Recalls and investigations

  1. Seat belts, frontApr 8, 2021

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have received an incorrect replacement tensioner cable assembly as part of a previous recall remedy or a subsequent repair. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.

A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver seat belt lap pretensioner, free of charge. The recall began on May 5, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212330040.

  2. Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, wheel speed sensor/tone ringOct 24, 2019

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.

Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

  3. Service brakes, hydraulic, power assist, vacuumSep 6, 2019

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade, 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon vehicles. The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time.

As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began October 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192268490.

  4. Steering, electric power assist systemSep 7, 2018

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Sierra 1500 and Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade vehicles. Electric power steering (EPS) assist may be lost momentarily, followed by a sudden return of EPS assist.

If EPS assist is lost and then suddenly returns, the driver may have difficulty steering the vehicle, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the EPS module software, free of charge. The recall began October 12, 2018. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18289.

  5. Seat belts, frontMay 3, 2018

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Tahoe Police Pursuit and Special-Service vehicles. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.

If the pretensioner cable becomes fatigued or breaks, the driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the pretensioner cable and seat side-shield, free of charge. The recall began June 19, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 18156.

  6. Air bags, frontalJul 10, 2017

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, 3500 HD, Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade and Cadillac Escalade ESV vehicles and 2014-2017 Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500, Trax, Caprice Police Pursuit Vehicle, GMC Sierra 1500, Buick Encore, and 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse, Chevrolet Spark EV and SS vehicles. In the affected vehicles, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test.

The recall began on October 13, 2016. 8. Electrical system, ignitionOct 9, 2015

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks manufactured January 24, 2014, to February 26, 2014, 2015 Chevrolet Suburban vehicles manufactured February 12, 2014 and Chevrolet Tahoe vehicles manufactured February 6, 2014, to February 13, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the ignition lock actuator may bind, making turning the key difficult or causing the ignition to get stuck in the "Start" position.

If stuck in the "Start" position, the ignition may suddenly snap back into the "Accessory" position, causing a loss of engine, steering, and braking power, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. If the vehicle is in a crash, the air bags may not deploy, increasing the risk of occupant injury.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ignition lock housing, free of charge. The recall began on November 20, 2015. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 15573.

  9. Steering, electric power assist systemNov 10, 2014

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra, and Yukon XL vehicles, equipped with electric power steering (EPS). Due to a problem with the EPS module, the affected vehicles may experience a sudden loss of power steering assist during vehicle operation.

An unexpected loss of power steering increases the risk of a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the power steering assist motor kit, free of charge. The recall began on November 17, 2014. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14743.

  10. Air bags, side/windowJul 23, 2014

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Suburban, Suburban LTZ, Tahoe, Tahoe LTZ, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL Denali vehicles manufactured on May 13, 2014. The affected vehicles were assembled with a roof rail air bags (RRAB) that were not reinforced at the points were the bags contact the hardware used to attach the roof carrier.

During deployment, the RRAB may be punctured or torn by the roof carrier hardware, reducing its performance and increasing the risk of occupant injury in the event of a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the roof carrier attaching hardware, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in early September 2014. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet) or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14359.

  11. Power train, transfer case (4-wheel drive)Jun 27, 2014

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra vehicles, and model year 2015 GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe vehicles. In the affected vehicles, an electrical signal short may cause the transfer case to shift to neutral without the driver's input.

If the transfer case switches to neutral while the vehicle is parked and the parking brake is not in use, the vehicle may roll away increasing the risk of injury to bystanders. If the transfer case switches to neutral while the vehicle is being driven, the vehicle would lose drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will re-program the software in the transfer case control module, free of charge. The recall began in early August 2014. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14192.

  12. Electrical system, softwareJun 6, 2014

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, and 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban vehicles equipped with a base radio and an internal amplifier. The radios in the affected vehicles may become inoperative, and as a result, there would be no audible chime to notify the driver if the door is opened with the key in the ignition or no audible seat belt warning indicating the seat belts were not buckled. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention," and 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Without an audible indicator, the driver may not be aware that the driver's door is open while the key is in the ignition, increasing the risk of a vehicle rollaway. Additionally, there would be no reminder that the driver's or front seat passenger's seat belt is not buckled, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the radio software, free of charge. The recall began on July 2, 2014. Chevrolet owners may contact GM's customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GMC owners may contact GM's customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 14315.

  13. Steering, linkages, tie rod assemblyDo not drive until repairedMay 14, 2014

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014 Chevrolet Silverado vehicles manufactured May 23, 2013, through March 25, 2014, 2014 GMC Sierra vehicles manufactured May 25, 2013, through March 31, 2014, and 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe vehicles manufactured January 29, 2014, through March 27, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the tie rod threaded attachment may not be properly tightened to the steering gear rack.

An improperly tightened tie rod attachment may allow the tie rod to separate from the steering rack, resulting in a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

GM notified all owners, and dealers will inspect the inner tie rods to make sure that they are correctly tightened, replacing the steering gear, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on May 14, 2014. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14204. GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the transmission oil cooler line connection and repair the vehicles, as needed, free of charge. The recall began on May 19, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet at 1-866-694-6546 or GMC owners may contact GMC at 1-866-996-9463. GM's number for this recall is 14121.

THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING LATE IN 2019. IT STARTED GETTING COLD OUT SO WE DIDN'T NEED IT AT THE TIME. COVID 19 HIT AND I DIDN'T DRIVE THE CAR FOR WEEKS ON END. SO DIDN'T NEED AC. WHEN WE DID HAVE TO USE IT THE AC WAS BLOWING HOT AIR. THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 5 YEARS 60K MILES THAT WE DID NOT KNOW ABOUT. WE NEVER RECEIVED INFORMATION ON IT. WE HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER MANY TIMES FOR OTHER SERVICE RELATED STUFF OVER THE YEARS AND NO ONE EVER MENTIONED OR EVEN CHECKED TO SEE IF THE AC UNIT WAS NOT WORKING. WE CONTACTED THE DEALER TO FIX IT UNDER THIS WARRANTY SOMETIME IN MAY OR JUNE OF 2020 AND WAS TOLD NO THAT THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY ENDED IN FEB 16, 2020. CONTACTED GM AND ASKED THE SAME THING. GOOD FAITH HELP WOULD HAVE BEEN REAL NICE. WE ARE A FEW MONTHS OVER THE 5 YEARS, BUT WELL UNDER THE 60K MILES. IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO GET THIS COVERED UNDER THIS WARRANTY OR GET A RECALL ON IT. I HAVE SEEN MANY MANY MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SAME THING AS I. THE CAR IS A LITTLE OVER 5 YEARS OLD. THE AC UNIT SHOULDN'T HAVE FAILED SO SOON. NOW I HAVE TO PAY WELL OF 1000 TO FIX IT OUT OF MY POCKET. I KNOW NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, EXCEPT HEAT EXHAUSTION.....PLEASE DO A RECALL ON IT, PLEASE!

I HAVE A 2015 CHEVY TAHOE THAT JUST RANDOMLY STOPS IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO NELSON HALL CHEVY IN MERIDIAN, MS AND ALSO TO HERRIN-GEAR IN JACKSON MS. THEY HAVE BOTH SAID THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I WENT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO TRY TO TRADE THE VEHICLE AND THEY WON'T TAKE IT BECAUSE THEY CLAIM THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOUR TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE MOST RECENT TIME WAS ON 5/21/2020. *TR

I OWN A 2015 TAHOE THAT I REALLY WANT TO LIKE, BUT THE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN ONE AFTER ANOTHER! I HAVE HAD MY WINDOW PANELS REPLACED 3 TIMES. MY DVD PLAYER STOPPED WORKING. MY A/C JUST HAD TO BE REPAIRED FOR A LEAKING CONDENSER, AND NOW MY BACK HATCH WON'T OPEN DUE TO THE MOTOR GOING OUT. OH...AND I ALMOST FORGOT I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT ONSTAR/ GPS FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW BECAUSE THAT IS ALSO BROKEN.

MY 2015 TAHOE LTZ MAKES AN EXTREMELY IRRITATING RATTLING SOUND IN THE DASH ON THE DRIVERS SIDE I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS

  5. Other or unspecified, Mar 1, 2020

THE 2ND ROW DVD SCREEN WENT BLACK. I PAID TOO MUCH MONEY AND CONTINUOUSLY DRIVE GMC VEHICLES TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM I HARDLY USE IT AN THIS HAS HAPPENED TO LOTS OF PEOPLE. IF YOUR PAYING THIS MUCH FOR A CAR, TRUCK, ETC IT SHOULD BE WORTH IT NOT A PIECE OF JUNK.

  6. Power train, Other or unspecified, Service brakes, Jan 24, 2020

SINCE PURCHASING MY VEHICLE IN 2016 I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES. I HAVE ALWAYS NOTICED A DRIP OF OIL IN MY GARAGE THAT WASN'T CONSISTENT AND WHEN TELLING MY DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT THEY STATED THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT AND FOUND NOTHING. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE SIDE DOOR BLACK FASCIA FLEW OFF, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED 3 STATING IT WAS STILL UNDER THE 34K WARRANTY. I HAD REQUESTED THEY REPLACE/SECURE THE 4TH AND WAS TOLD IT WAS FINE AND DIDN'T NEED REPLACING. I RETURNED FOR AN OIL CHANGE ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER AND REPORTED THE ONE THAT WAS NOT REPLACED IS NOW LOOSE AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP I WAS OUT OF MY WARRANTY PERIOD AND WOULD BE CHARGED AN HOUR LABOR AS WELL AS PARTS, COSTING ROUGHLY $120.00. I THEN HAD MY AC GO OUT IN SUMMER OF 2019 AND HAD THAT REPLACED SUPPOSEDLY A RECALL. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE IN FALL 2019 I MENTIONED MY CAR WAS NOT STOPPING PROPERLY WHILE BRAKING AND THEY INFORMED ME THERE WAS A CURRENT RECALL THAT WOULD FIX THE ISSUE AND THAT WAS PERFORMED. I WAS STILL NOTICING THE BRAKING ISSUES. IN NOV.2019 I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE MISFIRING WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WORSENED AND I HAD TO GET IT TOWED. I WAS INFORMED I WOULD NOT GET A LOANER CAR AS ALL OF THEIRS WERE OUT TO PEOPLE WITH PARTS REQUIRED WITHOUT AN ETA FROM GM. I WAS CALLED 4 DAYS LATER AS I HAD NOT HEARD BACK AND WAS TOLD MY CAR NEEDED A REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION AS WELL AS A NEW VACUUM PUMP AS THIS HAD FAILED AND IS THE REASON FOR THE HARD BRAKING. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AND I WAS TOLD TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE BECAUSE THE VACUUM PUMP IS ON BACK-ORDER WITHOUT AN ETA AND "I STILL HAVE MY ABS THAT WILL ASSIST WITH STOPPING".

FIRST OFF, MY DOME LIGHTS. THEY FLICKER ON AND OFF EVERY TIME I HIT MY BREAKS OR EVERY TIME I TURN MY LEFT BLINKER ON. SECONDLY, MY AIR CONDITIONER! I LIVE IN A VERY HOT AND HUMID STATE. I HAVE ALREADY FIXED THE A/C IN MY TAHOE ONCE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SUMMER. NOW I AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS I WAS THEN.

  11. Electrical system, Exterior lighting, Other or unspecified, Jul 19, 2019

HEAVY MOISTURE IS ACCUMULATING IN THE FRONT LEFT HEADLIGHT WITH NO CRACKS IN THE LIGHT. IT IS CAUSING THE LEFT FRONT TURN SIGNAL TO MALFUNCTION WITH A WARNING ON CONTROL PANEL. THIS IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVING WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS WITH NO FRONT TURN SIGNAL AND WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT EVENTUALLY TO SOME OWNERS WHO CANNOT AFFORD TO GET IT FIXED. CHEVY WILL NOT TAKE OWNERSHIP OF FAULTY DESIGN, PART, OR SYSTEM AND WANTS OWNER OF CAR TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIR COSTS WHICH ARE VERY HIGH ON THESE FAULTY PARTS. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WE PURCHASED DOES NOT WANT TO PAY FOR REPAIR EITHER WHY SHOULD THE OWNER WHO HAS NO CONTROL OVER THE INSTALLATION OF DEFECTIVE SYSTEM HAVE TO PAY FOR IT ? PLEASE HELP SAVE LIVES FROM POTENTIAL CRASHES.

  12. Other or unspecified, Jul 16, 2019

FAILURE OF A/C SYSTEM WITH LESS THAN 60,000 MI. I DIDN'T USE THE WARRANTY BECAUSE IT HAPPENED DURING WINTER. I THOUGHT IT JUST NEEDED A RECHARGE BUT IT STILL DOESN'T WORK. SEEMS LIKE A COMPRESSOR. PRETTY UNSAFE IN THE SUMMER AND I HAVE READ OF LOTS OF FAILURES AND REPAIRS WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PARTS.

AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING. IT IS ONLY BLOWING HOT AIR.

  14. Other or unspecified, Jul 9, 2019

THE A/C COMPRESSOR FAILED FROM A MELTED CLUTCH. I TOOK MY TAHOE IN FOR A ALIGNMENT AND THE A/C WAS WORKING FINE 2 DAYS LATER I HAD TO TAKE THE TAHOE BACK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE ALIGNMENT FELT OFF. THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED THE ALIGNMENT AND DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I PICKED UP THE CAR AND NOTICED THE A/C WAS NO LONGER WORKING. I TOOK THE TAHOE TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BECAUSE THE PREVIOUS DEALERSHIP ASSURED ME THEY DIDN'T CAUSE THE ISSUE EVEN THOUGH IT HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER I PICKED UP THE TAHOE, AND THE A/C WAS WORKING WHEN I BROUGHT THE TAHOE INTO THE FIRST DEALER SHIP TO HAVE THE ALIGNMENT CHECKED AGAIN. OUR TAHOE ONLY HAS 50K MILES AND THIS ISSUES SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. I HAVE READ ONLINE AND THERE HAS BEEN MANY A/C ISSUES WITH THESE MODEL YEAR TAHOE AND GM EVEN ISSUES AND EXTENDED WARRANTY ON CERTAIN ISSUES WITH A/C, BUT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO MINE AND GM HAS YET TO ADDRESS THEM

  15. Other or unspecified, May 16, 2019

THE AC CONDENSOR WENT OUT. I'VE RESEARCHED AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF OTHER 2015 TAHOE OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. GM KNOWS THEY HAVE A FAULTY CONDENSOR BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

  16. Other or unspecified, Apr 5, 2019

MY AC CONDENSER IS CRACKED AND LEAKING FREON AND IS NOT BLOWING COOL AIR. I'VE READ MULTIPLE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM ON THIS MODEL TAHOE AND AM WONDERING WHY THERE ISN'T A RECALL WHEN SO MANY ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE CONDENSER. NOW I'M HAVING TO FORK OUT $1200 TO FIX IT ON A NEWER MODEL TAHOE WITH LOW MILES AND IT'S REDICULOUS WHEN SO MANY PEOPLE ARE REPORTING THE SAME THING! PLEASE GIVE IT A RECALL!

  17. Other or unspecified, Service brakes, Mar 28, 2019

I INITIALLY NOTICED DIFFICULTY WITH BRAKING WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT A VERY LOW RATE OF SPEED. THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME HARD AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL BACKWARD, WITH FULL WEIGHT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH LATER I WAS IN BUMPER-TO-BUMPER, STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC AND THE BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN HARD AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL FORWARD. THIS ISSUE DID NOT OCCUR DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, ONLY AT LOW RATES OF SPEED AND WITH FREQUENT, REPETIVE STOPPING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL CHEVROLET SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE OR IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THE PROBLEM WAS LIKELY DUE TO 'OVER USE' OF THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE IS DESIGNED TO BE 'PUMPED' RATHER THAN COMPRESSED FOR MORE THAN A FEW SECONDS. I TOOK THE VEHEHICLE TO A SECOND CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM PUMP AND THIS SEEMS HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUE. I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS DUE TO FEAR THE BRAKES WOULD FAIL. THE VEHICLE HAS 54,000 MILES AND WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM A DEALERSHIP.

  18. Structure, Other or unspecified, Service brakes, Mar 19, 2019, crash

HAVING ISSUES WITH BRAKING. OCCASIONALLY AT HIGH SPEEDS, BUT MORE OFTEN DURING LOWER SPEEDS. THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES VERY HARD TO DEPRESS AND MEANWHILE THE VEHICLE IS STILL MOVING, NOT ALLOWING YOU TO STOP. HAPPENS ALSO GOING IN REVERSE. HAD A COLLISION, HIT THE REAR END OF ANOTHER VEHICLE YESTERDAY MORNING DURING RUSH HOUR, 3/18/2019. I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO 15 MPH, DUE TO A RED LIGHT, BUT BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT BRAKE, BECOMING VERY STIFF, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO BRAKE, AND STOPPED DUE TO THE COLLISION. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT. FRONT BODY SEVERE DAMAGE TO MY TAHOE. POLICE REPORT HAS BEEN FILED. WE BOUGHT THIS TAHOE IN FALL OF 2017, AND FEBRUARY 2017, TOOK INTO THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO THE BRAKING ISSUES, NOTHING WAS FOUND OR DONE TO THE BRAKE SYSTEM. TAHOE IS BACK AT DEALERSHIP AS OF TODAY, AND NOTHING HAS BEEN FOUND, ACCORDING TO CHEVY TECHS

  19. Other or unspecified, Electronic stability control (ESC), Mar 8, 2019

STABILITRAK COMES ON AND LOCKS THE STEERING WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED APPROX. 4 TIMES AND THE DEALERSHIP DOESN'T KNOW WHY, NOR HAVE THEY RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. WATER KEEPS GETTING IN THE VEHICLE AND THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHERE IT'S COMING FROM EITHER. THEY HAVE TRIED 6 TIMES

I RAN INTO OUR INDUSTRIAL FAN IN OUR GARAGE BECAUSE I COULDN'T STOP. WE ALMOST LOST OUR LIVES TWICE WHILE MY 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN THERE BECYWE COULDN'T BREAK. I'VE CALLED DEALERSHIPS AND GM BOUT PROBLEMS AND THEY STATED THAT THEY'VE HAD SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT BUT IT'S NOT RECALL AND THAT CAN NOT REIMBURSE ME ESPECIALLY IF I KET A THIRD PARTY FIX IT. I'M UNEMPLOYED AND PAY A NOTE ON THIS VEHICLE. I'VE HAD PROBLEMS SINCE I PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW! ALSO THE REAR CAMERA NEVER WORK IT BARELY WORK IT'S A VERY SMALL ONE THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WILL INSTALL THE REGULAR ONE IN THAT EVERY TAHOE HAS BECAUSE MINE HAS A DEFECT AND IT'S NOT THE TOUCHSCREEN THAT ALL TABLES HAVE AND NO PARTS FOR THIS ONE BUT GM WOULDN'T AGREE WITH IT THEY'VE DONE EVERYTHING TO THE BACK UP CAMERA AND IT KEEP GOING IN AND OUT AND HAS TO HAVE UPDATED MY LINK RADIO. THAT'S DANGEROUS. AS WELL AS THE BRAKE CABLE KEEP SLIPPING AND CAUSING MAJOR SQEAKING WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS SPEED BUMPS AND ETC. AND THE MOTOR MOUNTS STILL NOT FIXED I'VE TAKING IT SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT THE MAJOR SHAKE AND VIBRATION FROM IT WHILE AT LIGHTS OR STILL AND THEY'VE CHANGED THEM OUT SHAVED THEM DOWN STILL NO HELP SO THEY WERE STILL WAITING ON GM TO COME OUT WITH A PART TO FIX IT. MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED NOW THIS ALL NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND REPLACED I HAVE A DAUGHTER AND WE ARE SCARED THAT SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN. THE BRAKE ISSUE HAD BEEN GOING ON FOR A YEAR AND EVENTUALLY IT GOTTEN WORSE AND COULDN'T STOP AT ALL. BRAKE PUMP AND VACUUM PUMP. WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR US TO LOOSE OUR LIVES FOR IT TO BE FIXED. I'VE HAD SOMEONE TO FIX THE BRAKE ISSUES AND IT COST A LOT AND GM WILL NOT REIMBURSE ME PLEASE HELP I HAVE PROOF AND RECEIPTS OF EVERYTHING.

AT LOW SPEEDS MY BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GET EXTREMELY HARD TO PUSH DOWN CAUSING THE CAR TO BE DIFFICULT TO STOP. AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURNING IT BACK ON IT SEEMED FINE. A FEW WEEKS WENT BY WITH NO ISSUES AND THEN IT RETURNED WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON AND IT SEEMED TO BE WORKING FINE. ANOTHER 3 DAYS PASSES AND THEN BRAKE PEDAL GETS HARD AND CAN BARELY STOP THE CAR CAUSING A CLOSE COLLISION. THE SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST LIGHT COMES ON AND THE BRAKES ARE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO PUSH TO MAKE THE CAR STOP. DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME CAREFULLY DUE TO NEEDING TO STEP ON THE BRAKES EXTREMELY HARD. REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND STILL NOT WORKING. REPLACED THE VACUUM PUMP AND LINE TO FIX THE ISSUE. THIS CAUSED MANY CLOSE CALLS AS THE FIRST TIME I WAS BACKING INTO A PARKING SPOT AND ALMOST HIT THE WALL. THE OTHER TIMES I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A DRIVE THROUGH ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND DRIVING THROUGH A NEIGHBORHOOD TOWING AND ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AT THE STOP SIGN.

MY 4 WHEEL DRIVE TRANSFER CASE MAKES A HIGH PITCHED NOISE WHEN IT IS IN 4AUTO AND 4 HIGH. GM TOLD ME THIS IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE TRANFER CASE THATS INSTALLED IN MY SUV. NOT ALL TRANSFERENCE MAKE THIS NOISE, THE TAHOE LOANER CAR DOES NOT MAKE THIS NOISE. MY BOTHERS 2015 SILVERADO MADE THE SAME NOISE IN 4 AUTO AND HIGH

2015 CHEVROLET TAHOE WAS PARKED ON MODERATELY SLOPED DRIVEWAY. ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING. VEHICLE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WAS IN "PARK" POSITION. VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY ROLLED BACK SEVERAL FEET, AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE. OTHER VEHICLE ALSO OWNED BY ME. SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES. NOT INFLUENCED BY DRIVER. AFTER SOME RESEARCH IT IS MY BELIEF THE APPARENT PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION/SOFTWARE. I DID FIND WHERE THERE WAS A RECALL #14192 FOR THIS ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED COOLING AND STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING LIKE A STROBE LIGHT. I HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 44,790

THE AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER NEEDS REPLACED ON A 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. IT WILL COST ME $1,000 AND THIS IS A KNOWN GM PROBLEM. I JUST HAD TO REPLACE THE STRUTS ON IT AND THAT WAS OVER $1,300.
