  7. Power train, Nov 13, 2024

I have personally been experiencing a terrible cold start in the mornings. I have a 8 speed transmission with the 2.7 L engine. There is a recall on other Silverado and sierras with a (broken reaction carrier ring). I am having issues like, not engaging into drive from park for 20 seconds, once engaging-it will have hard pauses and shifts, yesterday I turned left crossing traffic with my kids in the truck and it stalled before shifting into second. I have been having these issues since about 15k and they’re progressively getting worse. The dealership keeps telling me it’s a normal for an 8 speed transmission. When doing research gmc did a recall for exactly the issues I’m having, however it only included 96 vehicles sierra and silverados. Which is customer satisfaction program N212328090 8 speed reaction Carrier Failure. I would love to chat about it over the phone if more information is needed. I am very unsatisfied with Chevrolets resolution to saying it is normal. It is definitely not normal. 8. Power train, Oct 31, 2024

I am submitting a complaint regarding recurring transmission issues with my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado (VIN: [XXX] ). These problems have compromised my safety and that of others on the road. Multiple repair attempts and discussions with GM have not resolved the issue. Incident Details: On [XXX], around 9 a.m., I experienced a severe transmission malfunction documented on dash cam. When I shifted out of park, the vehicle lunged forward, forcing me to brake suddenly, despite not applying gas. Minutes later, on an exit ramp, the transmission downshifted without throttle input, causing the rear end to fishtail as it attempted to throttle out and sounded stuck in neutral. Repair History: This issue has led to repeated repairs in January, February, and April of 2023 and 2024, as well as September 2023 and 2024. Despite these efforts, GM released a technical service bulletin classifying this transmission behavior as “normal” and has refused further repairs. Safety Impact: These unpredictable shifts and lack of responsiveness have created hazardous situations. Lunging, uncommanded downshifting, and rear fishtailing make it difficult to maintain control, especially in high-traffic areas. Request for NHTSA Investigation: Given these safety concerns, I urge NHTSA to investigate whether this defect affects other vehicles of this make and model year. An investigation may prevent future incidents and prompt GM to address this dangerous issue. Additional documentation, including dash cam footage, repair records, and communication with GM, is available to support this complaint. The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while stopped at a stop sign, the accelerator pedal was then depressed and the vehicle lost power. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was steered and parked on the side of the road and inspected. The contact stated that while attempting to place the vehicle in drive again, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was currently being repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

  11. Power train, Electrical system, Sep 3, 2024

Transmission will not shift to park from drive or reverse on first attempt. It takes several attempts to put vehicle into park after it has been stopped.

  12. Power train, Aug 17, 2024

Transmission valve cover and yes available for inspection. It wouldn’t shift gears causing me to drive only 10mph. It has been reproduced. Not inspected and the check engine light came on when the vehicle started to shudder.

  13. Power train, Jul 26, 2024

Hello, I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden the engine made a noise then the dash alerted me to shift into neutral/press start. I had to pull off the highway in single lane traffic and call for a tow. The truck was towed to the dealership. The truck lost power on the highway in single lane and there was no ability for other cars to go around me in a 75mph zone due to construction. The dealer diagnosis is that the motor is locked up and will require full replacement at only 70k miles. It is within years on powertrain but out due to mileage. There were no symptoms until the truck engine locked itself up.

  14. Power train, Jul 24, 2024

The Transmission is stuck in 2nd gear, and won’t reverse. I bought the truck used from dealership. There is a GM Technical Bulletin, that states the vehicle is/was not to have been sold, prior to having the Transmission control Module replaced.

  15. Power train, Electrical system, Jul 11, 2024

Bought the truck brand new and the transmission hard shifts in every gear. Has been in and out of the dealership nonstop for the past 2 years for electrical issues with the radio, an oil sensor wiring issue, and the dealership is trying to say 5 modules are out in the truck. They only posted 3 modules and they were transfer case module, power steering module, and body control module.

  16. Power train, Jul 3, 2024

I bought this truck with 0 miles and I purchase an extended warranty for $4000 DLS from the dealership to cover until 150000 miles and on January 2024 The transmission broke down I took in into the dealership for repairs and they have not been able to repaired and they keep giving me the round around every day is been 6 months that I been paying for a vehicle that I can’t drive and neither the dealership or the extended warranty company can fixed I need your help please thank you and gb

  17. Power train, Jun 25, 2024

As I drive down road at speed limit. Transmission control module shuts down and the truck loses speed to where it's a safety problem that the cars behind you almost hits you as you have to coast of the road. It has happened to many times. I took it to dealerships. But I had to shop around from county to county to find one that would fix the problem. They dealership wouldn't fix while under warranty. Know that I have finally found a dealership in another county. They have ho parts to fix it. But I'm stuck with a bill that while under warranty the problem exists. The biggest thing is that once I found this dealership. They informed me that this is ongoing problem with GM. They had about 7 others in shop with the same problem and no parts. I don't understand while there is no recall to fix this problem that exists. Trying to make me pay my truck payment plus spend monthly money on renter cars. That's about $2000 a month extra.

  18. Power train, Engine, Jun 24, 2024

Periodically at low speeds my transmission will hard shift. This causes my vehicle to lurch forward. This has happened several times to me. I have taken it to my Chevrolet dealership and have been told that this is a known problem but nothing they the dealership can do about it! I can only speculate but they are waiting for GM to make a decision on what must be done. I believe the transmission is mechanically faulty.

  19. Power train, Visibility/wiper, Back over prevention, Feb 27, 2024

Since new, this vehicle has had two unresolved safety issues. One of which being the failure of a FMVSS 111 required system - rear vision camera. The two defects are: 1. Service 4WD warning message and inability to use 4WD in inclement weather. This has caused safety concerns for my wife and I when traveling in the winter. 2. Failure of the FMVSS 111 required rear view camera system when in reverse. The display screen goes blank with an error message intermittently when in reverse.  Not being able to see behind the vehicle while in reverse has raised safety concerns by both my wife and I in numerous parking situations. The Dealer (Al Serra Chevrolet Grand Blanc MI) has attempted warranty repairs on both issues on 4 service visits: Delivery Date 9/27/2022 1st repair 1/12/2023 2nd repair 11/27/2023 3rd repair 12/19/2023 4th repair 2/27/2023 GM Customer Assistance Case 9-12089878168 2/27/2024 Certified Letter to GM notifying of intent to file for Lemon Law Relief, Final Repair attempt. All 4 repair attempts included the 4WD system failure as well as the Rear View Camera system failure. Many components have been replaced. along with many reprograming attempts of both systems. Both problems return after the Dealer attempts a repair, and have not been successfully repaired to date. The problems first appeared on 1/12/2023. Due to the Camera issue being of such a serious safety hazard, we will not drive the vehicle again until repairs are assured. We cannot risk backing into a pedestrian.

  20. Power train, Dec 7, 2023

During a cold start up once the vehicle is moving, it has a hard time shifting. It jerks makes a loud noise and shift a radically.

  21. Power train, Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 28, 2023

The truck randomly got a check engine light. I had to drive over 150 miles home and the whole time the dash said DEF empty and a countdown to reduced power. DEF was filled prior to trip. Took to dealer and was told the DEF tank needed to be replaced due to bad sensor or module. No parts available for repair so I am without a truck until GM decides to produce parts. The consumer stated that the vehicle is still at the dealer and the DEF module has been replaced 3 times. No remedy has been provided from the manufacturer so far.

  22. Power train, Electrical system, Jul 13, 2023

When vehicle becomes disabled due to an an electrical or mechanical issue there is no way to put the transmission into neutral. Due to the vehicle having an electric shift mechanism, when there is an electrical issue with the vehicle it can’t be shifted into neutral to push or tow the vehicle. For some unknown reason, GM did not provide an emergency transmission shift override system. My previous vehicle, a 2014 Ram had an emergency shift override mechanism for emergency situations. With GM’s lack of an override system if the vehicle develops an issue while driving once it comes to a stop it shifts its self into park leaving no way to move the vehicle safely off the roadway without a tow truck using skates/dollies on the rear wheels. I personally experienced this yesterday while driving in San Antonio, Texas traffic. My vehicle died while going 70 mph. Thankfully I was able to coast off to the shoulder. When the vehicle came to a stop it would no longer shift into neutral. I have read others having similar experiences only not being fortunate enough to get off the roadway. GM needs to provide a way to override the electronic shift mechanism so there vehicles can be moved when issues arise. It’s only a matter of time before an electrical issue renders a vehicle unmovable in traffic causing injury or death to the traveling public.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unintendedly lunged forward and jerked. Additionally, the instrument panel was black. The rearview camera and the front view camera malfunctioned. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where a software update was performed; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the jerking and the instrument cluster failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

7500 oil change, tire rotation multi vehicle inspection appt. With issues. - didn't do oil change/inspection. Because of major issue with transmission/engine. Vehicle running rough, happens at idle or while driving. Sounds lik it will stall. When u put vehicle in gear drive or reverse vehicle lunges towards direction its in gear. Radio lights on dash decide to dim on their own, shuts off on its own. Will not let u adjust dimness you must shut off for it to re light up which is a 50/50 chance. Going over bumps loud noise coming from rear, vehicle does get squirmy when you hit a large bump. Large loud whinging noise upon acceleration. Intermittent issue with key fobs usually spare key not found on dash. Still. Diagnosis papers attached. It is a balance shift gear crank shaft case; they have to remove the transmission and the engine completely from my truck and replace parts! Takes over 1.5 for parts to get delivered, plus they will have my vehicle for 7 days plua approx to do repair. But for now they told me it's cool that I drove it still with crank shaft and balance gear shift issues! They cannot do 7500 mile oil change as they have to remove the engine and they want to wait to do oil so its not wasted when they have to rip engine out. All other issues will be address once this issue is fixed because they are hoping that these problems are solved with the major repair. Tsb# 23-NA-015.
