  9. EquipmentDec 21, 2017

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

If the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.

Chrysler will notify owners instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began February 14, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or Kidde customer service service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. 10. Power train, automatic transmission, lever and linkage, column shiftDec 20, 2017

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 10,000 lbs, 2011-2017 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, 2009-2017 Ram 1500 and 2010-2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, all equipped with a column shifter. Pushing the brake pedal for prolonged periods when the vehicle is running and in PARK may cause the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) pin to stick in the open position. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.

Being able to shift the transmission without pushing the brake pedal and/or without a key in the ignition can increase the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, inspect the BTSI, and, as necessary, replace it, free of charge. The recall began February 26, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T79.

  11. Air bagsMay 9, 2017

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and 2014-2016 Ram 3500 vehicles. Certain driving conditions, such as driving off-road or debris striking the vehicle may cause the roll rate sensor to trigger a fault within the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). If this fault occurs, the rollover side curtain air bag and the seat belt pretensioner will be disabled from deploying.

If the rollover side curtain air bags and seat belt pretensioners are disabled, there is an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of a crash that necessitates activation of these safety systems.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the ORC software, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T25.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ram 1500 Quad Cab trucks manufactured August 26, 2013, to August 8, 2015. The affected vehicles are equipped with side air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) that may not fully overlap the C-pillars in the event of a vehicle crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

In the event of a vehicle crash, if a SABIC does not inflate as intended, there is an increased risk of injury to the rear seat occupant.

Chrysler will notify owners, dealers will inspect the right and left side air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) for proper orientation and a foil patch will be installed on both sides of the headliner. One or both of the air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) will be replaced if necessary. The recall began on October 7, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. 16. Electrical system, 12v/24v/48v battery, cablesAug 14, 2015

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ram 1500 diesel 4x2 trucks manufactured August 8, 2013, to July 2, 2015. The affected vehicles have a battery harness that may rub against the frame bracket for the right engine mount resulting in an electrical short.

If the harness shorts, the vehicle may stall and there is an increased risk of a fire.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to confirm that the battery harness is correctly routed and secured. Any harness that shows evidence of wear will be replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on October 8, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R43.

The affected vehicles are equipped with radios that have software vulnerabilities that can allow third-party access to certain networked vehicle control systems.

Exploitation of the software vulnerability may result in unauthorized remote modification and control of certain vehicle systems, increasing the risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify and mail affected owners a USB drive that includes a software update that eliminates the vulnerability, free of charge. Optionally, owners may download the update to their own USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on August 25, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R40.

THEY TOLD ME THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY LOOSE PINS IN A CONNECTOR AND A LOOSE GROUND WIRE. I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM LIKE THIS AND THE SUDDENNESS OF THIS PROBLEM WAS SCARY.

THE BRAKE PEDAL ON THIS GENERATION OF RAM 1500 PICKUPS SITS CONSIDERABLY HIGHER THAN THE GAS PEDAL. THIS MEANS WHEN DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, IF YOU QUICKLY HAVE TO MOVE TO THE BRAKE, YOUR FOOT CAN BECOME STUCK UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKE PEDAL SHOULD BE LOWERED AS ITS HEIGHT IS TOO HIGH. RAISING THE GAS PEDAL WOULD MAKE IT TOO HIGH AS WELL CREATING A DIFFERENT PROBLEM. THERE ARE MANY DISCUSSIONS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.

32 GALLON OPTIONAL FUEL TANK INSTALLED. DASH BOARD FUEL GAUGE INDICATOR SHOWS E FOR EMPTY AND ZERO MILES TO EMPTY ON DIGITAL DISPLAY. FILLED 32 GALLON TANK AND IT ONLY TOOK 25.7 GALLONS. I LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK AND CONFIRMED I HAVE A 32 GALLON TANK. REPORTED TO CHRYSLER 1-800-763-8422 IN MAY OF 2016 BUT I COULD NOT DEAL WITH THE ISSUE UNTIL OCTOBER 2016. I TOOK TRUCK TO LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER IN (JOE MACHENS) COLUMBIA, MO MID OCTOBER 2016. THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. CHRYSLER STATED THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT HAVE NO FIX AS OF 11/21/2016. VERY POOR COMMUNICATIONS COMING BACK TO ME FROM CHRYSLER ENHANCED CUSTOMER SERVICE. I HAVE SPOKE WITH KAITLYN, KENYA AND VERONICA OVER THE PAST MONTH ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH NO TIME FRAME WHEN CHRYSLER WILL HAVE IT RESOLVED. LAST PERSON I SPOKE WITH RYAN AT 1-800-763-8422 EXTENSION 40614. HE STATED WOULD CALL ME BACK WITHIN 24 HOURS WITH ANSWERS. THAT WAS TWO WEEKS AGO. I AM GETTING THE RUN AROUND. I HAVE A STRONG FEELING THEY ARE NOT GOING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. TWO CASE NUMBERS HAVE BEEN ISSUED BY CHRYSLER TO ME. REF # 29319235 WHICH THEY CLOSED. ALSO 30324341 WHICH SHOULD CURRENTLY BE OPEN. THANK YOU FOR ANY PRESSURE YOU CAN PLACE ON CHRYSLER TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RESOLVED SOONER VERSUS NEVER.

TRUCK HAD A LEAK BEHIND THE DASH WHICH COULDN'T BE REPAIRED AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. MOISTURE WITHIN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK HAS CAUSED ANYTHING METAL IN THE CAB TO RUST AND HAS ALSO AFFECTED SOME ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. I NOTICED THE LEAK MORE WHILE THE TRUCK WAS STATIONARY DURING HEAVY RAINS/SNOW. LEAK WAS NOTICED IN OR AROUND 11/2015 AND CONFIRMED IN 1/2016 AND IS NOW ASSUMINGLY REPAIRED. RUST IS A MAJOR CONCERN ALONG WITH MOISTURE THAT MAY HAVE AN AFFECT ON ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OF THE VEHICLE.

I HAVE A 2015 DODGE RAM 1500 EXPRESS, I'VE HAD MECHANICAL ISSUE WITH THE TRUCK FROM THE VERY START OF OWNING THE TRUCK. THE BIGGEST AND LONGEST LASTING ISSUE HAS BEEN WITH THE KEY FOB GETTING STUCK IN THE TRUCK. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN THAT THE TRUCK ISN'T TELLING ITSELF THAT THE IS IN PARK SO IT WONT RELEASE MY KEY. THIS CAUSES ME TO HAVE TO TURN THE TRUCK ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES MOVE THE TRUCK AND SHIFT BACK INTO PAR BEFORE IT WILL RELEASE THE KEY. THE DEALERSHIP HAS SEEN THIS PROBLEM HAPPEN IN PERSON BUT THEN TELLS ME THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING IT. SO THEY REPLACE SOME RANDOM PART HOPING IT WILL FIX THE ISSUE. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 03/2016 AND HAS REQUIRED THE TRUCK TO BE IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP FOR DAYS AND WEEKS. DODGE HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I'VE CONTACTED DODGE CUSTOMER CARE TWICE OPENED TWO CUSTOMER CARE TICKETS AND ALL I HEAR FROM DODGE IS TAKE IT BACK TO SHOP SO THEY CAN LOOK AT IT. I'VE HAD CLOSE TO SEVEN DIFFERENT ITEMS REPLACED ON THE TRUCK AND HAVE TO SPEND MY OFF DAYS DRIVING BACK AND WORTH TO THE DEALERSHIP OVER THE PAST SEVEN MONTHS. I'VE BEEN SPEAKING WITH DODGE CUSTOMER CARE SINCE 05/2016 TRYING TO GET THIS FIXED BUT THEY DON'T SEEM WILLING OR CARE TO GET THE TRUCK FIXED. THEIR ANSWER IS THEY CANT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE SO THEY CANT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT I'VE SHOWN VIDEOS, RECORDED EVERY TIME THE KEY GETS STUCK BY NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE, DODGE DOESN'T SEEM TO CONCERNED WITH FIXING MY ISSUE. WHEN MY "CUSTOMER CARE" REP CALLS ME FROM DODGE SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHERE MY TRUCK IS. I HAVE DETAILED RECORDS OF EVERY TIME THE KEY HAS GOTTEN STUCK, I'VE DROPPED MY TRUCK OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP, OR I'VE SPOKEN TO SOMEONE REGARDING Y TRUCK. I JUST WANT MY TRUCK FIXED. *TR

THIS VEHICLE WAS LEASED FROM MID COUNTRY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP ON 12/16/2015 AS PART OF AN EIGHT VEHICLE FLEET. ON 10/5/2016, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND JUMPER CABLES WERE REQUIRED TO START THE ENGINE. VEHICLE OPERATOR IS CURRENTLY DELIVERING THE VEHICLE TO THE MID COUNTY DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THE OPERATOR REPORTS THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS ERRATIC - THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOT WORKING, THE TACHOMETER IS NOT WORKING, THE ODOMETER IS NOT WORKING, INDICATOR PANEL LIGHTS ARE FLICKERING, AND SEAT BELT ALERT SYSTEM IS TURNING ON WITHOUT CAUSE. MECHANICS REPORT WILL BE PROVIDED AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE. WHILE THIS IS THE FIRST MALFUNCTION ON THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE, IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT OUR FLEET CONSISTS SOLELY OF RAM 1500S, WITH SEVEN BEING 2016 MODELS AND ONE 2015. BATTERY AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE HAS BEEN PERVASIVE THROUGHOUT OUR ENTIRE FLEET.

AT 24300 MILES THE ENGINE BEGAN VIBRATING VERY HARD AND THEN QUIT. AFTER CHECKING THE OIL, IT WAS GOOD, I CREPT THE TRUCK TO A CONVENIENCE STORE AND CALLED AAA. TOWED VEHICLE TO NEAREST CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. THEY DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH CERTIFIED TECHS TO FIX MY TRUCK WITHOUT IT BEING AT DEALER FOR 2 MONTHS. SERVICE MGR CALLED AROUND AND FOUND A DEALER WHO COULD REPAIR TRUCK. METAL PIECES INCLUDING BEARINGS WERE FOUND IN THE OIL PAN. CHRYSLER REPLACED THE ENGINE UNDER WARRANTY. NO EXPLANATION WAS GIVEN AND WHEN ASKED IF THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED ON THE NEW ENGINE RECEIVED NO ANSWER. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE ENGINE FAILER OR WHETHER RAM HAS FIXED THIS EVER OCCURRING AGAIN.

EVENT: ON SEPTEMBER 7TH AT APPROXIMATELY 07:16PM MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING ON HWY 380 AT MILEPOST 44 IN A REMOTE PART OF NEW MEXICO BETWEEN ROSWELL AND SAN ANTONIO. OUR SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH. WE HAD BEEN TRAVELING FOR 6 DAYS AND APPROXIMATELY 2000 MILES BETWEEN VANCOUVER, WA AND THE LOCATION THE ENGINE FAILED. THE ENGINE ON MY 2015 RAM ECODIESEL BEGAN MAKING A GROANING SOUND. NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON MY DASH AND WITHIN MINUTES THE SOUND BECAME LOUDER AND THE ENGINE WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY. FINALLY, THERE WAS A LOUD "BANG" AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER. AGAIN, NO WARNING LIGHTS AND NO INDICATION OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING. ONCE THE CAR ROLLED TO A STOP A "LOW OIL PRESSURE" LIGHT FINALLY APPEARED ON THE PANEL. THE TRUCK WAS INOPERABLE AND CAME TO A REST IMPEDING TRAFFIC.I PULLED THE OIL DIPSTICK AND TOOK THREE READINGS AND THE OIL RESERVOIR WAS FULL. WE PUSHED THE UCONNECT "ASSIST" BUTTON AND A TOW TRUCK WAS SUMMONED. WE WERE TOWED TO SIERRA BLANCA RAM DEALERSHIP IN RUIDOSO, NEW MEXICO. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE ENGINE THEY DISCOVERED THE NUMBER 5 CYLINDER HAD EXPLODED AND CRACKED THE ENGINE BLOCK IN THE PROCESS. THE MECHANIC TOLD US THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED CHRYSLER WARRANTY AND AS OF 09.17.16 WE STILL HAVE NO ANSWER FROM CHRYSLER ON WHETHER THEY WILL APPROVE A NEW ENGINE. THE MECHANIC HAS TOLD ME SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST WEEK THAT CHRYSLER WILL NOT APPROVE REPLACEMENT OF A NEW ENGINE UNTIL SEVERAL MORE "PICTURES AND DOCUMENTATION" CAN BE SUBMITTED. THIS, DESPITE THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDATION THAT WE NEED A FULL ENGINE REPLACEMENT IMMEDIATELY AND THERE IS NO OTHER OPTION THAN A FULL ENGINE REPLACEMENT.

VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK TO DEALER WHO NOTICED BLACK SLUDGE IN COOLANT. I WAS TOLD IT WOULDN'T BE UNDER WARRANTY AND SOMEONE HAD SABOTAGED TRUCK. I TOLD THEM IT LOOKED LIKE OIL IN COOLANT AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS. FAULTY OIL COOLER LED TO OIL IN EVERY PART THAT ENGINE COOLANT ENCOMPASSES. THIS LEADS TO THE TRUCK OVERHEATING VERY QUICKLY AT TIMES. POSSIBILITY OF COOLANT IN THE ENGINE BLACK AS WELL, THEY CANNOT PROVE OTHERWISE WHICH COULD LEAD TO CRACKED ENGINE BLOCKS. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR APPROX 75 DAYS AND THEY HAVE REPLACED NUMEROUS PARTS WITH NO REMEDY TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUING TO COME ON. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN LIGHT ORIGINALLY CAME ON. IT'S NOW BEEN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS AND I HAVE RESEARCHED AND DISCOVERED HUNDREDS OF OTHER CASES. THIS IS A FAULTY OIL COOLER IN 2014-2017 MODELS OF THE DODGE ECO DIESEL 1500 PICKUP. FCA PUT ME OFF FOR WEEKS SAYING THEY WOULD CALL ME AND NEVER WOULD, THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO GIVE ME PAPERWORK DETAILING THE PROCESS AND FCA COULD NOT REACH THE DEALERSHIP FOR WEEKS. THIS TRUCK HAS AN ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ADDRESS.

ON 8/11/2016TRUCK STALLED/SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY; WAS ABLE TO RESTART IN ATTEMPTS TO MAKE IT HOME. THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO ACT UP AND LOW COOLANT LIGHT APPEARED APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES DOWN THE HIGHWAY. TRUCK WAS TOWED FROM HIGHWAY LOCATION TO LOCAL FORD/CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WHO LOOKED OVER AND STATED WAS A GALLON LOW ON COOLANT AND TO "WATCH." UPON RESEARCH ONLINE AND OTHERS HAVING ISSUE CHECKED THE EGR WHICH WAS SATURATED, RETURN BACK TO DEALERSHIP ON 08/18/2016 FOR REPAIR WITH ENGINE WARRANTY BUT INFORMED THIS WOULD NOT BE COVERED AS IT WAS A BASIC COMPONENT. CALLED DODGE WHO STATED SAME INFORMATION NON-COVERAGE OF ENGINE WARRANTY, AS IS A BOLT ON ITEM (ALTHOUGH IT RELATED TO ENGINE, IN FACT ONE EMPLOYEE WAS SHOCKED IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER ENGINE). FURTHER DISCUSSION THEY'D PAY HALF MINUS TAX AND TESTING, LEAVING A 840.72 SHOP BILL ON A 2015 TRUCK, WHICH WE PAID AND TRUCK RETURNED ON 08/26/2016.
