Power steering. Steering warning light (Steering service required) comes on randomly for a second or two and then goes away. Making steering and controlling the vehicle very difficult. Several trips to repair shops that run a diagnostics computer scams come up with nothing. Mechanics have check for shorts but say nothing looks out of the normal. This make model and year has had 197 vehicles recalled for what I believe to be this issue. Has been happening for the past couple of weeks

On [XXX}, the alternator went out on me 4 hours north of my home. I had it towed 30 miles to Canon Ram in Greenwood, MS. The check engine light came on about 20 miles before the issue escalated to the point where I had to pull over in a rest area and then completely died. The GPU alternator was not in stock and is reportedly on backorder; however, a recall was issued for the same item in previous model year Ram trucks. It's been 4 weeks with no date in sight for this being fixed. The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 45 MPH down the road, the brakes unintendedly activated, and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic who was unable to retrieve a fault code. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed, but the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. Upon additional research, it was determined that the recall was completed under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V653000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC), but the update was not performed, completed, or done correctly. The vehicle was repaired. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the power steering became inoperable. The vehicle was towed to the residence. Upon investigation, the contact located a Class Action Lawsuit. The local dealer was contacted, and it was diagnosed that the power steering module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.

I took my truck to the RAM Dealership to check my ABS light on and Brake light on and 4 warning messages that the Brake system needs to be serviced. In the afternoon I called the dealer and the answer was that the ABS module failed and needs to be replaced, but the part is on national backorder and they cannot provide an estimate on when and even if a part will ever be available for my ABS module repair. Now I will be handed the keys to my truck back tomorrow where all warning lights are still on and no repair is even on the horizon, and it is still safe because the hydraulic brakes are still working. The ABS module however might not be replaced in a long time and I will be driving my vehicle without it working properly.

I was able to get a jump start & immediately took it to a local retailer to have the starter, alternator & battery checked. The battery had Indications of going bad, the alternator & starter passed the tests. I purchased a mobile jump starter to make sure I wouldn't be left stranded somewhere. When I returned home, I scheduled an appointment at the dealership to have them replace it. The dealership kept it overnight & said their diagnostic machines did not give the code that allowed them to replace the battery under warranty. I was getting ready drive to Indiana from Florida & wanted to make sure it would be safe.I then drove to Texas after that, then back home, about 1200 miles each leg. When I went to leave to Maine a couple weeks later, the truck would not start. I was able to use a jump starter to get it going. When I got to Maine, I scheduled an appointment at the local dealership to have them check it. They ran the same tests & said they could not get the code to replace the battery under warranty. It became increasingly difficult to start the truck & even got to the point where I couldn't use a mobile jump starter to start it. When I returned from Maine, I made an appointment with a reliable mechanic who said the battery was swollen & leaking acid. He said it was ready to explode, potentially catching the engine compartment on fire. At that point I contacted the dealer again, and they said that yes, with acid leaking & the battery swollen, they could replace the battery under warranty. It should never have gotten to the point where the battery had to be leaking acid to get it changed out under warranty, the testing the dealerships do does not properly identify bad batteries. The contact's grandmother owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle had been experiencing an intermittent loss of power steering functionality. The power steering warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that a fee would be charged for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle was not covered under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19E077000 (Steering); because the VIN was not included. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance in adding the VIN to the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.

A cracked backlite frame resulting in an interior water leak (crack is visible from the outside). Water leaks from the top of the backlite. There is a recall under Warranty Bulletins: U.S. D-23-17 (TSB: 23-098-23) for the same make, year, and model as this vehicle, but it is not listed as a specific recall for this VIN. In addition to the risk of mold in the vehicle, electronics located below the leak, such as the RF Module beneath the rear seat, could also be damaged. This could lead to the inability to remotely start the vehicle, or even start it at all, due to the module being used to recognize the key fob before the vehicle starts. This could strand an individual and represent a safety concern in this aspect. The problem is well known on other vehicles; see the previous reference for Warranty Bulletins: U.S. D-23-17 (TSB: 23-098-23). However, it is not listed for this VIN. The dealer and auto body shops have inspected the problem, and they can confirm that this matches the problem listed in the TSB. No warnings or messages, as this is a common manufacturing defect for this vehicle's make, model, and year. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Electrical system, Sep 22, 2025, crash
While driving the truck completely lost all power and crashed into a side wall. Dealership stated it was an electrical issue related to steering brake rack.

Exhaust Manifolds are cracked as others have noted. This a known issue by the manufacturer and they have issued a TSB but those of us out of warranty have to pay to replace their known defective part. This should be a full recall.

A known problem with the rear power and manual sliding window backlite frame developing cracks on 2019-2021 Ram 1500 built prior to September 30, 2020. The extended warranty has only been offered to the sales codes of GFE and GFD. My vehicle was built with a different sales code in Nov 2018 for the rear power sliding window but has developed the same issue. I have attached a photo showing the crack.

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact’s wife stated that while the vehicle was parked and shut off, the driver’s front door became inoperable. The contact reported that the front driver’s side door hinge began to detach, causing the contact’s wife to fall from the vehicle. As a result, the contact’s wife sustained ankle and wrist injuries and was transported to a local emergency room for treatment. The contact expressed concern that the failure posed a serious safety hazard to occupants and bystanders. The contact also stated that the front passenger’s door was beginning to exhibit similar issues, raising concern that the defect could result in additional injuries if not addressed. The contact mentioned that the passenger side door hinge was starting to detach prematurely. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 122,000. The VIN was invalid.
Visibility/wiper, Sep 11, 2025
Multiple times when placing the vehicle in reverse, review view camera screen shows distorted view or 'camera system not available' and blue screen. Have taken to dealer regarding issue multiple times, issue unresolved by component replacement in kind. Have researched online, found this is a common problem with Ram DS vehicles. Have tried online "tricks" to repair - they work temporarily then problem returns. Have been dealing with these issues for several years, very troublesome especially since I have small children so rear visibility when backing is critical.

Bilateral manifold failure, high incident in 2019 vehicles. Stellantis should review for recall.
Power train, Electrical system, Engine, Sep 6, 2025
Issue started with a "service shifter" warning at just shy of 3,000 miles, in January of 2019, and upon speaking to the dealership, they advised to shut off the truck and restart which cleared the "service shifter" warning. They said it was a glitch and that should remedy the issue. This issue became more frequent later (after manufacturers warranty ran out) It started leaving me stranded, sometimes for hours around 45,000 miles. Later, I suffered a multisystem failure and warnings that the truck was not in park, the shifter would not turn, truck would not start, and multiple other warnings. We were able to replace the battery which we thought had fixed the issue, but two weeks later it has done it again, and this time the battery disconnection for a period of days has not fixed the issue. I still owe two years on this truck and it has been a lemon. I have taken it to two dealerships, neither can fix my issue. I have done countless hours of research to address the issue. I am paying payments and do not have anything to drive. I need help with this issue. I have maintained the vehicle and have only put close to 60,000 miles on the truck. There is no logical reason I should be dealing with this many major issues that even the dealership can not seem to remedy. With such low miles and at only 7 years old, these issues should not be considered "routine maintenance" at the point in the truck's life. I believe this issue needs to be investigated, as I know many RAM owners who are facing the same issues that I am having, with no answers as of yet. I have been watching for recalls or statements from RAM, but nothing yet. Thank you for your time and careful considerations. I look forward to seeing a solution to my issues. Until then, I'll be stranded in Virginia, paying for transportation that can't be fixed.

Having to replace the rotors and brake pads just about every 6 months. Constantly hearing the front brakes grinding into the rotors while driving. Front and rear calibers are not releasing pressure after brakes are applied. Issue began in 2022 after buying the vehicle.

I’ve had this car for four years and my motor has blown three times and they have changed the head on the motor three different times I was driving the car on the highway. The car was at the dealership for five months and the day I get the car back not even eight hours later I’m driving down [XXX] other car shuts off and says to put in park and leave me stranded on the side of the road with my [XXX] child and my girlfriend . I had to wait until they came and picked me up and told me and this is extremely unsafe and a hazard after the third head replacement at the dealer and the car still under warranty. I don’t feel safe in this car with My Child. I picked up my truck around 2pm August 25th , and the motor blew Wednesday night at 1045pm for a 3rd time INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The issue is the MGU went out on truck. Dealer has no idea when a replacement will be available. Was told over 4100 are backordered. This appears to be an ongoing problem with these trucks for several months now. They blame supply chain issues. I feel it's on the manufacturer to readily have replacement parts. Clearly they didn't do their due diligence on this part. Something should be done to this company for the way they are treating customers. It's my only vehicle to get to and from work. Please put pressure on this company to get the necessary part.

The eTorq generator stopped working and the engine shutdown on the highway. I had to get a tow to the shop as the vehicle is not usable and the engine will not start. Furthermore, this part is unavailable with no-ETA as it is on nationwide backorder. I have been waiting for over a month I was told over 13000 of these are on backorder for customers around the country. I have also read many posts of others waiting months for the part. There is obviously a systemic problem with the part and an issue with replacements. It does appear the original part was superseded by a different version. Please help!
