Equipment, electrical, engine block heaterJan 15, 2026
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Focus, 2013-2019 Escape, and 2015-2016 MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.
An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed March 6, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S01. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on January 16, 2026.

Power train, automatic transmission, gear position indication (prndl)Jun 10, 2022
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.
A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

Latches/locks/linkages, doors, latchJun 8, 2020
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

Power train, automatic transmission, lever and linkage, floor shiftJul 16, 2018
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2014 Ford Escape, and 2013-2016 Ford Fusion vehicles, equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions. The bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission may degrade over time and cause the bushing to detach from the transmission. The condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to Park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in Park, with no warning message or audible chime.
If the vehicle is exited without the transmission being in Park and without the parking brake being applied, the vehicle may unexpectedly move, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the shifter cable bushing, free of charge. The recall began September 20, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S20. Note: Owners are directed to use the parking brake until the recall remedy repairs can be made.

Engine and engine coolingDec 3, 2012
This is an update to a recently announced recall. Ford is recalling certain model year 2013 Escape vehicles manufactured from October 5, 2011, through November 26, 2012, equipped with 1.6L engines, as well as certain model year 2013 Fusion vehicles manufactured from February 3, 2012, through November 29, 2012, equipped with 1.6L engines. Coolant system leaks may cause the engines to overheat and leak flammable engine fluids.
If flammable engine fluids come in contact with the vehicles hot exhaust system, a vehicle fire could occur.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the engine for coolant system leaks and reprogram the vehicles powertrain control module and instrument cluster with an updated calibration and overheat strategy software. There will be no charge to owners for this service. Owners were recently notified to contact dealers to arrange for alternative transportation as Ford developed a remedy. Owners will be shortly receiving notifications to contact Ford dealers to schedule the free remedy repair. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.

FORD IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2013 ESCAPE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM MARCH 8, 2012 THROUGH JUNE 7, 2012. DUE TO MIS-POSITIONED CARPET PADDING THE CENTER CONSOLE TRIM PANEL MAY BE PUSHED OUTBOARD OF THE INTENDED POSITION, REDUCING CLEARANCE RELATIVE TO THE PEDAL PACKAGE.
THE REDUCED CLEARANCE MAY RESULT IN THE DRIVER?S FOOT CONTACTING THE SIDE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL WHILE TRANSFERRING THE FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, INCREASING STOPPING DISTANCES AND THE RISK OF A CRASH.
FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REMOVE THE CARPET PADDING AND LEFT-SIDE CONSOLE TRIM PANEL REPLACED WITH A NEW PANEL, FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 20, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-866-436-7332.

EXPERIENCING THE SAME EXACT ISSUES AS NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V813000. FORD KEEPS LOOKING INTO THIS PROBLEM BUT SAY NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. CAR STALLED SEVERAL TIMES IN LIVE TRAFFIC AND ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH. ENGINE SHUTS OFF UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN DRIVING. THE MAP SENSOR FINALLY THREW A CODE P0106 AND AFTER REPLACEMENT IT RAN FINE FOR A DAY AND STALLED AGAIN WHICH POINTS TO THE HARNESS. THE INCIDENTS WHERE IT ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH WHERE WHEN I WAS ON I75 AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SLOWED DOWN, I PRESSED THE BREAKS AND MY CAR LOST COMPLETE ENGINE POWER WHICH WAS VERY SCARY.
Power train, Aug 28, 2018
I BOUGHT THE CAR 09/03/13. ON 05/26/16, I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK & ON A PARKWAY AS I WAS ACCELERATING TO 45 MPH, THE ENGINE REVVED TO APPROXIMATELY 6500 RPMS WITHOUT ENGAGING THE GEAR, THEN SHIFTED. ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER, I STOPPED AT A LIGHT ON A THREE-LANE ROAD (40 MPH SPEED LIMIT). WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL AND THE ENGINE REVVED BUT DID NOT ENGAGE; I SLID BACKWARD. I BRAKED TO STOP FROM HITTING THE CAR BEHIND, LET THEM PASS, THEN TURNED OFF THE CAR, AS I SMELLED BURNING. I TURNED THE CAR ON & PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL UNTIL EVENTUALLY IT ENGAGED IN FIRST GEAR & WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ENOUGH TO GET OFF THE ROAD. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THERE WAS A LEAK FOUND TO BE DUE TO TSB 3B16-0043. TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE DISASSEMBLED, CLEANED, AND REBUILT DUE TO HIGH AMOUNTS OF DEBRIS. EVEN AFTER THE REPAIR, THE CAR WOULD STILL SHUDDER INTERMITTENTLY WHEN I SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE & WENT TO ACCELERATE. ON 02/12/18, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN WHILE I WAS IN MOTION AT APPROX. 25 MPH IN STOP & GO TRAFFIC. I PUSHED THE GAS, THE TRANSMISSION DIDN'T RESPOND; THE ENGINE JUST REVVED. I WAS STILL IN MOTION, SLOWED DOWN, THEN PUSHED THE GAS AGAIN & IT SHUDDERED THEN SHIFTED. I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY & PUT THE CAR IN PARK. I TESTED IT BY TRYING TO DRIVE FORWARD; THE CAR SLID BACKWARDS. I DIDN'T PUSH THE PEDAL ENOUGH TO ENGAGE FIRST GEAR AS I DIDN'T WANT TO CAUSE DAMAGE. I WAS AGAIN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND AGAIN THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED A TEARDOWN, CLEANING, & REBUILD DUE TO DEBRIS. BASED ON BOTH TICKETS, I BELIEVED THE CENTER SUPPORT IS A DEFECTIVE PART; I LEARNED TODAY THERE IS A NEW RECALL, 18V471000, FOR A BUSHING THAT ATTACHES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION. UNKNOWN IF THIS IS THE CAUSE. CAR IS AGAIN SHUDDERING WHEN SHIFT R TO D THEN ACCELERATING. I HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT.

MY AIR CONDITIONING TURNS FROM COLD & THEN INSTANTLY TO WARM. THE BLOWER IS STILL ON BUT NOT AS STRONG WHEN IT TURNS WARM. IF ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON THE AIR COMES ON COLD. SPEED DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A FACTOR FOR IT HAPPENS AT DIFFERENT TIMES, IN TOWN DRIVING SPEEDS AND ALSO ON THE HIGHWAY/FREEWAY AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. THE FASTEST I GO IS 80 ON THE HIGHWAY. I DRIVE 110 MILES FROM LAS VEGAS TO MESQUITE, NV EACH WEEK AND HAVE TO STOP AT LEAST 3-4 TIMES TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE OFF & TURN IT RIGHT BACK SO THE COLD COMES BACK ON. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR I LIVE IN THE DESERT AND DRIVE FROM LAS VEGAS, NV 110 MILES ACROSS THE DESERT EACH WEEK. I DID TAKE IT INTO FORD AND THEY CHARGED ME $240.00 DOLLARS TO DIAGNOSE THE AC BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE & FIND THE PROBLEM. THEY STILL CHARGED ME. SYSTEM PRESSURE AT 30/160. ANOTHER MECHANIC, WHO USED TO WORK FOR FORD TOLD ME FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM, HAS HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME SITUATION. I AM AFRAID EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS 100 + DEGREES OUT. THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED STARTING IN MAY WHEN IT TURNED WARM HERE IN THE LAS VEGAS AREA AND I STARTING USING THE AIR CONDITIONER.

ALTHOUGH THERE WAS NOT A PERCEPTIBLE DIFFERENCE IN DRIVING, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO SERVICE IMMEDIATELY. RESULTS FROM DEALER SERVICE ADVISOR: "IT APPEARS THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS SLIPPING INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION, THE TRANS OVER TEMP LIGHT IS COMING ON AS A RESULT OF THE CONVERTER SLIPPING, SO ULTIMATELY IT WILL NEED THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED. I KNOW YOU ARE JUST OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY AND THE REPAIR IS QUITE UNEXPECTED AND COSTLY. 1. MIS-FIRING CAUSING THE ENTIRE VEHICLE TO ROCK, SEEN MAINLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS IN GEAR WITH THE BREAK ENGAGED AT A STOP SIGNAL. 2. SUDDEN OVER-REVVING SEEN ON THE TACHOMETER. 3. THE OVER-REVVING USUALLY PRECEDES THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE SPIKING INTO THE CRITICAL AREA. THIS IS MOST LIKELY TO HAPPEN ON INCLINES. PULLING OVER, SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE ALLOWING IT TO COOL DOWN FOR 10-15 MINUTES, THEN EVERYTHING IS FINE. I HAVE LEARNED TO WATCH FOR THE OVER-REVVING, THEN APPLY THE BRAKE TO STOP THE OVER-REVVING. THEN HAS ALLOWED ME TO KEEP THE OVER-HEATING IN CHECK.

ON WED AUGUST 22ND, 2018, I WAS RUNNING ERRANDS. I LEFT A STORE, ENTERED MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM, AND BEGAN TO SLOWLY BACK OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE. AFTER BACKING OUT OF THE SPACE, I PUT THE SHIFTER INTO D AND BEGAN TO TRY TO DRIVE FORWARD, BUT MY VEHICLE INSTEAD CONTINUED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. I IMMEDIATELY PRESSED MY BRAKE PEDAL, WHICH STOPPED IT FROM ROLLING BACKWARDS, AND PUT THE SHIFTER INTO P. THOUGH MY VEHICLE SHOWED THAT IT WAS IN PARK, IT CONTINUED TO ROLL BACKWARDS IF I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. I WAS ABLE TO REVERSE MY CAR DOWN THE PARKING LOT AND BACK INTO A PARKING SPACE AT THE END OF THE LOT. ALL THE WHILE, MY 2013 ESCAPE SHOWED THAT IT WAS IN PARK. I TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF, BUT HAD TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO ENSURE THAT IT WOULD NOT CONTINUE ROLLING BACKWARDS. WHEN I TRIED TO TURN THE VEHICLE BACK ON A MINUTE LATER, I WAS NOT ABLE TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN. IT BECAME LOCKED, AND I COULDN'T TURN THE ENGINE ON, SHIFT, OR DO ANYTHING EXCEPT TURN PRESS THE IGNITION BUTTON TO TURN ON/OFF THE RADIO/AC/LIGHTS/ELECTRICAL, ETC. (DURING THIS WHOLE TIME, THERE WAS NEVER ANY WARNING LIGHTS LIT OR ANY INDICATION AT ALL THAT A PROBLEM WAS ABOUT TO OCCUR OR CURRENTLY OCCURING.) I HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY/CABLE THAT BROKE, WHICH IS THE EXACT ISSUE IN THE RECALL FORD ISSUED ON OVER 500,000 2013 FORD ESCAPES IN JULY 2018. HOWEVER, DESPITE MY VEHICLE HAVING THE EXACT MECHANICAL FAILURE AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL NOTICE, I WAS TOLD BY FORD WHEN I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER DIRECTLY, THAT MY VEHICLE WAS ASSEMBLED AT A PLANT THAT HAS NOT BEEN ADDED TO THE RECALL. OBVIOUSLY THIS ISSUE IS MORE VAST AND WIDESPREAD THAN FORD IS WILLING TO ADMIT. BECAUSE MY ESCAPE IS FROM A FACTORY THAT HASN'T BEEN ADDED TO THE RECALL YET, FORD REFUSES TO COVER THE COST OF REPAIRS. THIS IS INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING.

A FEW MONTHS AFTER BUYING MY CAR IT BEGAN TO HAVE COOLING ISSUES. MY CAR IS CONTINUOUSLY OVERHEATING AND NEEDING COOLANT. AS I AM DRIVING THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT/ DISPLAY WILL COME ON AND THEN MY CAR WILL SLOW DOWN THEN STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AS WELL AS THE CITY STREETS. I ADD COOLANT TO MY CAR AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK AND THIS ISSUE CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. WHEN I AM PARKED MY CAR IS FINE BUT AS I AM DRIVING IT GETS REALLY DANGEROUS. THERE WERE TIMES WHEN THE PERSON BEHIND ME WOULD HAVE TO SLAM ON THEIR BREAKS OR SWERVE TO AVOID SLAMMING INTO THE BACK OF ME. IT IS A TRUE MIRACLE I HAVE NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE A SMALL CHILD AND SHE IS TERRIFIED TO BE IN MY VEHICLE. I FEEL THAT THERE IS AN OVERALL PROBLEM WITH THE COOLING SYSTEM. I HAVE TALKED TO VARIOUS PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR AND WE ALL EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUES.

I WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, NOT WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, AND WAS INFORMED THIS CAR IS NOT SUBJECT TO RECALL EVEN THOUGH THE SAME MODELS AND YEAR RANGE HAVE THIS EXACT SAFETY HAZARD & FAULT. MY VEHICLE IS NOW AT THE MECHANIC, THAT THE DEALERSHIP CHOSE, AND THEY SAY IT IS A $2,000.00 REPAIR WITH AN UNDERTERMINED TIME FRAME TO REPAIR IT. UNFORTUNATELY THE FIRE PUT ITSELF OUT (WISH IT HADN'T B/C THEN MY INSURANCE WOULD HAVE TOTALED IT). BUT IT CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE BEFORE IT WENT OUT. OIL LEAK OCCURRED FROM THE CYLINDER HEAD OR VALVE COVER GASKET DUE TO OVERHEATING AND ENGINE OIL IGNITED ON THE ENGINE EXHAUST SYSTEM STARTING THE FIRE. THIS ALL OCCURRED ON THE SIDE OF US 60 AS MY HUSBAND PULLED OVER AS SOON AS HE REALIZED IT WAS ON FIRE. VEHICLE NOW NEEDS A NEW ENGINE

WHEN I PRESS ON THE BRAKE, WHEN SETTING IN TRAFFIC SOME TIME THE CAR IT JUMP FORWARD INSTEAD OF STOPPING IT FEEL LIKE SOME BODY HIT YOU FROM THE BACK. LAST WEEK I FELT A STRONGER JUMP WHEN I WAS IN TRAFFIC. THE FOLLOWING DAY WHEN I TRIED TO DRIVE THE CAR DID NOT MOVE BUT WHEN I HIT THE GAS LIGHT IT CLICK AND MOVED. IS THIS THE SAME PROBLEM FOR THE LAST RECALL

THE VEHICLE IS A 2013 WITH LESS THAN 48K MILES ON IT. THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH ROLLING BACKWARDS WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP ON A HILL AND WITH A HESITATION THEN A SLIGHT JERK WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP. THAT HAPPENED OFF AND ON ONE DAY THEN CLEARED UP FOR ABOUT A MONTH. WHEN IT STARTED AGAIN IT WOULD ALSO HAVE SLUGGISH ACCELERATION LIKE IT HAD A SHIFTED INTO A GEAR THAT WAS TOO HIGH, OR WOULD WIND UP LIKE IT HAD SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. AGAIN, IT WAS INTERMITTENT LIKE IT WAS A LOOSE WIRE OR BAD CIRCUIT. THEN IT STARTED INTERMITTENTLY MAKING A KIND OF A GRINDING NOISE AND SHORTLY AFTER THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS TOAST.

I HAVE DRIVEN THIS 2013 ESCAPE FOR 2.5 YEARS. WE HAVE 34,838 MILES ON IT. IN THE PAST YEAR THE FOLLOWING ISSUES HAVE ARISEN. 1) HEAT SENSOR HAS GONE BAD, WARNING LIGHTS AND BELLS SIGNALING A SERIOUS PROBLEM, AS THE CAR SHUTS DOWN. CAR WILL NOT START. REPLACED TWICE IN 8 MONTHS. 2) LEFT PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE - LATCH ISSUE AS STATED IN NHTSA RECALL 16V643. 3) IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS, THE CAR WILL STALL WITHOUT ANY WARNING. NOT OVERHEATING. COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS SHOW NO PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, RESIDENTIAL DRIVING WITH FREQUENT STOP SIGNS, PULLING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, IN PARKING LOTS, A SHORT TRIP USUALLY DOES NOT PRODUCE THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER, IF WE ARE RUNNING ERRANDS AND MAKE MORE THAN ONE (1) STOP, WE WILL DEFINATELY EXPERIENCE THE STALL DURING THE DRIVE HOME. CAR WILL COAST TO A STOP, NO INDICATION FROM GAUGES OF ANY ENGINE ISSUES. CAR HESITANTLY RESTARTS. WE PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION, AS WE DO NOT KNOW WHEN IT WILL STALL AGAIN, AND IN WHAT TRAFFIC SITUATION. IT IS AT THE DEALER TO HAVE 3 RECALLS ADDRESSED, AND THEY WILL 'DETERMINE' IF THEY CAN IDENTIFY THE REASON FOR THE STALL. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO ANOTHER MECHANIC, WHO DID NOT GET TO DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL A FEW HOURS AFTER I DROPPED IT OFF. OF COURSE, DIAGNOSTIC TESTING PRODUCED NO RESULTS AND THE MECHANIC DROVE THE CAR ONCE, FOR TEN MINUTES - STALL DID NOT OCCUR. NOTED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RECORD WITH NHTSA 40 TIMES, AND A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. IN RESPONSE TO QUESTION BELOW, "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?", I AM PROVIDED THE MOST RECENT DATE: 08/19/2018. (IT HAPPENS DAILY). I CONTACT THE DEALER LAST WEEK AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN 08/20.

THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR DOES NOT SHUT FLUSH TO THE DOOR FRAME. I DISCOVERED THIS WHEN I WAS WASHING MY CAR. BELOW YOU ASKED WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN? NOTHING HAPPENED THIS IS JUST THE WAY THE IS. I ALWAYS THOUGHT THE WINDOW WAS NOT SHUTTING COMPLETELY BECAUSE WHEN YOU SIT IN THE PASSENGER YOU CAN HEAR A WHISTLE. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE DOOR. MAYBE IT DIDN'T WORK?

VEHICLE STARTED TO CATCH ON FIRE DUE TO PREVIOUSLY SERVICED RECALL THAT WASN'T DONE CORRECTLY . DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, CAR STARTED MAKING CRAZY NOISE AND SMOKING BAD . THERE WAS COOLANT IN IT AND IT WAS NOT LEAKING. VEHICLE STARTS ALERTING ' PULL OVER SAFELY CAR OVERHEATING ' DURING ROUTINE DRIVES EVEN WHEN COOLANT IS FULL . THIS TIME IT WAS PRACTICALLY ON FIRE . CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE AND FORD WILL NOT HELP US . THEY SAY BECAUSE IT WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED THEY AREN'T UNABLE TO ASSIST ANY FURTHER . NOW WE ARE OUT OF A VEHICLE AND FORD IS REFUSING ANY RESPONSIBILITY .

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK, BUT REMAINED IN DRIVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWED THAT THE GEAR WAS IN PARK. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO MOVE FORWARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO READJUSTED THE BUSHING CABLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CALLED LINDSAY FORD AT 888-457-7005 (LOCATED AT 11250 VEIRS MILL RD, WHEATON, MD 20902) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V471000 (POWER TRAIN). THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE TWO DAYS LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE AND THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 96,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

IN MAY 2018 I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE, PULLED OUT OF A PARKING SPOT ONCE THE VEHICLE CORRECTED TO PULL AWAY I ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE AND THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE HOWEVER THE GEAR SHIFT WAS READING THE VEHICLE IN PARK. DUE TO READING I WAS IN PARK I BELIEVED IT SAFE TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPT TO RESTART IT HOWEVER IT WAS NOT IN CORRECT GEAR AND WOULD NOT START. I BELIEVING THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND QUICKLY REALIZED I DID NOT HAVE ANY CONTROL ANY LONGER, AND TO PREVENT AN ALMOST ACCIDENT WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN ROLLING DOWN A STEEP HILL IN SOUTHERN MIDDLE TN AND AS I ONE THIS WAS DONE, I PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BEFORE COLLIDING WITH ANOTHER CAR AND MY VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. IT WAS WHEN IT WAS AT THE MECHANICS THAT IT WAS DISCOVERED THE SHIFT CABLE BUSHINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I SAW IN LATE JUNE 18 OR EARLY JULY 18 THAT THEIR WAS NUMEROUS RECALLS FOR THIS SAME EXACT THING THAT HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE HOWEVER MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THAT.

I BOUGHT A USED 2013 FORD ESCAPE FROM DEALERSHIP ON 3/9/17. CAR HAD 1 PREVIOUS OWNER AND 29265 MILES ON IT. BY 4/20/17 THE CAR WOULD NOT START WHILE STATIONARY WITH NO INDICATION OF ANYTHING BEING WRONG. I HAD THE DEALERSHIP LOOK AT IT IMMEDIATELY WHEN THIS HAPPENED AFTER GETTING IT TOWED BY AAA WHOM ALSO TESTED THE STARTER AND BATTERY EVERYTHING WAS READING NORMAL . THE CAR STARTED ON ITS OWN. AND THE DALERSHIP COUKD FIND TGE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK IF THIS HAPPENED AGAIN. A WEEK LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AT CVS AFTER BEING DRIVEN FOR 10 MINUTES I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND AAA, AFTER WAITING 45 MINUTES FOR AAA TO ARRIVE I TRY STARTING THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO AVAIL UNTIL I SEE AAA PULLING INTO THE CVS PARKING LOT I TESTED TURNED THE KEY 1 MORE TIME AND THE CAR STARTED. THE AAA TECH CHECKED THE STARTER AND BATTERY AGAIN EVERTHING READ NORMAL. I DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND LEFT WITH THE SAME OUTCOME OF THEM NOT KNOWING WHAT IS WRONG. THIS PROBLEM CONTINUED UNTIL MY WARRANTY RAN OUT AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT HELP ME ANYMORE BECAUSE THE CAR IS STILL DRIVEABLE. I TRIED EXERCISING THE LEMON LAW BY REPORTING THE DEALERSHIP TO OFFICE OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND BUSINESS REGULATION AND WAS TOLD THEY CAN ONLY MEDIATE AND NOT MUCH COUKD BE DONE BECAUSE MY WARRANTY WAS OVER. HERE WE ARE 8/12/2018 AND THE CAR STILL HAS PROBLEMS AND WILL START AFTER WAITING ANYWHERE FROM 5 MINUTES TO 3 HOURS ALSO IT,CONSTANTLY LEAKS ATIFREEZE AND HAS TO BE REFILLED EVERY FEW WEEKS DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS THE CAR WILL SAY " HIGH TEMPERATURE COOLANT LOW" OUT OF THE BLUE WITHOUT ANY INDICATION FROM THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO AND DONT HAVE THE TIME OR MONEY TO DEAL WITH THIS.
