING HAPPENING IN 2019 AND CONTINUES UNTILL TODAY. WHEN I TOLD HONDA SERVICE, THEY SAID MAYBE THE SENSOR FOR THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS DIRTY. I AM CONCERNED AN ACCIDENT WILL HAPPEN, IF THE BRAKES GO ON AND THERE IS NO CAR IN FRONT BUT A CAR IN BACK, ITS UNSAFE.

  21. Service brakes, Mar 7, 2021

THE REAR BRAKE ARE COMPLETELY WORN OUT AT 38K MILES AND THE FRONT PADS ARE FINE. DONT UNDERSTAND WHYBTHE REAR WOULD WEAR OUT FASTER THAN THE FRONT. THERE WAS SEVER DAMAGE DONE TO THE REAR ROTATOR A D HAD TO GET REPLACED.

  22. Service brakes, Mar 5, 2021

2018 HONDA ACCORD- PURCHASE CAR IN SEPT 2018, IN NOVEMBER 2019 INCHING FORWARD TO SEE CLEARLY TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, ONCOMING CAR TO MY RIGHT, STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AND NOTHING, NO BRAKES AND LOTS OF WARNINGS ON THE DASH. PANICKED BUT WAS ABLE TO STEER THE CAR OUT OF HARMS WAY AND PUSH IGNITION TO STOP. HAPPENED AGAIN IN DECEMBER 2019, SAME SCENARIO AS ABOVE. HONDA REPAIRED BRAKE BOOSTER. OCCURRED AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER 2020 AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, CHANGING LANES ABOUT TO EXIT FREEWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, HONDA REPLACED BRAKE BOOSTER. OCCURRED AGAIN FEBRUARY 2021 ON THE STREETS. CAR CURRENTLY AT HONDA. FLUID LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. HONDA ABOUT TO REPLACE BRAKE BOOSTER AND WHAT THEY CALL A COLLECTOR. NO CONFIDENCE IN THIS CAR. HONDA WILL NOT CONSIDER A BUY BACK.

  23. Service brakes, Back over prevention, Forward collision avoidance, Feb 16, 2021

I WAS COMING TO A STOP SIGN SIGNAL LEFT AND I WAS PRESSING THE BRAKE LIGHTLY TO COME TO COMPLETE STOP AND THE WAS A CAR TURN INTO MY STREET THE OPPOSITE LANE THOUGH AND HE TURNED MY CAR SLAM STOP UNEXPECTEDLY CAUSING MY PASSI G TO JERK AND I HARD STRAIN OUR NECKS! WHIP LASH OVER NOTHING SO DANGEROUS! ALSO ONE TIME ENTERING THE HIGHWAY I SLOW OR WAS COMING TO A STOP FOR NOTHING! SWNSOR IS OFF!

  24. Service brakes, Feb 15, 2021

REPLACED REAR BRAKE PADS 11-8-2019 AT 32,223 MILES. REPLACED REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS 2-3-2021 AT 56,679 MILES. THEY HAVE A PROBLEM AGAIN. THEY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2009 ACCORDS.

  25. Service brakes, Feb 9, 2021

WHEN I WENT TO THE HONDA DEALER IN 2019 TO CHANGE MY OIL, THEY HAVE SAID THAT MY REAR BRAKE PADS NEED TO BE REPLACED EVEN THOUGH I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. IT WAS VERY BIZARRE TO ME AS THE CAR IS FWD AND THE ENGINE IS IN THE FRONT, THUS MAKING MORE STRESS ON THE FRONT BRAKE PADS INSTEAD OF THE REAR BRAKE PADS. OTHER HONDA ACCORD 2018-2020 OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF THIS SAME ISSUE AND I HOPE IT CAN BE RESOLVED AS IT SEEMS THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS WEAR OFF TOO FAST. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME OF NOTICE.
