Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a power liftgate. An electrical short in the power liftgate module may lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off.
A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will relocate the power liftgate module and add a water shield. In addition, dealers will inspect for corrosion and replace the module and electrical connectors, if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner letters were mailed March 1, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 49A. This recall supersedes recalls 15V-393 and 15V-826. Vehicles repaired under the prior recalls will still need to have the new remedy performed.

Power train, driveline, differential unitJun 11, 2020
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a two-speed Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Relative movement in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) between the differential input splines and the transmission output shaft may cause some input spline teeth to wear off, which may eventually cause a loss of engagement between the transmission and the differential inside the PTU. If this occurs, power cannot be transferred between the front wheels and the transmission which results in a loss of drive while the vehicle is in motion and a loss of the Park function while stationary.
A loss of drive can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. A loss of the Park function can cause unintended vehicle rollaway which can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will perform a software update that will maintain vehicle propulsion by engaging rear wheel drive and prevent rolling in Park by activating the electronic parking brake if a failed input spline occurs. This recall began July 14, 2020. Owners may contact FCA USA LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is W47.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf
If the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokee vehicles manufactured July 29, 2013, to February 5, 2016. The seat fasteners on the first or second row seats may not have been tightened to the proper torque specification.
Loose fasteners may allow the seats to move, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupants in the event of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the seats or seat sets, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during September 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall S63.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee and 2015 Chrysler 200, Jeep Renegade, RAM ProMaster, and 2016 Fiat 500X vehicles equipped with 9-speed automatic transmissions. The transmission sensor clusters may have insufficient crimps in the transmission wire harness, and as a result, the transmission may unexpectedly shift to neutral. On August 29, 2016 Chrysler added the 2016 Fiat 500X vehicles to this recall.
If the vehicle unexpectedly shifts to neutral, there is an increased risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module and the Transmission Control Module and if necessary replace the transaxle range sensor wire harness, free of charge. The recall began on November 7, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S55.

The affected vehicles are equipped with radios that have software vulnerabilities that can allow third-party access to certain networked vehicle control systems.
Exploitation of the software vulnerability may result in unauthorized remote modification and control of certain vehicle systems, increasing the risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify and mail affected owners a USB drive that includes a software update that eliminates the vulnerability, free of charge. Optionally, owners may download the update to their own USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on August 25, 2015. MY VEHICLE'S EMERGENCY BRAKE RELEASE CONTINUES TO REMAIN IN THE ON POSITION, PREVENTING ME FROM DRIVING MY CAR FROM TIME TO TIME, KILLING MY BATTERY POWER MULTIPLE TIMES-I HAVE REPLACED MY BATTERY TWICE IN THE LAST YEAR. I HAD THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IN WHITE BEAR MN CHARGE ME $185 FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND THE TELL ME I HAVE TO FULLY REPLACE THE BRAKES CONTROL BOX WITH A COST OF MORE THAN $800 AND MENTIONED THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THIS DUE TO THE TIME FRAME, BUT MY CONCERN HAS BEEN EXPRESSED SINCE I'VE OWN THE CAR IN 2015 AND ONLY HAVE 65,000 CURRENTLY ON THE CAR THAT I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE AND YET AFFORD TO FIX SINCE I AM A COLLEGE STUDENT. PLEASE HELP.
Engine, Nov 19, 2019
THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT. IT TYPICALLY HAPPENS ON THE FIRST START OF THE DAY. THE CAR WILL RUN AND THEN START RUNNING REALLY ROUGH FOR NO REASON AND USUALLY STALLS OUT. TODAY IT RAN FINE AND STALLED OUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD. I ATTACHED SOME P CODES TO THE COMPLAINT AS WELL AS THEY CONSISTENTLY COME UP WITH THE ISSUE. I'VE CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS, THE 2ND CYLINDER COIL IGNITION START PACK AS THAT WAS ONE OF THE ISSUES FROM THE P CODES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I'M TAKING THIS INTO A JEEP DEALER ON 11/22. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THE ISSUE PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO I CAN FIND A SOLUTION. MY CAR HAS STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN STARTS RIGHT BACK UP AFTER A FEW MINUTES LIKE NOTHING IS WRONG. IMAGES OF THE P CODES ARE ATTACHED FOR REFERENCE.

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

THE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' LIGHT HAS COME ON MULTIPLE TIMES IN ONE DAY. I HAVE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON, BUT IT STILL SHOWS UP AS SOON AS I PUT MY CAR IN DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE, BUT I'VE ALWAYS JUST BEEN ABLE TO TURN MY CAR OFF AND IT WOULD BE FINE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING INDICATOR SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED MOMENTARILY. THE CONTACT CONTINUED DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO SEIZED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURES LASTED BRIEFLY AND THE CONTACT CONTINUED DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

I HAVE A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE, OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE INCIDENTS WITH IT STOPPING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I'VE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A FLASHING UPDATE. ANOTHER TIME I WAS TOLD THAT IT NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE AND WILL OFTEN TURN THE ENGINE OFF BECAUSE OF THIS. YET I NEVER GO PAST MY MILEAGE FOR MY SERVICES. I ALWAYS HAVE THAT TAKEN CARE OF WHEN DUE. NOW MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME IN WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. NO MESSAGE OF WHY IT'S ON, BUT I DID NOTICE IT WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY SHIFTING. NOW SOME OTHER LIGHT IS FLASHING AND THE TRACTION CONTROL IS ON.

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

THE DASH WARNING LIGHT IT TELLS ME TO SERVICE THE SHIFTER BUT EVERY MECHANIC I TALK TO SAYS IT NOT SERVICEABLE IT EFFECTS THE MANUAL SHIFTING WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON IT WONT SHIFT MANUALLY I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO IT WILL COME ON AND I TURN THE ENGINE OFF WHEN I TURN IT BACK ON ITS OFF IT DOESN'T ALWAYS COME ON BUT IT IS COMING ON MORE OFTEN IT COMES ON WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION SOMETIMES IT COMES ON WHEN I START IT IF IT WAS ON WHEN I SHUT IT OFF IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I'M CITY OR HIGHWAY DRIVING IT JUST COMES ON

SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON IT HAPOENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND MOTION AT DIFFERENT TIMES AT FIRST IT WOULD COME ON THEN WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT WOULD NOT BE ON HOWEVER FOR THE PASS WEEK IT COMES ON MORE FREQUENTLY IT OCCURS WHETHER IM DRIVING ON CITY STREETS OR HIGHWAY

HAVE HAD 2015 JEEP SINCE 19000 MILES NOTHING BUT ISSUES AFTER PURCHASE. SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON HAD IT LOOKED AT THEY FIXED THE SHIFTER. A MONTH LATER SAME LIGHT THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE WIRING AND A BEZEL. WELL GUESS WHAT'S BROKEN AGAIN AND I'M NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THIS PART KEEPS FAILING WHY DO I NEED TO KEEP PAYING FOR A BAD DESIGN. WHY CAN'T THEY FIGURE IT OUT. ALSO MY CAR HAS HAD A HARD SHIFT AT 40 MPH CANT WAIT FOR THAT BILL. CAR IS ALWAYS IN MOTION WITH FAILING SHIFTER.
Other or unspecified, Nov 8, 2019
AT 28,000 MILES MY JEEP CHEROKEE HAD THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COME ON PERIODICALLY AND IT WOULD JUST DISAPPEAR WHEN THE CAR WAS RESTARTED. NO ONE WAS ABLE TO RESEARCH THE ERROR BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT REMAIN ON AND THERE WAS NO DOCUMENTATION IN THE MANUAL ON HOW TO RESOLVE. AT 40,000 MILES THE ERROR BECAME MORE FREQUENT AND AT 42000 MILES IT BECAME CONSTANT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TODAY AND THEY SAID IT WAS A SHIFTER COMPONENT AND THEY WERE ORDERING A BEZEL TO INSTALL AT A VERY EXPENSIVE COST. EVERY JEEP FORUM SHOWS THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AND I THINK IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED.
Power train, Nov 7, 2019
SO I HAVE 2 DIFFERENT ISSUES WITH MY TRANSMISSION. FIRST ISSUE IS WHEN YIELDING ( NOT STOP) ILL GIVE MY JEEP GAS, IT FEELS AS THOUGH IM IN NEUTRAL AND MY ENGINE RPM GOES UP WONT MOVE, ALL OF A SUDDEN IT'LL FIND ITSELF PEEL OUT AND TAKE OFF AFTER ABOUT 3 SECONDS OR SO. SECONDLY WHEN COMING FROM A COMPLETE STOP TAKING OFF ONCE THE JEEP GETS TO ABOUT FOURTH OR FIFTH GEAR OR SO THE RPM GETS TO ABUT 3,000 BEFORE SWITCHING TO NEXT GEAR IT MAKES THIS HUGE KNOCK SOUND AND IT FEELS LIKE I JUST HIT A HUGE POT HOLE. BOTH THESE ISSUES ARE INTERMITTENT. BUT ITS REALLY SCARY WHEN HAPPENS WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC. IT HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS.

WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM SCHOOL, THE "SERVICE PARKING BRAKE" LIGHT CAME UP ON THE DASH. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND TURNED IT BACK ON. THE LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON, SO I DIDNT THINK IT WAS AN ISSUE. TWO DAYS LATER I GOT INTO MY CAR AND TURNED ON THE ENGINE AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS NOT ABLE TO REMOVE THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE. I HAD TO SEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THE PARKING BRAKE AUTOMATICALLY COMES OFF IF YOU PUT YOUR SEAT BELT ON AND PUT THE VEHICLE INTO D OR R. SINCE THIS HAPPENED THE LEVER TO REMOVE THE PARKING BREAK WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL. EVERY TIME I PRESSED THE BUTTON, IT SAID SERVICE PARKING BRAKE. I ALSO READ ONLINE THAT A TSB WAS ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE PARKING BRAKE MODULE IN THE REAR, AS WELL AS THE HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED SINCE IT WAS CORRODED. HOW WOULD SOMETHING THAT IS IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, HIDDEN BEHIND THE SIDE PANELS GET CORRODED AND HAVE THE OWNER BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES IF THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE PLACED IN A LOCATION WHERE IT CANNOT GET WET OR CORRODED.
