  9. Electrical system, wiringMay 17, 2018

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

  10. Power train, automatic transmission, lever and linkage, column shiftDec 20, 2017

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 10,000 lbs, 2011-2017 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, 2009-2017 Ram 1500 and 2010-2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, all equipped with a column shifter. Pushing the brake pedal for prolonged periods when the vehicle is running and in PARK may cause the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) pin to stick in the open position. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.

Being able to shift the transmission without pushing the brake pedal and/or without a key in the ignition can increase the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, inspect the BTSI, and, as necessary, replace it, free of charge. The recall began February 26, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T79.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and 2014-2016 Ram 3500 vehicles. Certain driving conditions, such as driving off-road or debris striking the vehicle may cause the roll rate sensor to trigger a fault within the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). If this fault occurs, the rollover side curtain air bag and the seat belt pretensioner will be disabled from deploying.

If the rollover side curtain air bags and seat belt pretensioners are disabled, there is an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of a crash that necessitates activation of these safety systems.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the ORC software, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T25.

  16. Tires, temporary/emergency spare tireOct 16, 2015

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2016 Ram 1500 trucks with a 5.7L engine and dual exhaust manufactured August 3, 2015, to August 10, 2015. The affected vehicles may be missing a heat shield for the spare tire.

Without a heat shield, heat from the exhaust system may damage the spare tire. When used, the damaged tire may have a tread separation or side wall rupture, resulting in a loss of control and an increased risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a spare tire heat shield if the vehicle is missing one. Vehicles that have already been sold with an excess of 50 miles will also have their spare tires replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on December 2, 2015. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE COOLANT WAS VERY LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TATE DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (2903, 7429 RITCHIE HWY, GLEN BURNIE, MD 21061) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED MORE COOLANT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, AFTER 1,000 MILES, THE VEHICLE LOST COOLANT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO TATE DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM WHERE THE MECHANIC FOUND A LEAK IN THE EGR COOLER AND STATED THAT THE EGR CIRCUIT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, AFTER SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FRED FREDERICK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (39 WASHINGTON BLVD, LAUREL, MD 20707) WHERE THEY PERFORMED A PRESSURE TEST AND ADDED COOLANT. THE MECHANIC ALSO MENTIONED A WARRANTY ON THE DIESEL EMISSION. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.

  2. Engine, Sep 13, 2019

VEHICLE WAS IN A SETTLEMENT REGARDING THE ECODIESEL ENGINE. TO GET CLAIM PROCESSED A SOFTWARE CHANGE WAS REQUIRED. AFTER GETTING THE SOFTWARE CHANGE AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE TRUCK NOW HAS AN EXTREME ACCELERATION DELAY ESPECIALLY RIGHT AFTER STARTING. YOU CAN PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING REALLY HAPPENS, THEN YOU HAVE TO FLOOR IT TO GET IT TO MOVE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AT THE INTERSECTION COMING OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD. ON THIS PAST WEDNESDAY MORNING I HAD TO RUN OFF THE ROAD IN ORDER TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT AS MY TRUCK ROLLED ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND THEN WOULD NOT GET GOING. I TRIED TO PULL OVER AND THEN IT FINALLY HIT AND PUT ME IN A DITCH AS I WAS GETTING OUT OF THE WAY OF A CAR ABOUT TO HIT ME. THE PEOPLE I'VE TALKED TO AT THE SETTLEMENT AGENCY FOR FIAT CHRYSLER HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED TO ME THAT MANY HAVE COMPLAINED. IF IT ISN'T FIXED SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED (IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY BEEN)

  3. Power train, Engine, Sep 11, 2019

RAM WITH ECODIESEL ENGINE AFTER APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION DUE TO EPA SETTLEMENT. WHEN ENGINE IS NOT FULLY WARMED UP THERE IS EXCESSIVE (3-5 SECONDS) DELAY IN THROTTLE RESPONSE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITTION AT ANY INTERSECTION. WHEN APPLYING THROTTLE TO ENTER AN INTERSECTION AFTER STOPPING, THE VEHICLE SLOWLY MOVES FORWARD INTO THE INTERSECTION WITH NO THROTTLE RESPONSE FOR 3-5 SECONDS CREATING A COLLISION HAZARD TO OCCUPANTS AS WELL AS OTHER VEHICLES

  4. Power train, Engine, Sep 11, 2019

AFTER HAVING THE VO8 AEM DONE TO MY TRUCK, THE PERFORMANCE HAS DROPPED. THE LACK OF ACCELERATION WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC IS SCARY AT TIMES. IF YOU EVEN SO MUCH AS ROLL A STOP THE TRUCK SEEMS TO BE STUCK IN 3RD GEAR AND VERY SLOW TO ACCELERATE. FUEL CONSUMPTION IS GREATER CAUSING A DROP IN MPG BOTH WITH NORMAL DRIVING AND GETS WORSE THAN BEFORE THE UPDATE WHILE TOWING.

  5. Power train, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 11, 2019

I OWN A 2016 RAM 1500 ECO DIESEL. I RECENTLY GOT A RECALL (V08 I BELIEVE) THAT GREATLY EFFECTED THE THROTTLE RESPONSE AND FUEL MILEAGE ON MY TRUCK. I LOVE ON A BEND ON A STATE HIGHWAY AND IT HAS BECOME VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME TO PULL OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. WHEN I PRESS THE THROTTLE THERE IS A GOOD 5 SECOND DELAY BEFORE THE TRUCK ACCELERATES. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AS FCA HAS NOTIFIED DEALERS THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I TOOK MY TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES AND THAT IS THE RESPONSE THEY GAVE ME. WHEN I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK THERE WERE NO ACCELERATION ISSUES AND THE FUEL MILEAGE WAS 4-5MPG GREATER BEFORE THIS COMPUTER UPDATE. PLEASE FACILITATE A FIX FOR THIS BEFORE I GET HIT LEAVING MY HOUSE OR TURNING ONTO ANY STREET.

  6. Other or unspecified, Sep 11, 2019

SUDDEN STOP AT 75 MPH IN FREEWAY. SAFETY HAZARD! MY 2016 DODGE RAM SUDDENLY STOPS RANDOMLY WHEN GOING AT 75 MPH. IT HAS CAUSED SEVERAL PEOPLE TO ALMOST SLAM INTO MY TRUCK. ONE MAN WAS SO ANGRY I PULLED OVER AND TOLD HIM I WAS SO SORRY. THE GUY SAID THERE WERE NO BRAKE LIGHTS SO IT WAS DANGEROUS!!! I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THEY TELL ME SINCE IT DOESN'T GIVE THEM A CODE, THEY CANNOT PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. THE MANAGER AT THE SANTA CRUZ, CA DEALERSHIP TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE WITH A SCANNER ATTACHED; IT HAPPENED TO THEM BUT NO CODE APPEARS! AFTER THEY CHANGED A PART, THEY GAVE IT BACK BUT IT IS STILL DOING IT. THEY ARE RELUCTANT TO DO ANYTHING ELSE BECAUSE RAM DOESN'T WANT TO COVER THE COST. THIS IS MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION FOR OUR FAMILY'S LIVELIHOOD AND RAM DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO BE BOTHERED WITH IT, BUT IT'S A SAFETY MATTER. THIS IS A DODGE MATTER THAT MUST BE RESOLVED BY THEM. I DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE A FAULTY UNSAFE VEHICLE BUT I CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THAT VEHICLE FOR SAFETY AND ECOLOGICAL REASONS; I HOPE DODGE CAN BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR FIXING THIS ISSUE AND PROVIDING ME WITH A SUBSTITUTE FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL.

  7. Power train, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 11, 2019

V08 RECALL FLASH HAS MADE MY TRUCK MORE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THERE IS AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF LAG FROM THE ENGINE AND TURBO WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE. I AM THE SECOND OWNER, BOUGHT ON 7/24/19 AND THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TWICE ALREADY!

  8. Vehicle speed control, Other or unspecified, Engine, Sep 10, 2019

SINCE GETTING THE RAM ECO DIESEL MANDATORY RECALL / RE FLASH. I HAVE EXPERIENCED A "DEAD PEDAL." IT'S NOT AS BAD IN WARMER WEATHER BUT NOW WE ARE STARTING TO EXPERIENCE COLDER MORNINGS AND WINTER IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER. THE DRIVE-ABILITY OF THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND UNSETTLING. I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY FAMILY NOW.

  9. Vehicle speed control, Sep 10, 2019

AFTER THE NEW UPDATE THAT WAS FORCED ON THE ECO DIESELS OWNERS, I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATING AFTER STARTING UP AND TAKING OFF. WE HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS LAG IN ACCELERATION. IT GETS A LITTLE BETTER AS IT WARMS UP BUT NOT MUCH BETTER. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO GET OUT IN AN INTERSECTION OR GET TO THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. ONE TIME I WAS PULLING OUT INTO AN INTERSECTION AND I HAD THE PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR AND NOTHING, IF I WAS FURTHER BACK ON THE HILL I'D PROBABLY WOULD HAVE GONE BACKWARDS. STILL HAPPENS.

  11. Vehicle speed control, Sep 10, 2019

HAD THE RECALL V08 DONE AND NOW MY TRUCK LAGS POWER AND TAKES FOREVER TO ACCELERATE WHEN TURNING INTO TRAFFIC. IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE WHEN IT IS COLDER. IT ALSO HAS LOST POWER WHEN I'M TOWING. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT WITH MY FAMILY IN IT.

SUBSTANTIAL POWER LOSS DURING THIS TIME MAKING MERGING INTO TRAFFIC/ACCELERATING AT A NORMAL PACE DANGEROUS UNTIL TRUCK REACHES FULL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. LEAD TIME REQUIRED TO MERGE IS IS EXTREME WHEN ENGINE TEMPERATURE COLD. EXPONENTIALLY AFFECTED WHEN TRAILERING DURING THIS PERIOD AS WELL. TRUCK FEELS LIKE TAKING OFF FROM A STOP IN 5TH GEAR.

I PURCHASED MY DIESEL 2016 DODGE LARAMIE FROM DEALERSHIP 6 MONTHS AGO. ON THE STICKER IS STATED I WOULD GET AROUND 26 HIGHWAY MILEAGE AND AROUND 19 IN CITY. I WAS ACTUALLY GETTING THIS FUEL MILEAGE UNTIL I RECEIVED A EMISSION RECALL LETTER AND TOOK MY VEHILE IN TO HAVE A RECALL PART REPLACED. NOW I AM ONLY GETTING AROUND 18 HIGHWAY AND 14 CITY SINCE PART WAS REPLACED. I HAVE SINCE TAKEN IT TO 3 DEALERSHIPS TO HAVE THEM FIND THE PROBLEM AND ALL THEY CAN SAY IS THAT IT MUST BE THE RECALLED PART CAUSING THE LOWER FUEL MILEAGE. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS AN INJUSTICE AS I AM NOT GETTING THE STICKER GUARANTEED MILEAGE SINCE RECALL WAS FIXED. I WOULD LIKE THIS CORRECTED

DODGE RAM 1500 2016 WITH 45,000 MILES. I WAS DRIVING WITH 3/4 TANK OF GAS BUT FUEL GAUGE SUDDENLY READ EMPTY, FUEL SENSOR FAILURE WARNING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON,LOW FUEL LIGHT ON. I HAD TO BRAKE IMMEDIATELY THINKING GASOLINE WAS LEAKING. IT WAS A DANGEROUS STOP AND I ALMOST GOT HIT BY OTHER CARS. LUCKILY I ONLY GOT MINOR SCRATCH WHEN TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I SEARCHED THROUGH INTERNET AND SURPRISINGLY THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN SO COMMON SO MANY YEARS EVEN WITH NEW TRUCK MODELS. PLEASE MAKE IT A RECALL AND DON'T LET IT ROLL INTO THE NEW MODELS.

FIRST TIME PARKED WITH VEHICLE TURNED OFF AND WENT IN POST OFFICE GOT BACK IN TRUCK. IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN ON MADE A FUNNY SOUND AND LOW OIL PRESSURE CAME UP THEN LIGHT CAME ON, WAITED 10 MINUTES AND STARTED UP FINE. AROUND 2 WEEKS LATER DID IT WHILE DRIVING, HAD CRUISE SET AT 75, IN THE LEFT LANE PASSING 2 VEHICLES AND ENGINE SHUT OFF IT FLASHED LOW OIL PRESSURE, I COASTED TO RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY MADE CALLS AND WAITED 15 MINUTES AND IT RESTARTED. SCHEDULED AND MADE APPOINTMENT WITH RAM DEALERSHIP, AFTER CHECKING COMPUTER AND CHANGING OIL AND FILTER FOUND NOTHING. DEALERSHIP SAID SHOULD HAVE LEFT ERROR ON COMPUTER. PICTURE WAS TAKEN OF PROOF OF OIL LIGHT AFTER BEING SHUT DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY.TOOK TO DEALERSHIP ON 9/3/2019 WITH 40,727 MILES ON RAM 1500 ECO-DIESEL TRUCK DATES ARE 8/20 AND 8/25/2019 WHEN THIS OCCURRED.

DISPLAY SYSTEM, RADIO, NAV, REAR VIEW CAMERA, ECT. REAR VIEW CAMERA, SOMETIMES GOES ON WITH A SOLID GREEN SCREEN. THE RADIO SOMETIMES LOOSES IT PRESETS. THE NAV SOMETIMES WILL NOT TAKE AN ADDRESS. CHRYSLER STATES THERE IS AT LEAST 1 DOWNLOADABLE REPAIR BUT WANTS TO CHARGE FOR IT, APPROX. $125 AND IF THE DOWNLOAD DOES NOT WORK WORK AND IT MAKES THINGS WORSE, THEY STILL WANT THEIR MONEY FOR TRYING AND WILL NOT MAKE ANY REPAIRS.

THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BREAK OFF THE HEAD OF THE BOLT ON THE REAR CYLINDER ON EACH SIDE CAUSING AN EXHAUST LEAK BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND THE MANIFOLD ON THE 5.7L HEMI. THE DEALERSHIP SAID ITS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THOSE MOTORS BUT THERE IS NO RECALL.

DRIVING HOME FROM WORK 22 AUGUST 2019, AN 8 MILE DRIVE. I WENT TO ACCELERATE TO REACH POSTED SPEED LIMIT AFTER TURNING OFF OF A SIDE STREET ONTO MAIN ROAD. I HAD NO FORWARD MOMENTUM WHEN I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I ATTEMPTED SEVERAL TIMES TO MANUALLY SHIFT GEARS THINKING IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. THE ENGINE WOULD REV UP TO RPM BUT STILL BARELY ANY FORWARD MOMENTUM. I WAS LOSING SPEED QUICKLY. SOMETHING GRABBED MY ATTENTION, NOT SURE IF I HEARD SOMETHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY BUT I HAPPENED TO LOOK OUT MY REVIEW AND SIDE MIRRORS AND NOTICE A HUGE PLUME OF SMOKE EXITING MY VEHICLE. AT ABOUT THAT SAME MOMENT, I NOTICED A LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT FROM THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED INTO A DRIVEWAY AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS OFF, I STILL NOTICED A LARGE AMOUNT OF WHITE SMOKE BILLOWING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND FRONT WHEEL WELLS. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT TO BE A COOLANT HOSE RUPTURE DUE TO THE COLOR OF THE SMOKE/STEAM. I IMMEDIATELY JUMPED OUT AND OPENED THE HOOD THINKING IT WAS A COOLANT ISSUE. RIGHT AWAY I NOTICED A FLAME AT THE REAR OF THE ENGINE. I HAD NO ACCESS TO WATER WHERE I WAS LOCATED AND MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO BLOW IT OUT. IT WORKED FOR ME BUT PROBABLY ONLY BECAUSE I HAD GOT TO THE FIRE BEFORE IT WAS ABLE TO SPREAD TOO QUICK. FIRE/RESCUE WAS DISPATCHED, REMOVED ENGINE COVER AND NOTICED SMOLDERING PLASTIC/WIRE HARNESS AND DOUSED WITH 4-5 CUPS OF WATER UNTIL ALL TRACES OF FIRE WERE GONE. TOW TRUCK DELIVERED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP APPROX 10 MILES FROM WHERE VEHICLE WAS DISABLED. *DT *TR
