Equipment, electrical, engine block heaterJan 15, 2026
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Focus, 2013-2019 Escape, and 2015-2016 MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.
An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed March 6, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S01. CAR DASH BOARD ELECTRICAL WIRING HAS GONE BAD. ORIGINALLY THE INFORMATION ON SCREEN WAS FADING AND AFTER ABOUT A MONTH NO LONGER SHOWS ANY INFORMATION. FORD STATED THE ENTIRE PANEL WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED, INVOLVING RE-READING ENGINE MILEAGE AND PROGRAMMING KEYS AGAIN FOR $700. DID NOT GET THAT FIXED AS IT'S NOT A NECESSITY. DRIVER WINDOW MOTOR FAILED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING WITH THE WINDOWS UP. NOW THE ENGINE HAS BEEN READING A TURBO ISSUE BUT IT CANNOT BE DETERMINED IF IT'S THE ACTUAL TURBO BOOST OR THE WASTE GATE. THIS LEAD TO TRANSMISSION SKIPPING AND ULTIMATELY STALLING WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND THEN CITY ROADS AND HAVING TO RESTART CAR SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE IT HOME AND THEN TOWED THE CAR TO LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP WHO STATED TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR $4500. ALONG WITH A FUEL LINE ISSUE THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED 2 YEARS PRIOR AND AGAIN UNABLE TO CONFIRM WHY THE TURBO SENSOR CODE IS POPPING UP. CAR IS USED FOR TYPICAL DAILY DRIVING WITH CHILDREN AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE ISSUES. THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THIS MAKE/YEAR BUT NOT ON MY SPECIFIC VIN THOUGH THEY ARE SIMILAR ISSUES. THE COST TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE IS MORE THAN IT IS WORTH AND I'M VERY UNSATISFIED WITH THE LONGEVITY OF IT. I DID GET THE RECALL FOR MY DOORS DONE AFTER ONE DAY DRIVING AND A BACK DOOR OPENED ON ITS OWN, COME TO FIND OUT THEY STILL NEED TO REPLACE THE OTHER DOORS.

I WAS DRIVING THE CAR WHEN IT STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE CHECKED THE CAR OUT AND CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT THE VACUUM PUMP FAILED BECAUSE IT WASN'T GETTING ANY OIL FROM THE ENGINE AND IT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO LOCK UP. THE OIL GAUGE SHOWED THAT IT WAS FULL. NOW MY ENGINE NEEDS REPLACED! I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A FORD OWNER AND FOR THIS TO HAPPEN TO A 2014 FORD ESCAPE WELL I GUESS I WON'T BE BUYING A FORD PRODUCT AGAIN. I STRUGGLE TO MAKE ENDS MEET AS IT IS BUT THE COST OF REPLACING THE ENGINE IS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR ME.

Engine, Feb 3, 2021
2014 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM, 1.6 ECOBOOST ENGINE, SINCE AROUND 55000 MILES, NOTHING BUT ISSUES RELATED TO ENGINE AND COOLING SYSTEMS...CAR HAD RECALL THAT FORD DID NOT HAVE PARTS FOR, ENGINE FROZE UP COOLANT AND OIL ALL OVER THE INSIDE OF THE ENGINE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, FORD REPLACED ENGINE DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS DOCUMENTED THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL YET AND THE WORST CASE SCENARIO HAPPENED. THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN IN A CAR THAT HAS 55000 MILES ON IT. THEY INSTALLED THE COOLANT SENSOR AT THAT TIME AS WELL. THEN AT 75,000 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION WENT WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING WITH 2 CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I HAD IT REPLACED BY MY PRIVATE MECHANIC FOR $4500. LAST WEEK, USED THE FACTORY INSTALLED REMOTE START X1 IN 20 DEGREE NEW ENGLAND WEATHER, AND WHEN TRIED TO GO OUT TO CAR, THE HIGH TEMP CODE WAS ON AND THE ENGINE WOULDNT START. LET IT SIT FOR 5 HOURS IN THE 20 DEGREE WEATHER, CLEARLY ENGINE NOW COOL BUT STILL WOULDN'T START...HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC, NEXT AM HE LET ME KNOW THAT THE 2018 COOLANT SENSOR WAS BLOWN AND LEAKING COOLANT...REPLACED AND REPAIRED AT COST OF $250...WHY SHOULD A SENSOR GO AFTER ONLY 2 YEARS? SO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS ONE CAR ALL AROUND THE COOLANT AND THE ENGINE. I HAVE CONTACTED THE LAWSUIT FILED IN DECEMBER TO JOIN THIS AS WELL.

MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE ECOBOOST IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM MANY AT HTTPS://WWW.CARPROBLEMZOO.COM/FORD/ESCAPE/2014/COOLANT-LEAKING-PROBLEMS.PHP (SEE ATTACHMENT) ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT. THE ENGINE COOLANT LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. WENT TO FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY DID EXTENSIVE TESTING ON IT, SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AND ONLY THAT THE ENGINE COOLANT SENSOR CAN BE SENSITIVE. ENGINE COOLANT LIGHT GOES ON DAILY, YET LEVELS ARE OKAY. REMOVED CAP TO CHECK HEARD A HISSING NOISE AND THEN FLUID FROM OVERFLOW FLOWED IN AND NOT LOW. SO CANNOT ADD MORE COOLANT YET ENGINE LIGHT SAYS 'LOW ENGINE COOLANT' TODAY, AS WITH THE OWNER COMPLAINTS, I WAS GOING UP A HILL, AND A RED ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SAYING 'ENGINE TOO HOT, TURN OFF IMMEDIATELY AND PULL OVER' WELL I COULDN'T PULL OVER ON THE HILL SO WITHIN ONLY A FEW SECONDS, VEHICLE SHOOK, AND TURNED OFF LEAVING ME STUCK/STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A HILL WITH NO ONE TO HELP. WAITED TURNED ON AGAIN WAS ABLE TO GO MAYBE 2 FT, LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, SHUT OFF VEHICLE AGAIN. IT IS ONLY 46 DEGREES OUT TODAY AND BARELY STARTED DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE THIS HAPPENING ON THE FREEWAY LIKE OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ARE HAVING! I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT. LET ALONE TEACH MY DAUGHTER TO DRIVE ON IT! I THOUGHT I WAS BUYING HER A SAFE VEHICLE. I CHECKED VIA VIN NUMBER AND SHOWS ON OPEN RECALLS, YET, THIS IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM OTHER OWNERS ARE HAVING. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED! PLEASE CONSIDER REVIEWING AND THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP IN RESOLVING THIS ISSUE.
