  5. Structure, frame and membersDec 5, 2019

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019-2020 CR-V vehicles. The rear subframe bolts were improperly manufactured and may loosen, allowing the rear subframe to separate.

A separated rear subframe reduces vehicle handling and can suddenly disable the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear subframe bolts and retorque them or replace them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began January 27, 2020. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is R6M.

  6. Equipment, other, owners/service/other manualSep 26, 2019

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 CR-V vehicles. The owner's guide incorrectly describes when the "Passenger Airbag Off" indicator should illuminate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

If the front passenger does not correctly understand how the airbag functions, they may be at an increased risk of personal injury in the event of a crash.

Honda will notify owners and provide a sticker with the correct information to be added to the owner's guide, free of charge. The recall began November 14, 2019. Owner's may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is X6G.

  8. Air bags, frontal, driver clockspring/spiral cassetteMay 21, 2019

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 CR-V vehicles. The metal core of the steering wheel may have burrs which can damage the harnesses routed within, potentially disabling the driver's air bag or causing it to deploy without warning.

In the event of a crash, a disabled air bag would increase the risk of injury. An uncommanded deployment of the driver's air bag also increases the risk of injury and a crash.

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover on the steering wheel core and replace clockspring and the harnesses within, free of charge. The recall began July 8, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is R4S.

  1. Structure, Apr 14, 2024

On Wednesday, [XXX], the sunroof glass of my 2019 Honda Cr-V Ex spontaneously exploded while driving on the highway. There was a startling loud sound that rendered me shocked while driving! It caused me to take my eyes off the road to look around my vehicle and in the rear-view mirror to see what had happened. Nothing hit the vehicle! Luckily, there were no other vehicles nor pedestrians nearby. I maintained staying in my lane, but I was completely distracted by the sound, this could have been dangerous! Also luckily, the interior sunroof shade was closed or I'd have been showered in broken glass. The service manager at the dealer I called, Greensboro Honda, said "I'm not going to lie, I have heard of this happening before". There are many reports of this happening online and, according to news station reports, an NHTSA investigation that was closed in 2021 citing that it “has not identified sufficient evidence of a safety-related defect in the subject sunroof.” On the same day the incident occurred, my vehicle was inspected by the Service employees of Honda of Greensboro, NC. They refused to fix the problem b/c the 'Area Manager", against the recommendation of the 'Service Manager', stated that "something must have hit the vehicle". I repeatedly insisted that nothing hit the vehicle. I have filed a claim with Nationwide Insurance. Greensboro of Honda did take photos and they taped the hole in the sunroof at no charge which was kind yet suspicious since I bought this 'Certified Pre-owned" vehicle at Leith Honda of Aberdeen. The Greensboro Honda dealership is not owned by Leith. Twice, once by phone message and once via email, I requested the email, denying the issue be fixed by Honda, between the 'Service Manager' and the 'Area Manager' at Greensboro Honda be forwarded to me, to no avail. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. Note: the shape of the fractured glass hole look almost identical to others. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  2. Air bags, Seat belts, Seats, Apr 14, 2024

The passenger side seat weight sensor assembly failed. It is available for inspection. The vehicle has been inspected and repaired by a certified Honda dealer. The airbag light stayed on beginning in December 2023. The SRS warning light came on in March 2024. This defect was subject to a recall of CRV’s manufactured from 2020 to 2022. We believe the 2019 vehicles were affected also and should have been part of the recall. Honda has recognized this problem and has reimbursed us $800 of the $1758.68 of the repair bill.

  4. Fuel/propulsion system, Apr 12, 2024

Newspaper told me about the fuel pump recall in December. I have called the dealer several times over the last 5 months. They still don't have the parts. newspaper says "engine may stall increasing crash and injury risk." I called your help line who told me to wait til the parts are available. How long will I have to wait????????????????????????????????????

  5. Other or unspecified, Apr 9, 2024

A loud pop like a gunshot went off which was the sound of the Moonroof spontaneously shattering while driving. If this had been open then the shattered glass could have rained down on driver and passengers causing injury and/or wreck due to sharp pieces of glass.

  6. Fuel/propulsion system, Apr 3, 2024

The Safety Recall Notice that I have received from Honda (relating to my 2019 CRV) states that the fuel pump may fail and that could result in an accident. Then they state that the replacement parts will not be available until the Fall 2024. A copy of the recall notice is attached. I am concerned that I will be driving a vehicle, for many months, which might cause an accident. It is irresponsible of Honda to not address this issue quickly.

  7. Fuel system, Gasoline, Mar 28, 2024

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact received a notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The dealer had been notified about the recall but informed the contact that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer had been notified of the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

  8. Electrical system, Service brakes, Mar 26, 2024

    > What component or system failed or malfunctioned. Brake fluid line defect resulted in total loss of braking power. Line spraying brake fluid in engine compartment. >Is it available for inspection upon request? Yes, but it is scheduled to be worked on in two days. >How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Total loss of braking power. Fortunately, the problem manifest in our home driveway at slow speed. >Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, by a Honda dealer service center. Dealer concluded that failure of the original equipment Honda battery resulted in acid leaking on brake components and resulted in the bursting of the brake line and total loss of braking. >Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. >Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No.

  9. Other or unspecified, Mar 26, 2024

    I don’t have any problem

  10. Steering, Mar 21, 2024

After using the LKAS at 36,300 miles I observed stickiness in the steering wheel. I drove it for awhile but the stickiness makes it difficult to steer and could cause an accident. I took it to the dealer and now at 37,000 miles it needs a complete rack and pinion steering assembly at almost $4000 dollars. I have been driving cars since the 1970's and this is the first steering issue I have encountered. You would think that steering would be a system they have mastered by now. I also know that slightly older Honda CRV's (IE, 2018 model year) have been recalled for an issue like this due to improper heat treatment of the gears in the rack and pinion system. My guess is that the same parts in that model year are also in the 2019 model and it should b added to the recall as well. This system should not fail at only 37,000 miles.

  12. Other or unspecified, Visibility/wiper, Mar 20, 2024

I was driving down a road with no traffic when the sunroof shattered. I pulled over and there was a hole in the middle and it was completely cracked. No damage to any other component of the sunroof just the glass. There was nothing that impacted or fell on the sunroof. There was no prior damage to the sunroof or surrounding area. The sunroof was closed not in use at time of incident. Dealership could not find a reason for the damage but did say they had someone else go in for a sun roof randomly exploding as well.

  14. Fuel/propulsion system, Forward collision avoidance, Mar 13, 2024, crash

Car stops suddenly on highway, going into, "limp mode." All dash warning lights came on. Rich emissions. VTM-4 issue. This is an ongoing issue with CR-Vs, yet manufacturer has issues no solution, clearly opting to work each situation independently. Therefore, manufacturer saves the time and money associated with these repairs.

  15. Fuel/propulsion system, Mar 11, 2024

While driving my CRV in mid July 2023, I experienced engine stall, dash board flashing all kinds of error codes. I was a couple of miles away from home and was able to drive slowly home. Next day I had my vehicle towed to a local auto body shop for diagnosis. Body shop reported that my vehicle was under a recall for the problem with the fuel pump. We then had my vehicle towed to nearest Honda Dealer, Clawson Honda of Fresno. They agreed that the problem was because of the fuel pump, but at the time my VIN did not fall under current recall. I was told to keep my receipts for future reimbursement should the recall be revised to include my VIN. It now has. The dealer had my vehicle from July 14th to Aug 31st, stating parts were unavailable because of the volume of the recall. The finally just replace the whole fuel pump. I filed for reimbursement providing all documents required and was denied because the part number on the recall did not match the part number on the invoice. I called the dealership and asked if I needed to have the recalled part replaced and was told no because it was part of the whole fuel pump that was already replaced. I tried calling Honda again to contest the denial decision and was shut down, not allowed to contest the decision.

  16. Fuel/propulsion system, Mar 7, 2024

I had received a recall notice for the fuel pump replacement from the dealership in Dec 2023 with no remedy provided as the part was not available. I did not receive the official notice from American Honda until February 2024. The notice specifies that the part can malfunction causing the car to stall. The notice also mentions the possibility that the part will not be available until Fall 2024. Altogether, this will be almost 9 months of driving a defective vehicle. I've contacted the company and the dealership several times to ask for a remedy, perhaps a loaner vehicle or reimbursement for car services, and no one has offered any remedy, and I am left driving an unsafe car. I understand the shortage of parts but for those that rely on their vehicles 9 months for a replacement part is excessive.

  17. Other or unspecified, Mar 7, 2024

Multiple codes are showing up while driving. The car has been at a local Honda dealership for over 3 months while waiting on a part associated with an open recall for fuel pump. The dealership cannot determine the root cause of the codes.

  18. Fuel system, Gasoline, Mar 5, 2024

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

  19. Electrical system, Mar 4, 2024

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The warning lights periodically went on and off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who reprogrammed the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,770. The VIN was unavailable.

  20. Forward collision avoidance, Mar 4, 2024

    1. CMBS (front collision detection system) has malfunctioned approximately 3-4 times over the past 3 years. 2. While operating the vehicle in different settings, front-collision will incorrectly detect something in front of the car when nothing is there and apply brakes causing the car to stop suddenly and unexpectedly. The first 2 incidents occurred in my parking structure and no one was behind me. The 3rd incident occurred while driving on a surface street in Honolulu, and again no one was ahead or behind me. The final incident occurred today ([XXX] at approximately [XXX] HST). There was no one in front and a car behind me and the CMBS flashed a warning and slammed on the brakes bringing the car to a complete stop. Car behind me was forced to stop to avoid rear-end collision. 3. I took the car in for inspection after the 3rd incident last year (Pacific Honda dealership). Vehicle was inspected, mechanic took the car for a test drive, and was unable to replicate the problem. I was told this happens and car was returned to me. 4. There were no warning lights or messages indicating a problem with the CMBS prior to these events occurring. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  21. Forward collision avoidance, Mar 3, 2024

ON 2 separate occasions, the latest being today 3 March 2024 the automatic braking system has engaged when no obstacle present.

  22. Forward collision avoidance, Feb 28, 2024

The Honda Collision Mitigation System (CMBS) engaged incorrectly. I was accelerating from an intersection with no cars in front of me or next to me when the car flashed the “BRAKE” warning and engaged the brakes hard causing the car to come to a nearly full stop from around 25-30 mph. Had there been a car behind me, they would have been at risk of hitting me because of the sudden nature of braking. Fortunately that didn’t happen, but the hard braking did strain my neck. This had not happened before, but in the past, I have noticed the system incorrectly flashing the “BRAKE” message when cars turn right from in front of me. I would make the vehicle available for inspection if asked, and will bring the issue to the dealership’s attention too.

  23. Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Feb 24, 2024

Sometimes when you shut the car off, the fuel pump in the fuel tank continues to run. I restarted my car and shut it off and the fuel pump will stop. I'm not sure if it's a bad relay or in the wiring. I don't park near the house. Thanks

  25. Steering, Feb 22, 2024

In November of 2023, I started having a noise in the front end of my 2019 Honda CRV. I took it into the local Honda dealership and was told that I had a bad power steering rack. They replaced the steering gear box. I was concerned that a vehicle with only 34,000 miles on it would have such an important component break so soon. I looked on [XXX] & saw there were multiple reports of the same thing occurring on other same year, low mileage cars. There were reports on the same website that indicated some had actual problem when steering. I reported it to American Honda, they were responsive, but I did not know that this was the group that needed to be alerted to the problem. So, I am addressing it now. Thanks for your time.
