Rear differential failure. This car is my daily driver, and is in circumstances misused. Driving home from work with no warning the differential housing cracked and failed. A failure like this could potentially put myself, other occupants and other drivers on the road a risk by unexpectedly failing with zero warning. There was no sound, nor warning light, the only reason I noticed was when exiting my vehicle I could smell burning fluid. Upon inspection I found that the rear differential housing was cracked, and spewing fluid all over the exhaust.
Service brakes, Oct 26, 2023
I was driving approx 30 mph and my car suddenly came to a stop. The parking brake was engaged for no reason and the car would not move. I had to disengage the parking brake and restart the car. There were cars in back of me and luckily I was not rear ended.

Vehicle would randomly not start. Initially, it was several months between episodes. Would not jump-start so I would have it towed to a service center / dealership. Once off the tow truck it would start right up. Diagnosis would not find anything and all systems checked out. After several episodes, I decided to leave it at Jeep dealership so they could troubleshoot. They opened case with Jeep but after several weeks, could not replicate the issue. I spent several hundred dollars between diagnosis and towing costs. A simple google search revealed that it wasn't just me having this exact issue with several Jeep vehicles, and even this same model. Tried to get jeep to buy vehicle back but they denied. They sent me to arbitration and they also denied my case. The vehicle again wouldn't start and sat in my yard for 2 weeks, however, all of the Jeep dealerships within 50 miles of my home were "behind/full" and couldn't get to me for several weeks. I threw money at it and replaced the starter. The vehicle started back up and I sold it. It was the most frustrating experience ever and I felt that it's a known issue with Jeep and they refuse to recall/fix. They were willing to pay for some of my costs as long as a Jeep dealership did the repairs. Sounds like an admission of guilt to me.

URGENT: Date of near life & death situation.10-6-2023.This 2019 KL Cherokee lost accelerating power while in heavy traffic. As the car was losing speed the "D" drive indicator on center dash started flashing a moments later 2 messages displayed: Msg 1: Service transmission Restart in Park with vehicle @ zero speed. Msg 2: Shift to park or neutral Press brakes and select gear. (Center dash is the screen between tachometer and speedometer) Followed instructions, turned key to off position for a few seconds then started engine placed shifter in drive, accelerated engine to 2000 RPMs, car failed to move. Turned key off a second time, waited about 18 seconds for the mileage readout to clear then another 6 seconds (+-) for the outline light bars for the center screen to clear. Then when started it engaged a drive gear. Even in residential areas there are large trash trucks and large delivery trucks hurrying about, added to this vehicle faulting in roadway much less a center lane on the interstate with no time to pull out of traffic. Don't trust the car seat and booster seat even with air bags to save your children. Action is required to remove these vehicles from service after it has been proven the manufacturer cannot supply the dealership with a successful repair for a well documented failure of a common safety hazard in many of their vehicles. The dealership did not duplicate the problem but did confirm all of the information supplied them matched with the faults stored in PCM Memory. Not being able to duplicate leaves the Technician with just an image of the perils these faults puts the operator and public in, Catastrophic. No specific component could be proven at fault, with vehicle operating normal. After a diagnostic fault code retrieval the option was to allow them to spend maximum 6 hours in electrical testing to verify integrity of electrical connections and components. Driving on the highway fortunately about 20 MPH and the jeep Cherokee limited died while moving. Could not restart it and had to get towed off the highway . Jeep dealer said it was because of a dead battery that could not hold a charge. Never in 4 years had a problem . Not sure why a dead battery would cause the jeep to shut down completely while moving. Battery replaced and now the radio is dead according to the dealer . Have not picked the jeep up yet
Electrical system, Oct 5, 2023
While sitting in a parking lot waiting for my children after school my vehicle went from running to dead. No warning lights just dead. As this had previously happened to me I found someone to jump may car and it started right up. It is as if the battery just dies and the car shuts off but nothing works. BUT when I had the battery checked it was found to be in good working order.
Electrical system, Oct 5, 2023
While stopped at a stop light the car just died, no warning lights. It just went from running to dead. I was blocking a lane of traffic and could not put the car in neutral as nothing was working. I had to call for police assistance due to traffic and being in a vulnerable position, he was able to manually put the car in neutral and push me onto the grassy median to wait for a tow truck. After I had my car towed home I was able to jump start it with jumper cables.

Ptu transfer case failing at only 79k miles may case other issues
Service brakes, Sep 29, 2023
The electronic parking brake came on while turning slowly. It triggered an error code in the Shift Solenoid A Control , error code P0973. When I turn off the car, wait then turn it on again, it works fine. This has been happening for about 2 years every few months. I took it to the deal when it happen a few months ago, but they couldn't reproduce it. It happens randomly. The vehicle has not been inspected for this occurrence. There were no warning lights or messages prior to it happening.
Power train, Sep 29, 2023
Ptu transfer case failed ad leaking 79k miles obviously it’s pre-failure. Girl friends car in shop for same reason and others online stating same issues as the 2014 recalls
Air bags, Sep 26, 2023
I know there is a recall for the air bags and my air bag light came on and said service airbag’s system. I read y’all’s article that says keep a watch on my dash board and this is a safety concern and very dangerous if i wreck or someone wrecks into me and my airbags don’t go off.
Service brakes, Sep 24, 2023
One day as I was leaving out of a store parking lot I pulled into oncoming traffic and my emergency brake automatically turned on and stopped me in the middle of the road. This situation was extremely hazardous for me and my [XXX]. I am now aware that the emergency brake automatically engages if your car is not secured (door(s) is still open). I believe this feature is very dangerous and should be fixed immediately. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was driving down I-55 S in Marion, Arkansas on 21 September 2023 at 620 in the morning headed towards Memphis when I heard a crack and glasses shattering above my head. I knew my sun roof had to have been broken. I pulled over and opened the automatic shade and my entire sunroof had been shattered. The inside of my car was completely covered in glass. There was no object that I saw that could have done this, it was roughly 65F outside, at 620am, with clear skies. I had to drive back to my boyfriends house in Marion to leave the car in his driveway and call my insurance company to file a claim and reserve a rent a car. There is still glass shards sticking out of the sunroof, which I cannot remove without injuring myself or furthering damaging the roof. The car is currently available for inspection and hasn’t not been inspected. There was no warning signs. I had opened my sunroof just last week and had no issues, there wasn’t any cracks or damages. I was driving roughly 70 mph and had several cars around me including a semi trailer, had I not had my shade closed I would have been covered with glass and may of gotten glass in my eyes which would have impacted my ability to see and may have caused an accident.
Power train, Sep 20, 2023
Recently a light for Service 4 Wheel Drive came on in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Since my Powertrain warranty is out of reach by 3,000 miles (63,000 miles) I am now forced to pay over $3,000.00 out of pocket to replace the PTU on my 2019 vehicle that only has 63,000 miles on it. The recall for earlier models does not cover they year of my vehicle, but I feel that it may not have been fixed with the 2019 model. If the PTU would have gone out while driving, I could have lost complete forward movement of the vehicle and it could have put both me and my young daughter in severe danger. The Service 4 Wheel Drive light is now on constantly and I was given no other choice but to pay to have it fixed for the safety of my daughter.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact came to a stop sign and the vehicle auto-stop; however, while attempting to accelerate after coming to a complete stop, the vehicle stalled. Additionally, the emergency warning brake light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.
Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Sep 16, 2023
This is my second complaint regarding a Jeep and this time about a 2019 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 Limited, I turned in a complaint re: 2019 Jeep Compass as they both have the same problem. The stop/start system has drained the secondary battery, in turn draining the car battery, in turning almost killing the alternator, The failure left me in the middle of a busy intersection with no possible way to restart the car. It could easily have gotten me killed. There was no warning , no light, no nothing. There is an extreme failure in this system and I want to know why the mechanics for Jeep do not tell you that the secondary battery is a problem and will be again as it isn't changed out when the car battery is replaced. (the demise of which is a result of the failure of the secondary) t is a n unnecessary and a lousy one,
Vehicle speed control, Engine, Sep 14, 2023
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle randomly accelerated. The RPM had increased to a high level. The 4WD service message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the PTU needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, there was an abnormal dinging sound. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the same local dealer, where it was determined that the PTU was blocked and not working. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.
Other or unspecified, Sep 13, 2023
I received a warning light on my dash board SVC 4WD. I took my car to the dealership and was told I need my PTU replaced and the cost was estimated at $2,255.67. I did some reach and found a recall for this same issue in earlier vehicle year models. I am frustrated by the fact that my Jeep is obviously having the same issue and could potentially put my safety at risk yet my vehicle year is not recalled. I am forced to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket because my vehicle model isn’t recalled. I need action taken to have my vehicle recalled so that my Jeep can be repaired.
