  9. Electrical system, wiringMay 17, 2018

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. 10. Power train, automatic transmission, lever and linkage, column shiftDec 20, 2017

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 10,000 lbs, 2011-2017 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, 2009-2017 Ram 1500 and 2010-2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, all equipped with a column shifter. Pushing the brake pedal for prolonged periods when the vehicle is running and in PARK may cause the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) pin to stick in the open position. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.

Being able to shift the transmission without pushing the brake pedal and/or without a key in the ignition can increase the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, inspect the BTSI, and, as necessary, replace it, free of charge. The recall began February 26, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T79.

  11. Air bagsMay 9, 2017

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and 2014-2016 Ram 3500 vehicles. Certain driving conditions, such as driving off-road or debris striking the vehicle may cause the roll rate sensor to trigger a fault within the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). If this fault occurs, the rollover side curtain air bag and the seat belt pretensioner will be disabled from deploying.

If the rollover side curtain air bags and seat belt pretensioners are disabled, there is an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of a crash that necessitates activation of these safety systems.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the ORC software, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T25.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling aftermarket Mopar Canvas Seat Covers for certain 2012-2016 RAM 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. These Mopar canvas seat covers were sold through Chrysler dealerships beginning October 15, 2015. The seat covers can impede the deployment of the seat thorax airbags.

If the seat cover impedes the air bag deployment, the seat thorax air bags may not provide adequate protection in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of a injury.

Chrysler will notify owners to remove the front seat covers and return them for a full refund. The recall began on July 1, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S30.

If the vehicle experiences a loss of power steering assist, extra steering effort will be required, especially at lower speeds, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the EPS unit, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on May 16, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S19.

  16. Tires, temporary/emergency spare tireOct 16, 2015

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2016 Ram 1500 trucks with a 5.7L engine and dual exhaust manufactured August 3, 2015, to August 10, 2015. The affected vehicles may be missing a heat shield for the spare tire.

Without a heat shield, heat from the exhaust system may damage the spare tire. When used, the damaged tire may have a tread separation or side wall rupture, resulting in a loss of control and an increased risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a spare tire heat shield if the vehicle is missing one. Vehicles that have already been sold with an excess of 50 miles will also have their spare tires replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on December 2, 2015. 1. Power train, Wheels, Service brakes, Jan 13, 2021

I WAS DRIVING ON I 90 IN INDIANA. IT WAS RAINING AND THE ROAD WAS STRAIGHT. THE SERVICE ABS LIGHT CAME ON. A SHORT TIME LATER, I HEARD A NOISE AND SLOWED DOWN TO 50. THEN THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE EXPLODED. THE TIRE WAS RELATIVELY NEW (PAST JULY]) WITH LOTS OF TREAD. I PULLED ON TO THE SHOULDER AND GOT OUT TO SEE THE BRAKE GLOWING RED HOT AND SMOKING. I BELIEVE THE NOISE I HEARD BEFORE THE EXPLOSION WAS THE CV JOINT DISINTEGRATING. TRAFFIC WAS FLYING PAST AT 70 TO 80 MPH. I WAS IN 2 WHEEL DRIVE. THE TRUCK IS A 4X4.

  2. Power train, Jan 13, 2021

ON OCTOBER 24, 2019 NHTSA ISSUED CAMPAIGN NO.19V757000, TO ADDRESS THE RAM 1500 ECODIESEL EGR COOLER MAY CRACK AND CAUSE FIRE. I OWN ONE OF THE RECALLED VEHICLES AND THOUGHT PROMPT ACTION WOULD BE TAKEN BY THE MANUFACTURER. I WAS INITIALLY TOLD THERE WAS A DELAY MANUFACTURING AND SHIPPING THE PARTS. I HAD MY NAME ADDED TO A LIST AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP LAST YEAR. UPON RECEIVING AN "URGENT SAFETY RECALL" NOTICE FROM FCA THIS WEEK, I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT COULD BE UP TO A YEAR (OCT - NOV 2021 TIMEFRAME) BEFORE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE TO FIX MY VEHICLE. BASED ON ONLINE REPORTS, SOME OWNERS ARE HAVING THEIR VEHICLES FIXED QUICKLY, WHILE OTHER OWNERS, LIKE MYSELF, ARE BEING FORCED TO WAIT A UP TO TWO YEARS TO HAVE THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ADDRESSED. ALLOWING A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD TO BE DRIVEN ON PUBLIC ROADS IS NOT SOMETHING I WOULD EXPECT THE NHTSA TO CONDONE. THIS RECALL, AND OTHER SAFETY RELATED ISSUES (I.E., CRANK POSITION SENSOR FAILURE) WOULD SUGGEST THAT THE NHTSA MUST CONSIDER TAKING MORE IMMEDIATE AND STRONGER ACTIONS AGAINST FCA TO EITHER CORRECT, IN A MORE TIMELY MANNER, OR BUY BACK THESE VEHICLES AND REMOVE THEM FROM OUR PUBLIC ROADS.

I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO A DEALER BECAUSE THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WOULDN'T CLEAN ITSELF. I FOUND OUT THERE WERE RECALLS PERTAINING TO THIS AND THEY WERE HANDLED AS FAR AS I KNEW. HOWEVER, JUST A FEW WEEKS LATER AS I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AT HOME I NOTICED SMOKE BARRELING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I IMEDIATELY TRIED TO SHUT IT OFF AND WHEN I DID IT WOULD REV UP HIGHER INSTEAD OF SHUTTING OFF. I GOT IT TO SHUT OFF FINALLY AND LEFT IT SITTING THERE OVERNIGHT UNTIL I COULD GET A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOW SO COMMON THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND NO IDEA OF WHEN THEY WILL BE ABLE TO GET IT. NOW ITS 3 WEEKS LATER AND I STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN MY TRUCK BACK.

IN ORDER TO REGISTER MY VEHICLE IN CALIFORNIA I WAS FORCED TO ACCEPT THE V08 EMISSIONS RECALL. AFTER THIS RECALL, I HAVE NOTICED SUBSTANTIAL LAG BETWEEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR AND BETWEEN WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES. I WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE IN PERFORMANCE BY BOTH THE DEALER AND FCA. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN TWO ACCIDENTS NOW BECAUSE I ATTEMPTED TO EXECUTE A LEFT TURN AND EVEN THOUGH I WAS DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE SLUGGISHLY ROLLED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND THEN 2-3 SECONDS LATER, ACCELERATED RAPIDLY MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN LANE INTEGRITY WHILE NAVIGATING THE TURN. I GENERALLY DRIVE FAIRLY MODESTLY WHICH IS WHY THERE HAVE BEEN ONLY TWO LIFE-THREATENING INCIDENTS IN THE PAST 3 OR SO MONTHS THAT I HAVE HAD THE "UPDATE". REALISTICALLY THOUGH, THIS FORCED UPDATE HAS CHANGED THE NATURE OF THE TRUCK AND MADE IT ULTIMATELY MORE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. ALL OF THIS BEHAVIOR BEGAN AFTER THE NOTED RECALL. I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED THIS COMPLAINT FROM OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL, AND THAT WHILE RAM WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, THEY HAD NO REMEDY AT THIS TIME. THE DATE MENTIONED IN THE REPORT IS SIMPLY OF THE MOST RECENT OF INCIDENTS THAT I MENTIONED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN THE DRIVE AND REVERSE POSITIONS, THE VEHICLE WOULD ERRONEOUSLY DRIVE WHILE THE DOORS WERE OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED IN 2018 UNDER AN UNKNOWN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER TO PREVENT THE FAILURE FROM OCCURRING. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER MOUNTAIN VIEW DODGE (7154 NASHVILLE ST. RINGO GA) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE BOTH NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.

2 MAJOR ISSUES: A- SINCE VEHICLE GOT COMPUTER SYSTEM UPDATED FOR THE EMISSIONS LAWSUIT - VEHICLE HAS LOST 70% POWER AT TAKE OFF. MEANING, I CURRENTLY HAVE A VERY HIGH RISK OF GETTING T-BONED AT INTERSECTIONS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DOESN'T TAKE OFF. I CURRENTLY HAVE A CLAIM OPEN WITH CHRYSLER BUT THEIR CASE MANAGER CLAIMS THAT PARTS TO FIX THE ISSUE IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE. THIS EMISSION UPDATE WAS DONE BACK IN JUNE 2019. B- VEHICLE STARTED TO OVERHEAT AND CREATE VERY HIGH COOLANT SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN. THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION DRIVEN AT APPROXIMATELY 45MPH, IF THE VEHICLE SITS IDLING YOU CAN'T TELL THE PROBLEM, ONLY WHEN DRIVEN. I HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND ADMITTED ON 10/31/2019. AFTER 63 DAYS AT THE DEALER AND SO MUCH BACK AND FORTH WITH CHRYSLER CASE MANAGERS AND SUPERVISORS "THIS PEOPLE IS EXTREMELY USELESS AND SHOULD NOT BE ASSIGNED TO HANDLE CASES SENSITIVE LIKE THIS ONE!" ON 01/03/2020 "63 DAYS AFTER CHECK IN DATE" THE TRUCK WAS RELEASE FROM THE DEALER WITH ABSOLUTELY NO REPAIRS MADE. THE VEHICLE THAT IS CURRENTLY OVERHEATING WITH VERY HIGH RISK OF GETTING CAUGHT ON FIRE HAS BEEN RELEASED TO ME SO I CAN TAKE MY KIDS TO SCHOOLS AND AND MY LIFE AND OTHER AT DANGER. THIS IS TERRIFYING! MAKES ME THINK THAT CHRYSLER WANTS TO DEAL WITH MUCH MORE COSTLY ISSUES WHEN THE WORST HAPPENS!

AFTER COMPLYING WITH THE V08 (AEM) SOFTWARE UPDATE DUE TO THE RAM ECODIESEL EMISSIONS UPDATE MY DRIVING EXPERIENCE/PERFORMANCE HAS CHANGED DRAMATICALLY. DURING ACCELERATION THEIR HAS BEEN ANYWHERE FROM 3-6 DELAY SECONDS BEFORE ADEQUATE POWER AND SPEED CAN BE FELT. THIS IS AT A FULL STOP SUCH AS A STOP SIN OR RED TRAFFIC LIGHT. DURING HIGHWAY TRAFFIC (PASSING) OR MERGING INTO A LANE IS WERE IS MOST NOTICEABLE. THIS FAILURE OCCURS EVEN WHEN ENGINE IS PROPERLY AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE AND IS WORSE RIGHT AFTER START UP. SINCE MULTIPLE PEOPLE USE THEIR TRUCKS FOR TOWING PURPOSES, THIS GREATLY INCREASES THE EFFECT AND EVEN FURTHER DECREASES THE PERFORMANCE THAT IS RELIED UPON. THE AEM SOFTWARE UPDATE SPECIFICALLY STATES "THE AEM IS NOT EXPECTED TO CHANGE ANY OF YOUR KEY VEHICLE ATTRIBUTES, SUCH AS AVERAGE FUEL ECONOMY, RELIABILITY, DURABILITY, VEHICLE PERFORMANCE, DRIVABILITY, ENGINE NOISE OR VIBRATION, OR OTHER DRIVING CHARACTERISTICS." THIS DIRECTLY CONTRADICTS THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REMEDY REQUIREMENTS. DUE TO THE FAILED INSTANT ACCELERATION AS WELL AS TAKING UP TO 3500 RPM BEFORE FORWARD MOVEMENT CAN BE ESTABLISHED IN SOME INSTANCES HAS LED ME TO FORMALLY CREATE AND RECORD A SAFETY CONCERN THAT REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. FAILURE TO DO SO PUTS OWNERS OF 2014-2016 RAM 1500'S THAT ARE AFFECTED BY THE AEM UPDATE AT RISK, NOT ONLY TO OURSELVES BUT TO THE OTHER DRIVERS AROUND US. BEFORE THIS UPDATE WAS CONDUCTED THERE WERE NO ENGINE/TRANSMISSION/PROPULSION RELATED ISSUES WHATSOEVER. LASTLY AS ANOTHER EFFECT BUT LESS IMPORTANT IS THE OBVIOUS DECREASE IN AND LOSS IN MPG. PLEASE HOLD FCA ACCOUNTABLE AND HAVE THEM ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BEFORE LIVES ARE FATALLY AFFECTED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, IT ROLLED OUT OF PARK WITH THE GEAR IN THE PARK POSITION. THE CONTACT TESTED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES TO SEE IF THE GEAR WAS IN PARK AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED WITH THE GEAR IN THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.

DID THE NEW ECODIESEL UPDATE AND NOW TRUCK LAGS DURING ACCELERATION. TAKES A SECOND OR 2 TO TAKE OFF. ALSO WITH THE EGR COOLER RECALL I'M LOSING COOLANT CAN POSSIBLY CAUSE A FIRE. FCA TOLD ME WHEN I CALLED TO CARRY A JUG OF COOLANT WITH ME TO REFILL AS NEEDED. I WOULD THINK I WOULD HAVE TO DO THIS ON A 3 YEAR OLD TRUCK.

  23. Power train, Dec 10, 2019

P026AB ERROR CODE FOR 3 WAY COOLANT BYPASS VALVE CAUSING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO BE ON ALL THE TIME. MECHANIC SAYS WON'T CAUSE HARM TO VEHICLE, BUT MIGHT EFFECT ABILITY TO DEFROST PROPERLY. RESEARCH SUGGESTS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS YEAR RANGE AND HAS BEEN A SAFETY RECALL IN PREVIOUS YEARS FOR MODELS OLDER THAN THIS.

  24. Power train, Dec 3, 2019

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER CALLED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS AN UNKNOWN RECALL THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NORTHWEST CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (832-912-2500, LOCATED AT 19616 NORTHWEST FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77065) TO BE REPAIRED, BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT KNOW THE SPECIFICS. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.

THIS 2016 3.0L ECO DIESEL IS A DEATH TRAP AFTER FCA REPROGRAMED THE SOFTWARE 2 MONTHS AGO. 2-4 SECOND HESITATION WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE GAS. THE TRUCK JUST SITS THERE AND DOES NOT MOVE. IN TWO MONTHS I HAVE HAD 3 CLOSE CALLS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. EXTREMELY SCARY WHEN YOU HIT THE GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENS AND A CAR IS COMING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT YOU AT 55 MPH AND YOU'RE SECONDS FROM GETTING T-BONED. IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE PEOPLE START DYING IN THIS DEATH TRAP. THE DIESEL HAD MANY PROBLEMS BEFORE THEY REPROGRAMED IT. SINCE NEW THE TRUCK HAS GONE INTO LIMP MODE 4 TIMES WHERE THE ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON AND THE MOTOR SHUTS DOWN TO ABOUT 10 MPG. LAST TIME I ALMOST GOT KILLED ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. YOU'RE STUCK ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 5-10 MPH TRYING TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY WHEN CARS ARE FLYING PAST YOU AT 70 MPH. THESE 3.0L DODGE ECO DIESELS ARE VERY, VERY, VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. AFTER THE REPROGRAMING FROM FCA THEY HAVE A VERY DANGEROUS TURBO LAG TIME. FCA HAS DONE NOTHING TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. THE REPROGRAMING OF THE SOFTWARE MADE THEM WORSE AND MORE DANGEROUS. BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEY DESIGNED THIS ECO DIESEL, IT IS PRONE TO CATCH FIRE. ON MY TRUCK I HAD A FIRE UNDER THE HOOD AND A HOLE MELTED THROUGH THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. LUCKILY, THE TRUCK DID NOT BURST INTO FLAMES BUT IT WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR ALMOST 3 WEEKS BEING REPAIRED. THIS TRUCK IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THE TRUCK NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND IF FCA CAN'T FIX THEM, THEY NEED TO BUY THEM BACK AND GET THESE DEATH TRAPS OFF THE ROAD. SORRY, I CAN'T DESCRIBE JUST A SINGLE SPECIFIC INSTANCE, IT'S DANGEROUS EVERY TIME YOU GET BEHIND THE WHEEL. I WOULD LIKE TO MEET WITH THE PRESIDENT OF FCA AND HAVE HIM TAKE MY TRUCK FOR A DRIVE WITH HIS FAMILY IN IT AND THEN GIVE HIS OPINION AS TO THE QUALITY OF THIS ENGINE. I DO NOT ALLOW MY WIFE TO DRIVE THIS TRUCK AS IT'S A DEATH TRAP.
