Recalls and investigations

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2011-2013 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with a 3.6, 5.7, or 6.4 liter engine and previously recalled under NHTSA Recall 14V530 or 15V115. The fuel pump relay inside the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM-7) may fail, causing the vehicle to stall without warning.

A vehicle stall increases the risk of a crash.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) will replace the affected fuel pump relay and related wire harness. Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk were mailed beginning December 19, 2019. Vehicles that experience a fuel pump failure will receive an interim repair. Owners will receive a second notice when the final remedy becomes available. Owner notification letters were mailed on December 10, 2020. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V62.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles. The affected vehicles had brake booster shields installed under a previous campaign to prevent water from entering the brake booster and limiting braking ability. This recall is to verify that the brake booster shield installation was performed properly.

If the brake booster shield was not installed properly, the vehicle's braking ability may be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake booster shield, correcting the installation as necessary, free of charge. The recall began November10, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T59.

Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles manufactured from January 5, 2010, through September 8, 2013. The subject vehicles have a brake booster with a center shell that may corrode and allow water to get inside.

WHEN I TOOK CAR TO SERVICE STATION I WAS INFORMED THE POWER BOOSTER FOR THE BRAKES HAD BLOWN. 3. Electrical system, Air bags, Service brakes, Nov 13, 2013

JEEP IS UNRELIABLE TURNING ON. WILL CRANK AND CRANK AND CRANK, BUT NEVER TURN OVER. AFTER 10 OR SO TRIES, WILL SOMETIMES START. OTHER TIMES, I HAVE TO LEAVE IT AND TRY AGAIN LATER. DEALER SAYS IT IS RELATED TO THE TIPM. WHICH IS BACKORDERED, WITH NO ESTIMATED SHIP DATE IN SIGHT. THIS PART IS ALSO LINKED TO MY AUTOMATIC BRAKES, AIRBAGS, ELECTRICAL, ETC. MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THE DEALER REFUSES TO GRANT ME A COURTESY OR RENTAL CAR UNTIL THE PART COMES IN. THEY SUGGESTED I KEEP MY UNRELIABLE CAR FOR THE TIME BEING. *TR

  4. Service brakes, Oct 19, 2013

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

  5. Vehicle speed control, Service brakes, Feb 25, 2013

UPON SLOWING DOWN AT NORMAL DECELERATION RATES, THE BRAKES LOST POWER ALLOWING CAR TO ROLL THROUGH A STOP SIGN. THE ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT AND DOES NOT EXHIBIT ANY OBSERVABLE PATTERN (OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE, ETC). THE DEALER FIRST SAID IT WAS THE ROTORS GLAZING, BUT THE ISSUE CONTINUED AFTER THE DEALERSHIP TURNED THEM AND THE FREQUENCY HAS NOT REDUCED. THE SECOND VISIT FOUND NO ISSUES AFTER IT WAS AGAIN REPORTED. A THIRD PARTY RESOURCE INDICATED THAT IT COULD BE THE MASTER CYLINDER GASKET/SEAL. SINCE THIS ISSUE DOES NOT OCCUR REGULARLY AND HAS NOT BEEN "OBSERVED" BY THE DEALERSHIP, THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE THE PART. SINCE IT DOES HAPPEN AT A RATE OF ONLY 1-2 TIMES PER WEEK, IT IS TOUGH TO COMPENSATE FOR AND/OR PREDICT WHEN IT WILL OCCUR CAUSING LACK OF CONFIDENCE. OTHER NOTES ARE THAT ABS DOES NOT KICK IN DURING THE LOSS OF POWER AND THE PEDAL IS PUSHED IN AS FAR AS POSSIBLE WITH THE CAR STILL MOVING FORWARD BETWEEN 5-10MPH ONLY DECELERATING SLIGHTLY. *TR

  6. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Sep 2, 2011

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD PULL TOWARD THE RIGHT WHENEVER THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. UPON EXAMINING THE BRAKES, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WERE SAND HOLES IN THE ROTOR CASTING ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE DID NOT REQUIRE ANY REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200. RUST HOLES IN FRONT BRAKE ROTOR ON RIGHT SIDE. UPDATED 10/05/2011 *LN *TR
