  2. Engine, Aug 24, 2026

I am reporting a suspected head gasket/engine defect involving my 2018 Honda Accord Sport. My vehicle experienced multiple engine-related problems before ultimately requiring head gasket replacement and cylinder head repair. On July 27, 2024, at approximately 161,480 miles, the turbocharger was replaced. In September 2025, at 207,539 miles, my vehicle was serviced at Joe Morgan Honda, an authorized Honda dealership. During that visit, the Honda technician documented that the cooling system fluid level was low and that no external leaks were found. The technician documented that they suspected the head gasket was causing internal coolant loss over time. I was instructed to monitor the vehicle and was provided an estimate of approximately $4,400 plus tax for head gasket replacement. I specifically asked the Honda service advisor whether the head gasket could be repaired at that time or whether anything could be done to prevent the suspected problem from progressing. I was told there was nothing that could be done at that point other than monitor the vehicle. Within weeks, multiple warning lights illuminated on my dashboard and the vehicle began experiencing significant drivability problems, including hesitation, misfiring, and loss of acceleration. The loss of acceleration was particularly concerning because the vehicle did not respond or accelerate normally while being driven. I took the vehicle to Integrity Automotive on September 25, 2025, at 208,583 miles. The engine was checked, and the ignition coils and spark plugs were replaced. Despite those repairs, the vehicle ultimately required major engine repairs on November 8, 2025, at 210,230 miles. The cylinder head gasket was replaced and the cylinder head was serviced/repaired. The fuel injectors, spark plugs, and serpentine belt were also replaced, and the cooling system and drivability/performance were checked. Only approximately 2,691 miles elapsed between the Honda dealership documenting the suspected i

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights were illuminated, and the vehicle went into LIMP Mode, and the vehicle failed to exceed 5 MPH with the accelerator pedal depressed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the turbo boost and head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

  4. Engine, Forward collision avoidance, Aug 23, 2026, crash

Issue 1: Faulty Collision Mitigation Braking System & Subsequent Crash Incident Details: In July of 2025, my vehicle’s automatic braking warning lights randomly activated and triggered an unprompted, emergency stop on [XXX]—despite having no vehicles ahead of me. This sudden malfunction directly caused a rear-end collision on the interstate. Documentation: A formal crash report was filed with the Georgia State Patrol. Ongoing Risk: The false automatic braking warnings continue to trigger randomly, creating an extreme safety hazard for myself and surrounding traffic. Issue 2: Premature Turbocharger Failure & Cracked Head Gasket Diagnostic Timeline: Immediately upon picking up the car from a body shop repair, every warning light on the dashboard illuminated erratically. After Ed Voyles Honda in Marietta claimed nothing was wrong, the body shop replaced a potentially loose battery cable. The issue persisted, and Shottenkirk Honda in Cartersville ultimately diagnosed a total turbocharger failure in March 2026. Out-of-Pocket Cost: Honda denied any goodwill coverage despite the widespread, documented failure of these 1.5L engines across 2018–2023 models. I paid $1,700 out of pocket to replace the turbocharger. Escalating Failures: Shortly after the turbo replacement, the head gasket cover cracked—another notorious, widely recognized defect inherent to this specific engine setup. At only seven years old, this vehicle has proven to be unreliable, dangerous, and financially burdensome. The known defects in the 1.5L powertrain warrant a widespread recall. Given my long-standing loyalty and the severe nature of these defects, I request a full reimbursement of the $1,700 turbocharger repair costs and an immediate investigation into the phantom braking issue. I expect a prompt reply outlining how Honda intends to resolve these safety issues. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  7. Engine, Aug 22, 2026

Turbo has gone out and it's several thousand dollars to get fixed and will eventually affect the overall lifespan and performance of the engine if not repaired in a timely enough fashion. There is no recall for this specific issues even though thousands of Honda Accord owners are dealing with the same failure/repair and there are no offers of goodwill assistance from the dealership or manufacturer. The dealership assured that engine failure is inevitable without a turbo replacement and they can't determine the extent of the damage that's already been done to the engine since the turbo showed signs of failure.

i have a 2018 honda accord. it used to have only wired carplay. i paid a honda dealer for the official advertised wireless carplay upgrade. over a year later suddenly the head unit doesn't work. it just shows "please insert usb drive containing valid software license file, and press ok button." many people online are reporting this issue. the honda dealer that did my original install refuses to fix this issue free of charge, and they are unable to assure me that they are aware of the issue and have a confirmed fix. i refuse to pay them to do a diagnostic just for them to tell me they can't fix it, or to give me a temporary fix that will break again later

Engine making noise when start, took to dealer, it was diagnose with head gasket gone. All services done from dealer since purchased and now dealer is saying gasket replacement.

  15. Other or unspecified, Forward collision avoidance, Aug 19, 2026

While driving my 2018 Honda Accord Sport 1.5T, multiple warning lights suddenly illuminated on the dashboard at the same time and several warning messages appeared. The vehicle displayed warnings for different systems, including a message stating, “Hill Start Assist Problem. Vehicle May Roll Upon Brake Release. See Your Dealer,” along with the check-engine light and several other warning indicators. I purchased this vehicle brand new in 2018, and since the day I purchased it, I have consistently had the vehicle serviced and maintained at an authorized Honda dealership. I have relied on Honda to perform the recommended maintenance and address any problems with the vehicle. When all of these warning lights and messages appeared, I took the vehicle to the Honda dealership. The dealership adjusted the valves and told me that everything was fine. Approximately one week later, I had to take the vehicle back because the problem was not resolved. At that time, I was told that the vehicle needed a head gasket. The vehicle had also previously required a turbo replacement. Because of the seriousness of the head-gasket diagnosis, I obtained a second opinion from another repair facility, and they also determined that the head gasket was the problem. I do not understand how a vehicle that I purchased new and have consistently maintained through Honda could experience these significant engine-related problems. I am especially concerned that numerous unrelated warning lights and safety-system messages appeared simultaneously before the head-gasket problem was diagnosed. I am submitting this complaint because I believe this issue should be investigated to determine whether other 2018 Honda Accord 1.5T vehicles are experiencing similar head-gasket, turbo, and multiple-warning-system problems and whether these failures may represent a defect that should be addressed by Honda or through a recall.

  16. Engine, Aug 18, 2026

The head gasket is leaking coolant into cylinder #2. The car has misfired and has not been operable. The problem has been confirmed and diagnosed through the dealer. there were no prior warning lights to the issue until the car completely became inoperable from one day to the next.

  17. Engine, Aug 18, 2026

The car suddenly stopped speeding up on the highway, and the check engine light began to flash. There were no warning signs before this occurred. I was driving with my kids when I had to think and move quickly off the highway because there were other cars behind us. The car would only roll because it wouldn’t speed up. Yesterday, on August 17, the car was towed to a Honda dealership, where they ran some tests. They found out that the car has a blown head gasket.

  18. Other or unspecified, Aug 18, 2026

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle's head gasket has been identified as needing replacement. The Honda dealership inspected the vehicle on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, and confirmed that a new head gasket is needed. The vehicle and the failed component should be available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The ongoing malfunction caused numerous warning lights and messages to appear on the dashboard over approximately the past two months. Because the vehicle was displaying multiple warnings and experiencing an apparent engine-related issue, I was concerned about the vehicle's reliability and safety while driving. An engine malfunction could potentially cause the vehicle to lose power or become inoperable unexpectedly, which could put me and others on the road at risk. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The problem was inspected and confirmed by a Honda dealership on August 12, 2026. I was informed that the vehicle needs a new head gasket. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? Yes. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Honda dealership. To my knowledge, it has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. For approximately two months prior to taking the vehicle to the dealership, multiple warning lights and messages began appearing on the dashboard. The warnings continued to appear and became increasingly concerning, which ultimately led me to take the vehicle to the Honda dealership on August 12, 2026, where I was informed that the head gasket needs to be replaced.

  19. Electrical system, Aug 17, 2026

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that after stopping the vehicle, the check engine, stabili-trak, steering, and the Forward Collision Avoidance warning lights were illuminated, with unknown messages displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, and a system reset was performed, and the contact was informed that the battery needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the battery was recently replaced. The contact retrieved the vehicle, and hours later the failure reoccurred. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 127,000.

  20. Engine, Aug 16, 2026

All warning lights came on whilst driving. Scheduled a diagnostic at the dealership. Dealership confirmed the head gasket had blown due to the design flaw of the coolant pathway between cylinder #2 and #3. This is a common problem with this engine. Vehicle is out of warranty. Now faced with a big repair bill.

  21. Electrical system, Forward collision avoidance, Lane departure, Aug 16, 2026

While driving, the vehicle suddenly jerks or “jumps,” followed immediately by a noticeable loss of power. Shortly after this occurs, the multi-information display shows a series of warnings that include: Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem – See Your Dealer Adaptive Cruise Control System Problem – See Your Dealer Road Departure Mitigation System Problem – See Your Dealer Auto High-Beam Problem – Manual Controls Available – See Your Dealer Brake System warning light A “Systems Initializing… Continue Driving” message also appears. I have photographic documentation of these dashboard messages. This sequence creates a significant safety concern. The sudden jerk and power loss can occur while the vehicle is in motion, and the subsequent disabling of the Honda Sensing systems (Collision Mitigation Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Road Departure Mitigation) leaves the vehicle without those critical driver-assistance features. Because this involves sudden power loss and the disabling of safety systems, I consider the issue urgent and ask that it be prioritized.

  22. Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 15, 2026

Unknown, all lights are showing on dash with "Emissions systems problems power may be reduced see dealer." After spark plug replacement about a month later raw gas smell, rough idling, and slight jerking continues.

  23. Engine, Forward collision avoidance, Aug 14, 2026

The head gasket is failing and causing the engine to overheat and misfire. Its a repeating issue I see online and have taken it to a certified Honda mechanic multiple times. The first diagnosis stated that the biggest issue was the fuel injections. Now this second diagnosis shows the head gasket. It poses a great danger especially in highways, as it causes the car to decelerate on its own and rattles as if it's losing power. It will overheat when it is idling. The check engine light turned on a week after purchasing the car from a local dealership, and the dashboard lights were wiped from the system prior to buying the car a year ago. Now I'm looking at over 7k in repairment costs while still financing a car I believed was reliable.

  24. Electrical system, Engine, Aug 14, 2026

2 weeks ago. All of my warnings and lights for my car came on. We undid my battery, charged it and did it again. The lights went away and about 3 days ago they came back on. Now my car is overheating and the system is reading wrong.

  25. Lane departure, Forward collision avoidance, Aug 14, 2026

The dashboard lights up”brake” and the car slams on the brakes unexpectedly on occasion- and sometimes for no known reason. This has happened countless times. yesterday it happened again while driving on the intersection at 70 mph . there were no vehicles in front of me and I was not changing lanes, but the car slammed on the brakes, making the car behind me almost rear-ended me & cars having to swerve around my vehicle. This is very unsafe and it needs to be addressed and corrected by Honda.
