Fuel system, diesel, storage, tank assemblySep 18, 2025
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021 Cadillac Escalade, 2021, 2023-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2022 and 2024 GMC Yukon vehicles equipped with a 6-cylinder diesel engine. The original fuel tank may have been replaced with an incorrect fuel tank, which can allow fuel to leak in a rollover crash.
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a vehicle fire.
Dealers will inspect for the correct fuel tank and replace it, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 5, 2025. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N252512770. Service brakes, hydraulic, brake fluid low warning, lampSep 12, 2024
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2023-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, and Escalade ESV vehicles. The electronic brake control module software may fail to display a warning light when a loss of brake fluid occurs. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."
Without a warning light, the vehicle may be driven with low brake fluid, which can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash.
The Electronic Brake Control Module (eBCM) software will be updated through an over-the-air (OTA) update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 25, 2024. Owners can contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N242447990.

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The rear suspension outer control arm bolts may not have been properly heat-treated, which can cause the bolts to break.
A broken suspension bolt can result in misalignment of the rear wheel, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace both rear suspension outer control arm bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 14, 2023. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020; Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006; and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N232415910.

The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
DRLs that do not deactivate as intended may result in a glare, reducing visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash.
The body control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2023. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N222386380. Since 15,394 miles vehicle has experience multiple system failures upon vehicle startup. 2/24, 2/25, 12/25, 1/26. In all of these 4 instances the brakes become spongy/hard, steering wheel locks, and I am not able to control vehicle. Dash lights up; "Brake system failure - 43mph top speed", "Fwd collision system unavailable", "Service traction control", "Service ESC", "Service steering column lock", "Service brake pad monitor". Dealership has replaced, Telematic control module, Electronic brake control module (EBCM), Serial data gateway module, Park assist module and most recently they replaced the battery and cleared the codes to "fix" the same intermittent but recurring condition. In 11/24 Recall N242447990 was performed, reprogramming of Brake system control module and Serial Data Gateway Module, the exact same issue happened before and after the recall.

To NHTSA, I am reporting a serious safety defect in my 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe purchased from Criswell Chevrolet (Gaithersburg, MD). Defects include a documented brake system failure while driving and repeated electrical/shift faults preventing shifting out of Park. The issue is ongoing even after the dealer/manufacturer stated it was fixed. Key events: Feb 3, ~12:45 pm: While traveling ~35–39 mph on a five‑lane road, brakes failed. I slowed by coasting uphill and using maximum pedal force to ~5–7 mph before stopping. I have video of the incident and two other times this has happened with pictures as the car was in park. Three prior start-up incidents: All dash lights illuminated (including brake failure and Forward Collison System Unavailable); vehicle stuck in Park. First required towing; dealer could not replicate despite reported stored codes. Subsequent event stranded my family. I have notified Chevrolet and the dealer; their offer does not address safety or recurrence. Please record this complaint, assess broader risk, and advise on related recalls/investigations. If there is a path forward to ensure the safety of my family, please respond with that guidance. My phone number is [XXX] . Electrical system, Service brakes, Jan 28, 2026
When I started my car at home, all of the dash warning lights came on, one after another. I put the car in reverse and started backing out of my driveway. I tried to stop but there were NO BRAKES! I slowly pulled back into my driveway and turned the car off. I had to take off work that day because I didn't dare to drive the car. The next day I started the car up and the check engine light was on. Luckily, I had brakes and I could go to work. Now, a day later, my engine light is not on. I made an appointment at the dealership. They can't get me in until mid February so I'm stuck with this problem, not knowing if the brakes are going to fail while driving. Oddly enough, when talking to a co-worker who has a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban, she recently had the same exact problem with her car. She has an appointment scheduled as well. I also read a complaint on this website that had identical problems. This car only has 8500 miles on it. It's still new! Someone is going to be killed or hurt very badly if this ever happens while driving. Please look into this.

The following notifications showed up on my dashboard as my breaks failed me! I was going down a hill and hit the breaks and they would not work, I could NOT stop the car! - service break pads - forward collision system unavailable - break system failure - service traction control - service esc - check engine light on This is the SECOND time this has happened in 4 weeks. We just got it back from getting it “fixed” one month ago. One of the scariest experiences, losing breaks!
Vehicle speed control, Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Jan 22, 2026
Vehicle was around empty with 40miles remaining and would not start via keyless remote. Upon starting the vehicle all lights on the dashboard came on, this has happened previously and it fixed itself. When this happens, I have 0 brakes. Forward Collision unavailable, Service Brake Pads monitor, Service Traction Control, Service Steering Column, but most importantly Brake System Failure
Steering, Electrical system, Service brakes, Dec 17, 2025
The car was parked totally normal, went into a store, then came out to start it and when it was put in drive every light on the dash came on and gave a warning for “brake system failure top speed 43 mph” “service traction control” “service esc” “service steering column lock” “service brake pad monitor” “trailer brakes disabled service required”. Shut the vehicle off and restarted with same results. Brakes were inoperable and almost hit the car parked in front of me. Let the car shut down for a couple hours came back and started it and now everything acts normal except there is a Check engine light. Haven’t read the codes yet but am making an appointment at the dealer for warranty work.

Vehicle suddenly lost breaking power while driving . The vehicle system shows Antilock Braking System issues. Losing Break power while driving has serious consequences
Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Dec 4, 2025
On 12/3/2025, I moved my car in the driveway at 11:15am EST without any issue. At 6pm EST, myself and 2 young daughters got into the car to head out an hour away. As I went to drive away, I stepped on the brake and the car did not immediately stop…the brakes failed and came to a rolling stop. At that moment all types of warning and lights lit up the dashboard. I placed the car in park exactly where it was in the driveway and left it. I also tried to select the Ebrake and it would not engage. I called the dealer first thing the next morning as that had been closed at the time it happened. I was told to bring it in and not to drive it so nobody in my car or else would be at risk. The car was towed at my expense to the dealer. When I got in touch with the dealer that afternoon to get a status. They advised the believe the BCM needed to be updated because it seem to not be communicating properly but wanted to keep it over night to retest it before they sent me home with it. Going to point out several things…thankfully I had not left my house, as I live on a mountain and should that have happened while descending it could have been catastrophic. No warning or anything that the brakes would fail! According to records it shows the did a recall update back in Feb 2025 regarding the BCM- however, how are we sure it truly was fixed or was defective. GM/Chevy needs to take accountability for this defect and safety hazard that could result in death. In reading forums, I am not the only one this has happened to

While driving my Tahoe on the highway at normal speeds approximately 65mph. I tried to exit freeway and my brakes were unresponsive. At this moment i began to allow the vehicle tto slow down on its own. I was able to safely exit the highway and the dealer ship was right off the exit. at low sppeeds i could push the brake pedal all the way down and acchieve some braking capability.
Steering, Service brakes, Aug 11, 2025
I was driving down [XXX] in LaPuente and every light on my dash lit up and I attempted to Exit freeway and my brakes would not work so I waited for car to slow down and luckily I was near by the Puente hills Chevrolet dealer. Also my steering wheel was very lose and it felt that I couldn’t steer well. I pulled into dealership and had to push my brakes all the way to the floor board just for Tahoe to stop. Dealer said that there was various communication codes which they said vehicle would have to stay due to safety issues. My vehicle has been at dealer for 3 days so far INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Jul 24, 2025
On multiple occasions my vehicle brakes with no warning. So much so I can hear the tires screech ever time. I brought to a dealership and they told me they can’t find the issue and no fault codes. This is understandable due to the fact that it doesn’t always happen. It’ll go so times a full day without happening. It mostly happens on the highway but happened today (24-July-2025) around 17:30. So needless to say this is a huge issue especially seeing I have three small children. Thank you so much for your time in this matter and I hope this finds you well.

I went to reverse and my brakes didn’t work, the error then came on dash “break system failure max speed 43 mph” I then had to drift into a parking lot to wait for my car to stop. Car dealership said they can’t find anything wrong, I have images showing the error
Service brakes, Engine, Feb 3, 2025
1st incident- Engine had a bad lifter and cam shaft with 46,000miles. When this happened I was going through a railroad crossing, if the failure was bad enough and locked the engine up I would have been stuck on the tracks with my family. This issue could cause the motor to lock up if the lifter or cam shaft had a more serious failure. Dealer confirmed the lifter and cam shaft were bad and replaced. the engine had a vibration 2 weeks before the failure but the dealership could not identify or duplicate the issue. Vehicle was in the shop for 35 days to repair. 2nd incident- Parking brake and brake system locked up and would not release until the vehicle was reset. Scheduled vehicle to be towed in and the brakes locked up again while loading the vehicle to tow. Dealer is still troubleshooting the issue after 5 days. Errors on screen "Forward Collision System unavailable, Brake system failure 43mph top speed, Service steering column lock, service traction control, Service ESC, Service Brake Pad Monitor" If this happened while on the highway it had the chance to cause a serious wreck.

While driving, without warning my brake system failed and vehicle did not stop when I applied my foot on the breaks. In addition to while driving up a steep incline the engine failed as I was actively applying my foot to the gas pedal causing vehicle to roll backwards. Most importantly i do not feel confident using this vehicle any further knowing that the brakes are Not operating as they should, risking my life and my children’s life is nonnegotiable. Someone help please.

On January 21, 2025 while with my family in -15 degrees, the vehicle suddenly went into ABS lock. We were completely immobilized and unable to move the vehicle. The following warning lights illuminated on the dashboard:Antilock Braking System errorService Steering Column LockService Traction ControlBrake System Failure 43 MPH top speed. The vehicle was effectively locked, preventing us from driving or even reversing. This left me and my family stranded in a potentially hazardous situation with the freezing temperatures.
Electrical system, Service brakes, Apr 2, 2024, crash
Bought new and there was a brake pad sensor message immediately that we took it to the dealer several times for and nothing was done other than clearing the code and giving it back. Was in accident 1/24 and it was found that there was a frayed/damaged wire in the break module and break pad sensor that I feel could have led to the accident

While driving this rental vehicle in traffic it shutdown and came to an abrupt halt. All lights on the dash were flashing, emergency hazard lights would not turn on. Attempted to restart vehicle with no result. After 2 minutes vehicle dash lights went off and hazard lights were able to be turned on. Vehicle then restarted. While pulling vehicle off the road, brakes were not responsive.
