Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Accord Sedan, Accord Hybrid, and 2019-2020 Insight vehicles. A software error may cause intermittent or continuous disruptions in communication between the Body Control Module (BCM) and other components. This may result in malfunctions of various systems such as the windshield wipers and defroster, rearview camera, exterior lights, audible warning of a stopped vehicle, and power window operation. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems" and number 111, "Rear Visibility" as well as FMVSS numbers 104, 108, 114, 118, and 305.

  3. Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 15, 2024

Called for the recall (dated Feb 2024) and was told that Honda is not releasing replacement parts until some time in the fall - it's only mid July now. The failure of the part could cause the car to stall out suddenly while driving, increasing risk of a crash or injury (as stated in the recall notice). Online states they are not addressing the recall unless the vehicle has an issue. This, is NOT acceptable. If it stalls out while my daughter is driving it and anything happens to her, Honda had better be prepared for a huge lawsuit and some very bad press since they are knowingly putting anyone driving a vehicle under recall at risk for death, as is this agency that is allowing it to ignore a known recall. I will inform our insurance company of the issue as well.

  4. Forward collision avoidance, Jul 13, 2024

My car will randomly brake. This has happened multiple times while driving on the interstate. I will be driving 76 mph and the emergency braking system will brake when there is nothing in front of me. It’s scary going from 75mph to slamming on the brakes. Happened probably 10 times since I bought the car 2 years ago. Several times almost caused the people in back of me to hit me

COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM DEFECT On May 7, 2024, AAA tow-truck driver installed compact spare tire on right rear tire due to damaged tire. Drove 10 miles to tire store & orange-colored "Low Tire Pressures" dash board indicator light appeared. 4 new tires were installed. Drove 4 miles and parked car in restaurant parking lot. 1 hour later tried to start engine. Car immediately jumped in the air, all the orange-colored dashboard warning lights flashed in rapid non-stop cycle, downward slash (/) symbol appeared on "D" dashboard symbol, car had very small amount of engine power. THE CAR SEIZED AND WAS INOPERABLE. Called AAA tow truck & driver said he never saw a car so strangely disabled. Towed car to tire store. Upon confused inspection, manager said "It is your COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM (CMBS). We think we reset system. Your car is under warranty. Return car to Honda dealer." June 15 2024, LTP dashboard indicator appeared despite no visible tire problem. Reset tire pressure indicator using dash screen interface. June 19, LTP indicator reappeared and I reset tire pressure. June 24, drove car to Honda dealer & explained CMBS seizure and inoperable condition, reoccurring tire pressure indicator & rough ride. Provided written time line of CMBS problem. Upon diagnostics was informed no problem. No charged for diagnosis. June 28, LTP indicator appeared. Drove car to Honda dealer and provided another written time line of CMBS & LTP indicator problems. Mechanic test drove, found a wood sliver in left rear tire, patched tire. Charged $149, service coordinator would not provide receipt & explanation of service, due to cyber attack, but required me to sign form promising payment and he would not provide copy. July 5, flat left rear tire. AAA installed compact spare & I drove to Honda dealer, provided another time line CMBS, mechanic found screw in tire, patched tire. Charged $39.95. I have attempted numerous times to take my car to the dealership and charged for services fees as well only to be told the part is not available however they can get the part if needed. My engines lights and collision mitigation systems continue to light up and inoperative. This concerns me being that it’s been almost a year driving my car with this re call and nothing has been done for the where where it clearly states possible engine failure leading to accidents.

My vehicle head engine gasket blow while driving on the highway. I was on the far left side of the highway near brick side wall and had to find a way to get to the right shoulder of the highway while in coming car passed by. I’m just upset cause I kept telling Honda dealership something was wrong with my engine every time I went in for a oil change for the past 2 years and they ignored my concern and told me nothing was wrong. I just can’t believe Honda a trusted automotive company would have this type of issue without having a recall available for their customers. And I read into the issue and I’m not the only person with this issue. That’s not right at all. They need to do better

  11. Fuel system, Gasoline, Jul 3, 2024

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle hesitated while starting. The contact stated that the failure recurred increasingly, and the vehicle shuddered significantly while starting. The check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. The dealer declined to perform the recall repair. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The contact declined to pay for the repair and advised the dealer to perform the recall repair prior to other repairs because the vehicle was experiencing the symptoms of the recall. Additionally, the contact stated that the recall notification advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for recall repair if the vehicle was experiencing the symptoms of the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

  12. Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 3, 2024

While entering onto the highway the vehicle surged and stalled 3 times during acceleration. Honda has been contacted about the issue but refuses to address the recall. Honda case number 14795146.

  13. Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 2, 2024

After a few weeks of owning my 2018 Honda accord-Sport driving along the road my car hesitated and acted as if it didn't want to continue driving. I had to pull over to the side of the road to turn the car completely off and back on for the car to regain energy (power) to drive. Every light on the dash is on from the check engine light, brake system, check emission system, road assistance, tire system and do not turn off. I had the fuel injectors cleaned because that was the code that came back for the issue and the car is storing the same code. It was a temporary fix because the lights have been on and off for a whole year now. I cannot get the issue fix because the parts have been on and off back order for the whole year I have owned this car. My car is running harder and hesitating a lot more and I do not get the same average milage on gas anymore. I normally fill up once a week and do the same amount of driving, but my gas is no longer lasting me the week it used to. The fuel injectors seem to be a common issue with these cars especially with the parts on back order for this long intensive time period. I am scared my car will not be drivable in the near future on the symptoms it is now displaying. My car is available at any time for an inspection. I'm very surprised this issue is not a recall on the hazard it is driving, and the car could hesitate or not proceed to go when in traffic which could lead to terrible safety hazards. Every light is on that could possibly be wrong on the dash. I have taken this vehicle to Honda dealerships and 3rd party mechanic shops.

  14. Visibility/wiper, Jul 1, 2024

I was driving on [XXX] when my sunroof glass exploded. I was not around any other cars when this incident happened. Thankfully I had my sunroof visor closed. Had it not been for that; glass would have poured all over me and possibly caused me to have a bad wreck or worse; lose my life. I filed a claim that same day with my insurance company, only to get the run around and be told that they possibly won’t cover it due to they deeming it a mechanical failure. I was not operating the sunroof at all at the time of the incident so there was no mechanical failure. I had full insurance coverage at the time of the incident. I have sent in pictures and a full description to my insurance adjuster. The car itself has not been inspected by anyone other than myself. I would like this matter resolved immediately. 15. Forward collision avoidance, Jun 27, 2024

2018 Honda Accord Twice last week my car suddenly braked with no obstruction in front of the vehicle. I was on a straight section of the roadway. Thankfully no one was directly behiind me. It appears there have been other incidences reported.

  16. Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 25, 2024

The car began having problems approximately 6 months ago. The problems would happen for a week and then stop occurring. The car slows completely down to 5 mph while on the highway, causing traffic to swerve to miss causing an accident. We have received a few letters stating that the fuel pump recall was active for our vehicle with a complete description of what was going on with our car. We got a letter stating that minimal fuel pumps are available, so contact your Honda dealership ONLY if your car is currently showing signs. We waited until it started showing signs again. This week it started again. We called and set up an appointment for July 3, 2024, but today the car lost power every time it was driven with near accidents occurring many times. The car was taken to the Columbia MO Honda dealership. They tried to charge $69 to look at the car after we told them about the recall. We refused to pay, they looked at the car and said it was several different things other than the recall, acting like they were unsure of the reason for the inoperable car. Nothing was fixed. We left the dealership, and the car will not go over 5 mph so it is parked 40 miles from our home. This car is the office of the owner, and this is very disheartening. We called the Honda Automobile Service Center and after hearing there was nothing they could do. I became upset telling them, “I guess I will need to get a lawyer or when the car causes a collision and death, I will be suing Honda.” She then offered to set up a case, but I would be added to a workload and who knows when we will get a call. She also said that when our July 3 appointment comes, they will still need to diagnose the car and order the part. We need a safe vehicle NOW. All warning lights come on when this occurs.

  17. Fuel system, Gasoline, Jun 25, 2024

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while the vehicle was started, there was a loud rattling sound coming from the vehicle. Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

  18. Fuel/propulsion system, Forward collision avoidance, Jun 22, 2024

my car has been severely malfunctioning due to the fuel pump recall. I have had to avoid several accidents due to the loss of power at high speeds, stalling, and sputtering. My car started experiencing these issues last December and I was told by Honda to take it in to be diagnosed (which I did), and then I was told there was no fix or parts at that time because it was due to a faulty fuel pump. I parked the car and I had to find rides to work until I was unable to, so I had to start back driving the vehicle. The issue became severe again about a week ago. My car completely stalled and would not accelerate at all at a traffic light. I proceeded to turn on my hazards and call for assistance while turning the car off. Eventually the car was able to be moved after about 20 mins of being powered off. Luckily, I wasn't far from my home, I turned on the hazards and slowly made it home and parked the car. I'm currently afraid to continue to drive the vehicle because of safety concerns for myself as well as other drivers on the road. My car stalls, shuts off, will not start back up, and sputters, and all of the lights on the dash are on. The first incident I was almost hit by another driver because of the loss of power. I have reached how to Honda several of times and had the car diagnosed and done everything I was asked to do but I am still being given the "run around" and they do not seem to be making this a priority matter. This is my only car, and it has been a major inconvenience for me as well as been very unsafe for me to operate my vehicle and I still do not feel they have any plans to resolve this matter anytime soon.

  19. Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 20, 2024

Head gasket and fuel injector. Causing stalling of the vehicle. Over heating. Have almost been hit with my kids in the car from stalling. Honda has confirmed this and the car has only 125k miles. This is COMMON in this car and should be recalled before someone is killed. In this economy who can afford 5500 dollars on a car that isn’t old to fix? I have driven all my past vehicles into 200k miles and never had these issues and have taken much better care of this car.

  20. Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 20, 2024

Fuel Injectors had to be replaced, and the vehicle only 54,084 miles. Vehicles with the same engine, made by Honda, are being recalled. Furthermore, I have seen recalls for the 2018-2020 Honda Accord being recalled, but my VIN does not acknowledge this recall. I was at a stoplight, and turning right on when the car lost power and went into limp mode. Fortunately, there was no one coming (On a fairly busy street) when I made the turn. I pulled to the side, and turned the car off, and started it again. I was driving less than a mile to my next workplace when this incident happened. After my work shift was done I turned on the car and lit up like a Christmas tree (The mechanics words when he saw the dashboard). I held my breath to get the car to the dealership (Around 10 miles away). The following "lit up" on the car: 1. Electric Power Steering System Problem. Steering Assist Reduced. See your dealer. 2. Adaptive Cruise Control System Problem. See your dealer. 3. Road Departure Mitigation System Problem. See your dealer. 4. Emission System Problem. Avoid Heavy Acceleration and high speed. See your dealer. 5. Tire Pressure Low 6. Brake System Problem. Brake Performance may be reduced. See your dealer. 7. Brake Hold System Problem. Apply Brake when stopped. See your dealer. 8. Vehicle Stability Assist System Problem. Reduced traction and handling. See your dealer. 9. Hill start assist problem. Vehicle may roll upon brake release. See your dealer. 10. Collision Mitigation braking system problem. See your dealer.

The contact stated that the failures had become more persistent. The dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that parts were not expected to be available until November 2024. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 77,100. Parts distribution disconnect.

  24. Steering, Other or unspecified, Jun 19, 2024

A loud clicking/knocking noise that sounds dangerous while steering the vehicle at low speed; such as turning into a parking spot or making a u-turn. The noise occurs throughout the day but is not constant. My vehicle has been inspected several times and Honda claims to not hear this loud noise. As soon as I drive away I hear it and all of my passengers hear it. This noise started at the beginning of 2023.

  25. Fuel system, Gasoline, Jun 17, 2024

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle hesitated while accelerating. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the contact was informed that a diagnostic test was needed to confirm that the failure was related with NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline).
