Representative owner complaints

969 reports, newest first.

  1. Fuel/propulsion system, Feb 17, 2026

I went to my van, and many alerts were going off on the dash about multiple systems failing and not working. I got the van to the dealer who said it was the fuel injectors that needed replaced. I found a service bulletin about this saying American Honda is extending the warranty on the fuel injection repairs to 10 years from the original date of purchase or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. The dealer said there was not a recall on my vin and there was nothing they could do and I was forced to pay for the repairs.

  2. Air bags, Feb 17, 2026

while driving on an open road driver's side air bag suddenly deployed causing an unsafe driving condition

  3. Forward collision avoidance, Feb 14, 2026

Failure of camera unit leading to all safety systems requiring it becoming non operative. Well known issue and widely reported.

  4. Forward collision avoidance, Lane departure, Feb 14, 2026

Front camera appears to have gone out in 2025. All safety features inoperable and constant flashing of warnings making it impossible to determine if anything is actually wrong. Collision mitigation failure, blind spot failure, transmission failure, brake system failure, blind spot. Those control etc. Honda has confirmed its issue with front camera.

  5. Power train, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Feb 14, 2026

Vehicle intermittently loses propulsion during acceleration when merging. Engine RPM remains low despite throttle input. After a delay, transmission re-engages abruptly with a metallic scraping noise. This creates unsafe merging conditions. This happened today, 2/14/2026 in 4 instances in the same trip. It has also occurred approximately 50 other times over the past six months when the mileage was as low as 66,100 miles.

  6. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Feb 10, 2026

The computer system for the sliding doors and back hatch do not work properly. They will occasionally stop working or will stop mid-open or close. In addition, on three separate occasions the sensors did not work. One time the back hatch started to close while I was getting something out of the trunk. It did not sense by body and would not stop. I tried to stop it physically but the hatch continued to close. If I had not gotten out of the way, it would have crushed me. This happened to my husband on a separate occasion as well. He is athletic - [XXX} and [XXX] and was pushing up with all of his strength and the hatch continued to close on him before he had to jump out of the way. On the third occasion - the sliding side door started to close on my [XXX] as I was helping him into his car seat. This issue WILL KILL SOMEONE. The 2019 Honda Odysseys need to be recalled immediately. I alerted my local Honda service center (Don Jacobs in Lexington, Ky). I asked them to notify Honda and they told me they wouldn't do that unless more people had similar issues. They have attempted to fix the computer system on several occasions and always say the issue is fixed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  7. Structure, Feb 9, 2026

My driver sliding door will not open or close manually or automatically. This is concerning because if I was to ever get in a wreck and my van was struck on the passenger side, we wouldn’t be able to get out of the car because the other door won’t open. I did see that 107,000 vehicles were recalled due to this same problem I’m having. Obviously looking online, this is affecting more than 107,000… I already had to fix my passenger sliding door due to a faulty sensor. What next?

  8. Fuel/propulsion system, Feb 6, 2026

My 2019 Honda Odyssey had an emissions code come up with OBD II sensor code of P219A which led to research revealing that the code was a result of fuel injector failure. I took my van to the dealer who revealed that based on my VIN, I am not eligible for the extended warranty issued by Honda in 2021. This has resulted in a $1900.00 repair bill that should be covered based on history and problems. ref: [XXX] and [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  9. Lane departure, Forward collision avoidance, Feb 2, 2026

The front camera that is responsible for ADAS suddenly died and it is very vurnerable to heat. The unit gets very hot and it gets hot quickly. The lifespan of the unit is very short and the dealer is asking for $2000 to replace it like they have seen this pretty often.

  10. Electrical system, Forward collision avoidance, Feb 2, 2026

**Vehicle:** 2019 Honda Odyssey **Components Affected:** Forward Collision Avoidance, Lane Departure, Adaptive Cruise Control, Braking System, Exterior Lighting, Electrical System, Instrument Cluster **Complaint Summary:** Multiple safety systems on my 2019 Honda Odyssey have simultaneously failed, including LKAS, ACC, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Auto High-Beam Headlights, and other driver-assist features. The dashboard displays warnings for nearly every safety-related system, and the vehicle disables these features without warning. **Detailed Description of the Problem:** Whenever I start my vehicle, multiple error messages are displayed related to the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Road Departure Mitigation, Auto Headlights, and other safety features. These warnings appear together and persist even after restarting the vehicle. Apparently, this issue is widespread among 2018–2020 Honda Odyssey owners, with many reporting the same cluster of system failures. The problem appears to be related to a malfunction in the vehicle’s electrical system, sensors, or control modules. In my case, the failures occur without any external damage, weather event, or driver action that would explain the sudden loss of safety functionality. When these systems fail, the vehicle disables critical safety features such as automatic emergency braking, lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, and automatic headlights. This creates a significant safety risk, especially at highway speeds or in low‑visibility conditions. **Frequency:** The issue occurs whenever the vehicle is started, affecting my driving everyday.

  11. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Engine, Feb 1, 2026

As I was driving the car computer showed overheating, brake failure, transmission failure and the car started shaking and the engine died. I had the car towed by triple AAA to a auto repair shop, but the next day when they went to fix the problem could not replicate it.

  12. Power train, Jan 30, 2026

The transmission in my 2019 Honda Odyssey failed prematurely at approximately 102,800 miles, requiring a full transmission repair/replacement. Prior to failure, the vehicle exhibited known warning symptoms including harsh and erratic shifting, hesitation, delayed engagement, and loss of smooth acceleration. These symptoms progressively worsened and ultimately resulted in unsafe drivability. This failure is consistent with a well-documented pattern of transmission defects affecting 2018–2019 Honda Odyssey models. Numerous owners have reported similar issues through NHTSA complaints and Honda service channels. A transmission failure at this mileage is not consistent with reasonable consumer expectations for a modern vehicle and presents a safety concern due to unpredictable shifting behavior, hesitation during acceleration, and loss of drivability. These issues increase the risk of collision, particularly when merging, accelerating from stops, or driving in traffic. Honda has declined assistance solely on the basis that the vehicle is outside the powertrain warranty, despite the failure aligning with known defect patterns rather than normal wear and tear. I am submitting this complaint to document a recurring defect and request further investigation into premature transmission failures in this model year. After receiving a replacement transmission in my 2019 Honda Odyssey, the vehicle continues to experience the same failure symptoms: harsh shifting, delayed engagement, and intermittent slipping. These ongoing issues indicate that the replacement transmission did not fully correct the underlying defect, which is consistent with other complaints submitted to NHTSA regarding 2018–2019 Odyssey models. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this recurring defect and track the persistent issues associated with replacement transmissions in this model year.

  13. Engine, Jan 28, 2026

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly entered LIMP Mode, and the check engine warning light started flashing. While Driving Pressing on the gas pedal I got a minute of no acceleration, it felt like the van stopped on me, and then I start pressing on the gas pedal harder but nothing happens and then it shoots forward like a jet, this happened a few times, very dangerous, could have got hit from behind from oncoming traffic behind me since the van just slowed down so much, then shooting forward was also scary. I did take it to a mechanic in the past and they couldnt figiure out what was wrong. the transmission light went on last week and the van didnt drive, I had to tow it to two different mechanics, both letting me know that I had to replace the transmission on my van, this is only a 2019 and only has 74,000 miles on it, this shouldnt happen.

Life-Threatening Acceleration Lag: The vehicle is experiencing severe power loss during critical driving moments, for example, while entering intersections or attempting to re-accelerate into moving traffic. When I attempt to speed up, the engine fails to respond initially, leaving the vehicle stranded in the path of cross-traffic. The engine finally engages only because I am forced to floor the accelerator pedal out of necessity, which then causes the tires to squeal when power eventually returns. Intermittent Starting Issues: The vehicle frequently fails to start smoothly on the first attempt; a known symptom associated with the fuel pump impeller deformation described in Recall 23V-858. VCM Shudder and Hesitation: I am experiencing the distinct vibration and rhythmic shudder associated with the Variable Cylinder Management system. This symptom is most prominent during deceleration or coasting; specifically, when I lift my foot off the accelerator without applying the brakes, the system triggers a noticeable shudder as it incorrectly manages cylinder engagement/deactivation. Suspected Catalytic Failure (Codes P0420/P0430): Both catalytic converters are exhibiting inefficiency codes simultaneously, which are highly atypical and occur well before the expected component lifespan. This clearly points to upstream defects. Specifically, the catalytic substrate has been poisoned by carbon and phosphorus deposits from the documented oil-burning defect and has suffered thermal damage due to the improper fuel mixtures caused by the defective high-pressure fuel pump (Recall 23V-858).

I am submitting this complaint to report a serious and recurring safety issue with my Honda Odyssey involving the camera system. Multiple warning messages and fault codes appeared on the dashboard simultaneously, including: -Collision Mitigation System Problem -Adaptive Cruise Control Problem -Lane Keep Assist Problem -Auto High Beam Problem These systems are all disabled. This failure occurred without warning and immediately compromised several critical driver-assistance and safety features. We have serviced at Honda dealerships and they said the only fix is a new $1500 camera (but the camera still works). Despite this, no recall has been issued. We have owned Honda vehicles for decades and never had these type of issues. A recall needs to be announced and owners allowed a fix at no charge. The transmission warning lights are also coming on intermittently and we paid to have Honda diagnose. The transmission is fine they said. Please help.

Improper seal on the seam (?) above let water leak into my power tailgate control module. It caused all the dash lights to sporadically rapidly flash, told me I have a transmission problem and my blind spot warning didn’t work right. Pulled out the tailgate module to find water in the module with a failed circuit board. Also wires leading into the module were wet

Transmission stops producing power and has delayed acceleration. Almost caused an accident and possibly fatalities.

  22. Other or unspecified, Jan 14, 2026

The problem with this vehicle is what I believe to be the transmission. When the car accelerates there is a delayed effect. The car jerks or unexpectedly accelerates while driving. Our safety has been compromised because of this issue. It’s random when these things happen. I’ve taken it the to dealership and they have said they found nothing wrong. There are no lights that come up.

Sensor issue that is causing safety concerns with cruise control, lane keep assistance. Forward collision issue, etc.

Service engine light has been lit up and it says “emissions system problem”. I have had it tested at the shop and it states code P219A (air-fuel ratio variation of cylinder [bank 1, rear bank) which I am told has a warranty extension from Honda for 10 years or 150k miles. I am told my VIN does not quality. If other 2019 Odyssey’s have the same issue and qualify, why doesn’t mine? The fuel injectors are clogging and failing way too early for 66k miles. This has been going on for around 6 months Safety concerns - Potential engine failure, reduced performance, and increased emissions

The vehicle experienced a sudden internal transmission failure (power train). While driving, the vehicle began making grinding noises during acceleration and lost propulsion. The vehicle then displayed multiple warning indicators, including a transmission warning and a blinking electric parking brake indicator. After stopping, the vehicle would not engage Drive and became inoperable, requiring towing. The transmission remains available for inspection at the dealership. This failure created a safety risk due to loss of propulsion and inability to move the vehicle under its own power, including the risk of being stranded in traffic or unable to safely clear a roadway. The problem was confirmed by an authorized Honda dealership, which diagnosed an internal transmission failure and recommended full transmission replacement. No prior transmission repairs had been performed by outside shops. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Honda dealership. The manufacturer has not physically inspected the vehicle beyond dealership diagnosis. Warning symptoms included intermittent grinding during acceleration and loss of power shortly before complete failure. Warning messages and indicators appeared at the time of failure.
