Recalls and investigations

  1. Electrical system, wiring, rear compartment/trunkPark outsideMay 11, 2023

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a power liftgate. An electrical short in the power liftgate module may lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off.

A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.

Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will relocate the power liftgate module and add a water shield. In addition, dealers will inspect for corrosion and replace the module and electrical connectors, if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner letters were mailed March 1, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 49A. This recall supersedes recalls 15V-393 and 15V-826. Vehicles repaired under the prior recalls will still need to have the new remedy performed.

  2. Power train, driveline, differential unitJun 11, 2020

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a two-speed Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Relative movement in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) between the differential input splines and the transmission output shaft may cause some input spline teeth to wear off, which may eventually cause a loss of engagement between the transmission and the differential inside the PTU. If this occurs, power cannot be transferred between the front wheels and the transmission which results in a loss of drive while the vehicle is in motion and a loss of the Park function while stationary.

A loss of drive can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. A loss of the Park function can cause unintended vehicle rollaway which can increase the risk of a crash or injury.

FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will perform a software update that will maintain vehicle propulsion by engaging rear wheel drive and prevent rolling in Park by activating the electronic parking brake if a failed input spline occurs. This recall began July 14, 2020. Owners may contact FCA USA LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is W47.

  3. Power train, automatic transmissionJun 13, 2019

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.2L engines. In the event that a clutch becomes stuck in the transmission, the transmission software may shift the transmission to neutral.

An unexpected shift to neutral would result in a loss of drive, increasing the risk of crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the transmission software, free of charge. The recall began August 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V69.

  4. Electrical system, wiringMay 17, 2018

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

  5. EquipmentDec 21, 2017

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

If the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.

Chrysler will notify owners instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began February 14, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or Kidde customer service service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. The transmission sensor clusters may have insufficient crimps in the transmission wire harness, and as a result, the transmission may unexpectedly shift to neutral. On August 29, 2016 Chrysler added the 2016 Fiat 500X vehicles to this recall.

If the vehicle unexpectedly shifts to neutral, there is an increased risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module and the Transmission Control Module and if necessary replace the transaxle range sensor wire harness, free of charge. The recall began on November 7, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S55.

CAR JUST STOPPED ON HIGHWAY. SINCE THEN 7 INCIDENTS, CHECK TRANSMISSION, ENGINE LIGHT ON,CAR GOING OUT OF GEAR AND NOT MOVING. INTO SERVICE 3 TIMES, NOW [XXX] HAS HAD IT FOR 2 AND 1/2 WEEKS AND CHRYSLER WILL NOT LET THEM PUT IN NEW TRANSMISSION, KEEP PUTTING PARTS IN AND THEN ANOTHER PROBLEM COMES UP. WE TOOK DELIVERY OF OUR 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED ON MARCH 14,2014. AFTER DRIVING IT FOR APPROX 1 MONTH WE NOTICED A VERY PROMINENT WOBBLE/SHIMMY IN THE FRONT END ON ACCELERATION, THIS STOPS AFTER IT SHIFTS INTO 3RD GEAR. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WITH THIS ISSUE ,THEY AGREED THERE WAS A PROBLEM. FIRST THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE REAR SHAFT AND IT GOT WORSE, NEXT THEY REPLACED THE CV SHAFTS AND ISOLATOR BUSHING. THESE REPAIRS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THEN WE WERE TOLD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD GET BETTER. WE NOW HAVE 6000 MILES ON IT AND IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE. WE ARE NOW TOLD THAT VEHICLE OPERATES AS DESIGNED?? WHO DESIGNS A VEHICLE TO WOBBLE/SHIMMY ON ACCELERATION? THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND WE WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER JEEP. WE HAVE OWNED 4 JEEPS IN THE PAST. *TR

  4. Power train, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Oct 25, 2014

WHEN DECELERATING FOR A SPEED ZONE, THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED FROM 5TH TO 4TH, THE RPMS WENT UP APPROXIMATELY 1000 AND THE CAR ACCELERATED. THE 'UNINTENDED' ACCELERATION CHARACTERISTIC IS ALSO EVIDENT ON DOWNHILL DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN. THIS OCCURS OR A FREQUENT BASIS AND WAS EVIDENT PRIOR TO, AND AFTER, A TRANSMISSION/TCM REPLACEMENT. MY WIFE NO LONGER FEELS SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND HAS GONE BACK TO USING HER SUBARU FOR COMMUTING. THERE ARE OBVIOUS ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION CONTROL FIRMWARE/HARDWARE WHICH NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO BACK MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE 4X2 INTO A PARKING SPACE BETWEEN 2 PARKED CARS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF A ONE WAY STREET, THE CAR SLID TO THE LEFT SLAMMING THE LEFT REAR QUARTER OF MY CAR INTO THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE PARKED CAR CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH CARS. I WAS ATTEMPTING TO BACK UP INTO A SPACE ON A SLIGHTLY INCLINED STREET. I HAD TO APPLY SOME EXTRA POWER TO MY JEEP. HOWEVER IT WENT SIDEWAYS INSTEAD OF STRAIGHT BACK INTO THE PARKING SPOT. I THOUGHT I DID NOT PLAN THE MANEUVER CORRECTLY BUT WHAT HAPPENED IS THAT MY REAR LEFT TIRE LOST TRACTION TO THE ROAD WHICH MADE THE CAR TRAVEL SIDEWAYS INSTEAD OF STRAIGHT. I HAD REPORTED SOME RUBBING NOISE COMING FROM THE TIRES EARLIER IN THE WEEK AND SOME MINOR PLY IN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE DEALER. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE RUBBING NOISE AND REPORTED FIXING THE STEERING WHEEL. I PICKED UP THE CAR ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT PROBLEMS WERE STILL THE SAME. I AM GUESSING THAT THERE IS A MAJOR FLAW IN THE ESC THAT MADE THE CAR PERFORM IN THAT FLAWED MANNER. THE ESC LIGHT CAME ON AFTER THAT HIT AND WOULD NOT GO OFF. THE STEERING WHEEL NOW MORE CROCKED. AND THE REAR LEFT WHEEL LOOKS LIKE BENT. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER ON MONDAY BUT THEY WOULD NOT CONSIDER LOOKING AT IT UNTIL THE ACCIDENT IS FIXED. SO NOW IT IS IN THE SHOP. *TR

  6. Electrical system, Oct 23, 2014

WHILE TRAVELING AT NIGHT ON A HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH, I TURNED MY FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON DUE TO RAIN. AS SOON AS THE WIPERS CAME ON, THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD WENT BLACK AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO MONITOR SPEED OR VIEW RADIO, GPS, OR OTHER PANELS. THE HEADLIGHTS ALSO DIMMED SOMEWHAT. AS SOON AS WE ARRIVED AT OUR DESTINATION, I GOOGLED FOR PROBLEMS WITH WIPERS AND FOUND VARIOUS BLOGS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM ON 2014 JEEP CHEROKEES. THE ONLY ADVICE ONLINE WAS TO DISABLE THE AUTOMATIC RAIN SENSOR. AFTER DISABLING THE AUTOMATIC RAIN SENSOR, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT CORRECTED. I CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO ADVISED US TO BRING IT IN FOR A CHECKUP. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD ADVISE ME IF A RECALL WOULD BE RELEASED. *TR

  7. Power train, Oct 22, 2014

WHILE SLOWING DOWN, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, AS THE CAR APPROACHED 20 MPH, THE RPM SUDDENLY INCREASED AND THE CAR ACCELERATED. MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. I TESTED THIS MULTIPLE TIMES AND IT OCCURRED EVERY TIME!! ALSO, THE CAR HAS SHIFTED ROUGHLY SINCE THE DAY WE TOOK IT HOME. IT IS GETTING WORSE. I HAD TO APPROACH TRAFFIC LIGHTS MORE CAREFULLY TO ASSURE I WAS FAR ENOUGH BEHIND OTHER DRIVERS SO IF THE CAR LURCHED (IT DOES), I WOULD NOT HIT THE CAR IN FRONT. I AM NOT CERTAIN, BUT IT FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS ALSO DOING THIS AT ABOUT 70 MPH. I DID NOT HAVE A CHANCE TO TEST THIS MUCH. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION MUST BE REPLACED!!! THE CAR IS 7 MOS OLD. THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE, SO THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN I WILL GET MY CAR BACK!! OMGOSH! I WANT A NEW CAR! WHEN I GET THIS BACK, I WILL LIKELY TRADE IT. *TR

  8. Power train, Electrical system, Engine, Oct 22, 2014

AT FREEWAY SPEED OF 65, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY HAD NO POWER, WENT INTO NEUTRAL, AND "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" WARNING CAME ON. UPON TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER, THE ENGINE WOULD SIMPLY REV RPMS BUT PROVIDED NO POWER, EVEN AFTER TRYING TO SHIFT BETWEEN NEUTRAL AND DRIVE. AFTER GETTING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND TURNED BACK ON, AT WHICH TIME THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT WAS STILL ON, BUT THE VEHICLE WORKED AGAIN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION UNDER WARRANTY BUT PROVIDED NO EXPLANATION OF WHY IT SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER ON THE FREEWAY AND COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED A WRECK WHEN TRYING TO GET OVER SEVERAL LANES ON A BUSY FREEWAY. *TR

  9. Steering, Electrical system, Engine, Oct 21, 2014

WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE, THE PARKSENSE FEATURE DISABLED ON ITS OWN. IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER, THE RED LIGHTNING BOLT INDICATOR LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH, WHICH HAS BEEN KNOWN TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, GLOW PLUGS, SWIRL MOTOR FAILURE (LOW PRESSURE IN RAIL OR FUEL RAIL PRESSURE MALFUNCTION) AND ALSO SPEED SENSORS. THE VEHICLE THEN REVVED UP ON ITS OWN WITHOUT ACCELERATION WHILE MY FOOT WAS POSITIONED FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THAT, THE WORD "TRANSMISSION" APPEARED ON THE DASH, THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THEN THE COLLISION INDICATOR AS IF A CAR CRASH HAD OCCURRED, WHICH IT HAD NOT. FINALLY, THE POWER STEERING BECAME VERY STIFF. DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND THEY SAID THE CODES WERE UNKNOWN LIKE HIEROGLYPHICS. LEFT VEHICLE THERE. THE FOLLOWING MONDAY THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THERE WERE 3 SOFTWARE UPGRADES THAT WERE NEEDED ON THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER, THOSE UPGRADES DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. TECHNICIAN ALSO INFORMED ME THE CAR WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY DIDN'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT THEMSELVES AND GOT OFF OF THE HIGHWAY DURING A TEST RUN. THE TECHNICIAN FURTHER EXPLAINED THE VEHICLE HAD 3 TEST RUNS AND FAILED ALL 3 AND IT WAS BEYOND THEIR EXPERTISE SO CHRYSLER ENGINEERS WOULD BE CONSULTED THIS WEEK. LASTLY, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME I "MAY BE AHEAD OF A RECALL ISSUE." THE CAR IS 5 AND HALF MONTHS OLD. I ORDERED THE CAR, MEANING, I HAD IT MADE/BUILT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. IT WAS NOT A CAR PURCHASED FROM THE LOT. THEREFORE, NO OTHER DRIVERS OF THE CAR AND IT IS BRAND NEW. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE CHEROKEE HAS BEEN OUT OF PRODUCTION FOR MANY YEARS UNTIL THE 2014 RELEASE. AS A SIDE NOTE, I REMEMBER AN INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED THE WEEK PRIOR WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD DIFFICULTY SHIFTING GEARS (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). INSTEAD IT STALLED AND REVVED ON ITS OWN. *TR

  11. Power train, Oct 18, 2014

SO FAR, I HAVE EXPERIENCED THREE ISSUES WITH MY BRAND NEW JEEP CHEROKEE 2014. 1. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION, THE VEHICLE VIBRATES/WOBBLES, WHILE AT LOW FIRST GEAR SPEEDS. 2. WHEN BREAKING TO STOP, A BRIEF SURGE OF ACCELERATION HAPPENS JUST BEFORE THE STOP COMPLETES. 3. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE HESITATES WITH A JERKINESS BEFORE SHIFTING INTO GEAR. I PLAN TO BRING THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT, RESEARCH TO DATE INDICATES THERE ARE NO RESOLUTIONS FOR THESE ISSUES. I HAVE OWNED THE JEEP CHEROKEE FOR LESS THAN THREE WEEKS. *TR

  13. Engine and engine cooling, Power train, Oct 16, 2014

I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW CHEROKEE, FOLLOWED THE ENGINE/DRIVE TRAIN BREAK IN PROCEDURE AS CLOSELY AS I COULD, BUT STARTED EXPERIENCING A SIDE TO SIDE SHIMMY IN THE FRONT END OF MY VEHICLE VERY SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE. THE SHIMMY HAPPENS DURING ACCELERATION FROM A STOP AND SEEMS TO DISAPPEAR AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE SHIFTS INTO 3RD GEAR. TYPICALLY I FEEL IT IN THE GAS PEDAL AND THE STEERING WHEEL, HOWEVER IT VARIES IN INTENSITY FROM STOP TO STOP. SOMETIMES IT IS GONE AND SOMETIMES IT IS ENOUGH TO SHAKE THE WHOLE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE INTO THE SHOP 3 TIMES NOW AND EACH TIME WAS TOLD THERE IS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM AND AS FAR AS I CAN TELL WAS NOT EVEN ADDRESSED. *TR

  14. Vehicle speed control, Oct 15, 2014

JEEP WOULD ACCELERATE IN CURVES OR GOING DOWNHILL. DRIVERS FOOT WOULD NOT EVEN BE ON THE GAS PEDAL. YOU WOULD NOT SEE THE CHANGE OF SPEED IN THE SPEEDOMETER, BUT WOULD SEE IT IN THE TACHOMETER, AND YOU COULD FEEL IT SPEED UP. THERE WERE TIMES I THOUGHT THE VEHICLE WOULD FLIP IN A CURVE OR REAR END SOMEONE. IT DOES IT MOST WHILE COLD, LIKE WHEN YOU WOULD FIRST START DRIVING FOR THE DAY. *TR

  15. Suspension, Oct 15, 2014

WHEN IN FIRST GEAR AND PROCEEDING INTO SECOND GEAR THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WOBBLES BACK AND FORTH WITH A JERKY START. PER THE DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS ISSUE FOR 12 MONTHS NOW AND STILL DO NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THIS ISSUE. *TR

  16. Power train, Engine, Oct 15, 2014

WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, BETWEEN 13-20 MPH JUST BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS INTO THE NEXT GEAR THE WHOLE VEHICLE SHIMMIES OR WOBBLES FOR A FEW SECONDS. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME, WHETHER UNDER HARD OR SOFT ACCELERATION. IT IS ALSO MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN TURNING RIGHT. THE PASSENGER IS EVEN ABLE TO FEEL THE SHIMMY, SO IT DOES NOT ONLY TRANSFER THROUGH THE PEDALS OR STEERING WHEEL. AXLES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, SOFTWARE HAS BEEN UPDATED, BUT AT THIS POINT IN TIME THERE IS NO KNOWN FIX FOR THE VEHICLE. *TR

  17. Power train, Oct 15, 2014

WOBBLE IN FRONT END ON ACCELERATION. 2ND GEAR FROM 1200-2000 RPMS. YOU CAN FEEL THE VIBRATION IN DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS. TWO NEW FRONT AXLES AND OTHER PARTS INSTALLED ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. ALSO TRANSMISSION FLASHED AND STILL PROBLEMS WITH ROUGH SHIFTING. I AM IN THE CASE MANAGEMENT GROUP AND WAITING TO HERE BACK FROM THEM. DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THE VEHICLE BUT I HAVE NO OTHER TRANSPORTATION. *TR

  18. Power train, Oct 14, 2014

I HAD MULTIPLE CASES OF THE CAR NOT MOVING IN THE MORNING (ENGINE IS FINE). IT FELT AS IF A CLUTCH WAS SLIPPING. THE FIRST 2 TIMES THE DEALER COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. THE 3RD TIME HE REPRODUCED THE PROBLEM - AND REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION VALVE-BODY AND PERFORMED ADAPTIVE LEARNING. THIS TOOK NEARLY 2 WEEKS. A WEEK LATER - THE TRANSMISSION FAILED NEAR THE SUMMIT OF MT. WASHINGTON NH. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND SHE FELT THAT THE CAR HAD NO POWER - THE GEAR WAS IN MANUAL, 1ST GEAR. I TURNED THE CAR BACK DOWN AND STARTED DESCENDING. THERE SEEMED TO BE NO ENGINE BRAKING AND THE BRAKES STARTED TO SMOKE AND LOOSE GRIP. I HAD TO STOP NUMEROUS TIMES TO LET THE BRAKES COOL. THE CAR IS BACK AT THE DEALERS. THEY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM - CHRYSLER ADVISED THEM TO PUT GREASE ON A CONNECTOR AND DRIVE THE CAR A BIT. IF THE PROBLEM DOESN'T REPEAT - THEY WANT TO RETURN THE CAR TO ME AS IS. CHRYSLER'S INCOMPETENCE WILL GET SOMEONE KILLED - THIS COULD HAPPEN CROSSING A RAILWAY. TURNING LEFT AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, OR GOING DOWN A LONG DESCENT. *TR

I KEEP MY HEADLIGHTS ON THE AUTOMATIC SETTING AT ALL TIMES. APPROXIMATELY 4-5X'S SINCE OWNING THIS VEHICLE I HAVE GOTTEN IN AND THERE WOULD BE NO LIGHTS. THE 1ST TIME I THOUGHT IT WAS A BLOWN FUSE AND REALIZED THAT THE HEADLIGHT KNOB WAS TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION. I THOUGHT SOMEONE MUST HAVE SWITCHED IT, BUT AFTER THE 3RD TIME IT HAPPENED OVER A NUMBER OF MONTHS I CALLED THE DEALER WHO SAID THERE WAS NO WAY THAT COULD OCCUR WITHOUT SOMEONE SWITCHING IT BECAUSE THE KNOB HAS TO BE PHYSICALLY TURNED.I WOULD TEND TO AGREE WITH HIM BUT THE KNOB IS LOCATED IN A PLACE WHERE IT WOULD BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO HIT IT WITH YOUR KNEE OR OTHERWISE CHANGE IT WITHOUT KNOWING. MY HUSBAND IS THE ONLY OTHER DRIVER, AND NEITHER OF US CHANGE THE LIGHTS FROM THE AUTO SETTING. I AM ONLY LOOKING TO GET THIS ON RECORD AT THIS POINT, BUT IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE THE DASH LIGHTS UP INSIDE EVEN IF THE LIGHTS ARE OFF OUTSIDE, SO IT'S NOT READILY APPARENT THAT THE HEADLIGHTS AREN'T ON. *TR

THIS IS A FOLLOWUP COMPLAINT TO (ODI NUMBER) 10618847 & (ODI NUMBER) 10620977. TODAY WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE I WAS DRIVING STOPPED ACCELERATING WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND DISPLAYED A SERVICE TRANSMISSION ERROR AND MESSAGE SAYING TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP THIS TIME AS THE ONE I PURCHASED FROM WAS OUT OF RANGE FOR JEEP ROADSIDE ASSIST. THIS IS CLEARLY A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND JEEP HAS NOT BEEN HELPFUL GETTING IT RESOLVED THUS-FAR AS THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IT HAS OCCURRED IN AS MANY MONTHS. *TR

WHILE DRIVING IN LIGHT TO MODERATE TRAFFIC AS WELL AS STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, VEHICLE WOULD ROUTINELY SURGE FORWARD IMMEDIATELY AFTER SLOWING AND OR BREAK WHEN FOOT WAS REMOVED FROM BRAKE PEDAL. CRUISE CONTROL HAD NOT BEEN USED OR ENGAGED AT ANYTIME. *TR
