    - The high-voltage (HV) battery system and related hybrid control processor (HCP) software — repeatedly, across three separate incidents (Jan 2026 coolant heater/HCP fault, June 2026 front axle disconnect fault, Sept 2026 full HV battery replacement). Also affected: front axle disconnect actuator (drivetrain). Yes, available for inspection — vehicle is at Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Clifton Park. - Recall 68C: HV battery fire risk (owners told not to charge, park away from structures). Recall 73C: possible loss of drive power while driving, increasing crash risk. Recall 20C: head restraints failing to lock, increasing injury risk in a crash. - Yes — confirmed and repair attempted by an authorized Stellantis dealer (Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Clifton Park) on three separate repair orders (RO #106187, #109788, and the current September 2026 visit), with documented diagnostic trouble codes each time (P29BB, C1463, and the current critical HV battery code). - Inspected/repaired by the authorized dealer under manufacturer recall directives (FCA/Stellantis) each time. No police or insurance involvement, since no accident occurred. - Yes — Check Engine Light (Jan 2026, code P29BB), Service 4WD light (June 2026, code C1463), and Check Engine Light again (Sept 2026, current critical HV battery code). 2. Other or unspecified, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 31, 2026

CRITICAL VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAINT - CHRONIC MULTI-SYSTEM DEFECTS The vehicle is a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe operating under severe chronic safety non-compliance. The vehicle has an active, un-remedied engine block casting sand contamination fire/loss of propulsion and crash risk (FCA 78C / NHTSA 25V-766) listing 'Parts Unavailable.' It also carries an open side-curtain airbag deployment failure recall (NHTSA 26V-328). Furthermore, the vehicle experiences intermittent climate control and HVAC failures where the heating, air conditioning, and windshield defroster loops completely disable while in motion on the highway. This directly mirrors the safety vulnerabilities detailed in federal recall 24V-111 (FCA 04B), where faulty hybrid control processor software leaves the front windshield defogger inoperable. When this occurs, the windshield instantly fogs over at high speeds, resulting in an unrecoverable, immediate loss of forward visibility. In addition, temperatures in the summer are between 100 and 120 degrees. Having no air conditioning during this time is a health and safety concern. Dealership technicians state they 'cannot replicate' the issue, forcing me to operate a vehicle that routinely violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 571.103. Operating this highly volatile hybrid asset on a regular 4.5-hour remote highway commute to act as a caregiver for an elderly parent presents a life-threatening environment. The vehicle is a severe liability threat due to active fire and crash risk, structural airbag failure, and sudden visibility blinding.

  3. Electrical system, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 26, 2026

Since Nov 2025 there has been a recall with still no remedy for repair. The recall is a huge safety risk regarding the hybrid battery worrying me about it exploding or catching on fire as it warns me to not charge it in my garage and be careful charging it which is the only reason I purchased this hybrid.

  4. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 23, 2026

At the end of March 2026, the hybrid battery was replaced due to a recall by the dealership. After this, several software updates done, including the BCM, per technician's notes. In May 2026, my vehicle was found bricked in my driveway, unable to jump start, giving warnings regarding the dual charging system. After being towed to the dealership, they found my 12v battery was dead and stated that it needed to be replaced, which was done, with no further testing per technician's notes. Six weeks later, in July 2026, my vehicle was found bricked in my driveway again, giving the same warnings on the dashboard as it did in May. Once towed to the dealership again, with further parasitic testing, they found a "TSB about improper BCM software causing the 12v systems battery to be drained, as well as the kombi flickering which was also experienced while vehicle was in shop. TSB stated the BCM needs to be flashed." (taken from the technician's notes). As the dealership explained it to me, my vehicle failed to receive an update for the BCM, causing this glitch to drain my 12v battery. Due to my vehicle exceeding the 36,000-mile warranty, the dealership forced me to pay for the work done in both May and July, in addition to paying for a rental car while my vehicle was in the shop, even though the cause of this problem originated from the manufacturer, and was no cause of mine.

  5. Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 18, 2026

This vehicle has experienced continuous HV battery drainage since repaired under recall 68C on 2/9/26. Multiple follow up trips to the dealer and discussions with the Stellantis "Star team" have resulted in them informing me the vehicle is unfixable but "safe" to drive. They admit they have no idea what the problem is or how to solve it.

  6. Electrical system, Vehicle speed control, Fuel/propulsion system, May 28, 2026

Loss of propulsion while driving Yes it is available for inspection upon request Complete and total loss of propulsion/acceleration when pressing on gas pedal while driving and going into a left turn across oncoming traffic; driver and five year old passenger in the vehicle at the time of incident. Safely maneuvered the vehicle to the side of the roadway. Dealership has not been able to recreate the problem. Vehicle has been at dealership service department since May 14, 2026, immediately after incident. Vehicle was able to be driven to dealership after incident. Incident reported to Stellantis May 28, 2026. Stated that the report would be escalated and I would be contacted via email in 1-2 business days. No direct manufacturer inspection at this time, and police/insurance company were not contacted as there was no accident to report. Safety recall 73C in regard to this matter was completed September 26, 2025 according to Stellantis customer service and recall information available for the VIN of this vehicle. No warning lights/messages/symptoms of the problem prior to incident. During incident and after loss of propulsion started, "D" started flashing on the dash console and the gear shift knob, and I was unable to shift out of drive. After approximately 5 minutes, the vehicle put itself in park and engaged the emergency brake. Video of part of the incident available upon request

  7. Fuel/propulsion system, May 16, 2026

Hybrid/battery system is locked out and fails to operate in freezing weather (FORM status malfunction) Both winters I have owned this vehicle it will not operate on battery from mid-September until March or April. None of the ridiculous "fixes" do anything including oil changes, fuel additions or driving for 2 hours (!) to burn off oil in the fuel, all tried multiple times. I have dash photos and log of this malfunction. The dealership has been useless and unable to offer any fix or suggestions. JEEP Cares doesn't care.

  8. Electrical system, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Mar 24, 2026

I was driving on the highway when all of a sudden my gas pedal stopped propelling the car and the engine seemed to be off. I looked at the dash board and saw that the car was indicating it was off and that I needed to step on the brake and hit the ignition button to turn it back on. I barely had control of the car but was able to pull off to the side of the road. I then had to wait several minutes for the car to respond and turn back on. This has happened in the past to me with this car but this is the first time I knew I could report it here. This is a terrible vehicle and I’ve had nothing but safety issues with it since I leased it.

  9. Electrical system, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Mar 11, 2026

I am submitting this complaint regarding a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe that has been subject to multiple safety recalls involving the high-voltage battery system and a risk of fire or explosion. The manufacturer, Stellantis, issued safety instructions advising owners not to charge the vehicle and not to park the vehicle in garages or near structures or other vehicles due to the potential fire risk. It says "Sand from the casting process can contaminate internal engine components, leading to a catastrophic engine failure, which can result in a vehicle fire or an unexpected and unrecoverable loss of propulsion. These instructions significantly restricted the normal use of the vehicle and created serious safety concerns. I have young kids Additionally, the recall notice stated that a remedy for the defect was not available for an extended period of time. Despite the seriousness of the defect and the safety warnings issued, the vehicle remained without a repair solution for months.Jeep has now discontinued the vehicles altogether with no solution for the vehicle. Due to these conditions, the vehicle could not be safely operated or used for its intended purpose. The unresolved safety defect effectively rendered the vehicle unsafe and unusable. I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration review this matter and the impact that these unresolved safety defects have had on vehicle owners. I believe the situation raises significant safety concerns regarding vehicles that remain in use while a dangerous defect exists without an available remedy. Please let me know if additional documentation is required. I am willing to provide recall notices, written manufacturer communications, and other supporting documentation. 10. Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Mar 9, 2026

My car is a plug in hybrid and hybrid batteries have molars been replaced prematurely. This car has completely lost all power 3 times while I was driving and I had to have it towed to a Jeep certified dealer and it shat in the shop for 18 weeks. It has been in the shop 6 times and I haven’t even had it a year. It has had multiple recalls on this car and it’s still scary to drive. I don’t feel safe in it at all.

  11. Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Feb 28, 2026

Since I first leased my vehicle in May of 2023, I have received over 7 safety recalls. At least 2 of which are related to the main battery of the hybrid power system. Ever since I got the first one, I was recommended to park my car outside my house for risk of fire while parked. The latest recall, which has not been resolved involved the battery again and after taking the car to the dealer, the battery did not pass the test and the dealer requested I leave the car with them and advised this will take about a month to correct if they can correct it at all.

  12. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Fuel/propulsion system, Feb 19, 2026

On December 17, 2025, I brought my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (30th Anniversary Edition) to Los Angeles Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for safety recall 68C involving the high-voltage (HV) battery. The dealer performed the required recall software update/flash and diagnostic and confirmed the vehicle failed 68C, meaning the HV traction battery pack requires replacement. The vehicle remains at the dealer and is available for inspection. I cannot take the vehicle home even if I tried: per the recall process it must remain at the dealer once it fails, and the software flash/diagnostic effectively “bricked” the vehicle, rendering it undriveable until the HV battery is replaced. This defect involves the HV battery, a critical energy-storage component with serious safety implications. The problem has been confirmed by an authorized dealer; no police/insurance inspection. The dealer initially stated the battery would arrive around January 12, 2026, but it did not. At ~4 weeks out of service I called the dealer for an update—no ETA, status, or tracking. The dealer has never proactively contacted me. At ~8 weeks I called Jeep Cares—no ETA, tracking, or meaningful update; they only contacted the dealer. I am still making payments on a vehicle immobilized at the dealer for ~9 weeks due to the recall remedy delay. I also did not receive the $100 recall compensation gift cards and Jeep Cares has not resolved that. I am filing this complaint because the recall remedy is not being provided within a reasonable time, leaving me without transportation and without any timeline for a critical safety-recall repair.

Event 2 – Complete Stall / Electrical Blackout at Highway Speed Date: January 21, 2026Location: Interstate 19, Arizona While traveling at highway speed, the vehicle experienced sudden and complete loss of propulsion. Engine power shut off while in motion. Instrument cluster and electrical systems went fully black. Vehicle would not restart. Power steering response was minimal. Brake response was significantly reduced.• Hazard lights were inoperative shortly after the stall and remained in complete blackout. The loss of propulsion and electrical systems occurred in active highway traffic, creating multiple immediate exposure hazard. A manufacturer-directed tow was initiated following the event. Post stall Service Following the Jan 6 event Service records reflect replacement of the hybrid battery following shutdown and low voltage findings. It further states they performed safety recalls and software updates that did not address the issues. The dealer was notified immediately, and they disengaged. Subsequent dealership communication indicated refusal to continue diagnostic or warranty involvement. The loss of propulsion and electrical systems occurred in active highway traffic, creating multiple immediate exposure hazard. A manufacturer-directed tow was initiated following the event.Safety Concern Primary concerns include: Unexpected propulsion loss at highway speed. Total electrical system breakdown causing a red turtle event during motion. Reduced braking and steering control during stall. Non restart condition in traffic. Video captures moment Severe abnormal tire wear potentially indicating suspension instability.

Waited for of a month from the time I called for service for Jeep to address recall High-Voltage Battery Fire Risk NHTSA Campaign: 25V741 / Manufacturer Recall 68C Upon leaving the service department at Salerno & Duane jeep the issue was unresolved. Service tech was expecting the customer to pay for an added oil change due to the recall which should be the responiblity of Jeep.

Jeep electrical system shut down in the parking lot of a shopping mall in Parmus NJ in Dec-24, Jeep service department couldn't identify the issue and was left unresolved.

  16. Power train, Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Feb 2, 2026

I am reporting a serious safety issue involving my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee hybrid. The vehicle has experienced repeated stalling and loss of propulsion while driving, including in active traffic and in a school pickup line. The vehicle has unexpectedly failed to accelerate or start, creating dangerous situations for myself, my passengers, and surrounding vehicles. The vehicle has stalled in traffic and at low speeds without warning. On multiple occasions, it lost propulsion while driving, requiring me to stop unexpectedly. One incident occurred in a school pickup line, causing traffic disruption and creating a safety risk with children present. In addition, the vehicle is subject to a high-voltage battery safety recall due to fire risk. I have been advised that the vehicle is unsafe to park in a garage, and I am concerned about the risk of fire. At this time, there is no permanent repair available for the recall. Despite reporting these issues and seeking service, the safety defects remain unresolved. The combination of stalling, loss of propulsion, and fire risk makes the vehicle unsafe to operate and unsafe to park. I am requesting that NHTSA review this matter as a safety defect involving loss of power, stalling, and fire risk.

  17. Electrical system, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 11, 2026

For the second winter (2 out of 2) this vehicle has entered FORM mode - Fuel Oil Refresh - and fails to operate as a hybrid car until- if last year was the indicator - Spring and warmer weather. Ostensibly due to running in electric mode for too long, FORM is an engine and fuel safety measure. Since this vehicle was under recall 68C until earlier this week and had not been operable in electric mode at all since September, this excuse fails demonstrably. It has been in FORM since the recall was completed. Having a Jeep in winter that is not operable in electric mode in snow and ice when the potential exists that gas mode doesn't function and the 24 "reserve" miles are not available in electric mode, poses a significant risk. Secondarily, in last winter and this, hybrid use is unavailable for months.

  18. Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 6, 2026

Local Dealers are unable to resolve the recall on timely basis due lack of parts, lack of loaner or rental cars. Weather, sense of urgency. This is a serious safety recal of potential battery fire and suddenly stop while in motion. Need to do something!

  19. Electrical system, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Dec 26, 2025

On approximately November 15th 2025, I took my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xE In for a routine oil change and tire rotation to Fred Martin Super Store in Barberton , Ohio. Upon completion on the service I was told that there was a recall on my vehicle and I was not to park in my garage or plug the vehicle in due to risk of fire coming from the Hybrid Battery. I immediately called the service department at Fred Martin Super Store in Barberton Ohio to see if this recall was accurate. The Service Department Rep did confirm verbally that there was a recall and again NOT TO PARK IN MY GARAGE OR PLUG THE VECHILE IN DUE TO FIRE RISK. I was told the parts were not available to fix the problem at this time. This vehicle is not safe to have on or near my property and is not functioning the way it is intended. I have contacted Jeep multiple times and filed multiple grievances to ask for a vehicle buy out or a lease termination with out penalty and have been denied. This repair has not been done or remedied in a timely manner, and is still unsafe to have or drive.

  20. Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Dec 3, 2025

My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (VIN [XXX] ) is affected by two separate federal safety recalls involving the high-voltage battery: Recall 95B / NHTSA 24V-720 and the newly issued Recall 68C / NHTSA 25V-741. Both recalls warn of a potential vehicle fire and instruct owners to stop recharging the battery and to park the vehicle away from structures and other vehicles due to fire risk. These warnings appear directly in the recall notices I received. Recall 95B / NHTSA 24V-720 states that the battery pack may contain cells susceptible to separator damage which, combined with internal cell interactions, may lead to a vehicle fire. Owners are advised not to recharge and to park away from structures. Recall 68C / NHTSA 25V-741 states that under normal vehicle operation, the high-voltage battery may become damaged and lead to a vehicle fire, again instructing owners not to recharge and to park away from structures. These are virtually identical safety defects occurring back-to-back in the same high-voltage battery system. The 68C recall states explicitly that no remedy is currently available and there is no ETA, leaving me with a vehicle that cannot safely be parked at my home, charged, or operated as intended. I am now unable to use the hybrid/electric functionality at all, despite paying a premium for a plug-in hybrid vehicle. I am forced to operate the vehicle only in degraded gasoline mode with significantly reduced functionality and safety. The ongoing fire risk, inability to recharge, and requirement to park away from cars and buildings create a daily hardship and significant safety concern for my family. This is a serious safety defect affecting the same critical system twice in less than a year, and with no available remedy the vehicle remains unsafe to charge, unsafe to park near structures, and unable to function as advertised. I am requesting NHTSA review due to repeated fire-risk recalls, lack of a repair, and the substantial ongoing safety risk. 21. Steering, Exterior lighting, Fuel/propulsion system, Nov 25, 2025

While my wife was driving our 2023 plug-in hybrid SUV, the vehicle suddenly lost all power steering assist. The steering wheel became extremely hard to turn and she could not safely control the vehicle. I had to verbally guide her to pull over into a very unsafe area because the vehicle became nearly impossible to steer. The failure happened instantly with no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms. The vehicle was completely undriveable. I had to call a tow truck and pay out of pocket to have it towed directly to an authorized dealer. We were forced to take an Uber home. The dealer confirmed that this model currently has multiple active safety recalls, including recalls involving high-voltage battery fire risk and potential loss of propulsion, and that they could not inspect the vehicle immediately due to limited staffing. This incident posed a significant crash and injury risk because the driver was unable to steer the vehicle with normal force. The sudden loss of steering assist created a dangerous situation on a public road and required emergency towing. The vehicle is now at the dealership awaiting inspection, and the failure can be inspected upon request.

  22. Electrical system, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Nov 21, 2025

I am reporting ongoing safety concerns with my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (VIN: [XXX] ) related to repeated high-voltage battery defects and loss-of-power risks. The vehicle has already been subject to NHTSA Recall 25V576 (FCA 73C), which I completed, but the underlying electrical/battery issues continue to raise serious safety concerns. As of November 2025, my vehicle is now listed under NHTSA Recall 25V776 (FCA 68C), which involves a defect inside the high-voltage battery cells that can lead to a vehicle fire even when parked and turned off. Stellantis has instructed owners not to charge the vehicle and to park it outdoors, indicating a significant and ongoing safety risk. No remedy is currently available. Additionally, a separate recall—NHTSA 25V766 (FCA 78C)—was recently announced for 2023–2025 Grand Cherokee 4xe vehicles regarding potential engine contamination that can cause engine failure or fire. While my VIN is not yet listed under 25V766, my model year and 2.0L hybrid powertrain fall within the affected range. These overlapping recalls, combined with recurring electrical issues across the 4xe lineup, reflect a broader pattern of safety defects that place owners at risk. The cumulative trend is alarming: multiple consecutive battery-related fire recalls, prior software updates that failed to resolve the issue, and now possible engine contamination. These issues continue to undermine confidence in the vehicle’s safety, reliability, and long-term performance. I am submitting this complaint because the vehicle remains subject to an open fire-risk recall with no repair available, and the expanding list of related recalls suggests a systemic problem with the Jeep 4xe’s high-voltage and engine systems. I am seeking NHTSA’s further review and investigation. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  23. Electrical system, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Nov 14, 2025

This vehicle is a danger to drive, and there is no information on when they will fix it. I have taken the battery in to fix it before and it took over 2 weeks to repair, and more problems with more recalls. The engine is said that it can cause fire like the battery. This vehicle is not safe to have and continues to be a severe safety problem for me and my family, Two of the recalls right now they have no idea how to fix. It is not fair that I am paying for this vehicle and I can't even drive it.

  24. Fuel/propulsion system, Nov 10, 2025

Monday, November 3rd, 2025 In electric mode - I drove the vehicle forward out of a parking spot. The vehicle made three very large lurches over a 200 foot length of parking lot, enough to bang drivers and passengers heads hard against the head rests each with a loud clunk. Within seconds after the third lurch, the car went into gas/oil refresh mode (which transitions the vehicle from electric mode to gas mode). At that point the accelerator became unresponsive with RPMs hovering just over 1000. After multiple successive press, hold and releases of the accelerator, I took my foot off thinking I had lost all power and was preparing to shut the vehicle off. Before I could, the car began accelerating quickly forward without my foot on the accelerator. This lasted for 1 - 2 seconds before the car stopped accelerating and I was able to use the brakes to stop it. Had this not been late evening (9:45p EST) - the parking lot would have been full of pedestrians and other vehicles which would have caused a collision with other vehicles, or worse caused me to strike a pedestrian. I had no control over the vehicle. I put the vehicle in park and shut it down. After a minute, I restarted the vehicle and brought it home. The check engine light has been lit since. At this time (Monday, November 10th), the vehicle is still at the dealership (brought in Wednesday, November 5th) being investigated for this as well as the transmission (?) issue that was causing the lurching described.
