Seat belts, frontApr 8, 2021
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have received an incorrect replacement tensioner cable assembly as part of a previous recall remedy or a subsequent repair. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.
A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver seat belt lap pretensioner, free of charge. The recall began on May 5, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212330040.

Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, wheel speed sensor/tone ringOct 24, 2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.
Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

Service brakes, hydraulic, power assist, vacuumSep 6, 2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade, 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon vehicles. The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time.
As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began October 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192268490.

Air bags, frontalJul 10, 2017
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.
A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. The affected vehicles were assembled with a roof rail air bags (RRAB) that were not reinforced at the points were the bags contact the hardware used to attach the roof carrier.
During deployment, the RRAB may be punctured or torn by the roof carrier hardware, reducing its performance and increasing the risk of occupant injury in the event of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the roof carrier attaching hardware, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in early September 2014. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet) or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14359.

Power train, transfer case (4-wheel drive)Jun 27, 2014
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra vehicles, and model year 2015 GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe vehicles. In the affected vehicles, an electrical signal short may cause the transfer case to shift to neutral without the driver's input.
If the transfer case switches to neutral while the vehicle is parked and the parking brake is not in use, the vehicle may roll away increasing the risk of injury to bystanders. If the transfer case switches to neutral while the vehicle is being driven, the vehicle would lose drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will re-program the software in the transfer case control module, free of charge. The recall began in early August 2014. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14192.

Electrical system, softwareJun 6, 2014
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, and 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban vehicles equipped with a base radio and an internal amplifier. The radios in the affected vehicles may become inoperative, and as a result, there would be no audible chime to notify the driver if the door is opened with the key in the ignition or no audible seat belt warning indicating the seat belts were not buckled. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention," and 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Without an audible indicator, the driver may not be aware that the driver's door is open while the key is in the ignition, increasing the risk of a vehicle rollaway. Additionally, there would be no reminder that the driver's or front seat passenger's seat belt is not buckled, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the radio software, free of charge. The recall began on July 2, 2014. Chevrolet owners may contact GM's customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GMC owners may contact GM's customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 14315.

In the affected vehicles, the tie rod threaded attachment may not be properly tightened to the steering gear rack.
An improperly tightened tie rod attachment may allow the tie rod to separate from the steering rack, resulting in a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
GM notified all owners, and dealers will inspect the inner tie rods to make sure that they are correctly tightened, replacing the steering gear, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on May 14, 2014. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14204. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VACUUM PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ELM CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 301 E CHURCH ST, ELMIRA, NY 14901, (607) 734-4141) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN AND REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V645000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000. *AS *AS

SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST CAME ON AND VEHICLE IS VERY HARD TO STOP EVEN WHEN APPLYING ENORMOUS PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS ACCRUES AT LOWER SPEEDS AND IS VERY DANGEROUS TO THE CONSUMER.
Service brakes, Sep 7, 2019
BRAKES WERE FAULTY. THE CAR WAS NOT STOPPING AT SLOW SPEEDS. AFTER GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH DEALER AND SHOWING THEM THE 'DIAGNOSTIC TIP' OUT FOR THIS KNOWN ISSUE, THEY REPLACED VACUUM PUMP FREE OF CHARGE. I ASKED WHY THEY DIDN'T REPLACE THE OTHER ITEMS LISTED AS RECOMMENDED ON THE NOTICE. NOW 7 MONTHS LATER, THE OTHER PARTS ARE LEAKING AND NEED REPLACEMENT. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT SAME TIME.
Service brakes, Sep 5, 2019
INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WHERE EXCESSIVE FORCE APPLIED TO BRAKE PEDAL IS REQUIRED TO STOP VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION OR KEEP THE VEHICLE IN A STOPPED STATE. THIS PRIMARILY SEEMS TO HAPPEN IN TRAFFIC WHERE FREQUENT STOPS AT IDLE SPEED IS COMMON. CONTACTED GM DEALER FOR RESOLUTION AND WAS TOLD THAT VEHICLES VACUUM PUMP WOULD BE REPLACED UNDER A SPECIAL WARRANT IF THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER 70000 MILES. CONSEQUENTLY THE VEHICLE WAS SLIGHTLY OVER THIS AND WARRANTY WOULD NOT BE HONORED.

BRAKE PEDAL NOT RESPONDING. PUSHING THE PEDAL AT A DRIVETHRU WINDOW AND KEPT MOVING. HAD TO JAM ON THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO FINALLY STOP, PUT IN PARK. LUCKILY NO ONE IN FRONT OF MY TO HIT. ABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES; MAINLY WHEN COASTING AND AT SLOW SPEED. BRAKING AT DRIVING SEEMS TO WORK BETTER, STILL SEEMS TO BE OFF THOUGH. WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY RETURN TO WORK, WITH ANOTHER EMPLOYEE FOLLOWING, AND PARK. PARKING WAS DIFFICULT, THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO GO DOWN THE BANK! HAD TO USE THE E-BRAKE. THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP TONIGHT! I REFUSE TO DRIVE WITH THIS PROBLEM!

2015 CHEVY TAHOE, WE PURCHASED TWO MONTHS AGO STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. I WAS TURNING AROUND IN THE DRIVEWAY, HIT THE BRAKES, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULDN'T MOVE. IT WAS EXTREMELY STIFF, CAUSING ME TO CRASH THE VEHICLE INTO MY UTILITY TRAILER. I PUSHED AS HARD AS POSSIBLE AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THERE WAS ALMOST NO BRAKING PRESSURE AT ALL AND MY SUV JUST KEPT GOING. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR MY FAMILY BUT NOW EVERYONE IS SCARED TO RIDE IN IT. I'VE FINANCED A VEHICLE FOR YEARS THAT I'VE HAD POSESSION OF FOR MONTHS, AND IT'S MOST NESSCERY SAFTEY FUNCTION HAS FAILED. I'M EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. I'VE ALWAYS OWNED GM VEHICLES. AS A 31 YEAR OLD FATHER OF 3 SMALL CHILDREN, THIS WAS A VERY LARGE PURCHASE FOR OUR YOUNG FAMILY. NOW I FEEL I MAY HAVE TO LOOK OUTSIDE MY TRUSTED BRAND TO FIND A SAFE VEHICLE I CAN TRANSPORT THE MOST PRECIOUS CARGO IN. IT'S VERY DISAPPOINTING . I THEN FIND OUT THIS EXACT ISSUE HAS CAUSED MULTIPLE CRASHES INVOLVING INJURIES. GM IS AWARE THIS IS A PROBLEM, LAWSUITS HAVE BEEN FILED, YET LITTLE OR NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. HOW CAN GENERAL MOTORS KNOWINGLY TURN A BLIND EYE AND ALLOW THIS LIFE THREATING SAFTEY ISSUE TO GO ON IN A VEHICLE MARKETED TO FAMILIES?
Service brakes, Aug 16, 2019
WHILE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR MY WIFE EXPERIENCED A NEAR SUDDEN DETERIORATION IN BRAKING PERFORMANCE. THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY STIFF WITH LITTLE OR NO TRAVEL IN PEDAL REGARDLESS OF PRESSURE APPLIED. THIS DETERIORATION IN BRAKING PERFORMANCE BECAME CRITICAL - REQUIRING ALL THE FORCE MY 100LB WIFE COULD MUSTER TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP. THE STIFF PEDAL WAS OBVIOUS WITH THE CAR ON AND OFF, MOVING AND STATIONARY. THOUGH THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AND WAS RECOGNIZED ONLY AFTER THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON I84 (AT 65 MPH!!). OUR MECHANIC IDENTIFIED THE VACUUM PUMP AS THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE.
Service brakes, Aug 15, 2019
AT LOW SPEEDS, OR IDLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES VERY HARD TO DEPRESS. LOSS OF POWER BOOST RESULTING IN EXTREME EFFORT TO ACTIVATE BRAKING. THIS HAPPENED WHILE STUCK IN A TRAFFIC JAM TRAVELLING AT SPEEDS OF LESS THAN 10 MILES PER HOUR FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES. PROBLEM LASTED UNTIL TRAFFIC RETURNED TO NORMAL SPEED, WHEN BRAKING RETURNED TO NORMAL. I BELIEVE I HAVE THE SAME VACUUM PUMP PROBLEM BEING CITED BY OTHER OWNERS.
Service brakes, Aug 10, 2019
LOST ALL BRAKE BOOST WHILE BACKING A BOAT DOWN A STEEP BOAT RAMP. WAS ABLE TO STOP, BUT I'M SURE A SMALLER PERSON (LIKE MY WIFE) WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO. THE REPAIR SHOP REPLACED THE VACUUM PUMP. I NOW UNDERSTAND THIS IS A COMMON, KNOWN GM PROBLEM.

BRAKES RANDOMLY STARTED NOT WORKING. A LOT OF RESISTANCE, UNABLE TO STOP, UNABLE TO PUSH BRAKE TO FLOOR. FINALLY GOT SOMEWHERE AND PARKED AFTER AVOIDING THREE ACCIDENTS, VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. BRAKE BOOSTER IS BAD. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2015 TAHOE. WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN A RECALL????
Electronic stability control (ESC), Service brakes, Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 7, 2019
AFTER READING THE LARGE NUMBER OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE 2015 TAHOES AND AFTER SPEAKING WITH INDIVIDUALS IN THIS AREA IN BUSINESS WITH GM, I FEEL EVEN MORE UNSAFE THAN I HAVE BEFORE. I WAS TOLD THAT ALTHOUGH NUMEROUS PROBLEMS AND MULTIPLE LAWSUITS WITH THE 2015 TAHOE'S, THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO TOTAL RECALL WITH MY SPECIFIC VIN NUMBER. SHOCKING. I DID SEE SEVERAL RECALLS OF GREAT CONCERN THAT I HAD NOT BEEN MADE AWARE OF. IT'S A HARDSHIP TO HAVE MY VEHICLE IN THE SHOP MORE THAN IT IS IN MY GARAGE. IT'S A HARDSHIP TO PAY TO RENT A WORKING, SAFE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE ONE I PAY $615 MONTHLY FOR IS UNSAFE, UNRELIABLE AND A LIABILITY. IN CONCLUSION, ARE THERE STEPS AN INDIVIDUAL IS ABLE TO TAKE TO RESOLVE SITUATIONS SUCH AS THIS? OR IS THIS SOMETHING THAT ONE WOULD NEED TO SEEK ASSISTANCE OF LEGAL AIDE TO GET THE BALL ROLLING?

TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY WENT OUT AT 104,000 MILES, REQUIRING NEW TRANSMISSION. ENTIRE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED TODAY THE BRAKES STOPPED WORKING SUDDENLY- WAITING FOR DIAGNOSIS. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. ALMOST IN THREE DIFFERENT ACCIDENTS TRYING TO GET SOMWHERE AND GET STOPPED. CATYLATIC CONVERTOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND CURRENTLY HAS THREE CODES RELATED TO IT SHOWING. DRIVING MY CAR TODAY AND HAD A HUGE ISSUE WITH MY BRAKES. WHEN BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE AND NOTICED SOMEONE WALKING BEHIND ME AND HIT THE BRAKES, IT WAS LIKE THEY WERE STUCK. AFTER A COUPLE OF SECONDS THEY FINALLY GAVE AND STOPPED, SO I JUST THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS A FLUKE. THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS 2 HOURS AWAY FROM HOME. THEN ON DRIVE BACK HOME, I GOT STUCK IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT ON THE INTERSTATE. TRAFFIC CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, SO I HIT MY BRAKES AND SAME THING, THEY WERE STUCK (WOULD NOT MOVE). AFTER ABOUT 3 SECONDS OF PUSHING THEM AS HARD AS I COULD, THEY FINALLY GAVE AND JUST BARELY MISSED HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I FINALLY SEARCHED THE INTERNET TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAD EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. I WAS VERY SHOCKED TO SEE THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM! THIS IS A HUGE SECURITY RISK! I WAS ALMOST IN 2 SEPARATE ACCIDENTS TODAY BECAUSE OF A KNOWN PROBLEM! SHOULDN'T SOMEONE BE NOTIFYING TAHOE OWNERS OF THIS ISSUE TO KEEP THE PUBLIC SAFE?
