  1. Power train, Electrical system, Engine, Aug 18, 2022

This has happened three (3) times to me. The instrument cluster on my 2014 jeep Grand Cherokee just blackouts and the windshield wipers go on, then multiple cluster warning lights illumination and a loss of anti-lock brake system (ABS) / electronic stability control system function stops. The vehicle slows down because of loss of power. A loss of instrument cluster illumination and/or loss of ABS function while driving could cause a crash.

  2. Seats, Aug 16, 2022

For no reason whatsoever, the headrest srs deployed. And now I have to replace it with a new one. Very expensive. And dangerous problem.

  3. Electrical system, Vehicle speed control, Engine, Aug 13, 2022

Driving down the road in the middle of the night- the entire dash went black and only warning lights blinking across. Several error messages appeared and went black again.

  4. Structure, Aug 10, 2022

Dash board leather cover bubbling de lamanting. Causing stange reflections in windshield while driving.

  5. Seats, Aug 5, 2022

My passenger side headrest deployed randomly while my girlfriend was in the seat. She currently has a headache, we are looking into this further and what steps should be taken. Vehicle was driving maybe 10 mph when this took place. I understand this design for deployment is supposed to take place during an accident to protect the passenger from whiplash. Again, this incident took place randomly (no accident) A plastic clip broke off, causing the headrest to spring and deploy. This is a dangerous safety design flaw and Jeep should have a recall for this component. There were NO warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The incident occurred on August 4, 2022.

  6. Power train, Aug 5, 2022

the transmission will drop in gear from 8th to 4th will have to pull over and turn car off then on will reset works fine in manual but in automatic itll shift on its own

  7. Seat belts, Aug 5, 2022

With less than 16,000 miles, the driver side seat belt just stopped recoiling. Wife stated one day when she got back from running errands, she unbuckled the seat belt after driving and heard a click noise and the seat belt did not retract. Ever since then the seat does not retrack and whenever someone drives the car, they need to ensure the seat belt is placed within the car so it does not get caught in the door being closed. This will only work for so long until it gets caught in the door before the belt gets frayed and is degraded.

  8. Electrical system, Aug 3, 2022

I was driving my car this afternoon when the car automatically slipped into neutral, thankfully I had just gotten off the main road and was on a gravel road. The car literally came to a halt, stopped, I could not restart, and the steering wouldn't move. I was able to get the car towed to a local garage, who said the issue was more than likely the fuse box, they will not touch it as they believed there may be a recall for the fuse box. I have searched for recalls via my vin, and I do not see a recall for my specific car for this issue, but do see that this has been an issue. How are recalls identified? I have a call into a Jeep Dealership and I am hoping to get an appointment tomorrow and get the car towed once more. This truly was a safety issue as if I was on the highway that I had just left I would have been driving at 55MPH. I do not have an estimate as I am working to secure an appointment with the dealership.

  9. Seats, Jul 26, 2022

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while she was stopped at a store parking lot, she heard a popping sound as the front passenger’s side headrest inadvertently deployed. The contact stated that she was not aware of any warning lights being illuminated. The contact re-inserted the headrest into the seat however, the headrest was not secured and would detach from the seat while driver over rough road surfaces. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

  13. Air bags, Jul 19, 2022

While traveling on vacation, we pulled over at a gas station (thankfully I was not driving, for I believe I would have been in an accident). While sitting at the gas station, my drivers side Active Headrest Restraint deployed suddenly and struck me in the back of the head. I was leaning forward a bit and didn't receive the full blow, but it did cause me neck pain, a headache, and my left eye was throbbing.

  14. Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 18, 2022

While driving down the road the vehicle lost power. No warning lights had come on prior to losing power. Luckily I was able to get it pulled over off the road before it died completely. After that it would not start but the check engine light was now on. I had vehicle towed to a shop close to my house. After the shop’s diagnostics, I was informed the problem was the high pressure fuel pump.

  15. Engine and engine cooling, Jul 18, 2022

Severe oil leak and oil loss from engine. Unknown source of leak.

  16. Power train, Electrical system, Visibility/wiper, Jul 13, 2022

I noticed things like the cluster going completely black at random and it would last for seconds before re-illuminating; it happens while driving. I took in my vehicle to the dealership on June 28, 2022, two days prior, I noticed that my doors were unlocking while I was inside my workplace, the alarm was going off another day and I noticed shifting issues with the transmission. On June 27, 2022 I was forced to buy a brand new battery because the Jeep was running in Power Saving Mode, instead of taking a risk with a low battery, I bought a new one and thought everything was good, but it continued to run in Power Saving Mode; I received two CEL CODES, both correlating to the Transmission Control Module (TCM). Later that evening my son informed me that the cluster light was still on, the JEEP had been parked for several hours so there was no reason for the light to still be ON (WAKE MODE?). Also, I notated the codes I received before I had to have the Jeep towed to the dealership on Jun 28th to compare to what the service dept came up with; however on Jun 28th I attempted to jump the battery to take it to the service center but it wouldn’t Jump or charge; what happened was, just before the cluster went haywire, the wipers were moving across the windshield while it was in an OFF position, the UCONNECT was glitching out then went black, Cluster warned to service the electronic ABS and the SHIFTER, the fuse box was vibrating and shuddering very loudly, a hissing noise was coming from the back of the vehicle (could be the fuel pump? like compressed air) so by Monday morning, the 27th the battery had completely died and by the time it got to the dealership on Tues, I had to use the battery warranty to replace the battery so that the service department could then diagnose the Jeep. Fine, the battery was replaced Jun 30th with a brand new one, but by Fri Jun 8th I was told I need another brand new battery. All the issues had had a prior recall and seem to be reoccurring.

  17. Power train, Jul 7, 2022

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle started to lurch forward as if the contact had suddenly depressed the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the 4WD and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled off to the side of the road turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle drove normally. The contact stated that the failure of lurching forward became an ongoing failure. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle would lurch forward when shifted into park(P). The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the gear box needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 101,000.

  18. Power train, Jul 5, 2022

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the powertrain failed and the vehicle stalled. The contact pulled over safely and waited for approximately 5 minutes before restarting and driving to a local mechanic. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Uconnect NAV 8.4N updated to the latest firmware when purchased in July of 2020. Currently it will reboot randomly and go to a black screen. At which point it will blast the heater and the radio at full volume while driving. Extremely terrifying and dangerous. Uconnect says it’s not their problem as it is an 8 year old system. Seems like they should be held accountable for forcing drivers into a DISTRACTED driver situation. Repeatedly. So far the only fix I have found is to pull over immediately and restart the vehicle. I am about to purchase an aftermarket unit to replace this dangerous item that is also affecting the resale value of said vehicle.

Power steering, engine acceleration, coolant/radiator, belts, eco diesel system, blind side detectors and automatic emergency breaking have all been major issues with this jeep. I've almost been crashed into by other vehicles, including an 18 wheeler, because of the engine instability. It is now in the repair shop and completely unable to drive.

  25. Suspension, Jun 20, 2022

The air ride suspension failed and is available for inspection. The "Service Air Suspension Immediately" notification appeared while driving. The problem has been confirmed by Stellantis dealership. The components were inspected by the manufacturer and insurance. There was not an indication of failure prior to failing. Stellantis technician claims the air suspension experienced an electrical failure causing an internal leak on all (4) air bags. The only remedy is to replace the entire suspension system. I do not know the safety implications of this failure if I continued driving the vehicle.
