  1. Power train, Engine, Aug 18, 2026

My 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee equipped with the 3.6L Pentastar v6 has a persistent cylinder 2 misfire (P0302). The cylinder 2 spark plug, ignition coil, and fuel injector have already been replaced, but the misfire continues. Diagnostic testing with a scan tool confirmed that cylinder 2 accumulated 61 misfires during a single test while cylinders 1,3, 4, 5, and 6 recorded zero, and the misfire monitor reported " Fail this trip" the vehicle can appear to drive normally despite the active misfire. I became aware that Chrysler issued warranty bulletin x56 concerning the 3.6L left cylinder head on certain 2011- 2013 vehicles including select 2013 Jeep grand Cherokees. I contact a jeep dealer and advise that my VIN is not included in that warranty extension. I am reporting this because my vehicle is experiencing a similar cylinder specific misfire concerns and I believe this condition should be documented and investigated.

  2. Power train, Electrical system, Service brakes, Nov 7, 2025

The contact owns a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 15-25 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated before accelerating as intended. The contact stated that the brake pedal resistance increased while depressing the brake pedal, which required the brake pedal to be depressed to the floorboard. The contact stated that the Emergency Stop Brake engaged unexpectedly while the vehicle was idling and while driving at various speeds. A "Low Battery" message was displayed, and upon inspection, the battery was hot. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed failures with the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) communication and the transmission; however, the vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously included in unknown recalls and was taken to the dealer where the recall repairs were performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Was inspected @ my local garage. The tipm goes out and you lose turn signals, wipers, transfer case control ( locks in low gear) causes airbag light to go on. And Chrysler does not manufacture them anymore. Jeep had to be towed.

  4. Power train, Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Mar 8, 2025

I was driving down a hill, came to a stop, and it died. I put the car in park, and turned it off and on. There were no messages on the dashboard. The car started, so I took a left turn and suddenly the car stopped moving. The RPM went up, but the car didn't drive. It kicked back and it finally started driving but with the car hesitating. I was in the middle of a very busy intersection. The car died 3 times yesterday, and today it died 2 times.

  5. Power train, Sep 12, 2022

This is the second time I’ve replaced the rear end differential in this car. Seems to be a know issue among mechanics that Jeep’s are know to need this rare pair often

  6. Power train, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Dec 17, 2021

The vehicle (2013 GC Trailhawk ) engine stalls while driving. The electrical remains on but engine oil error comes on and I can feel there is missing as if engine is not getting enough fuel, there is no power when you accelerate and the engine stalls. My safety is put in risk because this happens while driving on the highway and normal streets. I have taken it to my Jeep dealer (John Hughes, Perth, Australia ) and they too claimed to have never heard of this issue. Fuel pump relay was already repalced some time back. The issue continues and they claim they cannot figure out the problem. The engine will re-start after about 10 minutes powered off and drives fine until the next time it stalls, which has become more frequent. There is no warning when the engine will stall, it just stops running. This problem has been going on now for over six months for me with the stalling becoming more frequent.- Perth, WA, Austalia This has happened 5 times now in the last 6 months.

  7. Power train, Sep 3, 2021

The contact owns a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds or while stopped at a stop sign, the vehicle was rough idling and would stall intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed as compression leaks and cylinder head failure. The mechanic referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer informed the contact that the failure was related to a manufacturer's X56 extension warranty for the 3.6 Liter left cylinder head. The VIN was not included in the extended warranty and the contact was referred to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE ENGINE WAS IDLING AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN THE PARK POSITION, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DROVE FORWARD AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH BEFORE DRIVING OVER A CURB. THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS ABLE TO CLIMB INTO THE VEHICLE AND HANDLE THE GEAR SELECTOR CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STOP. DURING THE INCIDENCE, A ONE YEAR OLD CHILD WAS IN THE REAR CAR SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER ISLINGTON CHRYSLER LOCATED AT 5476 DUNDAS ST W, ETOBICOKE, ON M9B 1B6, CANADA. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.*DT*JB

  10. Power train, Jan 4, 2021

INITIALLY BROUGHT MY JEEP INTO SHOP DUE TO JERKY MOVEMENT AT SLOWS SPEEDS WHILE TRYING TO TURN OR BACKING UP AND THEN "SERVICE 4WD" LIGHT COMING ON. WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE CONTROL MODULE AND SHIFT MOTOR WERE BAD. WHEN I PICKED UP THE JEEP EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE WORKING FINE. LESS THAN 3MONTHS LATER, AND APPROX. 5,000 MILES, "SERVICE 4WD" LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND SEEMS TO BE STUCK IN 4 LOW. HAD CAR TOWED TO SAME SHOP, IN CASE ONE OF THE PREVIOUS PARTS WENT BAD, AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED NOW. LOOKING INTO THE ERROR, IT SEEMS THIS IS ANOTHER "KNOWN PROBLEM" WITH JEEP ALONG WITH THE ROCKER ARM ISSUE I PREVIOUSLY HAD ON THIS JEEP. AS BOTH OF THESE ISSUES ARE SAFETY RELATED SINCE THE VEHICLE COULD STALL OR SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING, I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON BOTH ISSUES. ESPECIALLY SINCE BOTH OF THESE REPAIRS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE!

  11. Power train, Dec 17, 2020

JEEP SPUTTERED DURING A RED LIGHT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. HEAD CYLINDER FAILURE AT 66 THOUSAND MILES. ENGINE MADE TICKING NOISE. BROUGHT TO JEEP REPAIR IN MASS. DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED LEFT HEAD CYLINDER. STARED OTHER VINS HAD RECALLS, MY JEEP WASN'T INCLUDED. SAME FAILURE AS OTHER RECALLED ENGINES, THEY DID REPAIR AFTER ENGINE LEAKING AS WELL AND TRANSMISSION LINE FAILURES AT 66K MILES

  12. Power train, Engine, Sep 29, 2020

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, AN ABNORMAL TICKING SOUND WAS HEARD COMING FROM ENGINE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE ROCKER ARM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO BE SERVICED. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH FIRKINS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (2700 1ST ST, BRADENTON, FL 34208) AND WAS PROVIDED A COST TO DIAGNOSE AND DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT DECLINED THE SERVICE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT RECENTLY APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AFTER THE VEHICLE MISFIRED WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.

  14. Steering, Power train, Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 1, 2020

ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2020 SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND WHILE IN MOTION, THE ENGINE STOPPED CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO STOP IN ROADWAY WITH HARD PRESSURE ON BRAKES. FORTUNATELY, NO CONTACT WAS MADE WITH PERSON OR PROPERTY. I ATTEMPTED TO RE-START THE VEHICLE BUT IT WOULD ONLY CRANK AND NOT START. SEVERAL MINUTES LATER WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD TROUBLE STARTING ON MANY OCCASIONS PRIOR BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT STOPPED WHILE DRIVING. THE ONLY INDICATION THE VEHICLE HAD LOST POWER WAS WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE AND TURN THE WHEEL. PRIOR TO THIS THE DEALERSHIP HAS EXAMINED THE ISSUE ON AT LEAST FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS SPANNING YEARS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE FUEL PUMP RELAY HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE ON THIS VEHICLE. AFTER BOTH OF THESE ALLEGED REPAIRS THE VEHICLE HAS EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AND RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP. IN THE LAST VISIT WITH THE DEALERSHIP ON JUNE 23, 2020 AND PHONE CALL WITH FCA US LLC'S CUSTOMER SERVICE ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2020 I WAS DIRECTLY INFORMED THAT NO SOLUTION EXISTS. THERE IS NO ADVANCED NOTICE TO THE DRIVER AS THIS DOES NOT OCCUR EACH TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. WHEN THE VEHICLE DOES LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING, NO NOTICEABLE INDICATION OF THIS DANGER CAN BE QUICKLY OBSERVED BY THE DRIVER. IT WAS ONLY NOTICED WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO MANEUVER THE BRAKES OR STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS A KNOWN AND HAZARDOUS CONDITION CREATED BY FCA US LLC. WHICH THEY HAVE NOT ADEQUATELY ADDRESSED.

MY VEHICLE LEFT ME STRANDED AT A TARGET STORE PARKING LOT. MY VEHICLE WAS ON WITH THE A/C RUNNING. THE VENT BLOWERS STOPPED WORKING AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. IT CRANKED BUT NO START. I USED MY AAA MEMBERSHIP TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED. IT WAS SENT TO THE AAA MECHANIC. THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS NO GOOD. I KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS RELAY BUT THE DEALER NEVER HAD THE PART IN STOCK. WHICH SOUNDED BOGUS TO ME. THE MECHANIC EXPLAINED THAT THERE IS A RECALL AND I SHOULD GET REIMBURSED. I SENT IN MY COMPLETED THE CHRYSLER REIMBURSEMENT REQUEST FORM AND SUBMITTED THE SHOPS RECEIPT AND THE RENTAL VEHICLE RECEIPT. I WAS ASSIGNED CASE # 76491689. I PAID $3004.00 IN CASH FOR REPAIRS. AFTER I SUBMITTED MY RECEIPTS THEY DENIED MY CLAIM FOR $1309.00 THAT WAS RELATED TO THE FUEL PUMP RELAY REPAIR. THE MECHANIC ALSO PERFORMED OTHER REPAIRS THAT HE CLAIMS WERE AS A RESULT OF THE RECALL DAMAGING THE VEHICLE. I ASKED FOR ANOTHER RECEIPT STATING SPECIFICALLY THAT I PAID IN CASH AND RESUBMITTED IT TO THE DENIED CLAIM EMAIL. I AM UNEMPLOYED DUE TO COVID-19 AND I SPENT MY SAVINGS TO FIX MY VEHICLE. THE RAMIFICATIONS OF THIS MESS HAS AFFECTED MY PERSONAL LIFE AND MY MENTAL HEALTH. FOR A MOMENT I FELT THE MECHANIC LIED TO ME AND I WAS CONTEMPLATING TO PHYSICAL HARM THE MECHANIC. I ALREADY HAD SEVERAL VERBAL DISPUTES WITH THE SHOP BECAUSE THEY CLAIM THAT THE RECEIPT THEY GAVE ME IS ALL THEY CAN PROVIDE. YET IT WAS DEEMED AS INSUFFICIENT PROOF OF MY CASH PAYMENT. I REACHED OUT TO NEWS STATION FOR ASSISTANCE YOU RESOLVE THIS MATTER. *TR

  17. Suspension, Power train, Electrical system, Jun 2, 2020

CURRENT ISSUE - WHILE WAITING IN A FAST FOOD LINE THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON... AFTER RECEIVING FOOD - I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT AND BEFORE I COULD TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, IT STARTED GIVING OFF ERROR CODES RELATED TO VARIOUS ELECTRICAL ITEMS NOT BEING AVAILABLE - FIRST WARNING - SVC. AIR SUSPENSION - SECOND - BLIND SPOT DETECTION NOT AVAILABLE - THIRD EVIC ERROR - FOURTH - ADAPTIVE CRUISE NOT AVAILABLE... THEN DIED AND SMELT LIKE BURNING RUBBER WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE... A FAILED EFFORT BY ROADSIDE SERVICE TO JUMP THE VEHICLE DID MANAGE TO TURN ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WHICH WOULDN'T TURN OFF BUT THAT'S ALL THAT ACCOMPLISHED SO I HAD ROADSIDE SERVICE PUT IT ON A FLATBED AND TOW IT TO MY HOUSE SINCE NOTHING WAS OPENED AND I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE IT SOMEWHERE WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN (OF COURSE THEY WOULDN'T ROLL UP)... PRETTY CLEARLY THIS SHOULD BE PART OF THE T39 ALTERNATOR RECALL THAT WAS ISSUED DUE TO BAD DIODES WHICH CAUSE THE ALTERNATOR TO FRY THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WITH VERY LITTLE WARNING... THE CAR SHOULD DIE AND THEN THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ALTERNATOR SHOULD RECTIFY THE SITUATION... NOT - THE LIGHT COMES ON - THE CAR IMMEDIATELY DIES - AND THEN YOU NEED A NEW PCM OR ECM AND ALL NEW WIRING... ISSUE #2 - THE SUSPENSION HAS BEEN A TOTAL FIASCO ACCUMULATING $13,000 IN DEALER ASSESSMENTS NOT UNDER WARRANTY - THE WHOLE SYSTEM HAS GONE OUT WITHIN 80,000 MILES AND EVEN AFTER REPLACING 2 AIR STRUTS - 2 UPPER CONTROL ARMS - THE TIE RODS END LINKS - AND THE CV AXLES - AND THE COMPRESSOR - IT STILL SOUNDS LIKE A RICKETY BUCKET OF JUNK... WHEN DRIVING - ALWAYS. ISSUE #3 - THE WATER PUMP CONTINUOUSLY FAILS. - NOT SURE IF WHEN DRIVING BUT ONE WOULD SUSPECT THAT TO BE THE CASE. *TR

THIS VEHICLE HAS A FREQUENT ACCELERATION PROBLEM. STARTED WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM AN ON RAMP TO THE HIGHWAY, ESPECIALLY WHEN SLOWING TO AROUND 30 MPH AND ACCELERATING TO 55. NOW IT DOES TO EVERYTHING. TURNING FROM A STOP LIGHT INTO A HIGHWAY I FIND MY SELF HAVING TO FLOOR IT, CAUSING IT TO REV TO 4500 RPM'S AND STILL BARELY MOVING. ROUND ABOUTS ARE A STRUGGLE AS WELL, TRYING TO TURN OUT OF ONE AND SPEED UP IS HORRIBLE. EXTREMELY UNSAFE WHEN YOU HAVE A CHILD IN YOUR CAR AND YOUR TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC AND YOUR CAR WON'T MOVE.

I HAVE A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED 4X4 AND HAD A TICKING NOISE WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AND TURNING IT OFF THAT COMES AND GOES AWAY. WE HAVE HAD IT DIAGNOSED TO BE THE TRANSFER CASE MODULE AND WHEN RESEARCHING TO SEE IF I CAN BUY THE PART, I WAS ADVISED IT'S ON A NATIONAL BACKORDER WITH THE DEALER AND AFTERMARKET. ALSO WHILE RESEARCHING, SAW MULTIPLE REPORTS STATING THAT WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING MULTIPLE TIMES AND MAKES THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. MY VEHICLE IS USED FOR WORK AND DRIVEN ALL DAY ON THE FREEWAY. I'VE ALSO READ THAT THERE ARE NO WARNING SIGNS AND THEN IT'S BLOWN OUT AND UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN UNTIL FIXED. I WORRY ABOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT ALL AS I DON'T WANT IT STALLING ON THE HIGHWAY OR ANYWHERE ELSE. I WORRY IT WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT I CAN'T PREVENT AS THE VEHICLE MAY JUST SUDDENLY STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. BEEN A REOCCURRING ISSUE FOR MYSELF FOR ABOUT A MONTH OR TWO.

REAR DRIVESHAFT CV JOINT FAILURE AT ~78,500 MILES. THE BOOT THAT CONTAINS THE BEARING GREASE FAILED AND LEFT A RING OF GREASE ON NEIGHBORING COMPONENTS. FAILED JOINT IS THE ONE THAT CONNECTS TO THE TRANSFER CASE. FROM ONSET OF SYMPTOMS (MILD CLICKING NOISE) TO NOTICEABLE DRIVELINE VIBRATION AND VERY LOUD POPPING IN CENTER OF VEHICLE WAS LESS THAN 100 MILES. UNSURE HOW MUCH LONGER I COULD HAVE DRIVEN BEFORE THE JOINT FAILED OR THE DRIVELINE VIBRATIONS DAMAGED THE TRANSFER CASE OR REAR AXLE. WHEN THE REAR DRIVESHAFT WAS REMOVED, I NOTICED A GREASE RING ON A FRONT DRIVESHAFT CV JOINT. THAT DRIVESHAFT WILL ALSO BE REPLACED.
