THE SUN VISORS IN MY 2008 HONDA CIVIC HAVE BROKEN AND ARE UNABLE TO BE USED. IT CRACKED/SPLIT APART AT THE ARM. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM IN THE CIVIC SINCE 2006. I PLAN TO VISIT THE DEALERSHIP FOR A FIX BUT HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT IF THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, IT WILL BE FIXED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. IF THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM SINCE 2006, SEEMS THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS. *TR

DRIVING A 2008 HONDA CIVIC LX ON THE FREEWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE DRIVER SUN VISOR SWINGS DOWN PARTIALLY BLOCKING MY VIEW AND SCARING ME INTO A SWERVE. THE SUNVISOR BROKE UNEXPECTEDLY AND WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE. HONDA DEALER INDICATES THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR DRIVER SUN VISORS AT THIS TIME SO I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *KB

  8. Visibility, Jul 5, 2011

2008 HONDA CIVIC, DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR SPLIT OPEN AND DROPS DOWN INTO MY FIELD OF VISION. VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN RETRACTED POSITION. I HAVE DONE SOME SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET AND THIS IS A WIDELY RECURRING PROBLEM WITH MY CAR MODEL. *KB

2008 HONDA CIVIC COUPE SUN VISOR DRIVER SIDE JUST SPLIT AND DROPPED DOWN BLOCKING THE VIEW JUST LIKE THAT WHILE DRIVING. HAVE TO USE THE HAND TO HOLD UP THE VISOR. *TR

  10. Visibility, Jun 29, 2011

2008 SUN VISOR ON DRIVER SIDE FAILED SUMMER 2009. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITH THIS ISSUE SINCE THEN ALTHOUGH IT IS VERY HARD TO DRIVE INTO THE SUN DUE TO GLARE AND I HAVE DESPERATELY NEEDED IT. TODAY, 06-29-2011 THE PASSENGER SUN VISOR HAS NOW FAILED. SO I WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL AND THERE IS NONE. THIS IS VERY COMMON WITH THE HONDA CIVIC APPARENTLY AND THIS NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED AS THE SUN IS AWFUL DOWN HERE ALONG WITH ANY ROAD GLARE DUE TO PRECIPITATION. EVEN THE WARRANTY REPLACEMENTS ARE BREAKING AFTER THEY HEAT UP. *TR

  11. Visibility, Jun 29, 2011

DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR SPLIT OPEN AND WILL NOT GO UP MAKING IT HARD TO SEE STOP LIGHTS AND THE ROAD. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT WILL BE AROUND $100 TO HAVE THIS FIXED EVEN THOUGH IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE HONDAS. *TR

  12. Visibility, Jun 23, 2011

I HAVE A 2008 HONDA CIVIC AND THE DRIVER'S VISOR JUST DECIDED TO COME APART. IT IS STILL ATTACHED, BUT IT WILL NOT STAY UP IN IT'S PROPER POSITION, INSTEAD, IT FALLS IN FRONT OF MY FACE CAUSING ME TO BE DISTRACTED. I AM PAYING FOR SCHOOL OUT OF MY POCKET AND CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE IT JUST YET. I HAVE TO LEAVE IT DOWN AT ALL TIMES, AND IT CANNOT BE PUSHED BACK, I HAVE TO LEAVE IT STRAIGHT DOWN IN MY FACE AND BEND DOWN TO SEE STREET LIGHTS AND OTHER THINGS. IT JUST DID THIS ONE DAY, AND I NEVER EVEN USE MY VISOR. I ALSO ONLY HAVE ABOUT 40K MILES ON MY CAR. *TR

  13. Visibility, Jun 21, 2011

BOTH VISORS FAILED COMPLETELY WITHIN 24 HOURS OF EACH OTHER. WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR FELL WITHOUT MY TOUCHING IT AND I COULD NOT GET IT TO STAY UP. IT BLOCKED MY VISIBILITY SO I HAD TO HOLD IT UP SO I COULD SEE CLEARLY TO DRIVE. UPON INSPECTION I SAW THAT THE VISOR HAD SPLIT AT THE HINGE, BASICALLY LOOKS AS IF IT HAD EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE. WHEN I GOT INTO MY CAR THIS MORNING, THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS IN THE SAME CONDITION. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN, IF YOU ARE DRIVING THE VISORS OBSTRUCT VISIBILITY. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DRIVE WITH TWO VISORS BLOCKING MY VISION? I CAN'T GET THEM TO STAY UP. THERE IS NO OPTION FOR VISOR UNDER FAILED COMPONENT 1 AND 2 BELOW SO I SELECTED VISIBILITY/WIPER.

  14. Visibility, Jun 19, 2011

WENT INTO CHURCH ONE MORNING AND WHEN WE GOT BACK INTO THE CAR, THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR WAS BROKEN AND IS HANGING DOWN. THIS IS A CONCERN AS THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR SUDDENLY BREAKING WHICH COULD POSE A HAZARD WHEN DRIVING AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND CORRECTED. I AM UPSET THAT I WILL BE CHARGED FOR SOMETHING THAT IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE PROBLEM WITH THE SUN VISOR AND COULD POSE A SERIOUS HAZARD FOR DRIVERS. *TR

  15. Visibility, Jun 19, 2011

2008 HONDA CIVIC SEDAN 65000 MILES. DRIVER SIDE SUNVISOR IMPLODED. WILL NOT STAY UP AGAINST THE ROOF ANYMORE. THE SUNVISOR IS VISIBLY SPLIT NEAR THE MOUNT TO THE ROOF. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME AND WILL REQUIRE A NEW SUNVISOR. *TR

  16. Visibility, Jun 15, 2011

DRIVER SIDE VISOR HINGE BROKE AND VISOR SWUNG DOWN AND WILL NOT STAY UP. I DIDN'T EVEN PULL IT DOWN. IT FELL WHEN I WAS GOING OVER A SPEED BUMP AT A LOW SPEED! THE VISOR NOW BLOCKS MY VIEW WHEN DRIVING. *TR

  17. Visibility, Jun 11, 2011

FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE BUYING THIS CAR NEW THE DRIVER-SIDE VISOR HAS SPLIT IN HALF. THE SEPARATION OCCURRED AT THE SEAM WHERE TWO PLASTIC PARTS ARE JOINED. THE VISOR WILL NO LONGER SNAP INTO ITS PROPER POSITION AND HANGS DOWN, OBSTRUCTING VISIBILITY AND CREATING A DRIVING HAZARD. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES. IT HAS BROKEN AGAIN AT 50,000 MILES. THIS APPARENTLY IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL.

  18. Visibility, Jun 7, 2011

THE VISOR ON MY 2008 HONDA CIVIC WILL NOT STAY UP. IT LOOKS LIKE A DEFECT ON THE LEFT-HAND HINGE. THE HINGE IS SPLIT OPEN AND MAKES THE SUN VISOR DROP. AFTER LOOKING ON THE INTERNET, IT SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT SINCE A LOT OF OTHER HONDA OWNERS SEEM TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SINCE THE VISOR CONTINUALLY FALLING BLOCKS MY VISION THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. IF I SWING IT TO THE LEFT, IT BLOCKS THE VIEW FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE WINDOW. *TR

  19. Visibility, Jun 7, 2011

    1) HOT DAYS 2) SUN VISORS FALL DOWN AND BLOCK VISION OF ROAD. 3) DRIVER'S SIDE WAS REPLACED BY DEALER OUT OF WARRANTY. I WAS CHARGED $30+ FOR THE PART BECAUSE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. PASSENGER SIDE HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. *TR

  20. Visibility, Jun 5, 2011

BOTH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE VISORS SPLIT OPEN ALMOST SIMULTANEOUSLY. TODAY (6/5/2011) WAS FAIRLY HOT (IN SAN ANTONIO TX), WHILE DRIVING, I PULLED THE VISOR DOWN DUE TO THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE SUN AND THE BRIGHT REFLECTION OF THE SUN FROM ANOTHER CAR'S WINDOWS. MY DAUGHTER DID THE SAME THING ALSO. ALMOST AT THE SAME TIME, WHEN ADJUSTING THE VISORS BACK UP, THERE WAS THE SOUND OF A "POP" AND THE VISORS WOULD NOT STAY UP. THIS BECAME A SAFETY PROBLEM AS IT WOULD DANGLE IN THE FIELD OF VISION ALL THE TIME. THE PLASTIC APPEARS TO HAVE SPLIT DOWN THE CENTER JOINT ALONG THE LENGTH OF THE VISOR

  21. Visibility, Jun 3, 2011

THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR IS DEFECTIVE AND ONE DAY JUST SWUNG DOWN, PARTIALLY BLOCKING MY VISION. THE PLASTIC PARTS SPLIT OPEN AND THE ROD IS PARTIALLY EXPOSED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE IT WILL NOT STAY UP IN ITS CLOSED POSITION -- UNTIL I GET IT FIXED, THE VISOR IS EITHER DOWN IN FRONT OF MY FACE, OR IF I SWING IT OUT OF THE WAY, DOWN, BLOCKING MY LEFT VISION. THERE IS BASICALLY A SUN VISOR IN MY FACE ALL THE TIME WHILE DRIVING, EVEN IF IT IS NIGHT - THE MOST DANGEROUS TIME. I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY SWING IT OUT OF MY FACE, OR OUT OF THE WAY - EVEN JUST TO GET IN OR OUT OF THE CAR. *TR

I OWN A 2008 HONDA CIVIC WITH 42K MILES AND LIVE IN LAS VEGAS, NV. RECENTLY, MY PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR SPLIT AT THE SEAM . THIS EFFECTIVELY MAKES THE VISOR ALWAYS STUCK IN THE DOWN POSITION. I WOULD CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY HAZARD, AS IT BLOCKS MY VIEW AT NIGHT SINCE I AM UNABLE TO KEEP IT IN THE UPWARD POSITION. *TR

  24. Visibility, May 1, 2011

THE SUN VISOR IN MY 2008 HONDA CIVIC HAS FALLEN APART. I AM THE ONLY DRIVER OF THE CAR AND UNDER NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR IT WOULD NOT STAY UP OUT OF MY WAY. AFTER A MONTH LIKE THAT IT JUST FELL OFF COMPLETELY. THIS OCCURRED AROUND 32,000 MILES. AFTER INVESTIGATING ONLINE IT SEEMS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM THAT WILL COST MORE THAN $100 TO FIX. I HAVE SEEING BECAUSE OF THE GLARE OF THE SUN. *TR

  25. Visibility, Apr 29, 2011

MY SUN VISOR CRACKED AT THE HINGE OVER A YEAR AGO AND SINCE THAT TIME IT WOULD REPEATEDLY FALL IN MY FACE BLOCKING MY LINE OF SIGHT. MANY TIMES IT EVEN HIT ME IN THE HEAD. HONDA WOULDN'T PAY TO REPLACE OR FIX IT. I FINALLY REMOVED IT SINCE IT OBSTRUCTED MY VIEW OF THE ROAD SO NOW I HAVE THE SUN IN MY EYES. I AM NOT APT TO BUY THE SAME PART AGAIN AS I'VE SEEN HUNDREDS OF POSTINGS ONLINE ABOUT HONDA CIVIC OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL OF THIS VISOR AND HONDA NEEDS TO REPLACE THESE PARTS IN ALL CIVICS WITH FUNCTIONABLE PARTS. *TR
