Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a power liftgate. An electrical short in the power liftgate module may lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off.
A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will relocate the power liftgate module and add a water shield. In addition, dealers will inspect for corrosion and replace the module and electrical connectors, if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner letters were mailed March 1, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 49A. This recall supersedes recalls 15V-393 and 15V-826. Vehicles repaired under the prior recalls will still need to have the new remedy performed.

Power train, driveline, differential unitJun 11, 2020
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a two-speed Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Relative movement in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) between the differential input splines and the transmission output shaft may cause some input spline teeth to wear off, which may eventually cause a loss of engagement between the transmission and the differential inside the PTU. If this occurs, power cannot be transferred between the front wheels and the transmission which results in a loss of drive while the vehicle is in motion and a loss of the Park function while stationary.
A loss of drive can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. A loss of the Park function can cause unintended vehicle rollaway which can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will perform a software update that will maintain vehicle propulsion by engaging rear wheel drive and prevent rolling in Park by activating the electronic parking brake if a failed input spline occurs. This recall began July 14, 2020. Owners may contact FCA USA LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is W47.

Power train, automatic transmissionJun 13, 2019
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.2L engines. In the event that a clutch becomes stuck in the transmission, the transmission software may shift the transmission to neutral.
An unexpected shift to neutral would result in a loss of drive, increasing the risk of crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the transmission software, free of charge. The recall began August 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V69.

Electrical system, wiringMay 17, 2018
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf
If the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.
Chrysler will notify owners instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began February 14, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or Kidde customer service service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. The transmission sensor clusters may have insufficient crimps in the transmission wire harness, and as a result, the transmission may unexpectedly shift to neutral. On August 29, 2016 Chrysler added the 2016 Fiat 500X vehicles to this recall.
If the vehicle unexpectedly shifts to neutral, there is an increased risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module and the Transmission Control Module and if necessary replace the transaxle range sensor wire harness, free of charge. The recall began on November 7, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S55.

I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE THREE YEARS AGO. THE TRANSMISSION STARTS JERKING, SHIFTING ROUGHLY, BODY SHAKING AT ABOUT 20,000 MILES, AND EVENTUALLY DIED WHEN DRIVING ON THE ROAD IN NOVEMBER 2016. MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE STUCK ON THE ROAD IN FEAR. SENT TO THE DEALER SHOP THE NEXT DAY, WAS TOLD THERE IS NO AVAILABLE SLOT AND I HAVE TO DRIVE IT BACK TO HOME. THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED AGAIN ON THE ROAD. THE NEXT WEEK, I SENT THE CAR IN AND DEALER PERFORMED THE RECALL. HOWEVER, THERE IS NO SOLVING, STILL JERKING. SENT THE CAR REPAIR FOR ANOTHER THREE TIMES FROM DECEMBER 2016, AND THEN ONCE AGAIN IN FEBRUARY 2017. THEY TOLD ME SOMEONE RE-PROGRAMED THE TRANSMISSION, AND IT DID BECOME A LITTLE BIT BETTER AT THE BEGINNING, BUT EVENTUALLY JERKING AND SHAKING AGAIN. LAST SATURDAY, APRIL 22, 2017, THE TRANSMISSION DIED AGAIN WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY SON OUT, LEAVING US IN FRONT OF AN INTERSECTION AND THE CAR BEHIND ALMOST HIT US. MY SON WAS SO SCARED AND BEGGING ME TO GET RID OF THIS CAR. I DECIDE TO ASK A LEMON LAW ATTORNEY FOR HELP.

'FORWARD DETECTION LIMITED' ; AUTO CRUISE CONTROL ON WHILE VEHICLE MOVING 55 MPH IN TRAFFIC. FORWARD DETECTION LIMITED WARNING LIT UP ON DASH SCREEN THEN WENT OUT
Power train, Electrical system, Engine, Apr 13, 2017
"SERVICE TRANSMISSION WARNING AND CHECK ENGINE": VEHICLE MOVING UPHILL, AUTO TRANSMISSION SHIFTS TO LOWER GEAR; TRANSMISSION BEGINS TO SLIP AND ABILITY TO MAINTAIN SPEED DROPS; HAPPENED IN MIDDLE LANE OF INTERSTATE; MANAGED TO EXIT INTERSTATE AND PARK; VERY LITTLE POWER TO MOVE VEHICLE; SAFELY PARKED AND TURNED OFF ENGINE. WAITED 2 - 4 MINUTES; RESTARTED ENGINE; SERVICE TRANSMISSION WARNING OFF; CHECK ENGINE "ON". VEHICLE OPERATED NORMAL; CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF LATER; HAD LOOSENED GAS CAP AND RETIGHTENED TO SEE IF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD GO OUT - IT DIDN'T HAVE AN IMMEDIATE EFFECT ON THE LIGHT. HAD TO MANEUVER BEHIND 18 WHEELER AND CRAWL SPEED UP THE EXIT RAMP. ENDED UP CROSS WAYS IN A SIDE ROAD FOR A FEW MINUTES WHILE THE TRANSMISSION 'FEATHERED' VEHICLE TO SAFE SPOT. NO COLLISION THIS TIME. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SHOP FOR SIMILAR COMPLAINT ONE MONTH EARLIER.AND MORE TIMES PREVIOUSLY
Power train, Apr 11, 2017
WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE SHIFTING OF THE TRANSMISSION SINCE WE LEASED THE VEHICLE. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS WHEN YOU ARE AT A STOP AND GO TO ACCELERATE - IT CAN TAKE A SECOND OR SO DELAY AND THEN IT WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN ENGAGE WITH A JERK. HAVE HAD IT IN SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION - THE MOST RECENT BEING A LIST OF "UPDATES" ON 3/26/17 - STILL HAVE ISSUES. LOVE THE VEHICLE AND WOULD PURCHASE IT AT THE END OF OUR LEASE IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE. DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY THE $395 END OF LEASE "DISPOSAL" FEE SINCE I WOULD BE PURCHASING IT IF IT DIDN'T HAVE THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE.
Power train, Vehicle speed control, Engine, Apr 8, 2017
IF YOU SLOW DOWN THEN TRY TO SPEED UP THE VEHICLE HESITANTS AT SOME POINT IT BANGS INTO GEAR THEN TAKES OFF.I ALMOST WAS IN AN ACCIDENT TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC FROM A RAMP ONTO A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL THE VEHICLE DID NOT SPEED UP IT WAS LIKE IT WAS STUCK IN A LOW GEAR AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE THIS CAUSED THE PERSON BEHIND ME TO SWERVE AROUND ME SO HE COULD GET AHEAD OF THE SPEEDING TRAFFIC THEN MY VEHICLE HAD A LOUD BANG AS IT FINALLY WENT INTO GEAR AND TOOK OFF LIKE A BULLET. SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME. SO YIELDING IN THIS VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I KNOW THIS HAPPENS SO I AM VERY CAUTOUS WHEN DRIVING AS THIS COULD CAUSE A MAJOR INCIDENT TO HAPPEN AND IT IS SCARY. I HAD SEVERAL RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE AND HAD THEM ALL FIXED.TOOK THIS TO BE FIXED, BUT THEY CAN FIX IT. THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT I WAS TELLING THEM AS THEY WERE GETTING COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS. STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND SLOW AND GO TRAFFIC IS EVERYDAY LIFE THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO MYSELF AND OTHERS.
Power train, Apr 6, 2017
THERE IS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS VEHICLE. AT TIMES, WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR FROM A STOP, THE ENGINE WILL REV BUT THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE FOR A SECOND OR SO. WHEN IT FINALLY DOES ENGAGE, THE TIRES SCREECH AND THEN THE CAR GOES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS - ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN OR OTHER TIMES WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. MANY COMPLAINTS SHOWN ON THIS WEBSITE: HTTP://WWW. CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/JEEP/CHEROKEE/2014/TRANSMISSION/SHIFTING_ROUGHLY.SHTML JEEP REPAIR SAYS THAT THEY CAN'T RECREATE CIRCUMSTANCES AND CHRYSLER HAS NO SOLUTION FOR THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS, THIS IS A DANGEROUS VEHICLE.
Power train, Mar 31, 2017
VEHICLE HESITATES SHIFTING INTO 1ST GEAR CAUSING THE RPM'S TO RISE THEN SLAMMING INTO GEAR CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO DO A BURNOUT. DANGEROUS WHEN CROSSING TRAFFIC. NEVER KNOW WHEN VEHICLE WILL ENGAGE AND GO.
Power train, Mar 29, 2017
TRANSMISSION IS VERY JERKY. I'M AFRAID OF THIS VEHICLE. IT SHIFTS GREAT ONE TIME AND THEN DOESN'T SHIFT THE NEXT TIME. SOMETIMES VERY SLUGGISH, LIKE I'M IN NEUTRAL FOR A FEW SECONDS.T
Power train, Mar 29, 2017
THE TRANSMISSION IS VERY JERKY. THE RPM'S INCREASE WHEN FOOT IS NOT ON GAS PEDAL. FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD WHEN STOPPED.
Power train, Electrical system, Engine, Mar 28, 2017
SOMETHING STRANGE STARTED HAPPENING, IT SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL WHILE I WAS TRYING TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT, ALMOST WENT THROUGH. BRAKES LOCKED LATER HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER THEY KEPT A FEW DAYS, SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. FROM DAY ONE I WAS TOLD IT WAS A 9 SPEED SHIFT THING AND I FELT EVERY SINGLE ONE. THEY TOLD ME THAT WAS NORMAL. SO ME UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE SITUATION, BUT TRUST THE DEALER, KEPT DRIVING THIS CAR, THAT I FELT UNSAFE IN EVERY SECOND OF EVERY DAY. EACH DAY I PRAYED THAT IT DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. TILL THIS DAY, IT STILL SHIFTS FROM EACH GEAR WITH A JERK, I NOTICE THE PERSONS HEADS IN MY CAR JERK, EVERY TIME I GO FROM A STOP TO TRY TO ACCELERATE. IT HAS HAD SUCH A STRONG KICK WHEN IT SHIFTS GEARS THAT I FELT LIKE I WAS GETTING HIT IN THE REAR BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS CONTINUED FOR A WHILE AND THEN THE CAR BEGAN TO START ODDLY, AND AS I SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE OR PARK TO DRIVE THE CAR LITERALLY FELT AS IF THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, WHAT HAVE YOU WAS GOING TO FALL OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. EACH TIME I SHIFTED TO PARK TO REVERSE IT WOULD JOLT. I THEN TRIED TO GO IN REVERSE AND THE CAR WAS SOUNDING AND FEELING SO SCARY THAT I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER YET AGAIN. I AT THIS TIME, WAS OVER MY MILES AND DUE TO ME LEASING THE WARRANTY WAS DONE, SO THE DEALER WOULD NOT LOOK AT IT FREE, LUCKILY THERE WAS A RECALL ON SENSOR WIRE HARNESS, POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, SO THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD FIX THE RECALL ONLY. THE RECALL WAS DONE JANUARY 17, 2017. THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR 6 DAYS. AFTER THEY FIXED THE RECALL, THE CAR WORKED BETTER, THE GEAR SHIFTS HAVE NEVER CHANGED. TODAY IS MARCH 28, 2017 AND THE CAR BEGAN ACTING THE SAME WAY PRIOR TO THE RECALLS ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO, AGAIN I JUST PRAY THAT IT WILL JUST START. TODAY IT ALMOST DID NOT START AND THE SHIFT TO REVERSE DREADFUL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE "SERVICE AIR BAG" MESSAGE ILLUMINATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS OF THE AIR BAG AND THE COMPUTER CONSOLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
Electrical system, Vehicle speed control, Engine, Mar 28, 2017
AFTER FIXING THE TRANSMISSION RECALL. MY TRANSMISSION HAS ONCE AGAIN STARTED ACTING UP. JEEP REFUSES TO SWITCH GEARS. MUST SERVICE VEHICLE AGAIN. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE, IT SEEMS, WITH MULTIPLE OWNERS. VEHICLE ITSELF NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. VEHICLE IN MOTION. ON HIGHWAY. (BOTH TIMES)
Vehicle speed control, Engine, Mar 28, 2017
I ATTEMPTED TO STOP FOR A STOP LIGHT ON A 4 LANE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. IT KEPT ACCELERATING AS I PRESSED THE BRAKE. I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE TACHOMETER WAS BETWEEN 6000 TO 7000 RPM. I HIT THE ACCELERATOR A FEW TIMES AND IT DROPPED TO NORMAL RPM'S. THE STOP LIGHT CHANGED TO GREEN AND I PUT THE SHIFTER FROM THE NEUTRAL POSITION TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS.
Engine, Visibility/wiper, Mar 27, 2017
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED AND TURNED OFF. THE WIPERS WOULD NOT RESTART EVEN WHEN THE WIPER SWITCH WAS TURNED ON. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,300. THE CONTACT HAS STATED BY DISCONECTING THE BATTERY THE WIPERS TURN OFF AND THE CONNECTING THE BATTERY AGAIN FIXES IT TEMPORARILY. *AS THE CONSUMER STATED THE WIPERS WOULD START WHILE THEY WERE TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS VERY SLUGGISH AS IF IT WERE GOING TO DIE WHILE BEING DRIVEN. *JS

3-25-17 - TOMS RIVER, NJ VT - FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM I PURCHASED A JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE FROM LESTER GLENN IN TOMS RIVER I HAVE HAD CONSTANT FUELLING ISSUES FOR APX 2 WEEKS NOW. IT STARTED SUDDENLY THE PUMP CLICKS OFF AFTER LESS THE A GALLON HAS BEEN PUMPED LIKE IT IS FULL AND CONTINUES TO CLICK OFF WHILE TRYING TO FULL THE TANK. IT WOULD ALSO SOME TIMES "BURP UP" BEFORE IT WOULD SHUT OFF SPILLING FUEL ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. TAKING 15-20 MINUTES TO FILL THE TANK. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT SEVERAL DIFFERENCE GAS STATIONS. I WENT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THIS CHECKED, THEY TOLD ME THE FUEL TANK NEED REPLACED WHICH COST $800.00 PLUS LABOR AND TAXES. THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO THE MILES ON MY CAR (56000). THIS SEEMS TO BE SAFETY ISSUE, AS THE FUEL SPILLS CAUSING BOTH A FIRE AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM. THIS ALSO SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURES DEFECT AS THERE HAS NOT ANY DAMAGE OR MODIFICATIONS TO THE VEHICLE OR FUEL TANK, THE FUEL TANK IS NOT A WEARABLE PARTS AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY JEEP EVEN THOUGH I AN OVER THE MILES.

VEHICLE MAKES A LOUD WHISTLING NOISE WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTS UP, IS IDLE, AND WHEN IT ACCELERATES VEHICLE ALSO JERKS WHEN IT SHIFTS GEARS.
Power train, Service brakes, Mar 20, 2017
TWO ISSUES WITH MY CAR, FIRST THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH. THE CAR MESSAGED "SERVICE TRANSMISSION IMMEDIATELY" AND BEGAN TO DECELERATE. I HAD NO CONTROL OF THIS PROCESS. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND LUCKILY I MADE IT OFF THE ROAD. SECONDLY AND INDEPENDENTLY THE BRAKES MAKE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHEN THE ABS IS ENGAGED. THE DEALER WAS PERPLEXED BY BOTH ISSUES. CANNOT TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG AND ASSURES ME MY CAR IS ACTING NORMALLY.
Power train, Other or unspecified, Mar 20, 2017
WHILE DRIVING IN THE PAST WEEK AND A HALF THE VEHICLE HAS TURNED OFF ON ME 5 TIMES. THE FIRST 3 TIMES I WAS DRIVING ON THE STREET LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE 2 OF THE TIMES, NOT SO LUCKY THE OTHER AS I WAS STUCK IN A ROUNDABOUT. THE LAST TWO TIMES OCCURRED BACK TO BACK ON SUNDAY MARCH 19, 2017 ONCE I PULLED OUT OF MY PARKING SPOT. I HAVE PHOTOS OF WHAT HAPPENS. MONDAY MARCH 21, 2017 THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. I HAVE NOT TRIED TO DRIVE IT YET, BUT I WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP HERE IN ELK GROVE, CA. I TRIED TO TAKE THE PICTURES AS SOON AS IT HAPPENED. VEHICLE DID NOT TURN OFF THE DAY OF THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT. ALSO ON FRIDAY MARCH 18, 2017 I WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE, MY KEY FOB DID NOT WORK AND I WAS UNABLE TO GET INTO THE CAR. IT FINALLY UNLOCKED AN HOUR AFTER I WAS STUCK OUTSIDE OF MY GYM AT 1AM IN THE MORNING.

BROUGHT AT IN FOR JEEP SERVICE 3 TIMES AS IT SHAKES VIOLENTLY, DASHBOARD ENGINE & TRANSMISSION IDIOT LIGHTS TURN ON, CAR STALLS. THE 1ST AND 2ND TIME JEEP CLAIMED IT WAS DUE TO RECALLS NOW THEY BLAME US FOR OVERFILLING TANK. WE ARE ADAMANT THAT WE DID NOT OVERFILL. WHEN GAS TANK WAS FILLED THE PUMP NOZZLE WAS REMOVED WHEN IT CLICKED AND STOPPED. NOW WE ARE TOLD WE NEED A FUEL PUMP MODULE, EMISSION MONITOR, CARBON CANISTER & CELLULOIDS AT OUR EXPENSE OF $1200+. CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY. THIS HAPPENED WHEN SLOWING DOWN AT A LIGHT THE 1ST TIME ON A CITY STREET, PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE THE 2ND TIME AND PULLING INTO DRIVEWAY 3RD TIME. I CONTEND THAT IF THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY PERHAPS THIS CREATED A SITUATION THAT WOULD NOT ALLOW THE PROPER VACUUM TO BUILD TO LET THE GAS STATION PUMP KNOW THE TANK WAS FULL. NO GAS SPILLED OUT AT THE PUMP. WE CANNOT HAVE A VEHICLE THAT CANNOT BE FILLED OR THAT WE CAN'T TRUST IS BEING READ CORRECTLY BY THE GAS PUMPS. CALL BACKS FROM CUSTOMER CARE ARE NEARLY NON-EXISTENT. CAR HAS BEEN IN THE JEEP SHOP SINCE FEBRUARY 28TH 2017

MY JEEP STALLS WITHOUT WARNING WHILE IN MOTION. CHRYSLER WAS NOTIFIED AS WELL AS MY DEALER. THEY BOTH INDICATE THAT I NEED TO ADD OIL BETWEEN 750 TO 2000 MILES TO PREVENT A STALL. THE STALL IS A "SAFETY" FEATURE THAT PREVENTS THE MOTOR FROM SEIZING ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER. OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS WERE COMPLETED AT 500 MILES WITH NO NEGATIVE DATA. THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS TO INCLUDE AN OIL PRESSURE WARNING. EVERY 750 MILES SEEMS EXCESSIVE AND I WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT IF THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING AT LOW OIL PRESSURE, THAT A WARNING LIGHT WOULD INDICATE THAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO STALL. CHRYSLER HAS CLOSED MY COMPLAINT WITH NO FURTHER ACTION AND INDICATED IT WAS THE OWNER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO MONITOR EVERY 750 MILES. EACH STALL WAS WHILE IN MOTION AND ON A BUSY ROAD. THE DATE PROVIDED IS APPROXIMATE. STALLS HAVE HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND WE REPLENISH SYNTHETIC OIL WITH SIGNIFICANT REGULARITY.
Fuel/propulsion system, Mar 11, 2017
WHILE DRIVING MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE ON A CITY STREET, THE JEEP WOULD RANDOMLY LOSE POWER AND STOP MOVING. I WOULD BE ACCELERATING AFTER BEING AT A STOP LIGHT AND THE JEEP WOULD LOSE POWER AND STOP MOVING. ALSO, I WOULD BE TURNING THE CORNER AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AND THE JEEP WOULD LOSE POWER AND STOP MOVING. WHEN THIS OCCURRED, I WOULD PLACE THE JEEP INTO PARK AND TURN IT OFF. I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT A MINIMUM OF 5 MINUTES BEFORE IT WOULD RESTART. ONCE IT RESTARTED, I WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE. I TOOK THE JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES BEFORE THEY WERE ABLE TO FIND A PROBABLE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THIS WAS ONLY AFTER I RE-CREATED THE PROBLEM FOR THEM SINCE THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE IT. THEY THOUGHT THAT THE PROBLEM WAS POSSIBLY A FAILED FUEL PUMP MODULE AND THE CHARCOAL CANISTER SATURATED AND CONTAMINATED WITH RAW FUEL AS A RESULT OF FAULTY FUEL PUMP MODULE.
Power train, Mar 11, 2017
WHEN VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE BUT AT A STOPPED MOTION WITH FOOT ON BREAK THE CAR WOULD WANT TO JUMP FORWARD. ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WOULD LOSE POWER THEN SLIP BACK INTO GEAR WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. FINALLY THE CAR SENT ERROR MESSAGE WHILE DRIVING AND WOULD NOT BE 4X4 CAPABLE WOULD ONLY SHIFT TO CERTAIN GEARS AND THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. I JUST HAD THE CAR SERVICED RECENTLY AND AT THAT TIME THE DEALERSHIP DID A COMPUTER UPGRADE ON THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM. THIS IS THE SECOND ISSUE TO OCCUR LIKE THIS WITH THE TRANSMISSION WITH THE VEHICLE SINCE PURCHASED IN 2014.

THE TRANSMISSION RANDOMLY SLIPS. FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY, THE RPMS ARE AT 5000 AND THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE. SUDDENLY THERE IS A LOUD BANG AND THE TIRES WILL CHIRP AND THE CAR TAKES OFF. THE DEALER SCANS THE COMPUTERS AND FINDS NO ERROR CODES. HOW CAN THAT POSSIBLY BE WITH A VIOLENT OCCURRENCE LIKE THIS????? I THINK FCA HAS DOCTORED THE SOFTWARE SO THAT IT WON'T SHOW TRANSMISSION ERROR CODES. WITH ALL THE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS PROBLEM WHY AREN'T YOU INVESTIGATING THIS? DO PEOPLE HAVE TO START DYING BEFORE YOU GET OFF YOUR ASSES AND DO SOMETHING?

THE TRANSMISSION STALLS AND DEAD STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THIS HAS THE DRIVE II TRANSMISSION. THERE HAS NOW BEEN 3 TRANSMISSIONS IN THIS CAR AND WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE BEING BEHIND THE WHEEL OF A CAR THAT DEAD STOPS. WE ARE VERY FORTUNATE TO NOT HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A SEVERE CRASH. THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER RECALLS ALSO ON THIS CAR. THOSE HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. THESE HAVE ALL BEEN SINCE PURCHASE DATE OF JULY 2014.
