  8. Air bags, frontal, driver clockspring/spiral cassetteMay 21, 2019

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 CR-V vehicles. The metal core of the steering wheel may have burrs which can damage the harnesses routed within, potentially disabling the driver's air bag or causing it to deploy without warning.

In the event of a crash, a disabled air bag would increase the risk of injury. An uncommanded deployment of the driver's air bag also increases the risk of injury and a crash.

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover on the steering wheel core and replace clockspring and the harnesses within, free of charge. The recall began July 8, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is R4S.

  4. Fuel/propulsion system, Feb 17, 2024

I am reaching out because I received a recall notice for my HONDA CRV 2019. I received a notice that there’s and issue with the fuel pump and I am concerned because Honda sent a notice now in February but they have known about the issue since December. I called Honda World Downey and I was told they would now be able to help me and to call back. I take this matter very seriously as I am concerned something may happen to me while I am driving the vehicle. I was told that they may be able to help me in Fall of 2024 that’s 6 plus months away. I am unsure if I should drive my vehicle. Can I please get some advice.

  7. Fuel/propulsion system, Feb 15, 2024

The NHTSA announced a recall in the fall 2023 for Honda CR-V 2018-2020 regarding the fuel pump module which may have an improperly molded impeller. The safety issue says the car may not start or may stall while driving. I travel frequently on highways, so stalling is not a pleasant outcome. On 2/13/24, I finally received a written notice from Honda indicating that my vehicle is affected. However, Honda states that parts will not be available until fall 2024! How can this be acceptable?? I don't have another vehicle to use. Do I continue driving my vehicle and hope that it does not suddenly stop?

  14. Other or unspecified, Feb 11, 2024

Infotainment system failure. Doesn't work for hands free. Phone doesn't connect for GPS or the way it's intended for phone calls, etc.

  15. Forward collision avoidance, Feb 11, 2024

Driving in a 45 mph area and automatic braking system engaged for absolutely no reason and car came to a jerking halt. I was nearly rear-ended. Scared myself and 3 children in the car with me.

  16. Electrical system, Feb 11, 2024

Randomly all (12 or 13) warning lights come on my dash. Everything from check engine, cruise control problem, hill start problem, braking problem, tire pressure problems, etc. Honda claims they don't find any problems with my car, but I have had this happen for years. Even under warranty, the dealership and Honda of America did nothing.

  17. Forward collision avoidance, Lane departure, Feb 8, 2024

Warning lights kept cycling thru and dinging every half second. Took it to dealer and it is a faulty front camera in the windshield. They said they see it all the time and immediately diagnosed it. Said it is a faulty design and costs ~$1,700.

  19. Steering, Feb 7, 2024

Car has a steering problem. After driving for a while at highway speeds, the steering "catches" or is "sticky" where it takes extra effort to make even minor adjustments. The car has been doing this for approximately 10K miles (one year) and is making us nervous about taking any long road trips at highway speeds. The car is out of warranty and the dealer is indicating the electric power steering unit is probably at fault, but will not honor a safety replacement and will charge approximately $3500 for replacement.. This certainly should be honored as a recall safety problem.

  20. Forward collision avoidance, Feb 6, 2024

Vehicle went into crash avoidance mode unexpectedly with no vehicles directly ahead. There was a vehicle beside me in an adjacent lane. I was traveling at about 40mph and had just completed a turn when the BRAKE warning appeared on the dash and the brakes were suddenly applied. The incident lasted for only a few seconds and the controls returned to normal. The problem this caused a sudden decrease in speed. Fortunately there were no cars nearby so I did not have any trouble. While returning home after a stop, the BRAKE warning light momentarily appeared on the dash, but this time the brakes were not applied. This has never happened before. There has been no inspection of the vehicle at this point by anyone. As a footnote. on 23 January, the windshield was replaced by Safelite Auto Glass who recalibrated the camera system as part of the service.

  21. Tires, Feb 6, 2024

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V equipped with Firestone Tires, Tire Line: Destination LE3, Tire Size: 235/60/R18, DOT Number: [XXX]. The contact stated that after the vehicle was taken to the tire dealer for tire rotation, the wheel sensor warning light illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle vibrated and made an abnormal sound while driving. The contact pulled over to inspect the tires and discovered that the front driver's side tire had been plugged with an unknown object. The vehicle was taken back to the tire dealer, where air was added to the tires. The front driver's side tire was not replaced. The tire manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The tire failure mileage was 30,000. The vehicle failure mileage was 54,000. The VIN was unavailable. 22. Engine, Jan 30, 2024

Fuel contamination leads to the dilution of my engine oil. I perform my own oil changes, ensuring the engine is filled to 50% on the dipstick. Typically, after 4 to 5 months, the dipstick indicates the oil level at FULL due to fuel contamination. This causes me to change the oil to prevent excessive engine wear caused by dilution. This problem started ever since I purchased the SUV (2019 Honda CRV EX) new on 8/31/2019.

  23. Fuel system, Gasoline, Jan 29, 2024

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

  24. Electrical system, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 29, 2024

A little over two weeks ago we took our 2019 Honda CRV to the dealership because all the indicator lights were lighting up on the dashboard. It started as I was sitting in the car with the car idling as I waited for my husband to come out of the store. We took a short video of what it was doing. The car was at the dealership the next day, but there were no indicator lights like the previous day. We shared the video with the service rep. When we picked it up we were told the fuel injectors needed to be replaced and it would cost in excess of $2,300. The car has less than 78,000 miles on it. The service rep said that if it was his car he would not drive it a distance (freeway) with this problem. That says to me that it is a safety issue. We had been concerned that it could be an electrical issue because the car was in a front-end, side-swipe collision in November 2023, and we had just gotten it back from repairs at the dealership two weeks before the indicator lights problem. The service rep assured us it was not an electrical problem. I looked up the problem on the internet. On [XXX] there were a number of other Honda CRV owners with the same problem at about the same mileage. Our safety is at risk with possible risk to friends and family because we need to drive on the freeway for daily activities. We took it to an independent automotive service location. They did not come to the same conclusion; the indicator lights were no longer on. This vehicle component has not been inspected by any others, other than already mentioned. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  25. Steering, Jan 29, 2024

Starting at just over 36,000 miles after the last time I used LKAS there is now a stickiness in the steering. Light catches that almost seem like the LKAS is still trying to correct. I can overcome the catches, but makes the steering less comfortable than it should be and worry about worsening issue. Will be taking the car in for service but have seen may issues related to steering on this model of car, so wanted to make sure all complaints are noted by NHTSA. No warning lights are showing.
