Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, control unit/moduleNov 7, 2024
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles. A malfunction in the antilock-brake system (ABS) module may incorrectly illuminate the brake lights and disable the ABS and electronic stability control (ESC). In addition, the vehicle operator may be able to start and shift out of Park without the brake pedal being applied.
A vehicle that can be started and shifted out of Park without applying the brake pedal can result in a vehicle rollaway. Disabled ABS and ESC systems can reduce vehicle handling and control in certain driving situations. Brake lights that incorrectly illuminate can fail to properly indicate the driver's intention to following traffic. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the integrated pressure transducer and update the ABS module software, as necessary free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 16, 2025. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 94B. This recall replaces previous recall number 22V-426. Vehicles previously remedied under 22V-426 will need to have the new remedy completed.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L Diesel engines. The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate, causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.
An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.
Dealers will update the powertrain control module software to maintain vehicle propulsion, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 3, 2023. Some owner notification letters were mailed October 31, 2023. The radio is delaminating causing defects. Changes radio station randomly. Adjusts heat settings and air conditioning settings without warning. Glue is melting and running down behind radio into storage compartment.
Electrical system, Jun 3, 2024
The screen has delaminated and is not functioning, causing the heat, AC, defrost, and other systems to activate, deactivate and malfunction. This is incredibly distracting to the driver and creates unsafe driving issues.
Visibility, May 31, 2024

The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
Seats, May 29, 2024
While I was driving home from work the headrest deployed and hit me on the back of the head. I thought that I was hit from behind due to how my head jerk forward. When I inspected the headrest to try and reset it back to the normal position but realized that the plasitc clip had snapped off. In searching online I noticed that others were having the same issue. The vehicle did not and currently does not have any warning lights turned on.
Electrical system, May 28, 2024
I replaced the auxiliary battery, the main battery and the alternator, and my car is still losing power. I think that the voltage regulator that regulates how much power the battery gets is the actual issue. My car was manufactured in October 2017. Why wasn’t it apart of the original recall? I want this fixed. I shouldn’t have had to shell this money out when it’s a manufacturer’s defect.
Seats, May 27, 2024
Crash safety feature in the headrest deployed on its own. Dealer verified the headrest deployed but Jeep is refusing to repair/replace the unit. Jeep has a limited recall on this problem already but says my vehicle doesn't qualify (see attached). Dealer charged $209 for evaluation and wants an additional $290 to repair the headrest.
Engine, May 24, 2024
Jeep would not start. No warning lights. Towed to the mechanic. Mechanic said starter needed to be replaced. Once the starter was replaced the mechanic noted whitish smoke from exhaust when starting the Jeep. Further diagnosis he determined the Jeep needed a head gasket replacement. As other Jeep owners have stated this came with no warning. This is a safety issue in part because the vehicle is unable to start leaving the drivers potentially started in unsafe conditions. Jeep needs to post a recall for this issue. Please advise next steps?
Engine and engine cooling, May 23, 2024
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware of an unknown liquid on the ground. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed. The contact was informed that coolant was leaking into the engine. The contact was informed that the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000. The VIN was not provided.
Electrical system, Engine, May 22, 2024
Misfiring. Can't seem to get the check engine light off. Vehicle is too new to be having these sorts of issues. Diagnostic reader says 3rd cylinder misfire.
Engine, May 22, 2024
Crankshaft positioning sensor I’m sure my jeep falls into the recall I purchased it in march 24 and as soon as I drove off the lot with it the light came on got home scanned to find the cause and it’s the crankshaft sensor
Fuel system, Diesel, May 10, 2024
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Air bags, Seat belts, Other or unspecified, May 10, 2024, crash
Brakes failed when attempting to slow down, ABS kicked in on dry blacktop with no lights on dash before locking up and throwing the vehicle off of the road. Caused me to wreck into a tree head on at 50 mph. Seatbelt did not lock up and airbags did not deploy. Vehicle was totaled with heavy front end damage including a bent and snapped frame. Prior to incident had issues with low beam headlights not working/going out prematurely. Was told by Herrenstein Jeep in Chillicothe this was not an electrical issue. Low beam headlights failed again 2 weeks prior to incident.
Exterior lighting, May 8, 2024
The computer system keeps intermittently saying the turn signal bulbs are out turning off the front signal when you want to use it. The bulbs are a bunch of LED’s in the headlight and it shouldn’t turn off all of them even if one is out (they are all working properly regardless). It seems to be a fault within the computer system either inside the headlight assembly or in the car.
Other or unspecified, May 7, 2024
The infotainment center is defective and "ghost touches" all over the screen. This is a hazard when driving as the volume will be turned all the way up or the screen changes off of navigation mode to something else. Additionally, random phone calls will be made or if I'm on the phone, the call will be ended from the random touches. This ultimately results in distracted driving. The UConnect and CarPlay features are designed to minimize distracted driving, however this is simply counterproductive with the screen deficiencies.
Seat belts, May 2, 2024
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving or while the vehicle was parked, the passenger's side front seat belt had to be manually retracted. The contact stated that when the seat belt was manually retracted and the passenger moved forward, the seat belt failed to lock properly. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The local dealer was made aware of the failure and the part was ordered; however, the part was on backorder. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 195,000.
Seat belts, May 2, 2024
Passenger outer seat belt/retractor failed to retract. The belt has to be manually ratcheted back. Licensed repair shop removed & inspected mechanism for obstruction. Found no cause for failure, out of vehicle retracts properly. In a sudden stop the front passenger is not protected as the belt does not lock or retract without manual procedure. No warning lamps or codes. Contacted local dealership Service department for possible recall or customer satisfaction bulletin & was told that nothing was available for vehicle. Replacement part is on national backorder with no ETA according to local dealership Parts department. Hundreds of units are on backorder leading me to conclude that the manufacturer is aware of a safety issue but has not provided a resolution to consumers
Engine, May 2, 2024
Been in the shop & dealer multiple times! Check engine light on for misfire in cylinder one; oil pressure sensor code. Oil case housing was replaced due to cracking! And oil pressure sensor replaced also. But still isn’t fixed and now leaks oil. Head gasket problems. Shop informed me I’ll need to replace loosing coolant going into my head gasket. Around 140k miles but problems occurred before! Jeep please explain why this is happening! A lot of money to fix it and problem after problem
Electrical system, Engine, May 1, 2024
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine block and head are warped. Radio station keeps jumping to random station when I'm not even touching it. Auto On/Off light goes on intermittently. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This could be a failure and engine lock up had I not taken it in when first troubles came about. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes and I'm told the one dealership has 3 THREE other vehicles the same make and model with the same issue! I've also read on forums that many other people have this affect theirs as well. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Check engine light went on a few times, diagnosis showed multiple misfires in the cylinder. White smoke from the exhaust and vehicle shook and acted like it was going to stall upon starting.
Power train, Vehicle speed control, Apr 30, 2024
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while attempting to park and exit the vehicle through the front driver’s side door, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated in reverse. As a result of the failure, the driver's side door struck her arm and leg causing injuries. The contact stated that the vehicle drove off a cliff, and one of the tires experienced a blowout and the bumper became loose. The air bags had not deployed. Medical attention was not sought. The vehicle was towed to a dealer. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure; however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 36,000.
Other or unspecified, Apr 29, 2024
There is a clear goo dripping out of the radio screen. This radio screen controls everything in my vehicle air, heat navigation, emergency calls, etc. is safety issue as it jumps everywhere, calls 911. Changes Channels on its own turns on heat and ac on its own. This is a safely issue as it distracts me from focusing on driving. Jeep won’t replace it.
Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Apr 20, 2024
Intermittent extended crank on cold starts and developed a misfire in cylinder 3 and the developed a misfire and coolant leak in cylinder 1. The dealer told me it needs a new engine due to internal engine failure. Codes p0303 and p0300. Engine only has 62,000 on it.
Other or unspecified, Apr 8, 2024
The screen in my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee which controls everything (radio, navigation, climate controls, etc.) is delaminating. This causes the screens to constantly change and override all driver selections. This is a significant safety concern and has become extremely distracting while driving. I am surprised that this has not been a safety recall, as there have been many class action investigations. This is a known manufacturing issue especially in the 2018 models.
Other or unspecified, Apr 7, 2024
Head rest deployed
Seats, Mar 30, 2024
I was driving down the interstate and heard a very loud pop and got smacked in the back of the head. Later inspection seems that plastic ears connected to the foam portion of my headrest broke off both sides of a horizontal pin they were connected to
Other or unspecified, Mar 28, 2024
The radio touch screen is delaminating causing the radio and its other features to change without warning creating a distraction for the driver. Navagation destination changes loosing route information causing the driver to slow down or stop to try to return to the selected route information. Phone calls are disconnected and the phone then indiscriminately dials a new number from the contact list. You hang up that call and the screen redials the number. This basically negates the functionality of the hands-free feature. This creates serious safety issues when the unit overrides driver choices, as it is distracting because it requires the driver to correct the changes brought on by the malfunctioning screen.
