Steering, electric power assist systemSep 27, 2018
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Honda Civic and CR-V vehicles. The magnet that controls the torque sensor output signal for the electronic power steering system may not be properly secured, allowing the magnet to become dislodged. During a full lock turn, the dislodged magnet may cause steering assist to be applied in the opposite direction.
The unintended steering input reduces vehicle maneuverability and increases the risk of a crash.
Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gearbox assembly, free of charge. The recall began November 9, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are C2N, P2O.

Steering, May 16, 2026
When turning on gradual curves at highway speeds the steering sticks then suddenly releases resulting in the need to correct the steering in the opposite direction rapidly. This could cause the driver to over-correct the steering leading to a potential accident. From what I understand, Honda is recommending a full steering rack replacement which is estimated between $3k-$5k+. Serious issue.

After the low-pressure fuel pump recall repair was performed on my 2018 Honda CR-V at Doggett Honda Med Center on March 6, 2026, the vehicle began experiencing a serious and repeated loss-of-power condition. The vehicle suddenly loses power without warning. This happens with no clear pattern, at highway speeds and also at low speeds. The engine does not shut off, but the vehicle loses the ability to accelerate normally. In some situations, it does not have enough power to safely reach the shoulder, leaving me exposed in traffic. This has now happened multiple times and has become more frequent. I have already narrowly avoided at least three serious rear-end collisions while trying to move the vehicle out of traffic. Yesterday, the vehicle lost power again and a police unit had to escort me so I could safely move the vehicle to the side. When I turn the vehicle off and restart it, it temporarily returns to normal, but the problem keeps coming back. This makes the vehicle unsafe and unreliable for normal use. The vehicle is my work vehicle, and I depend on it for transportation. I am now unable to work normally or travel safely because I do not know when the vehicle will suddenly lose power again. This condition places my life and the lives of my passengers at risk. I contacted both the dealership and American Honda Corporate. However, my safety concern has been minimized, and I was told that I would have to pay for diagnosis, even though this problem began after Honda performed recall work on the fuel system. I am reporting this because this is a serious safety issue. A vehicle that suddenly loses power in traffic, without warning, creates a real risk of collision, injury, or death. Honda should properly investigate whether the recall repair, fuel pump system, connectors, wiring, or related fuel delivery components caused or contributed to this dangerous condition.
Electrical system, May 12, 2026
My body control module (BCM) seems to have failed on my 2018 Honda CRV, my first indication was my alarm going off and me being unable to enter my vehicle with my key fob. Once I manually unlocked the car with the embedded key inside the key fob, I was unable to turn off my instrument cluster or lights by hitting the start switch of the car. I then turned on the car and was unable to turn off the car. My instrument cluster reported a key fob error. I replaced my batteries in both my key fobs, and that did not fix the problem. The only way I was able to turn off my vehicle was by disconnecting the battery and removing a relay to force it to turn off. Apparently, this is a known issue, and according to many online forums, there are many people experiencing this exact issue yet there has not been a recall to address this so the cost has been placed on the consumer. My car is currently at the dealership pending a $1000 plus repair where I believe this repair should be covered by Honda in a safety recall.

My 2018 Honda CR-V LX (approx. 40,920 miles) has an electric power steering (EPS) rack that sticks and catches at highway speeds, typically above 35 mph. The steering wheel requires extra force to turn, then suddenly releases, creating a snap/lurch effect. This behavior poses a significant overcorrection risk during highway lane changes and gradual curves. There were no warning lights or messages prior to or during the problem. The issue presented gradually and has been consistent above the noted speed threshold. A Honda dealership diagnosed the vehicle and confirmed the fault. Their process included a test drive to reproduce the sticking, reproduction while stationary, and further confirmation with the vehicle lifted — turning the steering wheel by hand with the wheels off the ground. In that condition, the technician heard and identified clicking and popping from inside the rack, isolating the fault to the EPS rack assembly itself. The dealer's written recommendation is replacement of the EPS rack at a cost of $3,917.31 plus tax. The component is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance representatives, or the manufacturer beyond the dealership visit described above. I am aware that NHTSA has previously investigated EPS gearbox faults on related Honda platforms involving worm gear/worm wheel defects, and that TSB 23-037 was issued for 2022–23 Civics describing an identical symptom. I believe my 2018 CR-V is affected by the same underlying defect. No repair has been performed at this time.

Forward collision avoidance, May 6, 2026
I was driving down the road with no cars around me at all going 40 mph when my car started braking saying "Brake" and automatically braked to almost a full stop int he middle of the busy road. If there was a car behind me we most definitely would have been rear ended at a very fast pace. We could've been seriously injured and I have little children in the car and a baby. There wasn't rain or fog or anything out of the ordinary. We are taking it to the dealer later this week. No warning light on before the incident.
Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Forward collision avoidance, May 4, 2026
A known common issues that Honda are not addressing: car going limp randomly, oil dilution, head gasket failure causing fuel injector issues, dashboard lighting up which causes the safety features to also cease from operating. I have multiple times now with my 4 year old in the car been in traffic and my car has just stopped going unprovoked. This limp mode issue a huge safety issue and has almost caused me to wreck multiple times. This started around 70k miles.

Steering sticks much like reports I read. I took to honda dealer and was quoted 5k to replace Steering rack. It is drivable just annoying so I put up with it. I was alerted to the prior recall s and description sounds exactly like my problem.
Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, May 2, 2026
Failed Head Gasket in the engin affected fuel injectors and spark plugs to fail or not perform normally and started misfiring in the engin. My 24 year old son drives this car and the problem happened at night when he was driving home at night on 3/4/2026 flashing all waring signs on the screen. The car's speed was abruptly reduced to very low and he was not able to drive the car . I put the car to repair shop and replaced the fuel injecton kit and spark plugs and paid $1650 for that and the problem happed again with same kind of signs and drop the car to dealership for detailed diagnostic analysis and they came with the conclusion that the engin has a failed head gasket which causes the engin coolent to enter into cumbustion chamber and mix with the oil/gas affecting fuel injectors and spark plugs. Upon extensive search on internet and social media , it has been found that there are hundreds of victims who own the same year vehicle & model ( or same engine types ) and faced same issues and paid too much money to repair even though the Honda is aware of the issue and not taking care of it. Honda is playing with american people's life when they know the issue very well and haven't done anything yet to recall the vehicles to resolve this issue . This need to be investigated thoroughly to save life of innocent people.

Steering, Apr 30, 2026
Sticky Steering...steering get's slightly stuck then it takes a little more effort to turn the wheel causing the wheel to turn too much sometimes to get it back on course...same problem that has been recalled on other models but for some reason not a recall on my 2018 with only 67000 miles
Electrical system, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Apr 30, 2026
The fuel injection system failed, specifically causing a cylinder 1 misfire (DTC P0301). The component is currently installed in the vehicle and available for inspection. The vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power and violent shaking while driving in traffic, creating a high risk of a rear-end collision or being stranded in a dangerous intersection. Multiple safety systems (VSA, Braking Assist, Power Steering) were disabled simultaneously. The problem was officially confirmed and diagnosed by Saccucci Honda [XXX] ) on Invoice #XXX. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer (Saccucci Honda), who confirmed the failure is internal to the fuel injectors. There were NO warning symptoms prior to the failure. All warning lamps and messages appeared suddenly on 04/20/2026 exactly 3 days after the official Honda Fuel Pump Safety Recall was performed at a different dealership of Honda . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

"Sticky or notchy" feeling in steering wheel. as described in Honda service bulletin 23-037 No person was at risk. Problem was able to be reproduced by the dealer. No vehicle warning lamps were illuminated. Dealer performed the actions of the recall of the newer vehicles, to this vehicle. The repairs fixed the issue.

I was driving into the city and crossing an intersection with train tracks. There was no obstacle and the car warned me by flashing the sign to brake, beeped, and then it automatically slammed on the brake and stopped my car in the middle of the intersection on the tracks. I was goin probably 40 mph. It was terrifying. Thankfully no one else was around me. All of my items in the car flew off the seat and hit the ground. Will be calling Honda about taking it in to repair shop.

Hello. We purchased this 2018 Honda CR-V new in 2018 from the local Honda dealer, Honda of Lake Jackson, TX. In the Spring of 2025 the A/C stopped working. We took it to a local shop and they had to replaced the following: Blower motor replaced, blower motor replaced, A/C evaporator replaced, A/C expansion/orifice valve replaced, Heater core replaced. This was around a $3,000 repair. A month or so later in May of 2025 we took the car to the Honda dealer because of steering instability issues. We were advised that the entire Steering Column would need to replaced due to known safety issues (drive shaft can fail completely at highway speeds). The following was repaired at this time: --Rack and pinion replaced, steering gear replaced, valve cover gasket replaced Vehicle was at 61,984 miles at this time. This was a $5,000+ repair. It cost so much that we actually had to take out financing to pay it, which in essence essentially renewed our car payment (car was already paid off at this time). Now for the past 8 months or so we have had a "juddering" issue where you can feel the transmission CTV system jump and jerk as you accelerate to highway speeds. This issue also puts the entire transmission at risk of failure. The Honda dealer here checked the vehicle out and suggested we do a transmission fluid swap. This cost $189 for the "diagnostic fee" and $179 for the swap. So another nearly $400. They did the swap and said that it did not fix the issue and now we need to pay $2800 to have the "Torque convertor" replaced. This is $10,000 plus dollars in repairs, nearly half to cost of the vehicle. This is a ridiculous amount of issues for a vehicle that had only 61,000 miles. We have always had regular maintenance performed also. From what I have read, Honda knows about these issues but has not issued a recall. In addition I've read that "juddering" CTV issue is a known issue in 2015-2018 Honda CR-V's. Needless to say we are not happy with Honda about any of this.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "Forward Collision Avoidance”, “Brakes", and several other unknown safety features were displayed. The failure caused the cruise control to become inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
Engine, Apr 26, 2026
I am reporting a potential safety defect with my 2018 Honda CR-V EX-L. While driving under normal conditions, the vehicle suddenly overheated without warning. The temperature gauge rapidly rose to “high,” and warning messages appeared indicating an engine overheating/cooling system issue. I was forced to pull over immediately to avoid engine failure and a potential accident. The vehicle was unsafe to continue driving and had to be inspected by a mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with a blown head gasket, and coolant had leaked into the engine. I was informed that the engine may need to be replaced due to the severity of the damage. This issue occurred without prior warning and created a serious safety hazard because the vehicle could have stalled or seized while in motion, potentially causing an accident or leaving me stranded in traffic. The vehicle has been properly maintained and was being driven normally at the time of the incident. I am concerned this may be a manufacturing defect involving the engine, head gasket, or cooling system. I am submitting this complaint so the issue can be investigated for potential safety risks to other drivers.
Seat belts, Apr 21, 2026
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the driver’s side seat belt failed to latch as designed and became inoperable. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.
Steering, Apr 20, 2026
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 - 70 MPH, the steering wheel was stuck while veering towards the left or the right. While turning the steering wheel, the steering wheel jerked in the opposite direction. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with steering rack failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched and found several similar recalls for the issue, but the VIN was not included. The contact learned that the failure was primarily caused by the steering gearbox failure, but the dealer had not yet determined if the steering gear needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,500.
Steering, Apr 17, 2026
Steering wheel feels sticky, heavy and not always returns to center. Increased steering effort makes it harder to steer increasing the risk of a crash. Honda Dealer indicated my vehicle was not under recall and would cost approximately $3000 to fix the steering rack.

Head gasket/coolant leak. Dec 2 2025 my car started sputtering so I went into the AutoZone to use an obd2 reader for the check engine light. The code showed cylinders 2 and 3 were misfiring. I took it to the Honda dealership to fully diagnose the issue, they told me I needed new spark plugs but also that my coolant was low (they didn’t bring any concern for this) and just topped it off. They told me my fuel filter was recalled but the couldn’t service it cuz I had a full tank of gas. April 3 2026. Car started sputtering again but worse, it lost power and couldn’t drive more the 12mph. I assumed with the symptoms that the fuel filter was going out. April 4 2026 brought my car in to Honda for fuel filter replacement. After replacement was finished, the service tech said my coolant was almost depleted. And they don’t see any noticeable leaks. April 8 2026 car started sputtering again and I checked the coolant level and half the tank was gone. Brought it back to Honda for diagnostics There are thousands of Honda owners experiencing the same issue with the same engine (1.5L turbo). Honda made a deformed head gasket which causes the coolant to leak into cylinders 2 and 3. Head gasket blows requiring car owners to pay $5-$10,000 for repairs and in some cases, damages the engine beyond repair. Hondas negligence is causing its vehicles to be unsafe on the road. They need to be held accountable and the head gaskets need to be recalled
Steering, Apr 10, 2026
The steering wheel feels as if it is sticking while driving, forcing me to use slightly more pressure to force the wheel past the "sticking" point. This causes me to overcorrect my steering, making the car jolt to the left or right depending on which way I'm moving the steering wheel. I feel this mostly at speeds higher than 65, but it has happened at lower speeds as well. This has been happening several times a week for the past 3 weeks. My mechanic checked the car and was unable to diagnose the cause as he doesn't have the ability to put it on a machine. I called my local Honda dealer and prices start at 150 for diagnostics. Upon research I found that this same complaint has been filed on other makes and models the same as mine, however my VIN is not included. I have had no accidents due to this issue but it is happening more.
