I live in a population of approximately 26,000+ people. This is wholly unacceptable when there are 5 dealerships who sell Ram vehicles (2 much closer) closer to my location. A major auto manufacturer should not be selling vehicle for which they don't provide reasonable service for in a populated area such as the ORegon coast. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I closed my tailgate and it sounded like it latched, but I got a warning as soon as I pulled out on the road that my tailgate was open. I pulled over but it still looked closed and didn’t fall when I pulled on it. I went to open the tailgate to try to shut it again but it wouldn’t open. I unlocked the car a few times and it still wouldn’t open. I had to push really hard and then pull the latch and it finally clicked and opened. Sometimes intermittently on the highway it will tell me my tailgate is not closed. This is a safety issue because if the tailgate opens while I’m driving down the highway and my bed load slides out it could harm someone else behind me.

The 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 experienced a similar malfunction as is stated in Recall B2A, which is for 2023 Ram Pickup Trucks. This instance also deals with the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) and the SCCM does not meet the "requirement for original equipment" as per Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard #108. When it malfunctions, the left turn signal flashes when the turn signal is in the left turn position and the neutral position. No signals turn on when in the right turn position. The SCCM was diagnosed with an "Internal Failure" by Mopar technicians at the local dealership including the vehicle flashing test code B2225. The new SCCM took about a month to come in and in that time, sometimes the turn signals functioned normally, which resulted in false confidence as it would again malfunction while driving. This issue is particularly dangerous because sometimes it works as it should and sometimes not. You can account for a completely broken SCCM with arm signals, but when it malfunctions at intermittent times, it results in an unsafe driving environment that you cannot plan for. In getting my vehicle repaired with a new SCCM, I requested for them to save the original SCCM that came with my vehicle at the time of purchase for an organization to further diagnose the problem if desired.

Every Ram 1500 around 30K miles cast iron exhaust manifold failure bolts brakes and/ or manifold cracks causing exhaust leak higher toxins in the air without going through the Cadillac converter. Ram been scamming people for decades, costing over $1,000 to resurface and/or replaced manifold gasket and bolts have to extract the broken bolts since the nut broke off the bolts

  10. Electrical system, Jun 18, 2024

The speedometer gauge cluster of my 2019 Ram 1500 truck stopped working after the truck sat in 90°F weather. The truck is always stored in the garage, but when I went to work between 8 AM and 5 PM, the gauge cluster stopped working.

  11. Air bags, Jun 18, 2024, crash

I was rear ended very hard, the car had to have been going at least 50 mph and didn't brake. It lifted the rear wheels of my truck off the ground, and the airbag light came on but none of the airbags deployed. This caused or exacerbated injury to my right leg and a laceration in the back of my head, concussion and TBI. I was in and out of consciousness. The police report contains a statement they said I wrote, but I think the passenger in my car wrote it It makes no sense and I saw it the 1st time when the report was emailed to me.

  12. Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Jun 17, 2024

Quick hard accel (less than 5 seconds), followed by emergency braking, caused the brakes to not respond for more than one second. Brakes would not emergency brake, only had minor stopping force. This occurs on the first time, so brake fade is ruled out. Starting the vehicle, than rapidly putting into gear D or R, while brakes are applied causes vehicle to lurch forward or backward depending on the gear chosen. Movement of over a full truck length is possible. I suspect it's a problem with the logic in the electronic braking. I can reproduce it whenever I'd like, but no accidents have occurred yet.

The touchscreen display is blinking intermittently. When putting the truck in reverse, the rear cross traffic and pedestrian warning system does not work properly, causing a dangerous scenario.

  15. Steering, Electrical system, Engine, Jun 5, 2024

Driving the vehicle and out of no where the power steer failed and the steering wheel locked up. Had 3 young children in the car with me and was blocking traffic due to being unable to drive the vehicle. The dealer inspected the vehicle and said it would need a new power steering rack and that he has never heard of this problem before when it’s all over the internet. The part is not available and it will be a minimum of 30 days with no estimated date. Vehicle has only 62,500 miles and has never been involved in any crash. This issue put my children at risk with no indication it would happen.

  17. Engine and engine cooling, Fuel system, Diesel, Jun 3, 2024

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) and 23V411000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

  18. Engine, Jun 1, 2024

I started smelling exhaust fumes in the cab of my truck. I began inspecting the engine compartment and heard a noise from the left side of the engine. I also noticed reduced power from the engine and a puffing sound during hard acceleration. I researched online and found numerous complaints for the RAM 1500 truck with the 5.7 liter hemi engine manifold exhaust bolt shearing and manifold cracking. I took my vehicle to a RAM dealership. The left (driver) exhaust manifold was replaced due to a sheared center bolt and a cracked exhaust manifold. The crack went almost completely around the center of the part. Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 09-011-22, dated September 3, 2022 was issued for this defect for 2019-2021 RAMs with 5.7 liter engine. The dealership bill was $833.06, including $260 ($217 MSRP on MOPAR.com) for the kit and $525 for labor (2.5 hours per the service representative, so $210 per hour). This known defect is a serious safety issue due to exhaust fumes entering the vehicle cab and being breathed by the driver. A recall should be issued for this defect.

Upon acceleration from stop, and even while driving at speeds between 30 & 40 mph, the vehicle shifts from Drive to Neutral and displays "Shift to P..." on the display. This occurs repeatedly. You have to stop the vehicle and shift to Park then back to Drive. But it keeps occurring, over and over. It first occurred when I pulled out into traffic, the vehicle shifted to N and I had absolutely NO EXCELLERATION with oncoming traffic behind me. I immediately put on my hazard lights and steered towards the curb to attempt to get out of the way... traffic behind me was able to slow and avoid collision but this is an extremely dangerous issue.

  21. Steering, May 25, 2024

I was about to make a left turn and the power steering stopped working in mid turn. Luckily there were no cars in the path of travel or behind me because it was so sudden. And I didn’t have full control of my truck.

  22. Electrical system, May 24, 2024

Truck on random occasions won’t lock or unlock using the inside door panel buttons. I also couldn’t unlock using the fob key. Hot day and person inside was not able to get out. I had to use the metal key inside the remote to unlock and open the doors. This has happened at least 4 times in pass 3 months. I replaced fob with fresh and pre tested button battery and also replaced the trucks main battery and problem still happens. I’m afraid a day may come and someone gets trapped inside truck on a hot day.

  24. Fuel system, Diesel, May 23, 2024

Was having an issues with trying fuel my truck up. I was only able to fuel up 2 gallons or less at a time before having fuel backing up into the fuel tube shutting of fuel flow. I took my vehicle to Dodge to have it looked at and it was determined that I have a bad fuel tank. The dealership went on to say that it was a faulty rollover valve that went bad. This valve is molded into the gas tank so it can not be replaced by itself. Service advisor informed me that dodge knows of the issue and had to redesigned the fuel tank to fix the issue. I was quoted $1700 to replace the tank.

  25. Air bags, May 21, 2024

“Service air bag” warning illuminated. Took car to dealer for service. Told by service agent that light was on due to low battery voltage. Battery 6 months old. Vehicle fine electrically otherwise. Doubting the reason. Haven’t gotten vehicle back yet, thinking warning light not cleared.
