I WAS INFORMED AFTER (AROUND 8/16/14) I RETURNED FROM ROAD TRIP THAT BRAKE BOOSTER AND CYLINDER WERE ACTUALLY NEEDED AND MORE TIME WAS NEEDED FOR REPAIR. 5. Service brakes, Aug 29, 2014

I RECEIVED A RECALL FROM CHRYSLER IN REFERENCE TO A SAFETY RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM IS SPECIFIC TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER IN THAT THE SHELL MAY INGEST WATER IN WET CONDITIONS (RAIN, SNOW, FOG, WASHING THE CAR, ETC.) WHICH WOULD TOTALLY DISABLE ANY BRAKING FUNCTION FOR THE VEHICLE. THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE TO TAKE TO MY DEALER FOR REPAIR WHICH I DID MONTHS AGO. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER THE PARTS NECESSARY TO REPAIR HAVE NOT BEEN DELIVERED AND EVERY DEALERSHIP I CHECKED WITH HAVE A 200+ WAITING LIST OF CUSTOMERS WAITING FOR REPAIR PARTS TO BE DELIVERED. I'VE CALL CHRYSLER'S SUPPORT LINE LISTED ON THE RECALL NOTICE SEVERAL TIMES AND THE ONLY RESPONSE I GET IS THAT PARTS ARE ON THE WAY, WHICH IS THE SAME RESPONSE I'VE RECEIVED FOR MONTHS! WHO DO THEY HAVE MAKING THESE PARTS THAT IS TAKING SO LONG, AND ISN'T LOSING ALL BRAKING CAPABILITIES IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO MOVE UP ON THE PRIORITY LIST??? *TR

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER IN MAY. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP IN EARLY JUNE AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE NOT RECEIVING PARTS TO FIX THIS IN A TIMELY MANNER AND I HAD TO GO ON A 12 PAGE WAITING LIST. I CALLED TODAY TO FIND OUT THE STATUS (2 MONTHS LATER) AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ME ON THE LIST AND TOLD ME THEY WOULD PUT ME AT THE BOTTOM AGAIN. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE - WHEN A RECALL IS MADE, THE MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE TO SERVICE THESE VEHICLES AND THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE A BETTER WAY OF KEEPING TRACK OF THINGS THAN A HANDWRITTEN LIST. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT ISN'T A PROBLEM SINCE IT'S NOT YET FREEZING OUT, BUT IF I HAVE TO WAIT MONTHS AGAIN AS I ALREADY HAVE - IT WILL BE WINTER AND NOT SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. *TR

I RECEIVED A BRAKE BOOSTER SAFETY RECALL NOTICE IN JUNE - P14 NHTSA 14V-154. I CALLED THE DEALER TODAY AUGUST 4TH TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE REPAIR ([XXX], TRAVERSE CITY, MI). THE DEALER SERVICE REP INFORMED ME THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE PARTS, ONLY GET MAYBE THREE PARTS A WEEK, AND SAID I COULD BE ON A WAITING LIST WHICH NOW HAS OVER 30 PEOPLE. I SAID AT THAT RATE IT COULD BE MONTHS BEFORE THE SAFETY RECALL IS COMPLETED. HE SAID HE HAD NO INFORMATION ABOUT WHEN THE REPAIR MIGHT HAPPEN AND AGREED THAT THEY (CHRYSLER) WERE NOT BEING VERY RESPONSIVE. I GOT ON A WAITING LIST AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD CALL ME IF THEY GET ANY PARTS. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A SAFETY RECALL IF THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER CANNOT PROVIDE ANY SERVICE OR COMMITMENT? I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A SKI WEEKEND IN UPSTATE NY IN JANUARY AND TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH, THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS BELOW FREEZING AND I WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN FOR UPCOMING TRAFFIC AND THE PEDAL WAS HARD AND THE BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE, I PUMPED THE PEDAL AND REMAINED CALM AND HOPED THAT THE POWER WOULD COME BACK TO THE PEDAL AND LUCKILY IT DID AFTER A 3 PUMPS TO THE PEDAL AND TOOK ABOUT 5 SECONDS. WE AVOIDED A NEAR FATAL COLLISION IF IT WASN'T FOR MY QUICK THINKING AND REMAINING CALM. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO WESTBURY JEEP WHO TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AND RETURNED THE CAR TO ME, I THEN CONTINUED TO HAVE THE PROBLEM REOCCUR ON COLD DAYS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW FREEZING. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOTHING AND NOW A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE EXACT ISSUE I DESCRIBED AND THE DEALERSHIP STILL REFUSES TO REPAIR IT BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART. I WANT THE REPAIR DONE ASAP! *TR
