TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SENSOR FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY, AND THE INTERNAL LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND DRAINED THE BATTERY. THE CHIME SOUNDED EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE DOOR MAY BE OPEN WHEN IT WAS CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE ONE DEALER TWICE AND THE SENSORS WERE CLEANED. WITHIN A YEAR OF THE FIRST REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE DEALER CLEANED OR REPLACED THE SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE FIRST DEALER AGAIN AND THEN A SECOND DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.

THE DRIVER SIDE "DOOR AJAR" ALARM IS CONSTANTLY ON, EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS FIRMLY CLOSED AND SECURE.THE ALARM KEEPS GOING OFF AND THE DOME LIGHT IS ON WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION FOR A DANGEROUS PERIOD OF TIME. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON AND DANGEROUS COMPLAINT FOR SIMILAR VEHICLES IN SIMILAR YEARS.ACCORDING TO WHAT I HAVE READ ONLINE AND WATCHED ONLINE THERE ARE A LOT OF LIKE VEHICLES OUT THERE WITH THIS PROBLEM.

AS REPORTED TO FORD: WHAT IS YOUR VEHICLE SALES OR SERVICE ISSUE?:VIN: IFM5K8D85DGA40422 2013 FORD EXPLORER - I RECENTLY SHIPPED MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER TO AZERBAIJAN WHERE I AM SERVING THE U.S. GOVERNMENT. I HIRED A DRIVER WHO CONVEYED A PROBLEM TO ME REGARDING THE POWER STEERING AND SYNC SYSTEM. AFTER DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH, I BECAME AWARE OF THE RECALL FOR POWER STEERING PROBLEMS WHICH SEEM TO FIT THE SYMPTOMS RELATED TO ME. I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY TYPE OF NOTICE FROM FORD REGARDING THIS SERIOUS CONDITION. ALSO, THE SYNC SYSTEM IS BUGGY. I WAS INFORMED SOME TIME AGO OF A FUEL SYSTEM RECALL (I BELIEVE). THE VEHICLE HAS 19,750 MILES. A VEHICLE TIRE SENSOR FAULT HAS RECENTLY DISPLAYED. THERE IS A FORD DEALERSHIP IN BAKU AZERBAIJAN WHERE I LIVE. THE EXPLORER IS PART OF THEIR PRODUCT LINE. PLEASE INFORM ME WHAT I CAN EXPECT FROM FORD TO RESOLVE THE ISSUES DISCLOSED HERE EITHER UNDER WARRANTY, RECALL OBLIGATION, OR CUSTOMER CARE (WITHOUT EXPENSE TO ME). FURTHER, I WOULD APPRECIATE IF FORD U.S. WOULD COORDINATE THOSE RESOLUTION EFFORTS. WHAT ACTION HAS YOUR DEALER TAKEN TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE?:HAVE NOT CONTACTED DEALER. SUSPECT LANGUAGE BARRIERS WOULD COMPLICATE RESOLUTION EFFORTS. WHAT ASSISTANCE ARE YOU SEEKING FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY?:COORDINATE ALL NECESSARY REPAIRS TO BE PERFORMED BY THE BAKU AZERBAIJAN FORD DEALER. PROVIDE A LOANER CAR WHILE VEHICLE IS BEING REPAIRED. BE MORE PROACTIVE IN INFORMING CUSTOMERS OF POTENTIALLY SERIOUS DEFECTS THAT HAVE RESULTED IN RECALL. FORD MOTORCRAFT BATTERY (OVERCHARGE OR POSSIBLE LEAKING BATTERY) CAUSED EXTENSIVE CORROSION TO BATTERY TERMINAL AS WELL AS BATTERY CABLES AND HOUSING. READ ONLINE AND THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH FORD VEHICLES. NOT ONLY DID THE BATTERY NEED TO BE REPLACED BUT THE CABLES AND HOUSING DID AS WELL. VEHICLE IS LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED IMAGE TO SEE EXTENT OF CORROSION. THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN AFTER THE TERMINAL WAS SEMI-CLEANED IN ORDER TO JUMP THE BATTERY. BECAUSE OF THIS EXTENSIVE CORROSION, CABLES WERE SO CORRODED IT WOULD NOT MAKE A GOOD CONTACT WITH NEW BATTERY. AS I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER, THE CAR KEPT LOSING POWER AS THE BATTERY WAS CONTINUALLY DISCONNECTING. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY HAPPENED TO SOMEONE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OF BATTERY TERMINAL CORROSION. THERE WAS ZERO CORROSION ON THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL. THE POSITIVE TERMINAL IS THE PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND ALL THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AS THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS DRIVEN TO THE RESIDENCE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,120.

FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS THE DRIVERS DOOR IS SAYING IT IS OPEN WHEN IT IS SHUT. THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON WHICH MAKES IT HARD TO SEE AT NIGHT. THE DOORS WILL ALSO NOT LOCK. THAT IS VERY UNSAFE IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN IN THE BACK WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THEY CAN EASILY OPEN THE DOOR AND POSSIBLE FALL OUT. I HAVE READ MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE FOR FORD OWNERS. FORD SHOULD REALLY DO A RECALL ON THIS VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT.

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WITHIN THE PAST 3 WEEKS, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PUT OUR VEHICLE INTO "PARK" WE RECEIVED A WARNING LIGHT THAT WE NEEDED TO "SHIFT TO PARK", EXCEPT THE SHIFTER WAS PLACED IN THE PARK POSITION EVERY TIME; THIS OCCURRED TO BOTH MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF. I WAS AFRAID THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STAY IN PARK ON HILLS OR SLOPES IN PARKING LOTS AND IN MY SLOPED DRIVEWAY WHERE THERE ARE LOTS OF SMALL CHILDREN PLAYING AND RIDING BIKES BECAUSE OF THIS WARNING AND WOULD ROLL AWAY KILLING SOMEONE. RECENTLY, OUR EXPLORER WOULD NOT START, OUR KEY FOBS WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOORS; I WAS STRANDED. THIS LAST TIME ON AUGUST 24, 2015 I CONTACTED FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW IT TO THE CLOSEST FORD DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. TURNS OUT THE SHIFTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND AS A RESULT IT DRAINED THE BATTERY. IT COST ME $672.39 TO REPLACE THE SHIFTER AND THE BATTERY; WHICH IS A LOT OF MONEY WHEN YOUR OUT OF WORK/RETIRED WITH HEALTH ISSUES. I ALSO KEPT THE OLD PART FOR EVIDENCE. I TALKED TO ANOTHER FORD EXPLORER OWNER WHO ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND TO DATE THERE IS NO RECALL I SUPPOSE BECAUSE NO ONE IS DEAD, YET.

AS I WAS DRIVING WITH MY WIFE AND THREE BOYS IN A HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE LIGHT TURN ON AND THE VEHICLE CHOKE AND TURN OFF, THE CAR THAT WAS COMING IN BACK OFF ME NEARLY HIT ME CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THE CAR IN BACK OF ME SWONG TO THE LEFT NEARLY HITTING THE CAR COMING ON THE LEFT AND MY VEHICLE, MY HEART STARTED PUMPING FAST KNOWING WHAT COULD HAD HAPPENED. THIS SITUATION GOT ME THINKING NOT TO THRUST FORD VEHICLES. I CAN'T RISK PUTTING MY FAMILY LIFE IN DANGER BECAUSE OF A FAIRLY NEW VEHICLE. THIS SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING ON A TWO AND HALF YEAR OLD CAR. I TOOK IT TO GET DIGNOSTIC TEST AND IT CAME OUT THAT THE THROTTLE BODY AND PULGE VALVE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. FORD SHOULD RECALL THESE VEHICLE IMMIDIATELY.
