Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a power liftgate. An electrical short in the power liftgate module may lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off.
A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will relocate the power liftgate module and add a water shield. In addition, dealers will inspect for corrosion and replace the module and electrical connectors, if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner letters were mailed March 1, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 49A. This recall supersedes recalls 15V-393 and 15V-826. Vehicles repaired under the prior recalls will still need to have the new remedy performed.

Power train, driveline, differential unitJun 11, 2020
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a two-speed Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Relative movement in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) between the differential input splines and the transmission output shaft may cause some input spline teeth to wear off, which may eventually cause a loss of engagement between the transmission and the differential inside the PTU. If this occurs, power cannot be transferred between the front wheels and the transmission which results in a loss of drive while the vehicle is in motion and a loss of the Park function while stationary.
A loss of drive can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. A loss of the Park function can cause unintended vehicle rollaway which can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will perform a software update that will maintain vehicle propulsion by engaging rear wheel drive and prevent rolling in Park by activating the electronic parking brake if a failed input spline occurs. This recall began July 14, 2020. Owners may contact FCA USA LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is W47.

Power train, automatic transmissionJun 13, 2019
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.2L engines. In the event that a clutch becomes stuck in the transmission, the transmission software may shift the transmission to neutral.
An unexpected shift to neutral would result in a loss of drive, increasing the risk of crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the transmission software, free of charge. The recall began August 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V69.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

EquipmentDec 21, 2017
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf
If the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.
Chrysler will notify owners instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began February 14, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or Kidde customer service service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee and 2015 Chrysler 200, Jeep Renegade, RAM ProMaster, and 2016 Fiat 500X vehicles equipped with 9-speed automatic transmissions. The transmission sensor clusters may have insufficient crimps in the transmission wire harness, and as a result, the transmission may unexpectedly shift to neutral. On August 29, 2016 Chrysler added the 2016 Fiat 500X vehicles to this recall.
If the vehicle unexpectedly shifts to neutral, there is an increased risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module and the Transmission Control Module and if necessary replace the transaxle range sensor wire harness, free of charge. The recall began on November 7, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S55.

Equipment, electrical, radio/tape deck/cd etc.Jul 23, 2015
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500, 2015 Chrysler 200, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger, 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, and Dodge Durango, and 2013-2015 Dodge Viper vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with radios that have software vulnerabilities that can allow third-party access to certain networked vehicle control systems.
Exploitation of the software vulnerability may result in unauthorized remote modification and control of certain vehicle systems, increasing the risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify and mail affected owners a USB drive that includes a software update that eliminates the vulnerability, free of charge. Optionally, owners may download the update to their own USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on August 25, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R40.

I PARKED MY CAR ON MAIN STREET IN TOWN TO PICK UP MY MAIL. WHEN I GOT READY TO LEAVE MY EMERGENCY PARKING BREAK WAS ON. ( I NEVER PUT E BRAKE ON,BIT DID IT BY ITSELF) I TRIED TO DISENGAGE BUT IT WOULD NOT. I HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED AND IT COST ME $611.28 IN REPAIRS. WE WERE TOLD WATER AND CORROSION WAS FOUND IN ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE MODULE AND CONNECTOR. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS AND HAVE FOUND THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS. WE CALLED JEEP WHO TOLD US THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE E BRAKE BUT MY VIN NUMBER DIDN'T MATCH. OBVIOUSLY IT SHOULD. VERY FRUSTRATED WITH JEEP AT THIS POINT. WATER SHOULD NOT BE GETTING INTO THE MODULE. THAT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFFECT AND SHOULD BE COVERED AS SUCH AND RECALLED.

PURCHASED USED NOVEMBER OF 2017. HAS A LITTLE OVER 55,000 MILES ON IT. HAVE NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO TAKE LONGER THAN IT SHOULD TO SHIFT AND SOMETIMES DOESN'T SHIFT UP AT ALL OR WILL SHIFT DOWN OR EVEN TO NEUTRAL SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. ALSO WILL LOSE POWER AND THEN SOMETIMES USE A LOT OF POWER WHEN NOT NEEDED, CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK OR ACCELERATE OUT OF NOWHERE. HAPPENS VERY OFTEN AND HAS BEEN CONTINUALLY GETTING WORSE SINCE I'VE PURCHASED IT. BUT SEVERELY NOTICED IT ON MY LAST ROAD TRIP ABOUT 6 WEEKS AGO.

APRIL 2016: TWO YEAR OLD 2014 CHEROKEE STEERING CLUSTER DISPLAY WHEN DARK. REMOVING AND REPLACING THE FUSES INITIALLY RESTORED THE DISPLAY. DEALER COULD NOT ANALYZE AS THE DISPLAY WAS WORKING WHEN THEY HAD THE VEHICLE. SOON THEREAFTER THE PROBLEM RECURRED AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHILE THE DISPLAY WAS DARK. THEY RECOVERED SEVERAL GENERAL CODES, DID SOME SOFTWARE REBOOTING AND THE DISPLAY RESTORED. APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS LATER THE ISSUE RECURRED, THE DEALER DID SEVERAL SOFTWARE REBOOTS ON SEVERAL TRIPS BUT THE ISSUE REMAINED. FINALLY THEY DETERMINED THAT THE CLUSTER WAS BAD AND IT WAS REPLACED. FCA REIMBURSED APPROXIMATELY 75% OF THE CLUSTER AND INSTALLATION COST. THE PROBLEM RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, EACH TIME INVOLVING A TRIP TO THE DEALER. FINALLY THEY HAD IT FOR THREE WEEKS, DETERMINED THAT ALL WAS GOOD, AND RETURNED IT TO ME. TWO DAYS LATER THE CLUSTER DISPLAY DIED. I WAS REFERRED TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER WITH ELECTRONICS EXPERTISE WHO ANALYZED THE ISSUE FOR TWO WEEKS, INCLUDING DEPROGRAMMING AND REPROGRAMMING THE COMPLETE SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WENT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER FOR REPROGRAMMING AND WHEN RETURNED TO THE INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER THE BLANK CLUSTER DISPLAY REMAINED AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE ROOT CAUSE. THE SECOND DEALER SUGGESTED THE CLUSTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE INDEPENDENT FOLKS SUGGESTED THE CLUSTER IS GOOD, THERE IS A SHORT SOMEWHERE IN THE SYSTEM OR WIRING, OR A DIFFERENT MODULE. THIS AFFECTS THE SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER, TACHOMETER, ALL ENGINE DISPLAYS, TURN SIGNAL INDICATORS, GAS GAUGE, AND EMERGENCY WARNINGS.

WE HAVE A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STALLING AFTER EACH GAS FILL UP. THE CAR HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR 8-12 MONTHS, BUT LAST FRIDAY AFTER A FILL UP IT NOT ONLY STALLED BUT JOLTED AND THE TRANSMISSION SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS THE D AND R SIGNS BEGAN TO FLASH ON THE DASH AND GEAR SHIFT. I HAVE HEARD FROM A DEALERSHIP THAT THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM IS TO NOT FILL THE TANK UP ALL THE WAY (WHO WANTS TO DO THAT!! ) OR REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK. FROM MY RESEARCH, THE PROBLEM IS THE VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 42,000 MILES AND OF COURSE THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. JEEP NEEDS TO RECALL THIS PROBLEM. IT IS DANGEROUS AND COULD EASILY STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED!!!*DT VIN UNAVAILABLE.*JB
Power train, Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Apr 8, 2019
SINCE WE BOUGHT OUR CAR IT HAS HAD SEVERAL RECALLS AS WELL AS ELECTRICAL, COMPUTER BASED, AND POWER TRAIN ISSUES. NONE OF WHICH WERE EXPLAINABLE. WE WERE SINPLY TOLD TO TAKE IT TO JEEP, PUT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS IN TO FIX IT AND GET IT BACK. WE'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR ABUT 4 YEARS. YESTERDAY, WITHIN A MONTH OF THE LAST OCCURENCE, OUR CAR HAS FROZEN ON US AND WILL NOT START. JEEP HASN'T DONE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. WE'VE KNOWN SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THIS SAME MAKE AND MODEL WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. WE ARE NOT IN A FINANCIAL POSITION TO KEEP PUTTING MONEY INTO A CAR THAT SHOULD LAST US LONGER, OR TO SINPLY JUST TRADE IT IN SINCE WE STILL OWE 10K ON THE CAR. THIS HAS ALSO PUT OUR KIDS SAFETY AT JEOPARDY, HAS CAUSED US LOSS OF WORK DAYS ON TOP OF PUTTING US IN A MORE FINANCIAL BURDEN. THERE NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS. IT IS UNFAIR THAT WE SOENT SO MUCH MONEY ON A CAR THAT HAS MALFUNCTIONED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO BEING BUILT SO POORLY.

AROUND 4:30 PM, AFTER JUST A FEW SECONDS OF LEAVING MY DRIVEWAY, A MESSAGE CAME ON THAT STATED I NEEDED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK BEFORE I COULD SHIFT GEARS AND THEN MY BATTERY LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER, PUT VEHICLE INTO PARK & THEN SHUT IT OFF. RESTARTED IT, BUT STRUGGLED TO START.. ATTEMPTED TO RESTART A THIRD TIME BUT WAS DEAD. TURNED THE KEY TO RUN TO SEE WHAT LIGHTS STAYED ON THE DASHBOARD THE BATTERY WAS STILL ON WHILE THE ENGINE LIGHT DISAPPEARED. AFTER WAITING ABOUT A HALF HOUR, MY FATHER IN LAW WAS ABLE TO GIVE ME A JUMP. CAR STARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE GET THE BATTERY REPLACED. HOWEVER I READ LAST NIGHT SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, WITH THE BATTERY NOT BEING THE ISSUE SO MY HUSBAND WILL BE GETTING THE PREVIOUS BATTERY WE HAD, TESTED THIS WEEKEND.
Power train, Electrical system, Engine, Apr 3, 2019
THE CAR WILL BEGIN TO HESITATE AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION WILL GO INTO A NEUTRAL STATE, BUT THE LIGHTS WILL NOT SHOW THAT IT IS IN NEUTRAL. THE CAR WILL ROLL FORWARD OR BACKWARD DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU ARE. YOU CANNOT SHIFT, WHEN YOU DO TRY TO SHIFT, THE CAR WILL JOLT LIKE THE ENGINE IS GOING TO FALL OUT OF THE CAR. TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND ON, SEVERAL TIMES, WHILE WAITING EACH TIME CLEARS THE PROBLEM. JEEP CAN NOT REPRODUCE THIS IT SO THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. WILL GET A MESSAGE ON DASH STATING TO SERVICE TRASMISSION AND PARKING BREAK. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5 TIMES THAT I HAVE DOCUMENTED BY PICTURES AND VIDEO ON MY PHONE HOWEVER, HAS HAPPENED A LOT MORE. THIS CAR CONTINUES TO TURN OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING! TODAY IT TURNED OFF ON ME ON AN INTERSECTION! THE CAR JERKED, STARTED TO SHAKE & THEN MANY LIGHTS CAME ON. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THE BATTERY LIGHT, THE BRAKE LIGHT, MANY MORE (PLEASE SEE PICTURE ATTACHED) I BOUGHT THE CAR AT CARMAX. HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE IN NOVEMBER OF 2018, GOT THE CAR SERVICED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. NOW, 4 MONTHS LATER THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED. IN NOVEMBER, THEY INFORMED ME THE ISSUE WAS THE CAR FUEL INJECTOR & A BAD SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION. TODAY'S ISSUES IS STILL UNKNOWN, AS THE CAR HAS TO BE SENT OFF FOR EVALUATION. BUT TODAY WAS A VERY SCARY SITUATION FOR ME! I WOULD HATE THIS TO HAPPEN TO ANYONE WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR!

WE HAVE FLAT TOWED OUR JEEP ACCORDING TO MANUAL SINCE WE PURCHASED IN 2014. ON A FEW OCCASIONS WE HAD INTERMITTENT WOBBLING OF THE MOTORHOME WHICH WE THOUGHT WAS DUE TO WATER IN THE MOTORHOME'S HOLDING TANKS. ON RECENT TRIP WE HAD TRAVELED LESS THAN TEN MILES ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN OUR JEEP TOW CAR BEGAN TO SWERVE VIOLENTLY FROM SIDE TO SIDE. WE WERE DRIVING STRAIGHT BETWEEN 55-60 MPH WITH NO ON-BOARD WATER. A DRIVER BEHIND US STOPPED AND SAID THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH OUR JEEP SINCE IT WAS SWERVING VIOLENTLY FROM SIDE TO SIDE, NOT THE MOTORHOME. WE INSPECTED EVERYTHING AND THERE WERE NO FLAT TIRES AND CONTINUED SLOWLY. THE EVENT OCCURRED REPEATEDLY AFTER WE CROSSED A BRIDGE OR PATCH OF ROUGH HIGHWAY. WE EVENTUALLY UNHITCHED THE JEEP AND MY WIFE FOLLOWED BEHIND THE MOTORHOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. MY WIFE LATER LEARNED THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA THAT MOPAR ISSUED A WIRING HARNESS TO REPAIR THE LACK OF POWER TO THE STEERING SYSTEM WHEN THE JEEP IS FLAT TOWED. WE WERE NEVER WARNED OF THIS ISSUE BY MOPAR AND COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF WE WERE TOWING WITH A SMALLER MOTORHOME. WE CALLED MOPAR AND THEY CONFIRMED A REPAIR KIT WAS AVAILABLE BUT THAT IT MAY VOID OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY. WE PURCHASED THE WIRING HARNESS BUT HAVE NOT SCHEDULED THE REPAIR. ALSO, WE WERE TOLD WE MUST PAY OUR $100 DEDUCTIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ALL JEEP OWNERS THAT ARE UNKNOWINGLY TOWING A JEEP THAT COULD GO OUT-OF-CONTROL AT ANY MOMENT. PLEASE RESPOND ON ACTIONS BEING TAKEN TO WARN OTHER OWNERS AND MAKE MOPAR ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR DEFECTIVE DESIGN. I AM AN ENGINEER BY TRADE AND DESIGN PROCESSES THAT PREVENT SAFETY AND QUALITY ISSUES. MOPAR IS NOT BEING TRANSPARENT WITH THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM LURKING UNDER THE HOOD. I MAY BE REACHED AT [XXX] FOR MORE INFORMATION OR [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TT

THE CAR HAS JERKED SINCE I BOUGHT IT TWO YEARS AGO AND FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS NOW IT HAS BEEN PRESENTING A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. THE CAR STARTS TO FLASH WITH 'SERVICE TRANSMISSION ' AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON - AFTER THAT THE CAR STARTS TO GET STIFF AND AS SOON AS I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR TURNS OFF THE CAR TURNED OFF THIS HAPPEND TWICE AND I TOOK IT INTO THE LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME ON ME AT STOP LIGHTS BOTH TIMES - I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON AFTER ABOUT 5 MINS AND CONTINUE DRIVING THAT IT WAS NOT A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND FIXED THE RECALLS AND I WAS ON MY WAY - THEN THE CAR STARTED TO DO THIS AGAIN IT STOPPED ON MY THREE TIMES IN ONE WEEK ALONE SAYING SERVICE TRANSMISSION.

WHILE FILLING THE FUEL TANK THE PUMP AT THE STATION KEPT SHUTTING OFF. I CHANGED PUMPS AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. I WAS NOT ABLE TO PLACE MORE THAN 3 GALLONS OF FUEL IN THE CAR OVER 10 MINUTES. I CHANGED GAS STATIONS AND HAVE CONTINUED TO HAVE THE ISSUE. THE CAR CANNOT BE FILLED. IT HAS BEEN TO 3 DEALERS AND IS STILL NOT REPAIRED. THE FUEL IN THE FILLER TUBE IS BACKING UP AND NOT ALLOWING GAS TO GET SMOOTHLY INTO THE TANK. CURRENTLY THEY CANNOT FIX THE ISSUE ALTHOUGH IT IS A REGISTERED KNOWN ISSUE AND DOES NOT AFFECT ALL CARS OF THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR THERE ARE PLENTY OF COMPLAINTS AND JEEP IS NOT FIXING THE CARS WITHOUT CONSIDERABLE EXPENSE TO MOST OWNERS.

VEHICLES NINE SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DOES NOT GO TO FIRST GEAR UPON MAKING A COMPLETE STOP. THE TRANSMISSION GOES AUTOMATICALLY TO THIRD GEAR OR SECOND GEAR. THIS RESULTS IN THE TRANSMISSION STARTING FROM A STOP FROM THIRD GEAR (UNLESS MANUALLY DOWNSHIFTED) REDUCING POWER AND CAN RESULT IN A SLOW TAKE-OFF, INCREASING RISK OF A COLLISION OR THE VEHICLE ROLLING BACK INTO VEHICLES BEHIND THE CAR. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS BECAUSE OF THIS. NINTH GEAR NEVER ENGAGES, THIS HAS TO RESULT IN LOWERED FUEL ECONOMY AND REDUCED ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION LIFE AS DOES STARTING FROM THIRD GEAR. I BELIEVE THE TRANSMISSION TO BE DEFECTIVE AND HAVE READ OF NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS OF THESE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE HAS RECEIVED RE-PROGRAMMING ON ALL RECALLS AND NOW JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE STATES THIS IS "NORMAL" AND "NO DEFECT" THUS, NO REPAIR NECESSARY AND NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. VEHICLE WAS ADVERTISED AND SOLD TO ME AS A "NINE SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION" IN EFFECT, JEEP DECEIVED CUSTOMERS SELLING THEM AN EIGHT SPEED SEMI-AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. EMAIL CHAIN ATTACHED.

LAST WEEK IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT NOW THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE CONNECTOR AND ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE MODULE BOTH NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1500 PLUS. DOING A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET REVEALS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEP CHEROKEES. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS THIS CAN HAPPEN ANYTIME AND IT IS UNSAFE. TO DRIVE. LOOKING ON THE JEEP WEBSITE THEY HAVE ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT COVERS THE EXACT ISSUE - ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE MODULE CONNECTOR WATER INTRUSION. THE PROBLEM THAT THEY CLAIM IS DUE TO WATER DAMAGE AND IT IS IN A SPOT WHERE I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE ANY WATER CAN GET IN.*DT *TP

I WAS DRIVING AROUND 9:30PM ON WEDNESDAY FROM CLASS BACK HOME (12-15 MIN DRIVE) ON A BUSY HIGHWAY (GA 400). I HEAR A DING AND LOOKED DOWN AND NOTICED THAT MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE FROM 65 MPH, I WAS UNABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR STAYED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE SERVICED AND THAT THERE WAS ALSO AN ISSUE WITH THE PARK SHIFT. THE D LIGHT ON THE GEAR SHIFT ALSO BEGAN TO BLINK; THE VEHICLEE CASE TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE LANE ON THE HIGHWAY, I HAD TO CALL THE POLICE TO COME AND BLOCK THE HIGHWAY AND HAVE SOMEONE MOVE THE VEHICLE. WHEN WE ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AGAIN IT BEGAN TO MOVE BACKWARDS THIS TIME. THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT IN WHICH MY JEEP BEGAN TO DECELERATE, THE FIRST TIME WAS A FEW MONTHS AGO LAST YEAR (OCT/NOV), THE CAR DID THE SAME THING ON A BUSY ROAD WHERE IT BEGAN TO DECELERATE AND WOULDN'T PICK UP ANY SPEED WHATSOEVER WHEN GASSED. ONCE I TRIED TO TURN IT BACK ON AND DRIVE THE VECHICLE IT BEGAN TO MOVE BACKWARDS IN DRIVE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO KEEP AND THEY SAID THE ISSUE WAS BATTERY RELATED AND 'FIXED' IT, I PICKED IT UP A FEW DAYS LATER AND THE CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE THE SAME DAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO GET IT TOWED BACK TO JEEP; I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS NO ISSUE AND IT SEEMED THAT THEY MISSED A STEP UPON FIXING THE BATTERY. I INQUIRED WHETHER THIS IS PART OF THE ISSUES PEOPLE FACED WHEN IT WAS RECALLED IN 2014/2015 AND WAS TOLD NO. I ASKED IF THEY'RE SURE IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY INSISTED THAT IT WAS.

I AM THE OWNER OF A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. IN THE TWO YEARS SINCE I'VE OWNED MY CAR, I'VE EXPERIENCED 30+ INSTANCES IN WHICH MY CAR STOPS WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF OPERATION. IT'S HAPPENED WHILE I'VE BEEN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS, AND JUST ABOUT EVERY OTHER TYPE OF ROAD POSSIBLE. IT USUALLY OCCURS AFTER I MAKE A TURN OR COME TO A HARD STOP. THE CAR WILL IMMEDIATELY, AND COMPLETELY RANDOMLY, COME TO A STOP. THE WHEEL WILL NO LONGER WORK, NOR WILL THE ENGINE. IT COMES WITH NO WARNING. I WILL THEN HAVE TO TURN MY CAR ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE I CAN GET IT IN MOTION AGAIN. I'VE TAKEN IT TO MULTIPLE MECHANICS AND THE ONLY SOLUTION SEEMS TO BE TO GET AN OIL CHANGE, THOUGH I AM NOT QUITE DUE FOR ONE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. AFTER RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I'VE FOUND THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AMONGST JEEP OWNERS AND THE CAR IS EATING THROUGH AN ABNORMAL AMOUNT OF OIL. JEEP IS WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX IT. THE JEEP DEALERS I'VE TAKEN MY CAR TO DON'T GIVE ANY ALTERNATIVES TO FIXING THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED OR SEVERELY INJURED AS A RESULT OF THIS.
