  1. Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 25, 2026

My 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe equipped with the 5.3L V8 experienced a severe engine failure at approximately 92,144 miles. The vehicle developed multiple misfires and was towed to the Chevrolet dealership for diagnosis. The dealership documented a failed lifter, significant camshaft damage, metal in the engine oil, and metal contamination throughout the engine. The engine had to be replaced with a complete long block at a total cost of approximately $14,395. I am concerned because this was a major internal engine failure at relatively low mileage, involving a lifter and resulting in extensive engine damage. GM has issued technical service information regarding lifter-related conditions and misfires affecting the 5.3L L84 engine family, which is the engine in my vehicle. GM provided $1,859.29 in partial repair assistance but has declined any additional assistance. I am reporting this failure because I believe the nature and severity of the engine failure warrant investigation for a potential recurring safety or reliability issue involving the 5.3L L84 engine.

  2. Power train, Sep 24, 2026

I am reporting a transmission failure involving my 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71, VIN [XXX]. In XXX, while driving, my Tahoe became stuck in Drive and would not shift into Reverse. The transmission then completely failed and the vehicle could no longer be driven normally. I took the vehicle to a Chevrolet dealership, where the transmission failure was diagnosed and replacement was recommended. GM’s quoted replacement cost was very high, so I had the transmission replaced by an independent mechanic in [XXX] using a certified GM replacement transmission. I subsequently became aware of NHTSA recall 26V085 / GM N252536750 involving certain 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe vehicles with the 10-speed transmission. The recall involves a transmission control valve that may fail and cause loss of transmission function and, under certain circumstances, rear-wheel lockup. My Tahoe’s manufacturing date is XXX, so I understand it is outside the currently identified production range for this recall. However, my vehicle experienced a complete transmission failure with an inability to shift into Reverse. I am requesting that NHTSA review this failure to determine whether the original transmission may have experienced the same or a related defect and whether vehicles outside the currently identified production range may also be affected. The Chevrolet dealership that diagnosed the failure may have diagnostic records, trouble codes, and transmission identification information for the original transmission. I can provide these records and the independent repair documentation if needed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  3. Power train, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 14, 2026

Vehicle began making loud knocking sound XXX Towed to dealer 9/8 after holiday. They found metal in the oil and believe it needs an engine replacement. A week later I have no answers, there's no loaners available, so I am just without a car. We bought car from Zimbrick Chevy in [XXX]. It was never disclosed to us that the vehicle had an engine replacement right before we purchased. New engine lasted about 16,000 miles. Only once we saw the history of the car in the current dealership's service app did we learn about the engine replacement. This is beyond unacceptable! 4. Engine and engine cooling, Sep 14, 2026

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine seized. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle; however, the engine cranked for 2 minutes and indicated that there was no oil pressure. The engine cranked over after several minutes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with rod-bearing failure and that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The engine was replaced under the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The dealer repaired the vehicle. The vehicle engine seized but was able to be driven at a reduced speed. The failure mileage was 45,059.

  5. Electrical system, Sep 2, 2026

Car has a parasitic draw and is on its second battery in 3 years. The dealer can’t seem to fix the issue and shows little concern to find the issue. Dangerous to get stranded somewhere or in the cold. It’s erratic when it decides to kill the battery and not safe.

  6. Power train, Electrical system, Engine, Aug 31, 2026

Had a engine failure at 93,000 miles and upon doing a vin report found out it also had a engine put it at 7,800 miles so it now has its third engine in it and also had the high pressure pump fail and the gauge cluster fail and had to be replaced

  7. Other or unspecified, Aug 29, 2026

I am the original owner of my vehicle. It is essentially 4 years old and the evaporator coil has gone out on the vehicle. The evaporator coil goes passed just cooling the car. It affects the defrosting and temperature of the windshield for safety. The dealership is the one too have diagnosed the issue with the vehicle. It requires a complete disassembling of the dashboard on their part in order to repair. The only warning I received was the passenger's side of the car blew cool air, the driver's side blew hot air for a couple of days and then it went out completely. There was housing by the dashboard. When it rained, I could not defrost my windows. I was in a very unsafe situation.

  8. Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 28, 2026

Driving 55mph on highway with cars behind me and vehicle stalls. Almost rear ended. Fuel pump control module failed.

  9. Other or unspecified, Aug 26, 2026

Onstar hardware failure. I have already replaced the onstar module in 2023 due to failure. Now the hardware has failed again. No longer under warranty and GM will not replace.

  10. Engine, Aug 24, 2026

This vehicle is subject to Safety Recall N252494000 / NHTSA Campaign 25V274 for a known L87 6.2L V8 engine defect. Prior to the June 2025 recall notice, I incurred repair costs for the same defect at Schumacher Chevrolet, [XXX], on XXX ($405.63) and XXX ($2,755.76), neither of which resolved the issue. On XXX and again on 02/14/2025, the vehicle suffered total loss of propulsion on [XXX], once causing a missed professional licensing exam and requiring emergency roadside repair. The vehicle's engine replacement repair order remained open for 181 consecutive days (XXX) before GM authorized a full engine replacement under warranty. I submitted a written reimbursement demand to GM on XXX for $10,717.31 in documented losses under 49 CFR § 577.7. GM has not responded in writing and instead offered an unverifiable verbal credit of $3,000, which the servicing dealer has no record of. I am filing this complaint due to GM's failure to remedy this known, pre-notification defect within a reasonable time as required by 49 U.S.C. § 30120. 11. Power train, Aug 12, 2026

The transmission began slipping at 20, 25, 35, and 45 mph by the time we hit 80k miles. The vehicle was out of warranty. We were told it was unaffected by the recalls and not related to the issues affecting other drivers. It now has 167k miles and we have tried having the transmission flushed but it still slips and needs a new transmission. Chevy knows about these issues and refuses to replace their horrible product since they also sell the cure to the problem and make money off of it.

  12. Power train, Engine, Aug 7, 2026

2022 Chevy Tahoe went into limp mode at 62,500 miles out of the blue and check engine light came on. At the certified Chevy dealership I was told it was the transmission control valve, Code P2732, which is a known widespread factory issue in these models. Upon further inspection, was told my transmission fluid was completely black and burned and it ruined the transmission and therefore it needs to be replaced. "Consequential Damage Policy: When a control valve body fails and stays "stuck on," it forces maximum line pressure through the system. Continuing to drive under these conditions quickly destroys the internal clutch packs, burns the fluid, and melts down the transmission." This is exactly what happened and my vehicle was never put on a recall list but clearly was a ticking time bomb.

  13. Seat belts, Jul 30, 2026

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that upon attempting to fasten the rear drivers side third row seatbelt they had noticed that the cross lap piece would not secure itself into the latch. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was inspected and the contact was advised that the housing buckle units were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number : 22V617000 (SEAT BELTS) as probable cause for the failure. The manufacture was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000.

  14. Power train, Engine, Jul 17, 2026

Driving the vehicle down the highway at approximately 65 miles per hour, the check engine light came on and the engine went into limp mode, slowing immediately. Upon getting the vehicle to the left shoulder on a busy highway, the vehicle displayed "engine overheating", "battery low", and 0% oil life. A full oil and filter change had been done less than 1000 miles ago and upon checking the oil, it was at the correct level. The engine completely failed and is not being replaced at a Chevrolet dealership. I completed the recall N252494003 on March 5th, 2026 which comprised of an engine inspection, higher viscosity oil, a new oil cap, filter replacement, and owner's manual insert. The engine still failed and required replacement despite having this done.

  15. Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 2, 2026

Tahoe failed mid driving in a public roadway, computer system said press to restart and car made a whirling noise. I was unable to restart or put into neutral to move. This was a safety concern due to it happening mid driving, and I had my two young children with me.

  16. Engine, Jul 2, 2026

2022 Tahoe engine failure occurred on the highway due to 6.2L engine defect "L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion". Wife was stranded on the highway with no shoulder in 80 mph traffic. L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion defect was confirmed by Chevrolet, and car has been sitting at the service center for 6 weeks awaiting an engine. Just got notification that it is being shipped.

  17. Service brakes, Jun 3, 2026

was moving vehicles around in driveway and vehicle was running and in parked position in the driveway on slight hill and after 4-5 mins of sitting there idle vehicle rolled down the hill towards kids playing and struck another vehicle. when i got back into vehicle, the vehicle was in park and the reverse lights and reverse camera were on while the vehicle was in park.

  18. Visibility/wiper, May 26, 2026

Wind shield wipers stopped working while it was raining.

  19. Electrical system, May 24, 2026

I am writing to formally report a critical safety defect regarding the OnStar Telematics Control Module in my 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe High Country VIN: [XXX] . My vehicle was recently diagnosed by SERRA CHEVROLET as having a failed module, which has rendered numerous essential features inoperative. This is not an isolated incident; there is clear evidence of a widespread failure affecting thousands of GM and Chevrolet owners. The failure of this module creates significant safety risks, including: * Loss of Emergency Services: The OnStar SOS button and automatic crash response are disabled, leaving me without a lifeline in the event of an accident. * Systemic Vehicle Malfunctions: This module is deeply integrated into the vehicle’s architecture. Its failure has caused [list your specific issues, e.g., "Check Engine" lights, heads-up display failure, and battery drainage]. * Disabled Connectivity: Core features I paid a premium for, such as navigation, remote start, and Wi-Fi, are now "bricked". It is unacceptable that a flagship $80,000+ vehicle is operating in a degraded and potentially dangerous state due to a known hardware defect. I am requesting that GM take immediate responsibility for this repair at no cost to me, regardless of warranty status, as this is a fundamental safety issue. Please provide a timeline on how GM intends to rectify this widespread defect. I look forward to your prompt response. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] 39,000 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  20. Power train, May 14, 2026

My vehicle has suffered a Transmission Control Valve Failure (stuck open). This is the exact mechanical failure detailed in GM’s Nationwide Recall N24245441-02. It is deeply disheartening and illogical that my vehicle—which shares the exact year, make, model, and identical mechanical failure detailed in the safety bulletin—is excluded from the recall purely due to an arbitrary VIN filtering process

  21. Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, May 1, 2026

Vehicle lost all power while driving on interstate, there were no warning messages displayed. The initial recall was performed on vehicle.

  22. Electrical system, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Apr 27, 2026

My 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe diesel unexpectedly lost power while driving. I was stopped, made a right turn, and accelerated to approximately 34–40 mph on a two-way street when the vehicle suddenly shook, shifted into neutral, and the engine shut off without warning. There were no warning lights, dashboard messages, or prior symptoms before the failure. I was driving with two young children secured in car seats at the time. This created a serious safety risk because the vehicle became disabled in the roadway, and I had limited control while traffic was present. The vehicle has not yet been diagnosed, and the exact failed component/system is unknown. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The incident has been reported to a dealer or service center, but the problem has not yet been confirmed or reproduced at this time.

  23. Other or unspecified, Apr 27, 2026

After a rain fall a "swooshing" sound is heard above, water will pour through the overhead lights where the onstar is, the seatbelts and the back interior lights. The drain tubes to the sunroof have been cleared and the problem still persist. When the water comes in the buttons start blinking and it causes a risk to the person driving when they are distracted by the water pouring in and the water pooling under your feet possibly causing your foot to slip while driving.

  24. Engine, Apr 22, 2026

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light was flashing, and the vehicle was shuddering. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, and it was diagnosed with a misfire in cylinder #5. The dealer informed the contact that the engine was taken apart during the diagnostic process, and the vehicle was repaired; however, the contact expressed doubts that the engine was taken apart or repaired because the dealer had only sent pictures of the exterior of the vehicle to the warranty company. Additionally, the failure recurred while driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

  25. Power train, Engine, Apr 15, 2026

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that at approximately 55,000 miles, the vehicle experienced a torque converter failure, and the torque converter was replaced under the factory warranty. The contact stated that four months later, the failure reoccurred, and the dealer declined to cover the repair. Subsequently, the camshaft failed, leading to a recommendation for a complete engine replacement. The contact stated that old parts from the original engine were installed on the new engine without authorization. Two months after the engine replacement, the transmission valve body failed while the vehicle was 237th on a back-order list. Three months after a second transmission repair, the vehicle suffered another transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission was new but discovered but was being charged for the installation of old, faulty parts from the original engine onto the new powertrain. The vehicle was currently at the dealer, and the contact was without transportation. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
